If, like me, you like D&D primarily for the roleplay and character-building elements, then I really recommend that you start listening to Campaign 2 (The Mighty Nein), and then MAYBE go back and listen to Campaign 1. Campaign 2 starts out with stronger characters and a higher amount of fun character interactions right from the get-go. The Vox Machina campaign starts out shaky: the characters are flatter and less likeable and they only slowly get better over the first 15-20 episodes. If on the other hand you’re more into D&D for the combat and you don’t mind starting out with less interesting characters, you’ll probably be fine starting at the very beginning with Vox Machina.
The combination of game play and voice acting creates a unique experience for the listener. These are LONG episodes, but they fly by. It's fun and immersive.
What happened to episodes 7-9 of vox machina?
I stumbled on this podcast last March. It wasn’t long until I was hooked. Even started watching the past streams on YouTube. It took me until August but I finally caught up through both campaigns. Both Campaigns are amazing. Truly incredible work, it opened up a whole way of interactive storytelling that has mesmerized me all year. I would start with the second one, work your way to the present and then go back through the first campaign. Laura Bailey, Sam Reigel, Travis Willingham, and Matthew Mercer are some of the most naturally funny people I’ve ever had the pleasure to listen to. Jester, Scanlan, Grog, and and the plethora of npc’s Matt has come up with will leave you satisfied. The other cast members are great too those are just my favorite. Matt’s world is really incredible.
I used to listen to Your dark heresy games for long drives. Gonna miss it for sure
I won’t lie, making the jump from Vox Machina to the Mighty Nein was a new thing. But 30 episodes in, and the Nein are starting to really grow on me!
I want to get into it more, but the audio quality does not seem to get better. Maybe the story gets better, but I honestly cannot stand listening to it. Get everyone their own decent mics and try a little bit of mixing, because this is honestly terrible on my ears.
Nothing funnier to listen to while painting minis
If your really into a group of sociopaths who solve everything at the point of a sword then you will love this. If you want something more complicated with your role play then you will be disappointed.
The first campaign is a story that starts off a little rocky with some issues between the players, but by the end you won’t remember any of that as you fight to see through your tears of joy and sadness.
Absolutely love these guys. And gals lol they are so funny together. It just draws you in and keeps you coming back for more. They just have this chemistry and they bring you along on this story with them and you feel all the emotion and get to know these characters and it’s great it’s just so fun def check it out
Good voice acting and top tier DMing. Gameplay is a little frustrating at times and episodes can run long but still a great listen
Amazing cooperative storytelling. Exactly what Gary Gygax envisioned and dialed up to 11.
This is great, awesome story telling thanks much for making my work day so much better
Albums: songs from the wood, heavy horses. Songs: songs from the wood, cup of wonder, velvet green, one brown mouse. More wandering adventure, less Oliver Twist.
I’m super late to the game, but have been gradually catching up and enjoying every minute of it! Masterful story crafting, well conceived and multidimensional characters. Also provided so much inspiration for personal d&d campaigns. Thank you so much!
Currently living abroad with more time than expected on my hands. Long breaks and long bus rides by the dozen. And yet I can never get past the first half hour. Thought this could fill the gap while I’m separated from my old D&D crew but it just makes me miss them more. I’ve tried thrice now to get into Critical Role. Just can’t do it. Perhaps it’s unfair to judge the entire show based on the first 30 minutes of episode 1 of campaign 1, but here I go. The audio quality is non-existent. Music continually overtook the dialogue or descriptions by the DM, leaving me straining for a sense of what was going on. Players keep talking over each other, which is bad enough irl but horrendous on an audial medium. Ep 1 seemed to drop right into the middle of a campaign without truly introducing the characters. The “welcome to” episode did allow for basic knowledge of the party members but not why they’re together or what they’re doing. Normally I take D&D semi-seriously with my friends but how seriously everything was being taken didn’t sit well with me. The DM seems to have done substantial and impressive world building based on the vast reserves of lengthy episodes and recommendations from my friends, so points for that.
I love this show so much and have binged hundreds of hours of it already. The second campaign is still going, if any of you are wondering, on their own podcast channel. It’s still called Critical Role, with Critical Role as the publisher
I’m a little late to the Critical Role game, but that just means I get to enjoy hefty backlog binge style. These are some talented folks! They’re imaginative and funny, they really fuel the story with their role play. And, since they’re all accomplished voice actors, their character voices/accents are on *point*! They also do a great job at incorporating guest players seamlessly into their current story. The DM and the players are all very patient and helpful when folks are learning - new skills, which die is which and when to roll it - so it makes for an excellent model of how the game should go.
Just wanted to say this is amazing, especially when I’ll be having an upcoming 2.5 hour commute once a week. Thanks for catching me up on the current season! As a note, there are still other episodes being uploaded, but on a different channel. Search for the title and you’ll find it!
When critical role separated from geek and sundry they started another podcast channel also called critical role but the newer one has an all black background. The other channel starts where this one ends. (I was also confused for a while)
The podcast is a great time waster. But the episodes stopped? Sometimes they will talk over each other and the sound gets muffled.
I love this podcast and was cruising through Campaing 2 until episodes stopped being uploaded. The last upload was on February 21! Please please please keep updating campaign 2 so I can keep following the journey. It’s the only real way I can follow along.
I am listening to the backlog. On campaign 1 episode 85. - I can't listen with my child around because of all the swearing. I'd be fine with it when it makes sense, but it's a lot of extra that isn't needed. - I wish the audio levels were more consistent and a bit higher. I tend to blow out my ears when switch from this to music.
love thos podcast!! so many talanted people!
Dear god the yelling will make your ears bleed. Show is pretty good but listening to them constantly scream is unbearable.
Started looking for podcasts to listen since I work overnight and came upon this podcast have not regretted at all these guys and girls are amazing barley on episode 49 been 4 months since started listening
I did not even know about dungeons and dragons before I was introduced to Critical Role. These people truly inspired me to use this amazing table top game to bring friends together and create again. This game is great and this story these people tell is wonderful.
So far, Critical Role has been one of my favorite parts of going to work; I get to listen with one ear while I do my work, and it is a barrel of laughs the whole way through. Plenty of fantastic characters, storytelling, drama, action...it has everything I have ever wanted out of a D&D podcast. 5/5, no question.
The cast and the DM seem solid. Though the party is huge seems to slow a lot down. The BIG problem is the audio quality I really don’t know how all you guys listen to it’s sometimes they are very hard to make out. Very echoing and sometimes even static I’m really disappointed I had high hopes for this too.
I just did a review for the non- Geek and Sundry CR and I couldn’t let this one go without some love either; I’ve been a long standing fan of Critical Role for quite awhile now and let me say this much; since I started listening/watching their show in late 2017 I have not been disappointed even once. I’ve laughed, I’ve cried and I’ve even died a little inside from silly choices that we all as D&D players have made at least once and know the outcome for haha. In a few hundred years, Matt Mercer is going to be a legend for his story telling prowess and his ability to captivate an audience, he is the Tolkien of our time in his descriptions and his creativity and if you’re on the fence about listening to this podcast or watching this show, I highly recommend giving it a shot, because the legends of Vox Machina and the Mighty Nein are stories that will steal your heart. And I have no doubts in my mind that the chronicles of Exandria will go very very far into the future; so jump on the bandwagon now and catch up, cause you won’t want to miss out on this fandom! And if the one reading this currently happens to be Matt, Marisha, Liam, Sam, Ashley, Laura or Travis; I don’t even need to tell you all how loved you are, just keep up the good work and keep making us all proud to call ourselves MF’ing Critters 💪🏼 Yours, Erudring
Search critical role and the new channel will appear. Beginning with C2E52. They have become independent from Geek and Sundry and therefore created a new channel that you can subscribe to for latest episodes!
I love these nerds! I listen all day and work and adore their voice work, humor, and sense of drama! One of my favorite things!
I’m in love with this podcast. Such a good thing to listen to when on long road trips, really makes the time fly!
Great show. To anyone wondering where the new episodes are they’re on a new channel in Apple podcasts that also features talks Machina and the new one shots they do. That’s all I gots, peace
What can I say. The players are incredibly talented and have genuine chemistry with each other. The GM is gifted and is an amazing world builder. I binged the first campaign in weeks and would have caught up if I was not waiting for a friend, and former D & D companion, to finish the first campaign so we can experience the second campaign together.
This group has provided the funniest and most emotional moments of my life. You hope they never stop.
I love this podcast but it’s about 5 episodes behind the live updates. I’m just wondering where they are?
This podcast talks about one of my favorite shows and that is star vs the forces of evil and it’s so cool that they finally have podcast that is my favorite show 🙂😃🙂😀
The team behind this is amazing. I’m still trying to catch up with the current episodes 😂
They recently moved channels, so all new Critical Role content (including Talks and recaps among other things) are at their new critical role channel, YouTube podcast and twitch! I’ve been a fan for several months and I I love this series, currently caught up on M9 and watching VM. This guys are a thrill to watch and listen, I highly recommend. Don’t let the long episodes scare you... they’re worst it!
Everything about Critical Role is top notch: Matt Mercer is a DM whose talent and creativity are nearly limitless, the production value (starting with season 2) is amazing, and the players are so charming/funny/talented that you will wish that they were your friends. Especially Laura Bailey who is my heart 😍 I would also recommend starting with season 2 as it is a bit more accessible, ie. sound quality, and inclusiveness. By inclusiveness I am referring to some of the jokes in season 1 that are a bit rapey (I’m looking at you Scanlon), which I would have found funny as a teenager, but now just make me uncomfortable. There is nothing remotely like that in season 2 though, I assure you. I would easily give a pinky to play one session at this table!
Seriously, this is one of the best shows going. I have predominately switched to watching on Twitch, but still use the podcast to catch up or listen to old episodes when I need some background noise. The members of this cast and crew are amazing people and their characters are some of the best in any media. Love ya Critical Role and very happy to call myself a Critter.
I absolutely adore this show. I’ve been binge listening and I can’t get enough! Excellent storylines, well written character plots, and positively hilarious!
Has the support for the podcast died? I only ever have time to watch/listen on my way to and from work. Podcast is on episode 51 while the live is on 55. Y’all used to be so diligent and updated weekly. I know y’all have a lot of projects going on, but please don’t let the podcast die out.
I have not seen a new episode in three weeks what is going on
Is wondering where the newest episodes are they moved channels
This is an amazing podcast, and the storytelling never fails to impress me! I highly recommend starting with season 2, and if you want to continue listening now that they've left Geek and Sundry, don't forget to subscribe to the new Critical Role Podcast feed, too.
Wow what a good game this is to follow along with and listen to, but please please I know there is Kickstarter stuff going on but plEASE update with the new episodes.
If you want to hear a great session of DND or want to see what DND is all about. Please give this a listen. Such a great podcast. The Cast is so good together and great at improving. They will keep you enthralled in the game and keep you laughing. Matt as a dm is amazing. Wish to have him lead my dnd group. Highly recommended.
If audio issues bug you, like food eating/ subpar mic levels, don’t start with campaign 1. It’s an amazing story but I tried a few times and couldn’t get into it, then my friend had me start listening with the new characters and I was blown away. All the little issues are handled and you can fully immerse into the story. The voices are obviously professional quality and you can feel the friendship these guys have, the fact that this was brought together by dungeons and dragons is so amazing. For those who have listened to other Dnd podcasts these guys run a perfect mix of the adventure zone and the glass cannon podcast. The rules are there for a reason but there is plenty of home brew that makes it feel like the games I played with the few stalwart buddies I could find back in middle and High School. Anyways I’m now a proud critter and can’t wait every week for what the mighty nine will get up to.
There are some bright spots to this podcast, such as the comedy of Sam Riegel and the mostly well constructed narrative of the DM Mercer. However, the phony laugh that constantly accompanies the DMs questionable rolls (always conveniently high when he wants them to be) and the meta gaming and absolute unlikeability of Marisha Ray’s character(s) (always sanctimonious and unbearably stupid), just grate on me over time. I hate to put anyone on blast but I don’t know how some of the other players can sit there and not call them out on it. Anyway, worth a listen until you eventually get frustrated, but stick around for the occasional bright spot.
That chewing in the mic just is too much
This show help me out so much with Dming and a player. Thank you all for doing this each week :)
I’m a stay-at-home mom, and love listening to this during nap times and when we take walks around the neighborhood. I started listening to critical role to learn how D&D works. The out-of-the-box creativity of these actors inspired me to create a ridiculously fun character for my first campaign: a Dolly Parton/Reese Witherspoon inspired debutant dwarf paladin noble who parades her non-profit charity helping underprivileged dwarfesses. “Breasts Bejeweled: For every 10 feet of tunnel mined in my daddy’s mountain, I pledge to donate one bejeweled breastplate to an underprivileged dwarfess. Every dwarfess deserves to feel like nobility.” Thanks for your creativity and fun! Love listening.
I listen to this podcast during my 45 minute commute twice a day, and I have fallen in love. The voice actors are amazingly talented, and the story is very intriguing! Thanks Critical Role!
I’m very new to DND, my parents believed the scare of the 80’s and I never really got to play. Recently got pulled into a campaign with some friends and fell in love. I can’t wait to introduce my children when they get old enough to read. 😜 I’ve watched all of campaign 1 and I’m on track with campaign 2. This is one of the most beautiful things I’ve experienced. You are all amazing people with amazing talent!
What is there to say about Critical Role that hasn't been said already? It's a wonderful cast telling a compelling story through Dungeons and Dragons. Overall very well produced, with the caveat that if you're used to tightly edited APs this will be a rude awakening. The podcast somehow manages not to overstay its welcome much, which is impressive with 3+ hour episodes. If you want an example of what D&D can be, this is definitely one of the games you need to experience.
CR has brought a lot of people together because of the heart wrenching moments and love the actors share with each other. The two campaigns are totally separate and you can listen to the second before trying out the first or not at all! The actors create beautiful characters and Matt's world reflects just how different people are, placed in a fantasy setting. Listening to this show is like coming home. Even in the hard moments there is support.
I started watching Critical Role during Campaign 2 with the Mighty Nein. I knew bits and pieces of the adventures of Vox Machina, but the idea of watching 115 episodes ranging between 2-5 hours each was daunting. I discovered the podcast, and now I can now listen when I’m driving to and from work each day. It makes my commute SO much more enjoyable. I can’t get enough of this cast. They have so much chemistry, and Matt is a phenomenal DM. He’s the reason I got into Pathfinder with some friends. Can’t say enough good things!
Very much glad I took the time to catch up on this show. It, along with some other shows, have given me the push to play -and run- more of this great game. There is one thing that's bothered me since getting to the second campaign though. I'm aware that the podcast goes up an entire week after the live show, and I think it's silly to leave in the ~10 minutes at the start of every episode where they give updates and whatnot, because they're often irrelevant so long after the fact. I get the need for sharing the sponsors and such, but I feel like it's a largely wasted chunk of time. Apart form that, I really enjoy the minimal editing style. I pretty much don't get to watch any streams live with my work schedule, and it gives it a similar kind of feel. I hope I'm not alone in my wants but, either way, keep doing the good work!
I play D&D too and I want to play with you
This is one of the top 2 best live stream D&D. Would be 5 stars but, time between live stream and podcast is 6 days. Basically they’re just cutting out the commercials for other Geek and Sundry shows and cutting out the fan art portions. If you watch the livestream or rebroadcasts on YouTube, there’s not much reason to listen because podcast lacks foley work. Matt’s miniature work and the cast’s expressions are so good, you’re missing out by only listening.
I’m fairly new to the 5th edition of D&D, but listening to these yo-yo’s has helped me learn the rules while hearing a wonderful story filled with magic and flair. Highly suggested to anyone who is curious about D&D and all its wonderful horrible facets.
I really can't say enough good things about Critical Role. I dove in to campaign 1 about this time last year and absolutely love it. Campaign 2 is a year in now and it's just amazing too. Bravo calls! Well done!
Listen to Critical Role is you’re going to listen to a podcast. Decent audio quality as it gets better, amazing voice acting, lovable people and characters, and so funny and smart. I love this show. 10/10
This is the best evolving story that you can hear, but even better, that you can be inspired by to make your own.
Start with campaign 2 because of the production value plus you'll be starting at the beginning of a tale. Then jump back to campaign 1 because you’ll be an addict at that point and you will crave every roll.
Few do it better
I drive for at least 5-6 hours/week for my job, so I LOVE listening to an episode or two every week. It’s the joy of watching a video game stream, listening to an audio book, and watching a play all ROLED 😉 into one. Keep up the great work Mighty Nein!!!
I work graveyards and I love to listen to this.. So happy for Critical Role and everyone’s enthusiasm, awesome role playing And Matt’s superb job as DM I Love You Allllll 🙌🏼
I’m so invested in each character, I don’t know what I’ll do when the podcast ends! 😄
I have been on a hiatus for 30 years. This brought me back to enjoy the game and become addicted to their role playing and story telling. I am addicted. Love Matt and his ability and Travis and the group. They all interact and make it fun. I look forward to listening on my travels and while on treadmill I can watch. I wish they had more merch.
Was not into dnd generally but I got caught up in the adventure zone. I needed more content. Critical role has so much production value. It is so much better for their voice acting. 11/10
I think of all the live-play podcasts I’ve listened to, critical role gets into the nitty-gritty of the characters, their relationships and the world of the campaign more than any other. A great example of what a really good party, all working towards a common goal can do. And of course, can’t thank them enough for being one of the first major streams/podcasts, creating a path and a market for so many of their excellent contemporaries. Love how important their charity work clearly is to the real life group, and how much support info is around for the campaigns (talks machina, interviews, fan creations) . Keep up the great work, and thanks for helping me get into the genre! :)
I just started listening to these podcasts a week ago and haven’t been able to stop. I have found myself laughing really hard over things these characters get into. My co-workers have even noticed my suppressed laughter at work. Thank you guys for brightening up my days.
I have been listening to Crit Role for a few years now and have loved every bit of it. In fact the talent, the creativity and the fun that they have shared with us has inspired my group to also produce two podcasts. Thank you for the drama, comedy and the learning that we have received over the years. Even though this podcast is super produced it still feels like a bunch of friends sitting around playing D&D.
If you would have told me a year ago that I would listen to people playing dungeons and dragons while working and it would make me spontaneously laugh, cry, and shout with joy. I would have thought you were crazy. Yet here I am. 400 or so hours of solid entertainment. Professional voice actors bringing characters to life. Inspiring legions of folks (like myself) to find a local game to get a taste of the action. Good stuff
I just recently got into playing D&D and this podcast has really helped me learn a lot about the ins and outs of the game. Also, it’s a lot of fun, great story telling, appropriate tension. Awesome.
These guys (and gals) are amazing!! I love how into the character each of them get and make them come to life! Humor abounds as well as amazing adventures!! My favorite place to hear nerdy voice actors play Dungeons and Dragons.
Hey, it’s Resi again. I really think you should consider contacting my son Max Westgate. He is an amazing writer. He gets it from his Aunt and Grammy. His back stories are magnificent as is his vocal performance. He really needs this. He suffers so, and I just wanted to see him happy. Doing your DND Campaign would change his life.
I’ve never liked a podcast as much as this one! Listen to it it’s amazing! By the way is it Thursday yet?
I’ve listened to several D&D podcasts over the years. This is BY FAR the best! I watch the show on YouTube when I can and it is REALLY nice to have the audio podcast for the car. Amazing cast! And the best DM I’ve ever heard! I wish I could play with them :)
I love the crew of critical role and I’ve pretty much stopped listening to music in my car once I found the podcasts of the show. The only complaint I have is I can’t find their one shots on here :/ but still it’s easily 5 star quality!
Please stop using the Lord’s name as a curse, it should be celebrated. Other than that I love the show but I’m unsubscribing.
Great alternative if you can't catch the video. Stellar cast whom are stretching themselves in campaign 2 character development with great success. Matt is spectacular as both a story teller, and as a story enabler. Keep rocking!
Just love the heroic and crazy journeys you guys and ladies go on. Keep up the great work. Sincerely Mr.McKinney
When I first heard of the game called dungeons and dragons I knew I just had to play it but, like so many others, it was such a new and difficult concept for me to grasp. At a glance it was confusing and hard to fall in love with. Critical role was a crucial resource for me. I could see just how fun it could be and I gained a passion for creating stories as close to the masterpieces Mat makes on this show. Critical role is a wonderful representation of the new and evolving dungeons and dragons that still manages to keep a strong hold of the timeless game we all love. I highly recommend it to any listener.
By far one of the best podcasts out there. A lot of fun.
I love love love love love love critical role! ❤️Liam O’Brian Vax to Caleb
This series is just the best. Amazing storytelling, amazing characters, amazing acting, and amazing people. So much love for this group, and for all that they do!
I started the Vox Machina campaign after my friends convinced me to in the beginning of May. Two and a half months later, I finish the final episode, and all I can say is thank you. Thank you for the immense joy this podcast as given me, for all the laughs, the tears (I cried more times than I’d care to admit) and everything in between. I fell in love with the characters, the people, everything. My heart is full writing this. Thank you. Thank you.
The cast does not know how to take criticism at all, anyone who offers any sort of criticism whether it be negativity or constructive criticism is immediately dismissed as a hater by the cast. It’s incredibly frustrating and with the direction the new campaign has taken I will not give critical role another chance.
Sharing this with my friends finally allowed us to get a weekly session going strong, and was a great example on how to be good players. I will continue to evangelize for Critical Role to anyone who will listen.
I absolutely love the cast and Matt is an excellent GM, but the audio quality is quite bad and I feel that the party size really slows things down and can often cause a lot of accidental interruptions.
Legit D&D with nerdy voice actors! It’s perfect. I’m new to D&D and this makes me wanna play more, and as a DM I aspire to be half as good as the wonderful Matt Mercer.
It’s 8 amazing voice actors, 8 best friends, 8 emotional actors, 8 silly goof balls, and 1 wonderful storyteller. Need I say any more?
Been catching the stream off and on for a while but just couldn’t quite make every week. The podcast is awesome because I can experience the awesomeness of this bunch. Thanks for everything!
Campaign 2 is awesome. Good place to start. The audio is much better this time around.
So thrilled to find that critical role is available in podcast form! Love to watch too but I mostly listen while running, so the audio-only format suits my purposes (and my phone’s battery life) much better. This has been a total game changer!!
I love critical roll! It started me on my path in d&d. Now I’m so deep in dungeons & dragons that I have a podcast with my own group. Your an inspiration.
So, I am only listening to the audio. I have never and probably will never watch it. With that as background... Cons: I don’t get it. It’s HARD to listen to. I’m on ep 5 of Vox Machina and it is just chaos. I can’t even tell how many player characters there are. They talk over each other. They don’t use char names enough to connect names to voices. And so on. Pros: The game sounds amazing. The settings and situations are awesome. Some of the players have great char voices.
I would recommend starting at the beginning of campaign 1. It’s a massive, deep campaign that gets super engaging from the first episode.
I started listening from the beginning at the end of April at double speed, I highly recommend listening to them on 2x speed! Great podcast, you guys are amazing story tellers and I never thought I’d tear up to a podcast. Fear the cube!
Critical role is the premier dungeons and dragons game being broadcasted. Every DM should strive to be as great as Matt and every PC should strive to be as amazing as The Mighty Nein. Sam also is hilarious with the DnD beyond advertisement skits at the start of the broadcast to the point were I don’t even skip them.
So listening to this on a podcast leaves 3 minutes(at least) of intro that is useless. Please for all that is wonderful about this podcast don’t make ongoing.
January 11th to June 16th. That’s how long it took for me to go through this entire story, originally as someone curious about how D&D was played to someone who thoroughly enjoyed listening to a developing story with fun and fascinating characters. Now to begin the second campaign...
If you enjoy D&D or even a great narrative adventure this is on point. I enjoy catching up with the party on my down time and always gives me something to look forward to listening. Keep up the great work!
I’ve been enthralled with Critical Role for the last 5 months or so. Spending every listening moment engrossed in the story first of Vox Machina then the Might Nein. I love these guys! They have become such a huge influence on my role playing both as a player and a GM and I say that as someone who has been playing for 35+ years. The podcast is a great alternative to YouTube and will get you by for at least 85-90% of the show. Sometimes though you just have to see expressions.
Very good audio quality with the headset I use. Caleb is amazing and Nott makes me laugh a lot. Love the voice acting. Jester is such an innocent and pure bean, keep it up I love this!!!
I love the acting, but the audio quality really gets on my nerves. Since most people listen to podcasts on headphones, Critical Role could really use some better audio equipment and editing... sometimes it hurts. Also, the action can be a little hard to follow at times. More context would help. Overall, not a bad listen but could be great if they improved the sound quality.
To the members of G&S, I salute you. If I could, I would shake your hands for bringing my favorite past-time to life in more ways than I could imagine! I look forward to what awaits in the lands of Exandria. Sincerely yours, Weirdz33
Love this show and love that I can get it as a podcast now. Keep up the good work! Hope this show runs for a very long time!!
It goes without saying, this podcast is amazing. Just look at its cast! Mercer is a wonderfully talented DM. The work he has done in popularizing DnD to a wide audiance is remarkable. Each character is vibrant and evocative. Living storytelling at its finest.
Top notch voice actors building the most compelling characters pretty much completely off-the-cuff. Completely unique and unforgettable experience.
Words can not describe how much I love this show. Matthew and his friends weave a beautiful tapestry of a story together, And you can’t help but get sucked in. I’ve laughed with them, I’ve cried with them, and I’ve cheered as they triumphed. These guys are the real deal. Now I’m just wondering what I have to do to become a voice actor so I can be friends with these guys.
The entire crew seems to genuinely love playing with one another. Its an absolute joy to listen to.
If you are shopping for podcasts to enjoy, you won’t read a long review. So here’s all I’ll say. I watched every episode of this adventure on video, and every episode of the new season live. And I STILL listen to this podcast almost every day. It’s THAT good.
Had someone told me a year ago that I would be watching people play D and D live every week, I never would have believed them, but this podcast has transformed the way I consume entertainment. I watch the show live every week, listen to the podcast, read the comic books, have become a subscriber to project alpha and Twitch, and in general I have become a die hard critter. Your mileage may vary, but for me, Critical Role has become the standard upon which all other entertainment is measured. If you are someone who dabbled in Dungeons and Dragons at any point in your life, you owe it to yourself to give it a chance again with Matthew Mercer as your DM. The man is truly amazing. My only complaint is that I wish I had discovered it earlier. It took me the better part of a year to catch up, butI did. And now the second campaign is really starting to measure up to the adventures of Vox Machina. I’m sure it’s not for everyone, but having a story that is created live for you every week by seven talented actors is unlike anything else out there. If the podcast doesn’t make sense at first, watch them live on twitch or YouTube or Alpha and hopefully all the things you hear click into place for you; this is literally the live audio of people playing a game. And it’s amazing.
This show has really just fallen off what it once was.
This show has brought me to literal tears bought in laughter, happiness, joy, and sadness. I honestly never knew a show/podcast could change my life as much as this has.
Jester was attacking a gnoll when Matt said "make a roll" the die showed nine which is a bad sign Because the dice play a Critical Role
Used to download books on tape, but this is soooo much better. It’s like you get to hang out with your friends before and after work each day. Plus the whole time its giving me fodder for my own D&D game. Highly, highly recommend.
Just started listening at season 2, and boy, am I impressed with the quality! This podcast has quite the pedigree, and I’m looking forward to eventually listening through the backlog of season 1. Thank you all!
Never played DnD but having discovered Critical Role and just getting lost in these awesome adventures, I jumped straight in and am now a noob DM with all noob players. The adventures of Vox Machina definitely helps the creative process.
Best D&D cast iv ever heard. Pure brilliant acting an story telling by the DM. Love the show! Is it Thursday yet!
This show is so amazing. It has given me so many great ideas for my campaigns and always gives me a laugh, thank you critical role for all your entertainment
I love this show, I listen to it constantly while I am driving around the country as a semi driver. I just wish I had more storage on my device for all the episodes and new ones coming out, I would honestly buy this on CD format to have as a backup as well.
I recently moved to a location with very little internet access, so this was great to find. Now I can listen to the show any time and finally get caught up!
So thankful to have this incredible show in an easier to digest podcast format.
Thanks for uploading the campaign in podcast form!!!
Overall this is a good podcast but audio quality can range. I understand the excitement of getting a critical hit or slaying a great enemy but WHY DO YOU HAVE TO MAKE MY EARS BLEED!?!? Either stop screaming or please edit out the obnoxious audio clipping that occurs as a result. I want to rate this higher but now I have noise induced hearing loss. THANKS
Matt’s content is incredible. The talent and production is great. Five star quality. Minus one star for Talison, so boring. Minus one star for the fowl language especially Marisha. Minus one star that it contains so much filthy “adult” content, I couldn’t share it with any family or friends.
I watched the entire show and caught up in time for episode 115 live on twitch! While in between C2 episodes I’ve been on my second listen through of this amazing show
Im happy that you guys decided to make a podcast off of this, I was never able to catch up with the old season since I don't have much time on my hands, but now that I'm able to listen to it audio only I listen every Thursday night at work. You guys are awesome and you always inspire my own campaign that I run, can’t wait to hear more!
Please do another episode of Grog in an arena! Hahahah
Love you guys so much and I can't say anything negative about actual play, you guys are the best. I enjoy every episode! HOWEVER, 17 minutes into Cam. 2 ep. 1, the campaign actually starts. Very annoying. I hope this is not a regular occurrence, even though I'll probably continue to listen anyways.
I’ve been watching Critical Role since it’s inception (and been asking for a podcast version since then as well). One of the things I loved in the beginning was the atmospherics: people eating, drinking, and horsing around before and after the show. There was a voyaristic sense of hanging out with a bunch of friends and maybe you just happened to be the quiet one. Since then the show and the players have lost that rawness (except for the one shots) but retained what feels like 20 minutes of sponsorships (which is minimal compared to other mediums). This is my long way of saying, while I miss the visuals the podcast brings a fan the best parts of what the show is these days in my opinion: gameplay. Sure, I have criticisms of the show that are nothing new for long time fans, but the podcast really refines the best out of the material.
I unfortunately need to drive a fair distance daily for work. Luckily, you fantastic humans have shared your geekiness with the world and I can spend my hours on the 101 imagining your travels. It makes me miss playing D&D with old friends. Please keep playing as long as you enjoy it and please keep sharing it with us.
If you're daunted by the backlog, worry not! The new campaign has started and will be releasing each episode one week after they air on Geek & Sundry's Twitch channel. This is a great new place to start : ) Is it Thursday yet?
Critical Role is, at its core, an old-time (or, perhaps, ‘new-time’) unscripted, impromptu radio drama. Ultimately, the themes of this story are falling from grace, the power of redemption, and what it means to be a family. With dice. And dungeons. And dragons.
And beep beep. If you know what that means, then enough said. Spice anyone?
I have been trying to get caught up for a year or more. I can finally do so without burning up my cell phone data plan and battery. Thank you!
I accidentally caught the livestream of the new campaign, which was the first I’d even seen of Critical Role! I went all the way back to the beginning, and I’m excited to be able to listen to it without having to worry about my WiFi connection at any moment! I do a lot of driving, so this is perfect!! The talent of all involved is amazing!
The content of the podcast is entertaining and fun but at points the audio becomes almost unlistenable but those moments are very few
Newest episodes have solid audio, and make for an entertaining car ride to work.
Simply one of the best organized and run RPG campaigns I’ve ever come across. Full of real sincere moments that are allowed to be so, alongside just the dumbest fun stuff. So glad there’s a podcast version as I VERY rarely have the time to put on the Twitch stream.
I watched Critical Roll from the earliest days and fell in love. The cast is great. DM Matt deserves especial praise for engaging storytelling. I would listen to old episodes on the geek and sundry site while writing my dissertation. It was a perfect escape from the grueling task of writing. Thanks VM!
I love this show with all of my heart. The remarks and wit in every single second of each episode is perfect. However, in the form of podcast I do miss the funny banter before and after the main campaign focus.
My favorite show on the internet and now I have it in my ear every where I go! Incredible cast, amazing story, with enough heart to lift the world. Thankful to have it as a podcast.
Critical Role is what introduced me to D&D! Thank you for releasing the episodes as podcasts!
I am writing this review while simultaneously watching Critical Role highlights on YouTube - that is how fanstatic this show is and how much I love it. Matt Mercer is a spectacular actor, writer, and DM. The cast is equally phenomenal. The whole show is an improv exercise of the greatest caliber. It is best viewed in video form, but the podcast holds up extremely well. It has been very fun to go back through these episodes in audio form and they are much more convenient for commutes and working out in this form. I highly recommend the show and kudos to all the people who put the podcast together!
Amazing show to watch, fantastic as a radio drama as well! Never played D&D, never thought I’d be interested, stumbled across this on accident and have been hooked ever since! The characters draw you in and get you hooked!
I first found the Critical Role crew when they did a one off collaboration with the Kinda Funny guys. I’ve been hooked ever since. Such a great backlog of adventures to experience. I’m still trying to catch up. Congratulations on hitting 100 episodes and keep up the great questing.
As much as I love Critical Role as a Twitch show, it does not transfer to a podcast as well as a show designed for the aural medium.
I love this podcast. I’m currently around episode 57 and I want it to never end!
I’ve never played D&Ds before, and I sort of stumbled across this podcast; and I love it. I can’t wait for each new dump of episodes. The characters and DM are amazing and the story is wonderful! I can’t put into words how much I love this podcast!!!
Great way to catch up on the old episode of Critical Role or pass some time with hundreds of hours of great entertainment. Is perfect for my long commute.
Very nice. I listen to this podcast during my commute to work. It gets me hyped up for my DND sessions.
I’ve been listening and watching Critical Role since their first episode on twitch and ever since then I’ve been a fan. Now that I’ve seen that I can listen to their campaign on the road gives me goosebumps and joy! Keep up the good work Critical Role!
If you enjoy D&D and radio dramas then this podcast is something you need to listen to. Love it and the voice acting is stellar
Audio quality needs work, and overall but lackluster. However it's decent enough to pass time.
In a customer service job at a dying produce distribution company, I find solace in CR. Giving me a place to escape my office corner and into the mind of the amazing Matthew Mercer! If I could I’d give them more stars than 5!
I discovered this randomly in early September while doing D&D research and went down a YouTube rabbit hole that led me here. Watched episode 109 or so and enjoyed it enough that I went back to the beginning. Last night I finished episode 115. My dvr is full. Stranger Things sits unwatched on Netflix. And I couldn't be happier. Whether it's in audio only or video, Critical Role is engaging and extraordinary entertainment with more content than any regular television series that's ever aired. To say I'm looking forward to the second campaign is a vast understatement. Thank you, Vox Machina.
I had trouble being able to watch these before, thank you so much for converting these to podcast form!!!!!!
I subscribed to Geek&Sundry a long time ago to be able to watch this show live. I have since seen every episode at least once, some twice. Now that it is set in podcast form, my 1-2 hour drives to random places for work go by so much faster as Grog rages, Scanlan inspires, Percy obliterates, Keyleth... is Keyleth(goldfish), Vax stealths, Pike heals, and Vex winks on their journey. Thanks, so much, to the G&S team, and VM for the special permission, for this!
Filled with brilliant talented actors. Compelling stories, amazing storytelling by Matt Mercer and the cast. As a long time fan of Critical Role, I cant recommend this podcast enough. Great to drive too.
The dungeon master and adventurers perform so well that you can’t help but get sucked into their adventures and antics. Keep being so good and keep up the great work!
These guys are great! Very professional and theatrical podcast of funny D&D adventures! Original characters and the cast are voice actors??? Cool! Keep it up guys! I wait every week for your new episodes!!! Matt, your YouTube videos have helped me become a better DM. Thank you.
It really is just that, the world is full and has a build to it. Events are pacing around not only the main group of adventures but also everywhere else. The characters are realized and fun, the chemistry between them and the actors really makes every thing have more weight. Really just give it a try if you can get through the first 4 or 5 episodes I swear it will grab you.
Okay for real I love Critical Role. And the fact that I can go back and relive the adventures of Vox Machina via my earholes while at work it super amazing!
I began watching Critical Role streams a couple of years back, but unfortunately I got behind. Now I have a huge backlog of episodes to watch/listen to. The podcasts are great because I always have them at the ready when I have spare time to listen. G&S, please keep uploading the episodes as podcasts. It’s a huge service to the Critter community!
I mean I prefer to watch their beutiful faces, but also it's Critical Role so it's perfect
I love the show, but watching can be a hassle sometimes. It’s soooooo much better in audio podcast form for me
Fantastic show. Give it a listen!
I actually prefer listening to the podcast over watching the videos. Regardless this is a great show with great players & DM. Wonderfully creative and fun to listen too. Also very inspiring as a player/DM
the sound quality is just awful. i am finding this to be virtually unlistenable. barely audible lows, followed by ear drum rupturing highs. people talking over each other, the dm talking too far away from the mic, the music too loud and drowning out the characters, who i can't tell apart and am finding less and less likable. the youtube series just wasn't designed to be a podcast, and it shows. the adventure zone, they are not. not even close.
Been listening for a few months now, just recently heard about it and I am addicted. I’m about 40 episodes in and am overjoyed that there’s almost 100 more. The upload schedule is great, I’m sure all the episodes will be out in podcast form before I can even catch up.
I started listening to the Critical Role Podcast on iTunes as I was leaving Oklahoma on my trip west last month. If you've ever been interested in knowing more about D&D or want to get started, then I highly recommend the collaborative storytelling you'll find in their show. The story alone is entertaining from a fan of the fantasy genre but they also do a great job of demonstrating the mechanics of the game. They make gameplay simple and show how you can easily express creativity with your character. Matthew Mercer's improvised narrative of the character's adventures in the world he has created is not only impressive but quite fascinating. It's no surprise that they have so many active followers that tune in each week to watch and listen to Matt and Vox Machina tell their adventures.
I'm I pizza driver the podcast works better than video (driving safety) I just wish they had more on the podcast
Along with Dungeons and Randomness and Critical Hit, this stands alongside with the top of the genre and is as good or better. It really combines some of the best aspects of each.
This show motivated me to DM for my friends and family. Amazing people and an amazing show.
Always heard about "Critical Role" but never saw an episode. I've already listened to all 40 episodes and I'm excited for more. I love the group dynamic. Everyone is charming and entertaining.
I was looking for something to binge and I got immediately hooked. I can't help but compare it to all other story telling now, and it's undeniable, most everything else is now lacking in comparison to this!
Awesome program so glad to see it here.
This has to be the best podcast for any tabletop game out there. FUNNY, infinitive, unpredictable, and just plain entertaining. Have had so much fun listening to it, talked a few friends into starting up a new game with D&D 5e. ‘Grog would like to rage.’
So glad these are finally in podcast form
I can't recommend this podcast highly enough. Excellent acting, compelling plots, and dynamic, unforgettable characters. Masterful storytelling by Matt Mercer along with basically a master class in DMing for tabletop games every episode.
Love the show! But I am quickly catching up and need more eps!
I have seen several episodes on YouTube, but it’s hard to find the time to watch a 3 hour YouTube video. Now that “critical roll” is in podcast form I have been able to start listening consistently! The show is great and holds me over in between d&d sessions with friends.
Matt Mercer is by far one of the best DMs you’ll ever listen to. I love how everyone gets into their characters so much. Anyone rating the Critical Role Podcast lower than 5 stars is being ridiculous. CR didn’t start out as a podcast, this was just something that was fun with friends that grew into this amazing show. Don’t let the negative critics bring you down Vox Machina!
Brings D&D to the masses in a fun, entertaining way!
Could we get all the episodes eventually? These are so good and I can't watch he video since I commute while I listen to d&d podcasts. Thanks for the content!
This is a good, solid D&D game. The players are voice actors who do a great job of having distict and memborable charactors and the GM made a flushed out, realistic fantasy world that manages to incorporate most of the iconic fantasy elements while seeming distict and memorable.
Vox Machina is a great group of role players! You have inspired me to go back and play D&D. I didn't like 4.0 at all and I am shy about 5e, so I have gotten a group together and we are "rolling"😅😄😂 old school with 3.5. I don't watch YouTube all that much so the podcasts are great! Listening to the adventures of Vox Machina is the best way for me to pass time to and from work. 😄 Keep up the good work and the good fight. 👍
I am extremely new to DND and searched for a podcast to learn about the game. Then I came across this group of crazy friends! Their acting creates a world that could be real. I am on episode 10 and hope that they will add all the episodes (100+) to iTunes ASAP.
I've been following Critical role for a little over a year now through YouTube and twitch. Mostly I would listen to them though. I work in a library so when I was in the stacks managing books I would pull up the show on YouTube on my phone and put it in my pocket and just listen to their story through my headphones. Now I can save on some data and battery with it being a podcast! If you haven't started the show then you are in for a treat!
This group is amazing and I'm so glad they finally have this available in podcast format for those of us with long commutes. Can't wait til they are adding these as they record them!
I've been watching for about a year and have always hoped there would be a podcast version of the episodes to come out. This is-- hands down-- the best DnD stream you can watch/listen to. The actors all do such a wonderful job at bringing their characters to life and I absolutely love Matt Mercer's world. The only thing wrong with this podcast? It can't come out fast enough. I've already gotten through episode 30 and am eagerly awaiting more to be uploaded.
Between work and my home life I never had time to sit and watch the awesomeness that is Critical Role! Now I can listen to it! Matt Mercer is a marvel. If you are at all interested in fantasy storytelling and amazing characters please give this a listen!!
I cannot express how excited I am that this exists in podcast form now. I love this show a bit too much.
Love these guys. They have great characters and stick to the game. Every once in a while the audio does some funny sutff but I think its from them turning this into a podcast from a live stream. Keep it up folks!
After watching Critical Role for over a year and a half, I'm finally able to take it with me whenever I go. I travel a lot for my job and finally having the chance to listen to the show while I drive and fly is AMAZING!!
This is simply the best live play roleplaying podcast out there right now. Matt Mercer is an excellent DM and all the players have the acting chops needed to make each person in the group feel distinct and original. Kudos to Critical Role!
Less data usage is always great!
This is hands-down my favorite podcast!!!
Great to listen to while driving/doing chores around the house. Also an excellent way to catch up on older episodes.
It's a clear, crisp audio version, which cuts out all the bits that don't convert well to audio only(breaks, opening, outdated announcements). More please.
It's a little rough in the translation to a podcast at times, but works pretty darn well for your Vox Machina fix! The only thing I wish for is that the Podcasts were dropped more than once a month. But 10 a month is generous. Keep it up! Glad to have Critical Role in my ear wherever I am!
I wish that my DnD games were this good! With a full party of voice actors (both male and female), listening to the podcast really reminds me of the radio shows of olde. I feel like I'm there in the world Mercer has created, and a member of Vox Machina. I actually like the podcast better than the stream/YouTube videos. There is so much content too! My one request would be to have Mercer do a series in which he gives new DM's tips on how to improve, maybe explain some rules and how he uses them in game.
i love these D&D podcasts but i really want more haha plz
Literally cannot stop listening. Love it.
Love this format because I can listen to it anytime. I have been wanting to go back and start from the beginning!
The show that introduced me to dungeons and dragons is finally in podcast form! Fantastic cast of talented voice actors in a constantly evolving story of lovable character and exciting adventure. Try it out!
Before CR was available as a podcast, I was slogging through by playing the YouTube videos through my phone on my commute. It was very difficult and annoying (I had to scrub to where I left off almost every time), but this show is worth it. And now it's easier than ever to listen! I'm so happy it's a podcast now. Matthew Mercer is the best Dungeon Master ever. He has a million voices in his arsenal, and has an innate knack for storytelling, character, and pacing. His worlds feel like living, breathing entities. And each member of Vox Machina plays their role perfectly, delivering humor, badassery, and even occasionally pathos. You really fall in love with each character. I love Critical Role!
As a die-hard Dungeons and Dragons fan and fan of Critical Role. Subscribing to this podcast and re-listening to the adventures of Vox Machina has made the time stuck in traffic back and forth from work a lot more bearable. Definitely recommend to any D&D fan or those interested in D&D.
Been watching for awhile and wishing there was a podcast version. Dream fulfilled, can't wait til they catch up to where I am and I can keep listening on my commute.
This show is phenomenal! Glad to see it in podcast form!
Love Critical Role, but fell off after graduating college and getting a job. Now I can finally catch up through podcasts :)
Friends of mine had always talked about the YouTube show but I just couldn't find the time to watch it. The podcast is amazing and my only issue is I want all the episodes at once!!!
This show is life altering and epic! I have seen over 90 of the YouTube videos for the show and being able to listen to this while driving or working is great! I needed this in my life more that I thought.
They uploaded the first 10 of their 100 episodes on June 8th, 2017. They're great, but it's 4 weeks later, and they haven't uploaded anything since. Come on people. Your podcast version and we listeners have a lot of catching up to do. They ought to upload an episode five days a week until the podcast catches up with the live show. That's what? 5 or 6 months?
I have wanted to get into critical role for a while, but I don't have the time to sit and watch 300hrs worth of dnd to catch up. This lets me finally get into CR and I hope you update soon.
Critical Role is one of my favorite stories ever told in any medium. It's played and run by voice actors, so the acting and role playing is top notch; the characters are all best friends, so the group has great chemistry; Matt Mercer is an incredibly adept Dungeon Master; and the whole experience familiarizing you with D&D 5e shows you how the game is for everyone—not pimple-faced weirdos in their mom's basement. The variety of characters and personalities, the balance of humor and epicness... I simply can't recommend this show enough, especially now that it's in an easy-to-access podcast form!
My commute can take almost an hour some days and having the team come with me makes the time fly by. Thanks for the hours of fun.
I love critical role but don't have the time to watch a 4 hour YouTube video, this brings the podcast we all love to an audio format. THE BIGGEST ISSUE is that there aren't more episodes! Please please please put out more episodes!! I needs it!
I'm so glad it's finally in podcast form!! I love it! It's reignited my love of dnd (and now I'm considering joining a gaming group!) Though the next question is... now that I'm all caught up, when will the next episodes be uploaded??
This is an amazing podcast of great friends having some epic adventures in D&D. Watch it, you won't regret it.
I'm a new player to D&D. This particular adventure has helped me learn the ins and outs of the game while providing a captivating story. Excellent!
I glad you guys finally got it together and made a podcast now I can listen at work. Thank you!
My friends have been in to this series for a long while, but the YouTube and/or Twitch format is one that's not readily accessible to me. I really appreciate that these have been made available as audio podcasts and am super cheerful to follow the series. Thank you!
Haven't been able to listen until now. Can't wait for the next episodes to be uploaded.
I love this show, keep up the great work guys!!!
Amazing wonderful super adorable awesome crew
I've watched a few episodes on YouTube, but never had time to sit through a whole episode. This is a great way to binge listen. Stopping and starting as I need. The voice actors are amazing and paint a picture with words. If you can't watch the live streams or the videos, this is your next best option. The microphone/recording quality isn't great there first few episodes, but they seemed to be making an effort to improve them. It's it's great quality if you remember that they converted it from live streams to videos to audio.
I have been meaning to watch this show! But i feel so far behind. But now, i feel i will be able to catch up, if more episodes are uploaded. Please? :)
A phenomenal companion to the streaming show on Twitch and Project Alpha.
This show is everything wonderful about DnD.
Even if you don't know what Dungeons and Dragons is. This is more than a bunch of geeks rolling dice and playing imaginary adventure games. This is humor, drama, storytelling, and IMPROV at its best. If you have any appreciation for acting or adventure you'll love this. And if you don't then you need this in your life.
Love critical role, friend got me into it a year and a half ago and I've been addicted ever since. So glad to have a podcast to listen to so I can pretend to be just listening to music at work!
So much fun!
I've been a fan of Critical Role for almost 2 years now and I always wished I could listen to it while I drove. It's so nice to listen to the early episodes again and it makes long drives fly by!!
I've been converting to just audio versions for over a year. This is going to make my life 100% easier!
I can finally listen in the car! Been waiting for this for a long time
Been watching since the beginning, and now my husband and I get to listen from the beginning again as we move across the country! Love all you guys at Geek and Sundry and Critical Role <3
The beat D&D game show on the internet! So glad that we now have the option to listen to the episodes in audio form as well! :) Love it! Audio issues improve as the episodes go on. Stick with it, it is worth it! Amazing voice acting and storytelling!!
...better than all the rest. OG twitch watcher/G&S subscriber here. Huge fan and anxiously awaiting Marisha's promised "new episodes on weekdays". Vox Machina!
One of the greatest D&D shows, and my personal favorite, is finally in my favorite form of media. Head up to people who have not watched/ listened to the first few episodes, they did have technical problems because they live streamed the video and audio. The audio is also not the best quality at the beginning, but it gets a lot better in later episodes.
The most entertaining few hours you will find on any podcast. Dnd fan or not you will be sucked in by the comedy, adventure and drama and be hooked the first episode. Who needs an audio book when you have vox machina!
Amazing story and characters. Mercer's fantasy world is truly astounding; he has a fantastic ability to paint beautiful scenes and tense action through his storytelling and 100's of unique NPC characters. Laugh out loud funny and tear jerking at times. All people on the show are professional voice actors, which greatly adds the immersion in the story and character development. Long time twitch stream viewer and subscriber, but I am so glad to see this in podcast form. The show does suffer from a few audio quality issues in early episodes.
My friends have been huge fans for a while, and I have been waiting for the chance to check it out. Now that it's in audio only format, I can catch up. This is a truly enjoyable experience that I would recommend to anyone with even a passing interest in D&D. Fun, funny and smart, it will draw you in and make you eager to play in your own game.
Critical Role is far and away the best roleplaying experience on the internet, and now you can take it anywhere. If you are reading this and have not seen the show before, prepare for a wild ride. We are all envious of you.
I wanted to like this, but it is hard when people are obviously ruffling bags of chips, chewing next to the microphone with their mouth open, slurping soda, talking all at the same time, and playing bad music on their phones that sometimes overpowers the dialogue. The voice acting is great, but the audio is so poor that it doesn't make up for it.
Have been watching since the beginning. Will never get enough.
I'm completely caught up on Critical Role, but I'm excited to relive the fun of these characters at the (near) beginning with the podcasts!!
Great to have another way to "watch" critical role. Great way to have it on while working.
I watch the show every week, and am very excited to relive the memories of Vox Machina's exploits! Thank you for bringing these to podcast form. Brilliant stories, amazing talents and great fun.
What an amazing gathering of friends (Also great voice actors!). They really know how to play off of one another and make a great story. So glad I can listen to this on podcast now. Thank you Vox Machina!!!
I am really happy to have these to listen to on the drive now. Will the rest of the series be going up?
Fabulous story, amazing characters, hilarious moments and edge of your seat drama.
Can't wait for the rest Timberlake uploaded!
Just need them to get more up so I can switch from YouTube to this to catch up properly so I can start watching live.
I am new to this podcast/series, and only started playing D&D a couple months ago. The world and characters are fun, engaging, imaginative and clever. I laugh out loud at some of the antics and look forward to what might happen next!
I have loved Critical Role for over a year now, but I do not always have the time to watch episodes on my laptop or YouTube and have been hoping for them to release it in an audio format for awhile now.
Found and quickly became a fan of Critical Role at the beginning of this year. Hands down the best D&D show on the internet. Cast is amazing and fully embraces their characters, and Matt Mercer as the incredible DM captivates and immerses you into the world of Exandria.
Fun and moving storytelling. Starts off intimidating but it's not long before it hooks you and burn though the hundreds of hours of content and are waiting for Thursday.
Seriously. Thank you for doing this!!! It's helpful for the long road trips and moments I'll be stuck in traffic! 💜😍👏🏼👌🏼
Very good cast of people playing D&D. Productive and to the point, not a lot of time discussing rules and possibilities. They stay in character very well which makes it a more enjoyable storytelling experience for a podcast.
I only started watching the backlog of Critical Role on Geek & Sundry's Website 18 months ago. At the time my cell service didn't offer unlimited data. To my wife's chagrin I could not stop watching no matter how high it made my bill. In the last 18 months I have watched every episode from 1 to 75 before I caught up and now eagerly await each new episode. After 90 I decided to start re-watching the series for a second time. Currently at 3 I am happily going to listen to them again in Podcast form instead! Matt Mercer is one of the three best DMs in the world right now and any good DM knows the number one reason for your skills are the people around you playing the game!!!
Mercer is a top shelf DM and I don't even think he is human, I have heard him do so many voices.
I'll be honest, the audio does a fantastic job but you will miss out on the little facial expressions, the inside jokes via looks, and the sick battle maps. Mercer prefers the battle space of the mind but with a large party he does use dwarven forge maps. All in all amazing!
I've been a fan of critical role for about a year and a half now and I'm so glad they decided to make the show into a podcast. I love these characters and Matthew Mercer is a brilliant story teller.
Now I can start to get caught up while gardening and the like - yay!!
I love being able to listen to Critical Role at work and in my car. I am caught up on the current episodes and this is the perfect opportunity to rewatch (or listen!) to such a wonderful and entertaining D&D campaign. If you love great storytelling and haven't watched it yet, I would recommend it!
I'm so happy to see this done! I'd been ripping the audio from saved videos for a while, but it's tough to recommend others listen to the show the same way. This removes this problem and will be great for more people to start following the show.
I have watched critical role for a while now and I always love it...
I commute a lot, and using data to listen to YouTube sucked, plus it was a pain to always get back to where I stopped listening. Using the podcast app is so much better. Thank you!! Keep the episodes coming!!!!
So happy :)
Favorite D&D session brought to the masses now through Itunes. Looking forward to more episodes.
I have trouble focusing on the YouTube videos so it's great I can listen to this as a podcast now!!
I have spent so many hours watching Critical Role. I can't wait to spend more listening to it now it's on podcast. Do yourself a favor and listen. It will change your life.
I've seen all episodes. I was enraptured from the start. I look forward to the podcast version.
Hands down one of the best live play D&D out there
So excited to be able to save episodes on my phone to re-listen without using data. Huge thanks to the CR cast and G&S for making this possible.
The cast of Critical Role are just a hoot! Listening to them makes me feel like I can achieve anything!
I started listening and watching and my life changed for the better. My skin is clear, my crops are growing, and my livestock is thriving.
This is an instant subscribe- since the beginning, people that don't have a schedule that will allow them to watch the video version (which by all means, you should if you can!) have had to miss out on a wonderful story told by wonderful people to a wonderful community- but now, no longer must we be on the outside of Critterdom! If you're a fan of the work of Matthew Mercer, Liam O'Brien, Sam Riegel, Travis Willingham, Laura Bailey, Marisha Ray, Ashley Johnson, Taliesin Jaffe, and several special guests (Trust me, you're already a fan), you'll be right at home. The first few episodes are a little rough on sound (at least I assume so from having watched them in video form), but it's because it's an experiment in progress. It quickly gets worked out. Enjoy!
Never written a review before, but I will happily do it for my favorite D&D show that I listen to. Would definitely recommend to anyone who loves anything D&D. One of the best shows I listen to.
I have been wanting a podcast form of critical role for so long! I am now re listening to the show while at work. Thank you G&S
Best thing ever!!!!
I stumbled onto Critical Role nearly a year ago and it has kept me laughing through some tough times (and makes me cry during the really emotional parts!). I had never played D&D but Critical Role got me to buy my first set of dice. I'm so glad that I don't have to download these episode off the internet and store them on my phone or eat up my mobile data to stream it! I've already listened to many of the episodes more than once. These people are great actors, not just great voice actors! There's more passion and story in these than any show you'll watch on TV. Download all of them right now!
Always a joy to listen to these folks
I've been trying to figure out a way to get CR on my ipod so I could listen at work for ages, going so far as to try and figure out how to download the videos from youtube (and failing). Thank you Geek and Sundry for finally doing this!
I love this show but sometimes it's inconvenient to watch the lengthy episodes all at once so I'm glad there's an audio option for listening on the go now! Would highly recommend watching the vids to those who can.
I've been struggling to catch up to the live stream, I'm so happy it'll be easier to go back and listen to old episodes. This show helped me get into D&D!
Worthy of all fans to follow.
Love Critical Role! Been watching for a long time, it's great to go back and relive the adventure in podcast form
This is the best show ever. I never miss an episode.
So happy to finally have this in a podcast form. I've been waiting for this for so long. I haven't had the time to sit down and catch up by watching YouTube nor the data to stream it while I'm working. Though with the 60 something episodes under my belt, I cannot recommend this show enough. It's a brilliant way to introduce newcomers at how fun, crazy, and cool DnD really is.
To have my favorite characters in pocket-size. Do you like great storytelling? Do you like D&D? Do you like voice actors being hysterical? Then you will like Critical Role. It has drama, action, humor, and amazing characters. Just listen already!
I've been waiting for this for 2 years! Thank you!
Critical Role is so fantastic, and I'm so excited to be able to listen to it all over again!!! Thanks for doing this Geek & Sundry
I have spent many hours listening to the audio only feed from twitch on my phone. I am so glad to have this incredible series in an easy to access form
I have been watching this with my wife since the beginning! So excited to see it's on a podcast format now. I hope this becomes a trend so I can listen to my favorite rag tag group of adventurers on those long commutes!
I have been binging YouTube videos to catch up after discovering CR. Pumped to be able to listen on the go. Mercer builds a full world for the players to inhabit and interact with.
Watch the show, listen to the show. Same difference. Talented actors, fantastic gameplay, beautiful people, a blossoming friendly community. Get into it as fast as you can. Quality podcast. Sound quality is good, and gets better as the podcast goes on. ... Not sure about this Ram Seagull character though. <- in joke.
Best d&d show finally on podcast!
I have been watching since august 2015 and it has been an incredible ride. Excellent art, excellent role playing, amazing story line. Cheers to you all, crew, role players and Mr. Mercer. Your silly game has touched so many. Much love and respect.
Great to see it as a podcast as well as a great YouTube/Twitch show
I've been watching this show for a LONG time and my only complaint has ever been 'why isn't there an audio only version that i can download'. Well, i can't ask that any longer and i look forward to reliving all of my favorite moments with Vox Machina and the crew at G&S in audio!
To be able to relive episodes of Critical Role in audio format in the car is everything I want from life!
I have been watching this show for about a year or so. I'm really excited to be able to listen to it via audio only, and not have to download and convert it anymore. :D
