Great idea - solid content - but horrible audio quality. Worst sounding podcast I’ve heard anywhere. That kinda matters given the topic....!
I have been a fan of this podcast almost from day one. I was already a fan when they interviewed Eddie Trunk! These guys really know their stuff, and even though their KISS fandom makes me roll my eyes on ocassion, I love their chemistry. After the years the quality of their show has only improved. I do have to take some points off for a couple of things: a. Minus 1/2 star for Aaron saying that Duff McKagan could outplay John Deacon. Sorry, but no. b. Minus 1 star for making a scum of the Earth guy a Geek of the Week. After all that, I will give them one star back for having the courage to make an episode about worst KISS songs. This one I enjoyed a lot. All this comes up to 4 1/2 stars, but I'll give them the whole 5. I know they'll make up for that in the future. Rock On Chris and Aaron!
The number one podcast in the world.....no, The Universe! I don’t need a poll to tell me, I’m an Gino freaking Ames and I know this kind thing! Some day I can only hope the guys will have me on so we can chat tunes! Keep up the awesome universe changing experience!
I’m glad I found this podcast. I can listen to stories and info about KISS for hours on end, which is what I’ve been doing at work for the past week since I started listening. I loved the Michael Wagener albums unleashed. Especially the two Skid Row albums and also Carnival of Souls one which. I would give this podcast 5 stars but I can’t just because they wasted time doing a Kid Rock albums unleashed. I hate Kid Rock more than anything. Keep up the good work and please please stop listening to Kid Rock. He’s the worst thing that could’ve happened to music in general.
Let’s face it, there are a ton of rock/metal podcasts out there. I’ve listened to a bunch but none of them seemed to really stick...until I found the Decibel Geek Podcast. Chris and Aaron have a great show here. The guests are great, but so are the shows with just Chris and Aaron. My favorite episodes though are the Albums Unleashed. Everything about the DGP is spot-on, but it all boils down to the two hosts. These guys are knowledgeable, funny, and they don’t seem to take themselves too seriously. It’s all in good fun and all about the bands and music we love. I’d give it 6 stars if that was an option.
Chris & Aaron put all their passion into this podcast, there has never been a better one in my opinion & I’ve listened to many before stumbling upon this one. These guys totally speak my language. I’m happy & jealous of them because I wish I can be talking with them & joining in on the conversation. I just want to jump through my speaker , crack one open with them & talk some good rockin music ! Listen to this podcast, but be forewarned ITS ADDICTING!!!! Joey Espo New Haven Ct.
Chris and Aaron, you guys outdid yourselves with the Damon Johnson interview. What a great guy he is, with great stories to tell. Keep 'em coming! For listeners: Chris and Aaron are rock fans, yes, but candid ones. And they bring unique stories to the podcast universe, such as their Albums Unleashed series. If you like rock music, you should give this podcast a try.
Decibel Geek is awesome!!! Chris and Aaron are great guys, they know how to put on an awesome Expo, and they know how to show their fans a great time. That has been guitar player and that horrendous Kiss podcast that we won’t mention have no idea what they’re talking about. I discovered them through Ralph and Ian from the Rock & Metal Combat Podcast. I got to experience and participate in the First Rock & Pod Expo last year in Nashville. I had a great time and I got to meet all kinds of cool people and purchase some awesome vinyl. Chris and Aaron were also generous enough to let me come hangout with them, Ralph, and Ian at the Decibel Geek headquarters the Sunday after the Expo. I already booked my room for Rock & Pod 2 and I’ll see you guys in August. Rock on Brothers!!! Scott Stine🤘😝
Great show for Fans of Rock & Metal by hosts that are fans of Rock & Metal! AAron and Chris have great chemistry and keep the show exciting as well as informative. 5 Stars!
Found this podcast a few weeks ago. My favorite genre of music hosted by two really cool and knowledgeable guys. Tora Tora-Wild America and Warrant-Dog Eat Dog are two of my all time fav albums. Really cool in depth analysis and discussion celebrating those two classic albums. Great job guys! Now Looking forward to catching up on all the episodes I missed!
Great interview with Vinnie Vincent🤘🏻I started listening last month after listening to Talk Toomey recently. Anyone into rock music should check these guys out!
Talk about bringing back memories. What a great debut album by the Bulletboys. I remember buying the cassette when released and played the hell out of it. Great from top to bottom, still play it 30 yrs later. Chris and Aaron always do a great job and know their stuff. They always bring out the best of each other and their guests. Cool stories from Mick about the album. Love the albums unleashed episodes!! Awesome podcast guys, keep up the great job👍🏻🤘🏻 Keith Rochford
I recently started listening to podcasts as my job now involves me to be on the road about half of the time. Still catching up with all of the available episodes but so far my favs have been the one about RATT and the other would be the KISS "Demolicious" episode. I'm 47 years old and still love KISS, RATT, Motley, Priest, etc. as much as ever. I live (and grew up) in Mississippi. We used to anxiously await the monthly issues of Circus magazine, which was about the only way to find out anything about any of the rock bands back then. It is amazing how things have changed. I love hearing all of the interesting tidbits of info that i never knew about before. In particular the info that you guys have about KISS alone is mind blowing ! Keep up the good work.
An occasional listener, decent podcast. Even if the 3 Sides story isn't true, kudos to Decibel Geek for calling them out.
Loved the show....no drama lol! Hopefully I will meet you in Nashville this year. Keep up the great work! Ken from Kissfaq Podcast
Great music, great interviews and great talk!!! Chris & Aaron are the best!!! As a loyal listener & V.I.P. I'm here to tell ya these guys are the REAL deal and great friends!!! Chris drove the getaway car when I egged Sammy Hagar's house and Aaron hepled me sell my "product" to all of Ugly Kid Joe's road crew!!! So do yourself a favor at meet these fine men at The Nashville Rock N Pod Expo 2!!! Hopefully thery're not next to those jerks from The Rock & Metal Combat Podcast!!! Your truly, Rockin' Ron's probation officer
When it comes to music podcasts they all seem to follow the leader which is D. G. From the format they follow to the guest they try and get. You know your the leader when other podcasts consider you experts and call you live on their shows. No one can match the chemistry that Aaron and Chris have as well as the knowledge that could stump even the biggest Trunk. There’s only one podcast that Im always checking for a new episode of and that’s the D. G. Podcast. Can I give a 10 star review?
I have been looking for a new podcast on Kiss and other rock groups and related issues. The other podcast I have listen to didn’t hold my attention, and I respect you guys on how you handle the Vinnie Vincent issues.Yes I read a lot of those post. And it Inspired me to write a positive one myself. But you guys really make listening a pleasure. Very informative and enjoyable. You are my new go to! I will spread the word.
I've been listening to podcasts since 2005 & tried to find rock podcasts. There were a handful out there but they weren't quite what I was looking for. Finally I found Decibel Geek & they checked all the boxes on my list! Chris & Aaron have great chemistry & passion for music. The show has everything you want the music you love, the hidden gems you missed back ing the day, & the amazing new music that's needs to be played for the world. They do great interviews with players big & small in the industry. Even if it's just the two bantering, it's always entertaining. If creating a great podcast isn't enough. They've started a movement of fellow podcasts & an exhaustively rewarding website full of all the content you need. Decibel Geek is the hub for all the music content you need. Thanks to Decibel Geek I'm listening to more music than ever. Thanks for all the hard work, guys.
This pod cast gets a five star just for turning me onto Orchid! Can’t even begin to imagine the prep time these guys put into a show bringing a great wealth of knowledge ,humor and entertaining . It’s also refreshing to here a music related pod cast where the host does not talk about himself for half of it. Amazing variety of bands , songs , sounds , interesting bio , little known facts and even some useless information packed into each show. Their passion shows through on every pod cast!!!!! If your not a subscriber you are missing out.
Great chemistry between Chris and Aaron. Keep up the good work!
I know, what you want! You want, what I got! And that's a 5 star review. This is a great podcast, I love the Albums Unleashed features, the multitude of Vinnie Vincent shows, and the annual KISSmas in July specials. This show has turned me on to some bands I didn't know much about, specifically Tora Tora and Roxy Blue, which I had only read about before. I can't recommend this podcast enough.
These guys generally have great guests and keep it flowing. Love the Kissmas episodes but also the people behind the scenes getting a larger view of what happened. Great job guys.
Always a fun listen with Aaron and Chris. Professional sounding and good conversation. Long live Decibel Geek!
Love to listen to these guys. CHRIS AND AARON .. great tag team and love the for the music is in their hearts !!!keep it up guys
Chris and Aaron do not only have extensive knowledge about the bands and musicians they speak to, and about, BUT it’s like they’re reading my mind with every question, every song. They just seem to know what WE want to know. Donnie Vie interview was beyond incredible and this up and coming expo they’ve put together is just more proof that his podcast is a step above the rest. Subscribe or get left in the dust. We are are in the KNOW!
Chris & Aaron (in addition to being some of our finest citizens) know their stuff and they also know what they like. With a guest roster I am jealous of plus a true passion for Rock, it's a no-brainer that you must listen and subscribe.
Chris and Aaron keep the torch alight for hard rock and metal fans. The interviews are especially excellent and the episodes focused on Kiss-related topics are good and juicy. They've built a passionate community that appreciates what they're doing and how they do it.
First class all the way!
If you listen to music podcast and this is not the first one you go to every week, rearrange your pod schedule. Aaron and Chris do it right! A rock and roll news show good enough to be nationally syndicated.
Can't wait to meet at the Rock N' Pod
Decibel Geek podcast is one of the best, too shelf music related podcasts out there. It's well produced (something that isn't always easy to find) and we'll researched. They cover all kinds of rock and roll from the late '60's to today. Their bread and butter are hard rock, KISS and '70's and some '80's metal. Great hosts that are naturals behind the microphone. I'm so glad I found this podcast. Between the Rock and Metal Combat podcast (friends of theirs) and Kisstory Science Theater I'm set for my music podcasts needs. Keep it up boys and people spread the word!
Get your weekly dose of Hard Rock and Metal.. and Plenty of KISS! These guys do a great variety of topics and review tons of Music! Love the KISSmas in July episodes! And tune in to the RUSH Covered in Metal episode, to check out their "heavy" RUSH tunes. It made me go back and give them another listen! Keep up the Great work Guys! A MUST LISTEN PODCAST FOR ROCK FANS!
I loved the Desmond child episode especially.
Kissmas in July...A+!!! Its Only Rock And Roll All Night...And I Like It!
Just recently stumbled across Decibel Geek because I haven't been able to get enough KISS lately. Looks like I picked the right month to get on board with KISSmass in July going on. The last two episodes were awesome! In the immortal words of Joe Dirt "I'm a rocker dude, through and through" and even though KISS was my first love I look forward to getting caught up on the rest of the episodes.
The digital landscape is filled with rock and metal podcasts. Decibel Geek Podcast outshines them all. Hosts, Chris and Aaron are regular guys who are passionate about rock and metal, and it shows. This is something they do because they love the music, and have for years. They have an extensive working knowledge of the genres and use that knowledge along with research and effort to produce high quality content. Not satisfied with the same format for each episode, Decibel Geek is presented with different but recurring themes that are both informative and entertaining. They pay homage to the rock and metal artists and icons of the past, shine a spotlight on the artists of today, and champion the lesser known artists who just might become the Van Halens or Judas Priests of tomorrow. You wanted the best and you've got it. The hottest podcast in the land, Decibel Geek.
The albums unleashed shows are insanely good!! Love that they don't do the obvious albums. John Corabi on Motley 94 was my favorite show. My 2nd concert ever was Lita Ford/Tuff. Loved the Stevie Rachelle show even though was never a huge fan. After the show it made me buy that album. If you guys continue to refine your craft, one day you might be half as good as Michael Butler.
The hosts know their music history! Dang, and I thought I was pretty well-read... I feel like a novice now after listening to the hosts and their guest (?) Sonny! Great chemistry between you 3! Do some more podcasts together and thanks for introducing Restrayned! They definitely got potential... And loved Halestorm discussion! You got a new listener! Thanks also for keeping it clean so wife and I can listen (gotta introduce her to rock that's not just played on mainstream radio lol)...
These guys are fantastic. You can tell when a host is just doing his job and when a host lives the life. These guys live it and own it. While they do their research to get the exact details, it is clear that they know their stuff. They are a wealth of rock history and connections. Thanks to DBG Podcast, I have found the band Volbeat, and have been reminded of some long-forgotten gems from my childhood, like Slik Toxik. They have allowed me to go back to some of my favorite bands and listen to them with new ears because of what I have learned on this podcast. The fact that I am only a year or two older than the hosts makes it even better, since we had many of the same experiences growing up. As a fan-boy of Poison myself, having seen Poison live 19 times and Bret and CC live solo a combined total of 5 times, I can appreciate their enthusiasm for Kiss. What makes it even better is that for as much as they gush about their favorite band, they also find fault with Kiss and its members in almost every episode. AND THIS IS REFRESHING, because even as rabid fans, we can see and accept the faults and failures of the bands we idolize. Well done, gentlemen. I am quickly catching up with the backlog, and can't wait for more metal. Keep it real.
Chris and Aaron never fail to get the blood pumping! Are you a fan of classic rock, metal, hair metal, etc?? THEN DONT DELAY!!! Check out the Decibel Geek Podcast, where there's always time to rock n roll all nite!!!! This podcast goes up to 11!!!
I connect with the Decibel Geeks on many levels, because much like myself they are just normal guys that grew up on and love Hard Rock and Metal music. What is better that being able to share your memories and discuss your love of rockin music? They explore the past as well as help keep you informed about newer bands and some of our favorite older bands with new music out. They wave the flag of real rock and keep the torch alive. Do yourself a favorite and subscribe and download some great entertaining rock and roll insight.
...And your taste in music tended towards the hard rock/heavy metal end of the musical spectrum. This podcast has got you covered if you long for the days of spandex, makeup and the loud glorious noise of the sunset strip. Not limited to only "hair metal", Chris and Aaron are terrific hosts and are extremely knowledgable in all things rock and metal from all eras, bringing humor and passion for the music to the proceedings. And if you're a KISS fan like me these guys certainly have talked about that band more than a few times. I strongly recommend this podcast.
Chris and Aaron are two of the best personalities in the podcast game! Tons of research and even more enthusiasm make this the only music podcast you need in your life! Subscribe and keep it frosty my friends. #BYB.
All day long I walk the streets for money. I deliver the mail all over the east side of Madison Wi. And this podcast is absolutely brilliant. Keeps me entertained all day long. I am also a huge KISS fan. So any KISS related podcasts are always awesome. Keep up the great work!
Do ya want to go on a Rocket Ride? Let Chris and Aaron shock you with what's on their insane mind. These guys are calling to you to remember back when you were in school and spinning some Hard Rock/Metal acorns that we haven't heard in a while. So, break out of your normal routine, forget about the hard times, pour yourself a cold gin and give a listen to this AWESOME podcast. Keep up the great work! I just became a VIP and I'm super excited!!! ACE IS KING!!! Thanks, Sonny Pooni
I discovered this podcast doing a general hard/metal music search and after a couple of episodes, i was on board entirely! The year in review shows as well as their weekly mention of KISS, these guys are entertaining as hell, rock on!
They have turned me onto so many bands that I didn't know existed. I can't even count the number. But my favorite may be the ALBUMS UNLEASHED. Just awesome work guys. Keep it up!
If you're looking for great music and conversation look no further. Excellent guests with real stories and music that matters. I make it a point to listen to at least one episode every day. It's shows like this that prove rock n roll is alive and well!!
Found the Decibel Geeks when they did a guest shot on Inappropriate Earl podcast and figured I'd give them a chance. After all, anyone who talks fondly about the Vinnie Vincent Invasion can't be that bad... Needless to say I was hooked after two episodes and have now begun my journey through the archives! I love the open format of the show. Whether they are introducing me to obscure bands and songs I've never heard of before, or giving their own personal insights to the music I grew up with (I'm 43 - so do your own math ;p), each episode has been a fun ride. A few years ago, Gene Simmins claimed "Rock & Roll is dead"... but with guys like the Decibel Geeks serving as Defenders of the Faith, the Spirit of Rock will Keep on Rollin' and give you a Reason to Live! Ok, enough bad puns. Give them a listen and let them take you Over the Edge! Up the Irons! \m/
I just found this podcast today and am currently on my 4th episode. I've heard enough to know I'll be digging way back in the episodes. Work flew by today for me!! Thanks guys, great show so far!! Will be definitely looking forward to hearing more tomorrow.
I have been a fan for a few years now, but just finally moved to an Itunes account for my music storage. One of the first orders of business on my account is a way overdue 5***** review of the awesome Decibel Geek Podcast. Chris and Aaron work very hard to provide us with a musical Oddysey every week! This is a very well planned, and professionally executed show. You would think it was a major radio program by the quality sound and the lineup of guests they get. They have killer taste and relate to the fans because of their love of the music. Only one podcast can survive the weekly Trial By Fire to become King of The Mountain and that is the Decibel Geek Podcast!!! Thanks, Anthony Britt
Great podcast! They have finally hit their stride! For those of you who don't know, these dudes have been at this podcasting thing for quite some time. They may have changed their names since their original podcasts, but I was able to figure out their ruse. ("Czynszak" - really,... that's the best you could come up with?) You see back in the day, Chirs Sinsack and Aaron Pinto hosted a great YES podcast called "Close to the Edge of Our Lonely Hearts". Unfortunately, it only lasted a couple of episodes, because the shows lasted for 12 hours due to the self-indulgent nature of prog rock. ITunes cyber police pulled it for breaking bandwidth rules and the guys were without a show. A few months later, I stumbled on to a Juice Newton fanatics podcast called "Juice Box" and recognized some familiar voices. However, that show didn't last long either since Aaron kept falling asleep during the taping and because of the fact that there were only 3 listeners (Chris apparently had multiple accounts). Then I heard this fantastic podcast called Decibel Geek that covered all things Hard Rock & Metal (and covered it really well!). Although the names had been changed to protect the innocent, it was definitely Chris & Aaron. These guys do a hell of a job bringing fresh perspectives to the genre and a lot of it's sub-genres in the metal world. On a weekly basis you can expect great interviews, amazing knowledge of the bands & eras and lots of laughs with guys that seem like your friends back home. 5 starz all the way!
I discovered the Decibel Geek about a year ago when Joey Allen shared the "Dog Eat Dog" episode. I liked it so much that I went back in the archives to the very beginning and listened to all of the shows in order. I am now finally caught up, having listened to five years worth of shows in a span of just under one calendar year. While I do have a few fundamental differences of opinion with Chris and Aaron, the majority of my taste in music is perfectly aligned with theirs. I don't agree with the idea that late '80s era rock "hasn't aged well" (on the contrary, I think it has aged like a fine wine), and I love the slick and polished Desmond Child type production style. No, rock n' roll doesn't have to be perfect (but I think it's better when it is). But aside from those minor philosophical differences, I am pretty much on the same page with 90% of the things Chris and Aaron say and think about music. I also grew up on '80s Kiss (Animalize was the current album when I first started to really get heavily into the band). I really love the Eric Carr/Bruce Kulick years, and I don't think I have to apologize for liking the Crazy Nights album. I think that in its own way, '80s Kiss was every bit as great as '70s Kiss. While they had an entirely different sound that redfined the band during the non-makeup years, I think that both eras were equally great in their own way. I have enjoyed so many of the great interviews and albums unleashed episodes. I think the year in review episodes are some of my favorites. I understand how much time and effort goes into creating those, and I just want to say I very much appreciate it. So entertaining and fun to listen to. If I could please make a request for the theme of a future episodes : Would you please consider doing "The heavier side of Bon Jovi"? I realize Bon Jovi isn't exactly what you call a heavy band, but neither are The Beatles and you did a "Heavier side of The Beatles" (which I absolutely loved, by the way). I think that Bon Jovi (2nd only to Kiss on my list of all-time favorite bands/artists) has been unfairly labeled as "uncool" by way too many rocker types whose taste is the same as mine for the most part. If needed, I would be happy to suggest tracks to fit the theme. Maybe throw it out there for consideration on the Facebook page and take suggestions from other listeners as well. At any rate, love the show and look forward to new episodes every week. Keep rockin'!
I just started listening a last week. I listened to "1972 in Review" and that was cool! I grew up a Kiss fan. I loved that so much Kiss came up and the Casablanca insight. Also, I really enjoyed the Ratt/Alexi show! I had forgotten how great Ratt was. I'll be looking for some of those songs you guys played. I will going back and listening to more past shows (more than likely all of the past shows) as well as looking forward to your new ones. Thanks guy!
Great discussions and interviews. Love the mix of old, new and rare music. Keeps me entertained at work while I'm loading & unloading coal on my crazy train!
Your latest show featuring the music of Ratt with soccer player and analyst Alexi Lalas is one of the best podcasts I've ever listened to ! Thank you !
Thank you, thank you, thank you. This is my 2nd 5 Star review and it's well deserved. I'm a dedicated decibel geek and I live for all things hard rock and metal. But I'm also a cop. I've been a police officer for 23 years, and a metal head for many more years than that. My job is so misunderstood today by poplar media and the minions who willingly listen to their BS. It's awesome when we - police officers - catch an ounce of positivity. To catch some from you guys? MADE MY WEEK!!! Thank you for the support, the podcast, and for flying the flag - for metal, for rock, and for the men and women in blue putting it all on the line in every community around the country. You guys are the best.
I thought I knew a lot about Rock & Roll but this podcast has showed me how much more their is to learn!!
Decibel Geek was one of the first podcasts I started listening to and they have given me much to enjoy! Great interviews and Albums Unleashed on some of my favorites! Chris and Aaron have a good chemistry and while one loves Ugly Kid Joe way to much they both love KISS and that's fine by me! My absolute favorite episode is the episode on DaDa. Any show that does a full episode interviewing the GREAT Dick Wagner about the vastly underrated DaDa album has my glowing adoration. That album is so genius and overlooked and I am so glad that you guys interviewed him before he was gone about this gem! The John Corabi and Toby Wright (Carnival) interviews were great too, both albums are largely overlooked but the s/t Motley album is IMO their best and Carnival is easily in my top 3 KISS albums of all times, so to hear the behind the scenes stories was wonderful! Keep up the good work guys!
This is everything, everything, everything and a little Kiss. It's a sit back have a shot or 2 (followed by a beer) talking with friends feel to it.This is the podcast i've been looking for!!!.Thank you Rock Solid Podcast for turning me on to this.CAAAAAAAAN YOOOOOU DIIIIG IIIIIT!!!!!!!!....CHEERS!
discovered this podcast through Rock Solid and now I'm hooked! i love old school metal, love KISS and this podcast seems like it was made for a guy like me... cant wait to go back and catch up with all the past episodes.
I sure know something, if you want to rock and roll all nite and feel like a hooligan on a rocket ride, I want you to listen to Decibel Geek! Decibel Geek is not for the innocent and they shock me every episode. They have cool segments like “Radio Sucks”, “Year In Review”, and of course my favorite: “KISSMAS In July”. I love it loud and I will be there for every episode, I hope it never goes away! Take a swig of cold gin and raise your glasses to Chris & Aaron! Chris, the god of thunder, and Aaron, the king of the night time world, are killer, larger than life hosts! They have charisma and the magic touch that makes for terrific podcast hosts, and you know they do it all for the love of rock & roll. Other podcasts make me feel like I’m somewhere between heaven and hell, and I feel a little unholy like the devil is me. So when I feel like heaven's on fire and all hell's breakin' loose, I crank Decibel Geek and they drag me out of that rock and roll hell and make me feel like an all American man again! Whether you are a freak, almost human, young and wasted, secretly cruel, or even a good girl gone bad who is murder in high-heels, after you listen to Decibel Geek you will say “yeah“ and “gimme more“! You will stand up, put your hand on your heart of chrome, and scream “I pledge allegiance to the state of rock & roll”! I told all my crazy friends; Little Caesar, Mr. Blackwell, and Mr. Speed about Decibel Geek, and now they know what makes the world go round. Decibel Geek gives them a reason to live and makes them cry out “I‘m alive“! I confess, I even got my wife to listen to Decibel Geek. I do anything for my baby and I love her all I can, so one night I told her to listen to Decibel Geek. She said she had great expectations for the podcast and told me that tomorrow and tonight, while the city sleeps, she would listen. The next morning she exclaimed that Decibel Geek gave her thrills in the night! She looked at me and said “You're all that I want, c'mon and love me”! She's so European! I replied “I was made for lovin' you” then she kissed me. Ahhhh….kissin’ time….I felt like the king of the mountain! So tell everyone rockin' in the USA about Decibel Geek. Shout it out loud to all the creatures of the night having crazy crazy nights. Tell the flaming youth in the naked city that Chris & Aaron are the best. Tell all the ladies-in-waiting in the ladies room; Shandi, Beth, and even that modern day Delilah: Christine Sixteen that Decibel Geek is hotter than hell! Any way you slice it Decibel Geek is outta this world and a million to one, so give them a listen…..you got nothin’ to lose! I hope this podcast lasts forever, or at least 100,000 years!
If you thought math in an audio podcast form sounds boring, check this podcast out. The Decimal Geeks turn math into a radio play with numbers. You are so absorbed by the comedy and soundscape that you subliminally learn all kinds of neat math tricks. Example: To quickly multiply by 5, dive the number in two and then multiply it by 10. The hosts Chris SynchMath and Aaron CosineMajor really make math fun… and ALMOST cool. All my friends at the University of Wisconsin—Madison listen but show is great for students at any level. And give the show a try, even if you don’t think you like math. As they say at the end of each show: "The Hypotenuse has a square on, which is equal Pythagoras instructed, to the sum of the squares on the other two sides If a triangle is cleverly constructed.”
I found this podcast about 6 months ago and FINALLY caught up on back episodes. I love what these guys (Chris & Aaron) do, but my hat is off to them for their in depth exploration of all things KISS. KISS is not the only band they cover, but it is one of their favorite bands, so many episodes including a month long KISSmas in July are dedicated to The Hottest Band in The World. Fear not, whether it's KISS or any other band, these guys aren't simply ball washing fans. They try to be respctful when interviewing guests, but also spend a lot of time talking to behind the scenes guys (managers, roadies, ex-wives, former band mates, friends etc.) in an effort to uncover things diehard fans want to know. I've been a KISS fan for 35 years and feel my knowledge of the band runs pretty deep, but these guys have uncovered a lot of things I'd never heard before and honestly some of it is not always easy to hear. This is the depth of information and knowledge they as fans try to bring to each podcast. Subsribe and enjoy. You'll be glad you did. Neil Johnson
This is my go to podcast for all things rock! Aaron and Chris are AWESOME and the shows are very well done! Great new music, great classic music ... Great hosts! Do yourself a favor and subscribe now!
I said honey that ain't no pistol. It's the Decibel Geek Podcast
I've been listening to the Decibel Geek podcast for the past few years. Chris and Aaron have done so many fantastic interviews with musicians that respect and admire. I am a big Kiss fan that especially enjoys the Kissmas in July episodes. The Decibel Geek is definitely one of my absolute favorite podcasts out of all of the podcasts that I listen to. Keep up the great work Chris and Aaron. John in Central California
Cool podcast. Chris and Aaron have amazing chemistry and even if I don't care about the topic, I still try and listen because I like the hosts. Keep up the good work...just please never let the guy that co-hosted the KISS Shoulda Been A Single episode on ever again. If there is anyone with lower energy than that guy, please tell me who !!!
Hey Guys. Great work with the music history. Really enjoy the "Year in Review" episodes but, honestly, all the episodes are fun and engaging too. Just spent an entire weekend listening to as many episodes as I could squeeze in so please keep doing what you do. Up The Irons!
Tired of hearing the same old crap on terrestrial radio? Then check out The Decibel Geek Podcast. Chris and Aaron are like two old school FM deejays from the classic era when cool guys played cool music. Every time I listen to their show, I hear things I've never heard before and get turned on to cool stuff. They also do great interviews and shows like "Albums Unleashed," where they dig deep into classic albums with the people who made them and dissect those albums track by track, leaving no stone (or anecdote) unturned. Do yourself a favor if you love hard rock and/or heavy metal -- check out the Decibel Geek show. You'll be glad you did. ;)
Hard rock is my drug of choice and I’m always searching for my next high. Thank God for the Decibel Geeks and their Fresh Blood episodes. They turned me on to the Biters recently. I downloaded some tunes and was instantly hooked. Then I checked to see if they were on tour and discovered they were coming to my area next week! I’ll definitely be front row and adding a new tee shirt to my collection. I’ll tell them the Decibel Geek sent me. Thanks Aaron & Chris!
Always entertain and great chemistry between Chris and Aaron. ... and the music is great!!!
These two guys make listening to a metal podcast fun. Keep up the great work.
Warrant and Tora Tora record discussions, conversations with Mark Slaughter and Perry Richardson, hours upon hours of opinion on Vinnie Vincent? This is the greatest podcast in the recorded human history.
Whether it's music I already love or bands I've never heard of, or even bands that I've heard of but don't realize they're putting out newer material, these guys hit on all points. They have great guests (both literally and imaginary - VV was funny though), conduct thoughtful interviews with some of my favorite people (Sheehan, Wagener, Ryan Cook, etc. etc. etc.), and play really great material that isn't the same old crap other 80's hard rock shows still shove down your throat. They're also very supportive of the local Nashville, Tennessee community, which I dig a lot since I'm part of it. I love their overall approach, and always hear something new that I've never heard before every time I listen. Which as a result causes me to seek out more music from that artist. I've purchased items from their Amazon shop, and will continue to support this great entertaining podcast for as long as it's around. Great work guys! Hopefully one day I'll be able to hang with you all and sit in on the fun. - tyson
These guys do a great job. Love this podcast.
Killing some time while transitioning from one city to another I stumbled across this show by accident. I'm glad I did. I searched hard rock in iTunes and a breakdown of Warrant's Dog Eat Dog with producer Michael Wagener popped up. Being a huge fan of that perfect record I downloaded it to give it a shot. Wagener offered great insight and nuggets I had never known. The two hosts asked GREAT questions and they played most of an album I haven't heard in years. I went back and started picking off things that interested me. What I found was nothing less than brilliant. I had about 2800 CDs at the time. Having been re/introduced to things I'd never heard before or in years I went straight to the web and started buying music as if I had all the money in the world. I don't have all the money in the world. But I don't care as I have about a hundred more CDs as a direct result of this show. Who needs food? Music feeds my soul. These guys conduct great interviews and have been a great resource for hearing old forgotten classics. Just as important is they've introduced me to a lot of great new music. It's a great blend of memory lane and discovery street. Keep it up guys. You have a new subscriber and I will click through before purchasing anything on Amazon from now on. John
I used to think the db geek podcast was amongst the best, but over the last 2 years the shows are just less listenable. The topics sometimes inane, sometimes so hit or miss. It's one of those shows I still subscribe to, but listen to every 3rd or 4th show
Decibel Geek, for me, is a gateway podcaast. It is the first music podcast I ever listened to, and the first KISS related podcast I listened to. I'm now downloading The InterVView, and harken back to the first Vinnie Vincent podcast on this channel. It was my introduction to the Decibel Geek Show, and inevitably all the other KISS podcasts. I Thank You, Chris and AAron for providing me with endless entertainment, aand new music recomendations. Thanks Again.
I have to admit that I was never fully on board with Aerosmith and if someone would have asked me, are you a big fan of Aerosmith, I would have replied by saying not really. However, after listening to this episode, I now realize that I've been lying to myself all of these years. I've heard all of these songs at one time or another and dam, every one of these picks were killer!! You guys have made me realize that I AM a fan of Aerosmith and I need to go back and give them more love than I have over the years. You've changed me. Loved this episode and will listen again. Nicely done.
I've spent the past 3 months listening to the entire catalog produced by Chris and Aaron. Every morning before work I listen to this podcast and it fires me up for the day ahead! These are the guys you want to drink a beer with and talk about hard rock music non stop! Their in-depth interviews and top 5 lists are truly a delight to listen to. If you're into classic hard rock, you need to check these guys out! You won't be disappointed!
Great Hosts, and Great Content. Especially if your A KISS fan (I'm a so so fan). But, that doesn't stop me from loving and appreciating all that this podcast has to offer. I am so glad I found them, and can't wait for each and every time they release a new show. Cal-in-AZ
This podcast is awesome. It reminds me of rock radio of the past.
One of my favorite podcasts. I listen to them weekly and they make the workday go by so much faster. Chris and Aaron will bring up bands that no one has talked about since 1984 and make you remember why you loved them. A definite listen and love the Vinnie Vincent episoides.
Songs about school? Are you kidding me. The last 5 or six episodes have been really boring, please go back to playing cool songs. I don't know, I used to like it. Seems like you're trying news things, but the old ways are more fun to listen too.
Hey this is Aaron Baker here and i got a few awesome words to say about this amazing podcast and it goes like this: My Thursday tradition continues with this installment of The Decibel Geek Podcast and let me tell you what a podcast this is!! I may have plenty of Podcasts to listen to throughout the week but i always start off with the Decibel Geek Podcast and it just gets my day going from there!!! Aaron and Chris put their hearts and souls into every episodeand it shows ever week they thank the fans for supporting them through the years (may there be many more years of the Decibel Geek Podcast!!). Thank you guys for giving us hard rock and heavy metal fans such a great podcast and something we can use to prove Hard rock and Heavy Metal isn't dead just yet!!!!
I'm a middle aged married man who's friends have all gone their separate ways. My musical hey day was back in the mid to late 80's listening to bands like Kiss, Motley Crue, Guns n' Roses, AC/DC and any band that had hair past their shoulders and guitars that went to 11. A few years back I discovered the Decibel Geek podcast and suddenly, I was home again. It felt as if my hair had suddenly grew back All the bands I used to listen too were now joined by so many new ones I never heard before. Chris and Aaron hop in the time machine every week and play not only the songs I remember from my youth but new bands I never knew about as well. These guys do there homework every week and tell the stories you never knew about the bands you love. Hit the subscribe button and enjoy.
Wow. These guys deliver a show that has not only introduced me to new and obscure bands, but they lend a new perspective on the music I grew up listening to. The show caught my attention because they have really cool guests from time to time like Desmond Child and interesting producers who give personal accounts of the behind-the-scenes action on some classic albums. The first episode I caught was a Pink Floyd edition that focused on some of their deeper cuts, as opposed to the songs we all know. Not only was it great, but it reintroduced me to Floyd again. There's enough variety here to keep things rocking. I espectially love the episodes when they play entire songs from bands I know by heart mixed in with bands I've never heard. This show makes me miss the days of listening to rock radio. The production is solid and the guys have a firm grasp on the material. It can be funny as hell at times. Don't be afraid to subscribe to this if you like rock music and want a nice break from the mind numbing repition of modern radio. Don't miss it!!
Thank goodness for the Decibel Geek podcast. By far the best podcast on the net! I started out by listening to alot of the Kiss episodes.. After hearing how good those were Ive been listening to them all for the past 2 months. Your albums unleashed are some of the most interesting podcasts of all! Great choices on the albums you have featured! Im a UPS diver in Northern Indiana and you guys help me get through the day.. Ive downloaded all your podcasts and have pretty much heard every episode in the past couple of months! Im a huge KISS fan and a Huge Vinnie Vincent fan! The 6 part Vinnie episodes were so good! Cant wait for the 7th. Hopefully he will actually come on your show and give his side of the story. I met him on the Lick It Up Tour in Chicago! He couldnt have been a nicer guy to me and my friends.. Anyway I just wanted to say thank you guys for doing what you do.. Grat show!!
Hey guys, great podcast! I searched for Pantera and came across the podcast on Dime! We all sure miss him! Ever since I came across you guys, I really enjoy listening to you duing my work day and on the drive home! The classic to the new music you play is just awesome! I have to say I'm going to enjoy downloading all your podcasts and I'm definitely addicted! Thanks guys for all you do for us metal heads! Benzo in So-Cal
A while back, somebody asked me to listen to a podcast called Decibel Geek and see if I heard anything familiar about it. Well, I checked out the website and saw the host’s names, Chris Czynszak and Aaron Camaro did not ring a bell to me. But the content on the website had me really excited. So I decided to give it a shot. I clicked on the KISSMAS in July episode and nearly crapped my pants. That voice…. that voice…. it was like I stepped back into a time machine. I knew exactly who that voice belonged to! My long lost brother, Aaron!! When I heard his voice, I knew exactly this podcast was going to rock. And I was not wrong. A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…. (Yes, I used a Star Wars reference) there was this little kid that could not hold onto a softball bat. But grew up to be a head banging, beer drinking, ultimate KISS Fan! It seems like yesterday that he was only heard locally “Rock-in like a Pig”! Now he and Chris have a podcast that goes out all over the world! Ever since that KISSMAS in July episode, I have been a faithful listener and can’t wait to get my fix for the week. The rock-in dynamic between Aaron and Chris is just amazing. If you haven’t heard the podcast yet, can I ask, what the hell is wrong with you, click subscribe and rock out! So proud of you my brother!
I love this podcast. It's like talking to the dudes at my school that like metal and rock, except those dudes don't exist here in my Ohio town, since I'm only 14 I can't really do much other than talk to metal heads on the Internet and look for kids at school who are into metal (again, the latter is non existent).. There is rocker chicks though, and chicks attracted to rock n rollers, and that comes with some ... "Improper" benefits, hehehe. but that's beyond the point. This podcast talks about all the bands I love (kiss, Alice cooper, sabbath, motley crue, pantera, even down a few times) and I listen to it all the time, along with KST and R&MCP, which are two other podcasts I love. The holy trinity of podcasts, if you will. I know Chris & Aaron probably won't read this, but if they do ill be ecstatic because they are like the rocker friends I'll never meet
These guys are really dorky but I guess that's the point. They put tremendous care into this podcast and that's what keeps me listening every week.
Decibel Geek Broadcast is a great entry into the world of Rock and Podcast. The hosts have a good sense of humor and a great knowledge of Music. A fun show to listen to. Great job Guys! PodKISSt approved!
These guys dive deep into ye olde hard rock and metal. Good stuff.
Chris and Aaron are doing the whole music-podcast thing right: they’re witty, informative, and absolutely invested in the music they talk about. If you’re a fan of hard-driving, classic rock & roll, you need to be listening to this show. It’s not all reminiscence, either: I’ve learned about a TON of great NEW bands from them, as they often will use tracks from indie rock bands as push music. The production is topnotch, and the interviews they somehow manage to score definitely puts them in the “professional” category. It’s always a pleasure to laugh along with Aaron when I hear his understated chuckle when Chris or a guest gets a good zinger in. Added bonus: if you’re a Kiss fan, so are these guys, and there’s a lot of fanboy geek-out moments, even on shows not exclusively dedicated to Kiss.
Guys, I love your show. It its beautifully produced and sounds like it should be on the air. I enjoy your personalities and have something to like about every episode I’ve heard.
My favorite podcast! They play and talk about the music I love. Great guests and they often introduce me to hard rock/ metal music I haven't heard before.
Excellent show with stellar guests and fantastic informative interesting interviews! I'm a newcomer to the show, got turned onto you from Ian at rock and metal combat podcast and I'm glad i did! Im a huge Kiss fan and i love your show! Great show guys love it!
I drive a truck from 6pm to 6am and this is the perfect podcast to listen to for many hours. Aaron and Chris are GREAT hosts who, like me, grew up in the golden age of Rock, the 70s and 80s. Every episode not only has informative and funny discussions about the world of Hard Rock/Heavy Metal but, then they play the songs they are talking about. So, I not only get to hear some of my favorite songs but, have been turned on to numerous other bands/music from the late 60s up to today. After downloading the last ten episodes to start and ending up listening to them all in one night, I had to go back and download every episode from the beginning last week and I have already listened to over 50 and still loving every minute. If you are a fan of all things Hard Rock & Heavy Metal, THIS is the podcast for you. It's also an extra bonus if you are a fan of KISS because their KISS-themed and KISSmas in July episodes are among the BEST ever put on a podcast. Keep 'em comin', guys and Rock On \m/
Well done interviews and lots of great facts with many awesome guests. Two big thumbs up to the geeks \m/
I love the Decibel Geek podcast. These guys a huge music fans that get great guests that add cool insights to some of the best bands in the hard rock genre. I've been listening to them for some time now and they have really gotten good at what they do without being arrogant or talking over their guests. Chris and Aaron's chemistry and rapport always make for an entertaining listen while providing more backstory to your favorite band than you ever thought possible. My favorites are their Kissmas in July series ... Highly recommended.
Chris & Aaron are true hard rock/metal fans. Their love for the music really shows up in the podcast. From preparation to presentation they are first rate!!! If you’re a fan of this music you definitely need to subscribe!! Keep up the great work guys!!!
Guys, thanks for a great interview with Desmond Child. I've been a KISS fan since 1976. I've been hoping some KISS fans would interview Desmond Child for years now and the wait was worth it. Jay
I got pulled in by the Dada Albums unleashed episode and became a loyal follower. I now reek of Decibel Geek. How do you wash this stuff off? Seriously this is a great podcast with funny hosts that cover the music from the 80s and beyond, but do so in an informative and entertaining way. It's like hanging with some friends and waxing poetic about the albums we bought and the shows we attended in the good old days. I may not always agree, but I always enjoy! I love the interviews, and albums unleashed which both contain great insight and inside information you won't get anywhere else! Keep up the good work Chris and Aaron. Steve True
I spend quite a bit of time traveling the Western States for gainful employment. Between airplanes and rental cars, a person can get quite fatigued listening to grandma flapping her gums in the airplane seat next to you, or listening to Rush blowhard about his save the world ideals on the AM dial. Worse, is listening to Boston’s “More than a Feeling” for the 1,436,870th time on the radio. Enter the Geeks. With their unique choices in music playlist, ranging from the bizzaro to the deep cuts, they give your ears and brain a chance to catch something new, something you missed, or something you haven’t heard in a long time. Better are the interviewees they snag. This podcast isn’t part of the press circuit where you hear a person do the same interview on three different podcasts over two weeks. They find the people they want to know more about, assuming correctly so, that you do too. If you want to hear John Corabi talk for over an hour about each song for MC ’94, or Toby Wright actually say something nice about KISS, then this is your place. You want to hear GWAR sing the Pet Shop Boys, step on in. Want to hear some NWOBHM that isn’t Iron Maiden, they have you covered. Subscribe and Geek out. Chad P
Chris And Aaron are your go to guys for all things great music. It's true, rock is NOT dead. You just have to know where to look. And every week, I turn to the Decibel Geek Podcast!
Decibel Geek is quickly becoming my favorite podcast. While listening to these guys talk it reminds me of weekends during high school. My two best friends and I would drive around talking music often. The Tora Tora podcast was the best one yet. I first found out about decibel geek when I read about the John Corabi interview. Keep up the good work!
Awesome podcast..Chris and Aaron are a great team and bring lots cool differnent themed shows that keep it interesting.
You guys are like my long lost buddies from the 80's, except once the 90's hit they became yuppies and wouldn't even admit they went with me to see Keel and Black 'n Blue back in the day! I listen to your podcasts on my drive to work, and it's like listening to those conversations I used to have when people admitted they were Metalers. I am glad I found you. It sure beats having conversations with my wife about Dishwalla and Depeche Mode while NPR is playing in the background!
If you love your slice of 80's rock and the bands of that era then you will be blown away by this podcast!! One of the best shows on iTunes! Keep up the rockin' great work, Chris & Aaron!!
Once you start to listen for a while you feel like you know the podcasters, you feel like they're your buddies, DG is a great example of that. Great job guys, keep up the good work!
I don't have a Facebook page. But I want to say I love the podcast and spent Memorial Day listening to the new episode and catching up on some prior episodes. Awesome show guys, thanks Jay B aka (Motown Drummer)
This one of my Favorite Podcasts!!!! These guys do in depth research and have great insight. I highly recommend it!
I live in a small town in Michigan and there are not many like minded music listeners here. Chris and Arron have a great way of making you feel like you hanging out withold friends talking about the thing i love the most MUSIC. I enjoy hearing the songs of the past and have found some newer music too. Keep up the great work guys ! You Rock.
A very entertaining, irreverent podcast about Hard Rock & Heavy Metal. The hosts have amazing chemistry and are talented interviewers. Highly recommended.
Keep up the great work guys. I thoroughly enjoy the show!
Hi, this is Steve Jobs's turtleneck and you're reading an iTunes review for the Decibel Geek Podcast! Chris and Aaron work relentlessly to shed light on a lot of the rock and metal that gets ignored, and they do it with an obvious rapport that if you're into the genre (for lack of a less overwrought term) you'll likely be as entertained as I am. That said, if I had any bone of contention to pick it's with the recurring tendency to run down types of music which they don't like; less of that would be a good thing. Still, the show has enough bright spots to overcome that. Also, I appreciate that they have enough of a sense of humor that they don't take any of this too seriously. So yeah, five stars. Rock on.
A must listen for any rock and roll fan. Great hosts, guests and conversation.
Love the show guys, i love RnR, and pretty much dedicated my life to Rock since a young kid, so i relate to you guys very much. I subscribed to the Geek just over a month ago and have successfully listen to every single episode, so your voices have become very familiar, i drive over an hour to and from work everyday, so your podcast has been a blessing. Thank you for your dedication and hard work at keeping our kinda music alive and well, keep it up. I play in a band plus write and record my own original music, would like to send to you guys soon if all possible. Anyways keep up the hard work, and I'm definitely a big fan of the show, later guys...BK
Found this on Metal Sludge and Blabbermouth…..Great concept…I’m a fan
i found out about the decibel geel podcasts through a few other kiss-related podcasts and i'm glad i did! chris and aaron knock it out of the park week after week with this fun and informative podcast. some of the stand-out episodes have been the kiss related "discussion" episodes: top 5 paul stanley songs, the eric carr discussion, top 10 kiss guitar solos and the UNBELIEVABLE 5 part vinnie vincent discussion (it's not to be missed!). also, the DG guys have conducted some incredible interviews with guys like bruce kullick, toby wright, tom harper, ken barr, gary corbett, and peter "moose" oreckinto. while my favorite episodes have been the kiss related ones, DG has discussed bands like van halen, pantera, anthrax, and judas priest and every one of these episodes has been amazing and informative. you may not have heard of toddzilla, but you will definitely want to check out both of his episodes (the roth era VH discussion was top notch). lastly, i would recommend checking out ALL of the "year in review" podcasts as well. BIG thanks to chris and aaron!!!
This podcast drops a lot of knowledge and great music on you ! Be prepared to have your ears blown off and your face melted as you listen !
I hear great tunes I've never heard before everytime I listen. Keep the podcast comin'.
As far as I am concerned, this is the best podcast on iTunes. You'll not find a podcast that covers a wider variety of rock and metal anywhere. The facts that these guys are fellow KISS addicts is just icing on the cake.
Wow a rock n roll podcast that has a ton of content and a lot of laughs. If you don't listen to this podcast you are missing some great entertainment! Subscribe, do it, you know you want to!
been subsriber for 2 years or so. drive a truck and keeps me up in the 3 to 4 am part. keep it up guys, but do something bout nashville traffic geeez.
A great music podcast related to all things rock. Get turned on to bands you never heard of. Revisit music that you know and love. Hear great interviews from the artists and people who have worked for the bands talk about inside info that you never read about. I have listened to interviews with people I do not care much for and still loved it. Chris does a great deal of research and conducts a great interview. I cant forget Aaron. Aaron Camaro is the cohost and loves all things Metal and Hard Rock. I totally agree with him on Ugly Kid Joe. Here is hoping he plays "Sandwich" someday. Thanks for the shows guys!
I was fortunate to see KISS (23times), Vinnie Vincent (2Xs) & Frehley's Comet (2Xs). I look forward to future updates with Vinnie Vincent and would pay top dollar to see any of these guys play that era of material. Thanks for the great wealth of information. This pod cast is a must for any real fan of the entire KISS era. RIP Eric Carr
In addition to being an avid listener of Chris Czynszak's and AAron Camaro's excellent Decibel Geek Podcast for the past almost 3 years, I also had the pleasure of contributing writings and interviews to their website throughout 2012 and early 2013. Chris and AAron know rock and heavy metal like the backs of their hands and their interviews/discussions are well researched and very informative to say the very least. If you like intelligent rock and metal talk, then you've come to the right place.
The banter between Chris and Aaron is far better than you will hear on any hard rock podcast out there or "professional" radio etc. My gateway drug was one of their KISS related shows linked from kissfaq but their show is so much more than that. The chemistry and obvious love of what they are discussing makes me check every week for a new ep. You are listening to hard rock addicts like myself. The only thing I can compare this to is " That Metal Show" but better because of the depth and range of artists featured. The Year in Review shows are incredible. The fact that these two can put out a new ep every week on top of full time jobs and ( I assume) kids, family is amazing. That is all.
Decibel Geek is one of my favorite music podcasts, and it's getting better all the time. They listen to their fans and take suggestions regarding content, interview questions, etc. Chris and Aaron have a great comradery that is fun to listen to. Subscribe!
I'm leaving a review... Because that's how rock and roll this podcast is!! Keep rocking on!
Wow...this podcast is amazing and the host is really knowledgable. Keep up the good work. IT's a must listen.
These guys rock! If you love hard rock and/or heavy metal these are the guys to listen to. They have a heavy KISS slant but it's not all about KISS. They cover rock and metal from all kinds of angles and it's realy interesting. Both have all kinds of odd knowledge about the music and artists they love. I especially love the KISSmas in July episodes and can't wait for the 2014 version. You like Vinnie Vincent? They've done FIVE episodes dedicated to the man. Subscribe and ENJOY!!!
If you are a hard rock, metal and 80s music lover, you dont need to go anywhere else! These guys have it down and are on point with all the year reviews and check out ALL the bizzaro cover episodes, WOW.. john cash, beds are burning, and mr. sandman all covered by metal bands! There are some Gemz in there that I had to go and download right away!! excellent job guys!!!. Weekly episodes of current metal as well! The WHOLE Package for us and.... DEEP THOUGHTS!!!! those will make you laugh hard!!!! Metal, comedy, old, new.. its all here check them out!!!!
This has got to be the BEST Hard Rock and Heavy Metal PODCAST!!! I recently started listening to the site and feel lucky, because I have a bunch of episodes to get caught up on… Chris and Aaron do a great job of interviewing the people that lived or were associated with this lifestyle (Even if you don't care for a particular band they are interviewing its still fun to listen to the "behind the scene stories")… Every episode has them playing killer music that you wish the Radio DJs played (I am constantly buying songs they play, that I hadn't heard before)… You can't go wrong here if you love this kind of music… Strap your seat belt on and get ready for a Rocket Ride of Rock the way it SHOULD be presented!!!
Hosts Chris & Aaron get great interviews and play great music, what else could you want?
In the 80s, I was all about AC/DC... glad to find this podcast! It's what I liked and goes beyond into some harder stuff too. Good stuff.
I love this show. The chemistry is great and they know how dig up hidden rock gems that I end up really like and otherwise would have never heard. Keep on rockin DGP!
This is a phenomenal show! Kiss is my favorite band which is why I began listening to the show but the show covers such a wide variety of music. While it covers all of the hard rock/metal I love...you never know what you're going to hear. I even heard "Detachable Penis" by King Missle on one episode! I love all music & have been collecting music since the 70's & Chris & Aaron know their stuff.I was pretty blown away by the Shock Rock episode & hearing Screamin' Jay Hawkins,Arthur Brown, Alice Cooper, & the Stooges(all music I love) plus I got to hear Lorde for the first time & was impressed which brings up another point "NEW Had Rock/Metal Bands" are featured (Robot Lords of Tokyo & Screaming Eagles will be ordered this week after hearing them).
I look forward to downloading this podcast every week! The Vinnie Vincent episodes were classic. The guys seem to have fun and really enjoy doing the show. I really enjoy listening!
If your looking for podcast that plays great metal & hard rock with intelligent conversation & interviews look no further!! Chris & Aaron are true music fans that know what we want to hear. I think people like Eddie Trunk could learn a lot from these guys. The only negative is (if its even negative) that the podcast is only on once a week for only an hour. Of course I tend to be greedy!! Do yourself a favor & check out their past episodes. You won't be disappointed!! Keep it up guys, we love you!! LET ME GO, ROCK & ROLL!!!!
A friend turned me on to this podcast about a year ago. Since then, I've been feverishly trying to catchup on all of the shows. AAron and Chris bring a wealth of knowledge and entertainment to each week's show. Whether it's Kissmas in July, Aaron's Cutout Bin, or the Year in Reviews (my favorites), they never fail to deliver. Though I've been listening to this genre of music for 30+ years, I never fail to learn something new during each podcast. I never thought I would say this, but I look forward to Mondays when new podcasts are posted. As a Wisconsinite, I enjoy it when Aaron reminisces about his time in the state (I wonder if he ever made to T.A. Vern's??). Anyways, an excellent podcast produced by two fantastic hosts. Keep up the great work!!
awesome podcast here!!!!
I always have a great time listening to this podcast. Great music and informative banter between the two hosts make the hour breeze by.
I discovered the Decibel Geek podcast during this years Kissmas in July, and I was immediately hooked. Week after week, Chris and Aaron provide a prodigious program, so professional that at times, I forget I'm listening to a podacast and think I'm listening to the radio. Ahhh... but then I remember, radio programs about music haven't been this entertaining and interesting in a long long time. I graduated high school in 1983 and graduated bootcamp (USN) in 1985. I thoroughly enjoyed the 1985 year in review episodes. The highlight of that year for me was seeing KISS in concert for the first time in my life at the San Diego Sports Arena. I had been a fan of the band for almost a decade at that point, but never had a chance to see them in concert. So I will always have a soft spot for KISS Asylum. Btw, W.A.S.P. was the opening act. Anyway, Chris and Aaron, you keep on making a great podcast and I'll keep om listening.
Excellent Podcast. If you are looking for a "music" podcast and grew up in the 70's and 80's as I did, this is your podcast! If you are just reading this then you just missed "KISSmas in July" but don't worry there is always next July! Anyways, the hosts Chris and Aaron do an awesome job with interviews, song selections and stories from the classic era of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal!! Don't Sleep on this one....Download it NOW! Enjoy!
I really have been enjoying this podcast, It is very entertaining and well done. Chris and AAron have a nice chemistry and present interesting songs and info. They also have some cool interviews, and always make me laugh
For who wants to know, Bobby Rondinelli who went on to play with Rainbow in the early 80's, was one of the drummers auditioning along with Eric Carr.
THE BEST "Old-School"-Metal/Hard Rock podcast. The KISS-themed episodes rival many other podcasts devoted exclusively to the band. If Vinnie Vincent ever finds that perfect interview-wig, he should take it to these guys.
Enjoyable, Fun, Entertaining, Professional, Interesting.
I just discovered Decibel Geek and now I am starting at episode one. I love this Kiss history stuff, and all of the 80's metal/hard rock info.. Keep it up guys. thanks
Speaking as a child of the 80's... I stumbled upon this podcast and downloaded a few past episodes before subscribing. I really enjoy this podcast. It's a trip down memory lane and it's cool that the hosts are just about the same age as I am so I get all the references. Very cool. Thanks!
Great podcast, really enjoy the year in reviews.
Got turned on to them from a friend who does another podcast Rock Strikes ten. Very good chemistry between the two hosts. Just finished the 1986 shows. Loved to go back in time.
This is the podcast I look most forward to each week. Chris and Aaron have great taste and do some of the best interviews with rock musicians and producers. Usually I find the producers more interesting than the musicians! Keep up the great work guys!
great show, love the hosts and the discutions they have between themselves and their guests. if your a KISS fan or a metal/hard rock fan this is the show for you.
Simply the only thing I can say is, I can't wait until Thursday morning, I get To work at 5am, put on my headphone And that first hour flys bye. Thank you Guys for putting out a show once a week.
Love Music, SUBSCRIBE
For anybody who grew up with Headbangers Ball and Hit Parader, this is a must listen podcast. These guys know their stuff; a very entertaining and informative show...every time.
I grew up listening to 80's metal music thanks to Wally! I have been following this podcast for the past few months and have loved every minute of it! If you are a true 80"s metal head, or even a closet-metalhead, get on line and check it out! It will surely rejuvenate your lust for true metal rock! Come on, feel the noise!
The best rock pocast out there. Always entertaining guests and the hosts are knowlegeable. They always manage to snag some of the best names in the the Biz from bands I loved back in the day and still love today . Give it a listen you wont be dissappointed.
Great podcast for all lovers of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal!! From "Years in Review", to in depth interviews...if you think you know the whole story, think again!!! -BK Former Geek of the Week.
As a dude who is paying money to watch Anthrax play Among the Living in its entirety, I can get into this.
These guys have a solid show. Thanks, Geeks!
Do you want more rock in your pods? Do you want more pod in your rock? This is the way to get there.
This is like stepping into a Time Machine , and hearing real music once again.....
Chris and Aaron take charge and bring an enjoyable podcast to the airwaves every week. I love the interviews and retrospectives. It is also nice to keep up with what bands from "back in the day" are doing, since the mainstream media does not follow these developments at all. I will keep listening as long as you are still inspired to put together a podcast. Hopefully you won't get burned out trying to put out an episode each week. Even if this came out once a month it would be excellent! Rock the way it was meant to be.
Rock on DB Geeks! Love the different show formats, fascinating interviews, and heaping helpings of Kiss!
This is a fantastic show and how rock radio should be. It almost feels like you are back in time when you listen to this show. Chris and Aaron do a great job bringing great music and discussion for each show. I love the bizzarre cover shows and ALL of the Kiss shows, although I can't possibly pick a top 5 Paul Stanley songs, too hard! Love the show guys keep up the great work!
Love this Podcast....new Music, old Music and everything in between.....great Hosts in Chris and Aaron...as well as some great interviews...Horns Up Guys Keep up the good work
The guys make one heck of a show that proves podcasting is more than just comedy. This is what free media is all about. This show takes years on the calendar and discusses the significant releases and bands of that time. Right now, they at 1969 and it's a great starting point for any new listeners. While I will say that I think the boys are a bit romantic with the 70's and 80's, who isn't, right? Highly recommended on their love of the music, alone. But the real, truly awesome part of this show is the great guests. I mean, I'm constantly finding myself envious, awed, and excited to see the people that agree to come on the show. It's truly impressive.
But I never have to time that it takes to devote to the music to become a true geek on the subject. Thankfully the DB Geeks are here to do some of the heavy-lifting for me and show me what rocks!
Wow I love this! Cool to hear songs you don't hear on the radio especially since I don't listen to the radio anymore. Very well done
Face it, everybody's got a microphone these days (some people more than one). This translates into a LOT of sub-par shows flooding iTunes. It's great to see guys that love music and put together a professional and entertaining show each week. Keep up the good work guys.
Sure they talk about 'old' music from the last century, but that's ok. This is a really good show about music with some really good musicians takin about... Wait for it... Music! Subscribe you won't regret it unless you don't & forget what that darn shows name was... Subscribe it prevents stupidity.
Give it a good lick and try not to enjoy this hard-line look at music that deserves nothing less. It's like all the posters in your bedroom talking to you all at once. And making sense.
Today, after listening to The Decibel Geeks, I took the 9 volt battery out of my fire alarm and put it into my distortion pedal. The ability to Shred far exceeds my family's safety!!! Great Show!
rock out guys , i love thhe podcast
Rock on guys! Subscribe to this podcast!
I try to listen to as many podcasts as I can, and this stands out nicely in the pack. Nice job!
Great podcast. The music is terrific. This is a must listen if you like hard rock and metal.
Love this podcast. Long live metal
If you like Rock and Metal you will love this show!
Providing answers to the long-standing questions in the minds and hearts of all hard rock fanatics! Well executed and produced.
Since JayZ decided to retire from using the terminology most associated with his rise to fame, this show can bring it back with a vengeance. Turn it up beotches
god gave rock and roll to you, and these guys made it fun to talk about.
great podcast from a knowledgeable fan. Enjoyed the Eric Carr episode in particular. Rock on!
….."end that sentence with a preposition" :) Cool show for those who take their metal on the heavy side.
But I like this podcast better. Although I don't need to know what's under Brett's wig. If you like metal, you'll be happy with this podcast.
A type of podcast that there needs to be more of, and dome well like this one.
My favorite thing about this podcast is the interviews. No matter if the musician being interviewed is famous or local, Chris knows the questions to ask to get them to talk. Although I am not a huge fan of the music this show revolves around, I still know that I am going to enjoy each episode because of Chris and his knowledge of the musicians he interviews. It's like he is talking to an old friend even if he has never met them before. Any music fan can appreciate this podcast.
I frequently suffer from night terrors, & thus, I often roam the dark midnight hallways of my house in search of solace. Unfortunately, usually finding only discarded Cherry Coke cans & pizza boxes smashing beneath my bare feet, I consistently slip into reconcilable despair. Recently, however, I decided to checkout Chris's podcast as a distraction from the terrible images haunting my emotionally unstable mind (I am a victim of alien abduction). In his podcast, I have found my only true friends: people who celebrate the occult & all its glory! I would follow Chris's dark army of the night to the depths of Hell, if he so called upon me. Oh great Lord forgive me for my sins, for the music made me do it! ☠
Great show hosted by Chris, and a revolving ensemble of guests. If you're a music geek like me, you'll love this show, especially if you love Kiss!!
Great humor and insight on the music world from actual musicians instead of talking (empty)heads. Instead of the normal podcast, it's more like listening in on a conversation with a couple of drunks in a bar that actually ARE as interesting as they think they are.Definitely recommended.
