I click on this podcast anxious to learn more Spanish, and the first thing I hear is about sone girl being “assigned” female .... I’m not here to be taught a political agenda, I WAS here to learn a language ¡ADIOS, DUOLINGO!
The speed of the speech is absolutely perfect as well as the level of language used. I found myself picking up new words in every episode. I absolutely love the content as each episode is different and so engaging! Love the social justice aspect! So inspiring.
I also agree that it would so much more effective if we could read along with text.
I came to learn a language, not to be forced fed social justice stories. This is just another reminder why parents need to double check all content before introducing content to kids. It's not hard to make neutral stories is it?
this is epic podcast and i’m glad there’s no boomers to ruin it. i just wish there were words because i’ve been learning for 3 months and i’m stoopid -comedic genius and epic memer
A peculiar emphasis for an introductory Spanish course
With excellent social justice stories.
The regular speech is not easy to grasp as a crawl b4 u walk concept, as well as it is Spain based
I have never found a story in this series that I did not thoroughly enjoy. The language is filtered to the extent that I can understand almost everything with my Duolingo-learned Spanish and French. When an unusual word is introduced, Maria Castro (on the Spanish podcasts) interrupts the story to offer an explanation. I cannot say enough good things about Maria Castro and her crew — except that I have never heard her introduce stories in languages other than Spanish! :-). Make my day, Maria! Say something in French too! I can’t even pronounce the name of the guy who does the French podcasts, but he’s does an awesome job too. Maybe he’ll say something in Spanish some day to shame Maria! All kidding aside, it would be fun to hear the two of you swap places for a day! Regardless, I am a loyal listener. I very much appreciate the great work of you and your contributors! More please!!!
I love the Duolingo app and was really excited to find out about the podcast. However, I really don’t care to listen to a the social justice themed content. I had enough of that in college. I get having diversity and equality themes appear naturally in stories but this seems much too forced and intentional.
I love this podcast! I can learn Spanish AND be caught up in a story.
Love learning from Duolingo, all day everyday. Keeps me so motivated and interested. An I’m actually learning the pronunciation and the spellings. 😁🙏🏿💯👉🏿👸🏿🐝
Yay!!! I love this
This podcast is such a great tool in my journey to learning Spanish. The stories are very educating, too.
Great story despite the sped up chipmunks-type speech rate.
So much fun. The content is so interesting and I love the little success stories. I am still a beginner but with the narrator chatting helps get perspective!
I am so greatful for this podcast. I can't follow the usual lightening speed Spanish of native speakers. This is just the right pace, and as a bonus, the stories are fascinating!
Honestly I started listening to these podcasts as a supplement to my DUOLINGO lessons but these are so amazing. I’m enjoying these stories so much it gets better with each episode that you don’t even realize they are in Spanish. The narrators are very clear and speak relatively slowly and the host chimes in for context. They make my commute so much better that I actually look forward to my drive home!
These stories have not only helped my Spanish but they’ve expanded my world.
I love it I didn’t know they had podcasts
Me and my sisters just started homeschool, and i always wanted to learn Spanish! These adds kept popping up about the Duolingo podcast. I showed my mom and she said to check it out sometime. So here we are!!! Thanks Duo!!!
We love listening to this podcast! It keeps our interest the entire time!
I love listening to this podcast. At first I understood very little but over time, studying Duolingo, now I miss very little. The stories are very diverse and they are very interesting. I like the English interjections because it verifies that I am on the right track or it straightens out any misunderstandings.
I love this podcast. While the speech is slower than I encounter in the real world, that means I can catch more of it and increase my comprehension. I especially love that the stories are engaging and informative. I’m not just listening to improve my Spanish skills, I’m listening because I want to hear the story! So far every episode I have heard tells me about an inspiring person I had never heard of before. I highly recommend it.
I love the new “intermediate” level Spanish podcasts. I’ve studied “at” Spanish for decades and can read after a fashion, but I can never deal with it as a spoken language. The slow, clear speech of these podcasts is unrealistic, but has the advantage that I catch every word. At my level that’s probably just what I need to be able to do. But the most ingenious innovation is mixing in English just often enough that missing something in Spanish doesn’t stop you in following the rest of the story. That’s simple, but wonderfully user friendly. Good idea, very well pulled off. (Hmmm. How does one say that in Spanish?)
Duo the bird has helped me all this summer 😄. I am excited to get new episodes
The authenticity is AMAZING! I’ve learned more than just language from these experiences. There’s a lot of negative reviews coming from heartless, brainless people. Those people view the REAL LIFE stories as “social justice”, politics, or some type of an attack on their privileged existence. They want to live comfortably & ignore the real atrocities that happens to everyone else. Smh.
Thank you for this intelligent, well-crafted podcast that students of any age can learn from and enjoy!
Great for learning spanish! My kids love itt
I have subscribed to her YouTube channel to show her support. The story is intriguing and both narratives were perfectly mixed to give ones brain training in switching from one language to another.
duolingo kidnapped me and forced me to write a 5 star review.
This was so much fun to listen to. It had so much energy and enthusiasm. The life lessons were imaginative and delightful and were certainly heartfelt.
I am simply addicted to this podcast. The content, sound tracks,All of it.
Finding these podcasts is a wonderful basket of content in two languages. I am impressed and grateful to get more of “the music” of Spanish in a manageable style. The broadcasts also set a great example of pace and clarity for myself when speaking English to Spanish speakers. Thank you.
I love the Spanish portion of this product podcast, it is very well done. But, I don’t understand why they put so much English in it. The podcast is fully half English so I consider that part wasted in terms of my Spanish listening improvement.
As a Chinese girl trying to learn Spanish, I’m so happy to be able to have this podcast. Not only I can learn new words and accent, getting a scope of the spanish culture.
A podcast a day keeps the duolingo bird away!
I love these stories... they are heart warming and make the listener want to engage and keep up. I think it would be great if there were levels of the podcast... for beginners, intermediate, etc. and more of them too. It’s really awesome that they’re real life stories.
This podcast has really helped me practice my listening skills!
I can’t understand much of what is said in Spanish. Why isn’t there a beginner’s level? If there is, I have not been able to find it.
Really enjoy this podcast for listening purposes in Spanish. Just enjoy interesting theme and real story from all the Spanish speaking country. Just the different perspective.
The best language learning program I have ever used. Love it
I think this podcast is great for people looking to improve their Spanish skills or to make sure your current Spanish knowledge doesn’t get rusty. The stories are interesting, and the commentary by Martina is helpful for those who don’t have a super advanced knowledge of the language. I just wish there were more diversity to where the stories are coming from. Over 80% were from countries in South America, and less than 20% were from countries in Central or North America, and ZERO stories from Spain. Having lived in Spain, I can attest that there are many different accents within that country alone, and I think it would be helpful to have a variety of accents for learners to listen to. Keep up the great work with the podcast, and I’d love to hear more stories from other Spanish-speaking countries (mainly Spain)!
I love Duolingo!
Duolingo is pretty awesome
I love dou lingo The best
The stories are interesting to listen to in the first place, and they’re just the right amount of push to help me practice understanding native-speaking Spanish
I am 74 years old and have been going to Latin America for the winters for 5 years. Each time I go I take Spanish. These podcasts are both instructive and super interesting. I am greatly indebted To Duolingo. Gracias a Martina!
I have been doing Duolingo for a couple of months and finally listened to a podcast. I wasn’t expecting much to be honest but was thrilled to be wrong! The stories are top-notch, and although the spoken Spanish is still a bit beyond me, I appreciate how slowly and clearly the storytellers speak, enough for me to follow along generally. I’m currently catching up on past episodes and reading along with the transcripts as I have time. I’m eagerly awaiting new episodes!
It inspired me. I’m 7 years old.Adios
I’m a kid and i am learning spanish but this podcast was usless i thought it was a thing to help my spanish but it was just a interview
Finally something has LGBTQ+, Miracles of coffee (my personal favorite), and more. Especially if their made by Duolingo! Keep it up!
I love listening to this podcast when I’m on my walks and truly focusing on the sounds and comprehension of the story. I also appreciate the fact that this podcast is free and so is the app. This allows us to learn a new language and keep practicing everyday. Thanks!
Is it too much to ask that 1 aspect of our lives is not perverted by SJW BS
This app helps me so much with my languages and this app is one of my favorite apps ever. All the story’s are so good and fun to listen to I definitely recommend this app and that is why I give it a 5/5 star rating and I just want to say thank you to the creators for helping me and many other children and adults and teens.i am only 9 years old and I have leaned so much French and Spanish so I defently recommend this app
I’m a beginning Spanish learner. Listening to Duolingo Podcasts is obviously above my ability level but with the slower presentation of the stories and the commentator’s input it helps me to understand some of the stories. It helps “tune” my ear to conversational Spanish. I really enjoy the Podcasts!!
Enjoy the stories. Appreciate the style, very helpful for my Spanish learning journey. Although I know it’s difficult, I’m hoping to not have political innuendo within stories thanks for producing for us
Just discovered this podcast. Outstanding! The bilingual format is perfect not only if I miss something but b/c it validates my translation. Esperando por mas.
Thank you soooooooooooo much for this! It helped me a lot!😃
AND THEY HELP A LOT!! I have been learning Spanish for a little bit of time and I feel like I know a lot! Thanks Duolingo for helping me!
Excellent quality, intriguing and professional quality. Each episode draws the you in, subversively, so you keep wanting more. El Profe invests a lot of thought and energy into each episode. Congratulations y Gracias!
Extremely good at teaching Spanish and about culture and important social issues! Also always interesting. Do recommend
I needed this to help with my learning!!
I’ve been listening to these in the car with my kids. Yesterday we started the episode “el activista” and it starts out talking about two men kissing and how the main character thought it was natural and he liked boys. It goes on to talk about his struggles with being gay. I’m totally cool with lgbt stuff in media but put a warning on the episode or something. I want to be able to talk to my kids about this stuff when they’re a little bit older and have the capacity to understand the world better and start making their own choices. Someone coming out of the closet and dealing with being in the closet; these topics are complex and really tough. While I think it’s important to teach our kids about these things at some point, these types of issues are not for kids to learn about through a language podcast. Most other episodes are perfectly fine.
It’s a great idea, and is super useful in sharpening verbal comprehension. But I wish there would be more of an effort to check one’s political leanings at the door. The vast majority of episodes are super interesting and largely non-ideological. But a few are penned by “social justice activists”...with predictable results. This last episode, though...the minute I heard “trigger warning” I was like “uh oh”. I think it’s great to win more rights/acceptance for marginalized communities. But to so uncritically celebrate the silencing of one’s opponents through “hate speech” laws? It’s slimy and a slippery slope.
I love the stories and all it’s great it helped me with learning Spanish and I so love it now I’m almost fluent it’s a great app and great stories
This is a wonderful enjoyable way to learn Spanish. The speed and the tone Aliti of the voices makes this certainly intermediate Spanish. I only wonder if at some point they will begin to progress to having slightly more Spanish in less English as the years and episodes progress.
These are really helping improve my spanish very well. My little sister knows nothing about spanish and I am sure she will love these.
I love these stories. Not only do they help me learn Spanish, but every story I listen to is fascinating. I honestly listen more for the stories, than trying to learn now.
It is a very interesting story
I am starting to learn Spanish again, and these episodes are really helping me!!
love your stories and also while I’m in the car with my mom Laura I am Lyra and so when I go in the car I hear about these adventures and I liked them so much I gave you a thumbs up and five star review thank you for the podcast can you please make more 😇🥰😍😘💞💓💝💗💖💘💕❣️🖤💜❤️🧡💛💚💙💘💖💗💓💞💜🖤❣️💕💙💛🧡❤️🇺🇸😸💫😍😅😂🤣😆😁😄😃😀☺️😊😌😉🙃🙂😗😙🥰
This is such a great lesson to people who don’t understand that even if your gay or lesbian or bisexual mean NOTHING
*random lgbt podcast intensifies*
Two men kissing? Try talking about something appropriate and interesting. 🤢🤢🤮🤮 hated that podcast. I will update if others are better
I listen to these while I walk my dogs early in the morning. Every single story gets me thinking and feeling about people who are far away but still connected through humanity. I learn more than how to listen in Spanish and I’m so thankful!
This pretty much works awesomely. It’s helpful you should try it out!!! 😏👍 Love it
So far, this is the best Spanish podcast I’ve heard. I love how the story is in Spanish and English, it certainly makes it better for someone who is a little rusty at Spanish. I’ve known Spanish for all my life and it certainly wasn’t the best, I can actually understand the stories and they’re actually good stories, too! Great podcast!! 👍
I found these podcasts very enjoyable for someone who know basics. At least. I started a week ago with learning, and i have no idea what the ppl say in spanish. It’s just a story in spanish explained in english. Will definitely come back later, but for now there is lot more useful podcasts for spanish leanings for beginners. Kinda disappointed, because duolingo has targeted people that are starting with language, so i would expect to have the podcasts connected to each lessons with increasing of the difficulty.
This is so helpful! At school it took Spanish and now that it’s summer I can still study! Thanks Doulingo!!!!!!😁😁😁😃😃😃👍😊😊
Super excited to find this podcast!
I found that story telling is a great way to learn a language. As a 20 something I quickly got bored with children’s fairytales. THIS!!! Some of these podcasts had me on the edge of my seat! Me mudo a Madrid en Octubre. I will be ready ✨😊
This podcast is awesome. I’ve tried listening to other podcasts as a means to improve my Spanish, but always found myself getting lost too easily, and thus disinterested. The mix of Spanish and English that Duolingo uses is ingenious. I feel I can get the gist of what is being said, even if I don’t understand every single word. I also appreciate that the Spanish speakers speak slowly and clearly. Thank you for making this a free podcast!
I live this podcast!!!!! For my birthday I'm gonna get tested by my cousin who is Puerto Rican/Mexican and she knows a LOT IF SPANISH AND I'M READY!!!!!!!
I absolutely love these podcasts! Not only is it helping my Spanish comprehension but the stories are very interesting and educational.
i still do èspanol, and i'm in the gold league. i'm m hooking up on more Spanish because i'm going to Mexico 🇲🇽 for CHRISTMAS!!! And my family is Mexican/Spanish. SO COOL!!!! love this podcast
This is a great speed, length of story, subject matter, and English help for intermediate Spanish. The English context without totally literally interpreting the Spanish is great for helping you figure out the story on your own. You can always slow it down if it’s too hard. I actually usually listen at 1.5x speed as I do for English podcasts, and I am impressed when I can keep up! If this is too easy I suggest Radio Ambulante from NPR. I hope they come out with similar podcasts for other languages like French and Italian too!
So I heard about Duolingo a few years ago and have used it on and off. THEN I heard about how great the podcasts were, briskly read the reviews and decided to try it out and guys this is great! The stories are definitely intermediate level but pretty easy to follow along. I do have one complaint though, duo left my middle child with me😩 if he would just kidnap this kid so I could have some peace and quiet to hear the stories, that’d be great
For me, Im brushing up on Spanish and then trying to further improve. These podcasts are very useful because the speakers use simple intermediate Spanish and speak at a reasonable rate. The stories told are mostly in Spanish with interjections of English that give context and help with keeping pace with the story. The English is NOT a translation of what is being said, and thus makes you use your skills to figure out the meaning. This is more effective than translating everything as you are more likely to remember if you figure it out yourself.
It’s nice but how am I supposed to learn if they never interpret the story? They should say it in Spanish then English
In easy to understand Spanish I learned a lot, thanks !!
The announcer often speaks in English. Perhaps that could be repeated in Spanish. Maybe provide transcript in both languages like Radio Ambulante from NPR.
I thought it would be pretty easy but I can barely understand half of what they are saying. But overall I enjoy the effort.
I love douolingo podcasts but I am also new and I can understand most of it and I try by best but it is just really hard and it would be better if they just do it in both languages because that would make it easier and it also easier to learn Spanish
What a great way to listen to Spanish stories! I love how captivating the stories are in such a short time. The stories are my absolute favorite and I learn so much about Latin American culture. My only con would be is that there is too much “chiming in” in English. The story teller is already speaking in intermediate Spanish and pretty slowly. I feel that if you’re and avid listener and want to continue getting better, the English is too much of a crutch. But still great podcast.
This app is very helpful I've been studying French forever and I could never find the right thing but when I found out about this app it helped so much Thanks Doulingo!!❤️
I love the doulingo podcast but I am new and can’t understand most of it I try my best but I miss some of the amazing story I wish they would tell u all the words in Spanish and in English
I’ve been using Duolingo off and on for a couple years now and I can say they have never, not once, kidnapped my whole family. Just my kids a couple times, guess I’ll just have to make another 🤷🏽♂️
Not only is this an effective learning tool, but the stories are really great too! I studied Spanish for many years but have been away for it for just as many. This is really helping me get back into it. Waiting for the Duolingo French podcast...
I’m just scared for my life at this point. I’m sorry Duo 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
It has it bugs yon should see them alot like music blocking your speaking
It is teaching me a lot of Spanish.
I love this!!!!!!!!
I am enjoying this app in connection with learning through Duolingo. It is helping me to pronounce the words better and helping me to understand the language do you have podcasts for any of the other languages Thank you
I want to start by giving a HUGE thanks to Duolingo for this podcast. It’s definitely been helpful over the months I’ve been listening. But what is going on with these stories? Just because the Spanish by necessity must be simple, do the lives have to be as well? I don’t mean this as some kind of diss, as many parts of my life wouldn’t seem all too thrilling if you made an episode out of them. But most of the seeming “adventures” shared are just bland, and often they come across as whining. For instance, I just had to stop the last one when a nanny was complaining about her host family because they were only paying her like ~$14 an hour. Get a grip, yo. Good lord. Again, Duolingo — you rock for all that you’re offering with your platform and podcast. But please give us some stories that are actually exciting, or genuinely uplifting, or just something else. These mundane occurrences are making me not want to listen in. :-(
I’m able to listen to full dialogues in Spanish, so I can hear the pronunciation of the words and usage of new phrases
I love this cause you can choose any language thank you for this app I tried learning Spanish on YouTube and that didn’t even help. Then I found Duolingo.that helped a lot more. I learned tu habla español?,tu come mañanas, donde estas el hospital. And a lot lot more. Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The stories are interesting. I like the variation in speakers. My only suggestion is to produce one for advanced learners as well.
As much as I love this I wish there were different languages to choose from since I’m trying to learn German as well as Spanish
I’ve been learning Spanish with Duolingo for 4 years non-stop, and now, I wish for more intermediate and advanced content with less English. I hope you’ll provide that soon. Still, keep up the good work. You’re doing a fantastic job. Thank you 🙏
Hola! I wish there were levels for beginners and levels for advanced people. As a more advanced speaker, I wish there was less English. Although, my friend is a beginner, and wishes there were more English. Adios!
Really good to learn Spanish... just wish there were different levels for beginners instead of just intermediate
I am new to this
It’s plain out awesome
This is very nice for someone who's starting to learn Spanish, like me. It's engaging to listen too and soo interesting! Keep it coming!
As a semi-fluent non-native Spanish speaker, this podcast helps keep my ear sharp. I’d highly recommend for Spanish 3+ high school students. Wish there was a more advanced version with less narration in English for the more advanced listeners. Otherwise no complaints. The stories are fantastic.
I didn’t practice and now duolingo locked up my family in a tower.
Omg this is gooog lol😎
I was on vacation that’s why I didn’t practice I kinda want my family back
i didn’t do my lesson and duo takes my dog and i subscribe to this and don’t listen to the podcast and duo took my family. I’ll do anything just please bring them back.
I absolutely love this podcast and it has helped me greatly improve my Spanish listening abilities. But the inconsistency of new releases is driving me crazy
Would be better if it wasn’t so dumb
Nobody leaves real ratings on this app, only fake ones made to scare people! Starting to wonder if they’re real! Delete those posts!
I thought it was all fake until one day I didn’t do my lesson and I came home to no family
This Podcast is great for Spanish students. The stories are fascinating and have encouraged me to improve my Spanish outside the classroom. I highly recommend that you give them a listen because the Spanish is not too difficult to understand especially with English narration.
Duolingo has not sent me messages not kidnapped either now I wonder what the heck is that bird up to?
there is way to much english spoken and not enough spanish.
Honestly I do like the Spanish parts and the clear speech of the narrators. However there is entirely too much English. If I wanted to listen to English short stories I would. I am listening to these to practice Spanish yet often I hear very little. They are not bad, I just expected more Spanish.
I’m prepping for a big move to Antofagasta, Chile and these have been so helpful. They are giving me the confidence I need to know I will survive with the Spanish I have there. Any ideas how often the seasons will be updated?! I want more!
A lot of the stories seem to be politically colored, especially towards one side, but I appreciate being able to listen to real Spanish.
Cuando es el próximo episodio? Yo no me puedo esperar!!
this is not a joke. the duolingo bird has my family. please, someone help. my address is 749 Wal
The app and the podcasts are great but I do wish that there were more frequent updates
Duolingo helps me and my family... Now all I am speaking is Spanish I think I am forgetting English a little bit😂😂😂
I am not that good at Spanish but the stories are super interesting and cool.
I’m still not perfect with my spanish so I usually do not know what they are saying but it’s helpful
The stories are good. If your vocabulary is even a bit limited gl following the story.
The stories are very intriguing, especially since they are true. They are very enjoyable to listen to. The readers are all great and I love the background music and sound effects! It makes it feel like you are there.
Duolingo is great as they go above and beyond for language learning, using interesting stories.
This is great way to keep Listen and learn but i wish it was updated more frequently
This helps me to focus on my homework so I did this often
This song is the best
This app is nice so the can learn all tapes of languages you can learn.you can play with friends but one thing do not play it at 3 AM Am warring you 😕🙁☹️
This is literally my first time listening to these kind of podcasts and I am so into it! My family speaks Spanish and I am trying to learn Spanish. Hope this helps!🖤
Fun even for beginners
It’s awesome because wow, like I love Duolingo
I have duolingo and I like the learning it’s good to learn. Well the thing is that I discovered this today liked it.
As a Spanish teacher, I LOVE the idea of this podcast! My one request/complaint is that all the stories are told in the past. My students have not yet learned preterite versus imperfect. If some podcasts/stories could be told in the present tense, I would be hooked!
Great podcast for listening to Spanish. Would like more podcasts that have family friendly themes so I can listen with my kids in car. We are all trying to learn Spanish and would like to listen together. Currently many podcasts stories involve violence, kidnapping and guns.
I am not sure what this is for.... If someone could explain to me the purpose behind this podcast I read that it’s not a lesson but it’s made by Duolingo so what exactly is the purpose behind this podcast if it’s not a lesson?
I have one suggestion. I think it’s necessary to separate the levels. I would like to listen to something more appropriate for my beginner level. Basic common phrases and conversations.
Wonderful story effective presentation I was able to understand more than I thought possible. It was well told It put me there! I want to hear it again.
Love this podcast and I am learning a lot with fun from it. Thanks for the podcast.
The story picks are amazing every time! For each story I have been straining my spanish muscles to work harder because I want to catch every word. I will definitely go back to re-listen to ones to get a better understanding of the stories and language. Perfect for intermediates!
I’m learning Spanish that’s to this app thanks Duolingo 🥳🥳🥳🥳😇
I can learn Spanish on the Duolingo app, but I find myself relying on reading instead of listening. I’ve had trouble understanding Spanish when someone is speaking and this podcast has helped a lot!
Perfect pace for me, a higher level than random vocabulary words to memorize but easier than full-speed TV or radio. Very well done!
This helps me understand Spanish! Thank you 🙇
Excellente! Keep them coming!
The stories flow naturally and are interesting, fun and sound exactly like “This American Life” podcast. Every listener can feel more and more bilingual as you switch between hearing English and Spanish so swiftly.
I love these podcasts. They are interesting, informative and educational. They test my thinking skills and make learning Spanish enjoyable. I LOVE DUOLINGO!!!!
I like this show but I wish there was a lot less English
Deseo que hubo más hablantes de Centroamérica, como Nicaragua o El Salvador. Aunque, me encanta esta podcast, y me ha ayudado muchísimo. También recomiendo el podcast “Unlimited Spanish”.
I just started listening to these podcasts, and as soon as I listened I fell in love with it! I’m gonna keep listening to these.
Comprehension comes before speaking. That’s why I love these podcasts. The podcasts helps build comprehension, getting the language learner closer to actually speaking the target language without sounding like Tarzan 🤦♂️
this is a great app, at the moment im learning spanish but one thing that annoys me SO much is that i cant start a new lesson until my health fills up, i know there's a option for working for health but why just remove health? whats so big about it? and also duling plus is so expensive i want to do it ofline and have unlimeted health but its like 17.99 for just a month! please lower the price and remove health. overall great app im learning soo much!!!
Unlike most language podcasts, this one switches effortlessly between Spanish and English to help keep listeners on track and not completely lost. There's instruction, but it's human-centric as opposed to perfection-centric. Please Duo, please repeat this concept for French and other languages. Thanks!
I’m not sure this will help my Spanish very much but the stories are interesting and you will definitely learn more about the Spanish speaking world.
The Spanish stories here are at an intermediate level and the narrator chimes in periodically to help out here and there, especially with different slangs or figure of speech that may differ in the various Latin American countries. I find myself understanding almost 90-95% of the spoken Spanish and that will give you more confidence. In addition to traditional studying, try to watch and listen to as much Spanish as you can to immerse yourself completely. Many of the stories are very emotional and may make you sad at times, but they are great to listen to. I hope Duolingo continues doing such a great job.
I love all the twists and turns!
I can’t say enough good things about duolingo. I am excited for you to expand this in to other languages as well! Thanks!
I think the podcasts would be much more useful if each paragraph was first said in English & then in Spanish, not one part in English and then a totally different part in Spanish. I feel the transcripts should have each part written out in English and then in Spanish, so that you can get used to hearing the language as well as seeing what it looks like as its read or written. Otherwise, there’s really nothing here to compare & learn from, at least not as a beginner. These podcasts seem to be focused on intermediate level Spanish only. I think there should be podcasts for all levels & appropriate structured for each. I also feel the level of the podcasts should be indicated, so you can easily locate ones suitable for your learning curve. I think the podcasts are helpful, just not as helpful as they could be, especially for people at different levels. Thank you! 😊
It will be good if you can provide speed control i.e. X 0.5, 0.75, 1, 1.25
This podcast is great 👍🏽
This is the best podcast I’ve ever heard
Fascinating, diverse stories that teach Latin American history and culture while also allowing you to practice Spanish comprehension.
I love it and it’s helping me to gain an “ear” for spoken Spanish. I’m a beginner but the podcast, along with the app, are really helping me pick it up.
I love this podcast and am so grateful I discovered it. If you are learning Spanish and interested in learning about the world, i can’t recommend this enough. The stories are interesting, and the narrator chimes in just enough and at the perfect times. I can’t wait for the next episode every week. I will say, though, that the latest season (4, i believe) has has the least variety in terms of storytellers. 3 out of the 4 episodes so far have been from Argentina, featuring Argentine accents, which is of course fine, but I liked how the earlier seasons features storytellers from all over Latin America. In any event, I’m so happy this podcast exists and I definitely recommend it!
Excellent learning too especially when used in combination with the transcripts
I am just trying to learn spanish so it's very hard to follow story. Any chance you would do a podcast where you translate every sentence the storyteller says for beginners? I wish I had time to do a podcast and I would do it myself :) Great for people who are more advanced in learning.. Keep it up!
I need to catch up
This podcast taught me a lot about Spanish and other languages. It still didn’t teach my when my dad will come back but that’s just a minor issue.
Good podcast, but why is every protagonist a journalist?
These podcasts are simply high quality. All I have to say lol
The first season was great. Season 2 was not as good, and Season 3 is just terrible. Did you change producers? The stories are getting worse and worse. Sad, depressing, and totally inappropriate content that is not told in a meaningful or compelling way. It’s bad journalism in any language. I’m learning a language to seek joy and escape sadness. And the episodes seem carelessly produced with too much content in English and it feels like you are trying to create a story when you don’t have sufficient content. That is ok if the subject is innocuous, but not when it is about death and illness and loss. You have to be careful with content like that and you aren’t at all. Also, if there are three episodes in a row with Argentine Spanish, then the app should teach Argentine Spanish which it does’t. Please get your writers and producers from season 1 back. It is sad to see a great podcast just destroyed by bad producing and writing. Makes me want to stop listening when I used to look forward to new episodes.
This podcast is great! It’s got great Spanish that’s sad add a slow clear piece and the stories are outstanding. I love listening to it I only wish there were more episodes. Looking forward to listening to it some more.
These podcasts are simply outstanding learning tools and the stories are very interesting! I’ve been learning Spanish for almost two years and this has been a huge help. I hope you keep making them forever! Another idea is to make another series that would include shorter but more frequent stories...I don’t always have the time or patience to get through 15-20 mins and sometimes just need a little bite to keep my mind engaged (like 5 minutes!) Please keep up the great work, and I love the storytelling format that alternates from English to Spanish, it is so much better than translations! Thanks for the great learning tools!
Seriously just said "YAY" outloud at work when I saw that season 3 was available. Absolutely LOVE these podcasts for learning Spanish and hearing real stories. Duolingo I'm already ready for season 4!!
i work with a 14yo bilingual student who would enjoy listening to the podcast but as i’m not fluent (yet) i want to make sure the stories are kid-friendly before i recommend it
It’s good but I don’t know that much Spanish and it’s hard for me to understand all of it... it also said it was going to be easy to understand Spanish but it’s not really.... I would recommend this to people that know a lot of Spanish, or español.
These podcasts are very informative, not only will you learn a language, you will learn true stories about people, customs and situations that we all should care about. Give it a listen!
These podcasts are amazing! The stories are really good and I can practice my Spanish at the same time. This is an awesome way to practice Spanish without being really bored. The context help in English is super helpful. This is a great podcast and I love it!
This podcast just keeps getting better! It’s right at my level so I can actually understand, and the stories are so good. It’s BACK!!
Great learning and fun stories. Thanks, Duolingo!
This is a really great and fun podcast
The podcast is so good in so many ways. Of course, there is the initial benefit of ear training and learning the different ways in which the language is actually used. But possibly the more meaningful benefit is exposure to the rich and varied cultures of Spanish speaking countries which is a critical component of learning any language. The added benefit of the written transcript is immeasurable. I have listened to every episode at least three times since discovering the podcast last Winter and I can’t wait for the next season! Thank you for this fantastic work.
Amazing! I hope to see a korean one soon!!
Interesting and an amazing challenging way to practice Spanish as a student. I really have benefited from listening to these podcasts
Great stories, and just enough of a stretch challenge for my Spanish listening skills after finishing Spanish in the Duo Lingo app.
This has amazing story 😍
I am hooked. Good stories. I was skeptical of how they would present both Spanish and English together, but it truly works. This is the best one I’ve found for language learners.
I’ve been thoroughly enjoying listening to the stories from all over the world and having the opportunity to try out my translating skills (which have been slowly increasing!). Hearing the use of the language and the flow of the past tense has helped me tremendously. I also really enjoy how there isn’t a direct translation of what the author says. Sometimes I find that having things translated for me makes me a little lazy :) Thanks for putting together such an amazing podcast!!!!!
I’m taking a beginning Spanish class and love this podcast to listen to at home.
I learned how to speak Spanish and learn how to understand Spanish
Helps me know that I’m learning to understand full conversations in a Spanish narrative. I like it! Thanks Duolingo!
This is fantastic. As an intermediate Spanish speaker I find that this was very understandable. I also enjoyed the story.
Such a great way to learn a new language! Love the pictures, interactive dialogue, and reward system. I would HIGHLY suggest this app to anyone wanting to learn a new language!
I really like these episodes. There is enough English to orient me to the story, but it’s improving my Spanish comprehension. I read Spanish a lot better than I speak or listen. Duolingo’s podcast is helping me improve and the stories are very interesting.
Excellent for intermediate learners looking for interesting listening.
I already speak spanish but I LOVE THIS!!! 😍
The stories in each episode are slow and fairly easy to understand. I love them. They are also compelling leaving me wanting to hear more about each situation. I sometimes feel like I am there. Really good. Tune in!
These podcasts are great help me to have a story time in English and Spanish. I like listening to other people’s experiences. Thank you Duolingo for these. I’m excited every Wednesday now.
Can’t wait for season 3!
I loved this podcast until episode 1 of season 2, when they started to attempt to draw sympathy for criminals / illegal aliens. This is a show for learning, not politics. Keep it to yourself. Update: The more of season 2 I listen to, the more this podcast keeps spouting left wing extremist ideologies. Get some unbiased content.
I enjoy listening to these stories, the pacing is great and I am able to follow along without issues. However I have complaints on some of the narrators, they are very monotonous and lack the enthusiasm the English Duolingo narrator has.
Duolingo succeeds in creating a fun and inspiring learning environment again! These podcasts are perfect for busy students like me who still wish to get the most out of their spanish practice on the go.
I downloaded Duolingo a few years ago to learn Spanish, slacked a lot, now I’m back and they have a podcast!!! This will be fun!!!!!
I love this podcast SO much. I hope Duolingo will do one in the other languages I am studying!
Seems like it would help intermediate learners but not so much for beginners. To hard to follow along just starting out. Please make a beginner one!!
Gracias por la ayuda. He aprendido mucho y disfruto los episodios.
The quality of this podcast is great- I am learning so much by simply listening to the amazing stories. The pace of the Spanish speakers is perfect- I can understand what the stories are about and still recognize new Spanish words. I listen to these on my way to work every morning! DuoLingo, please keep making these! Los disfruto mucho!!
It's a very good for helping me understand spanish even better.
Having hosted three Spanish girls. (but only for one month) this episode really touched me. They became like daughters to me. It is also why I decided to learn Spanish. The world got a lot smaller because of these experiences. I really enjoyed this episode, and all of them. Muchas gracias.
I love this!❤️ can’t wait to hear more!✨
Yo encanto esto! Es fácil de entender y muy interesante! Gracias Duolingo!
A good history lesson of the different cultures of Latin America by the very witnesses who experienced those events. Good job!
Love it !!!
I love Duolingo and this took Duolingo to another level. Keep it up! 👌👍 Gogetterjak you are a jerk and an apple
This is the best podcast I have ever listened to!
I have learned a lot in the past year! I know how to read, talk, and hear in Spanish and understand!! 5 stars because of its amazing quality and its amazing teaching!! RECOMMEND IT!!!
Awesome job on this podcast by Duolingo. Great stories/journalism, which provide a nice vehicle to take in the Spanish language, while the English narration provides clear context.
This is a quality podcast. My Spanish is not great, but Maria is an excellent narrator and I love when I can pick out words and phrases in the Spanish portions. And the themes in season two are excellent. Keep up the great work, de nada para escuchar!
But I think that it should be less Spanish in it.but other than that its amazing
Really high quality. Enough English to keep me oriented and on track with the native speaker Spanish.
This is the kind of language podcast I’ve been looking for! It’s real life! I truly enjoy it and I’m learning.
Love this podcast and how they tell stories while weaving in Spanish lessons. More episodes please!!
Great stories, spanish is good for practice and solidly intermediate. Nice inclusion of history of Central and South America. Thanks, Duolingo!
Can you please create this podcast in Mandarin, Japanese, and Italian? I love this podcast
Beautifully well-written, well-told, and well-produced. The value of this series goes beyond its usefulness as a language-learning tool. The stories expand cultural awareness and offer insights into the human condition. I’m delighted to recommend this podcast to my students. Thank you to the creative minds at Duolingo for making this available.
I speak Spanish fluently but still enjoy this podcast and the stories. So happy they are on season 2!
Awesome podcast and way to learn languages through easy to listen to stories. Very interesting topics
This podcast is amazing!! I’m addicted and I can’t wait for more episodes to come out! This is perfect for my morning commute and gets me energized to practice Spanish throughout my day! Please release more ASAP!!!
I was shocked by how engaging and well told the stories are. The Spanish is at the right level for me, too. I listened through them all in such a short amount of time that now I’m just waiting for new ones each week!
I have traveled to Guatemala to try to learn an accellerated Spanish. The Duolingo app helped to get me started and listening to these podcasts has been incredibly useful The stories are super interesting too. I listen multiple times to the same podcast and each day I understand better. What a fantastic idea to combine English and Spanish in the same stories. Bravo. My only criticism is that there aren’t more to help me continue on the learning curve.
...because the content is interesting and the host subtly helps you out. I’d also benefit from a transcript on the website so I could see the new-to-me words that I’m struggling to understand. But it’s also great as is.
This is the greatest thing that I’ve found. Thank you so much for creating this podcast. Stretching my (limited) knowledge of Spanish with real, culturally expressive narratives is just mind boggling awesome.
This was so trash
Listened to one episode which was 100% leftist illegal immigration propaganda disguised as a “Spanish lesson”. No thanks. Take your agenda and shove it.
This podcast is partly in Spanish, partly in English, which makes is really easy to follow the Spanish. I love the last story they featured, which had great relevance to current events, in particular, the heartbreaking separation of migrant children from their families.
This level is perfect for me! I can understand nearly everything due to the slow speaking & enunciated words. Other Spanish podcasts for “intermediate” learners are still too fast. I hope more Spanish episodes come out & that other languages follow!! Any chance Russian podcasts (or stories) will come out soon??
Amazing awesome stories
This would have gotten 5 stars from me, but it is a little bit hard for me to understand. I like the stories a lot though! They are completely amazing stories. I really like this podcast!
A mi me gusta ese podcast por que es muy interesante Gracias duolingo // I like this podcast because it is very interesting Quiero más!!!!
This is by far the best intermediate tool I’ve ever come across with a good use of intermediate words one should already know spoken in a cadence that’s easy to understand with a decent amount of new words each episode. Not only that, the stories are actually very interesting and surprisingly moving. Check it out!
This podcast hits a sweet spot: not too easy, not too hard. Thank you for making this podcast!
Maybe I’m a little biased but it is awesome to be able to have a podcast in both English and Spanish to follow along in. However, as a more advanced learner I would prefer if the Spanish in the podcasts was faster and more like a native. That way I could eventually become accustomed to the way really speak. I want to struggle to understand so that when I eventually do comprehend, I can learn to mimic.
As an intermediate Spanish speaker, this is an excellent way to practice listening skills and learn a bit of new vocabulary. The stories are very engaging and the host has a great radio voice and is a good storyteller.
This is great! I live in Spain and its kinda hard to learn Spanish but now its alot easier.
I’ve only heard 1 story and fell in love! It’s easy to understand but has a good story line. : D
Love the stories! Easy to follow with the English mixed in. Wish there were more episodes!
Me encanta mucho estas historias! Son muy interesantes y entretenidos. A veces me hacen llorar Jejejeje. En fin este podcast está ayudándome aprender mejor el español. Gracias! Continúa por favor !
I look forward to more content and will make this a weekly part of my Spanish learning routine!
This podcast is perfect for taking your Spanish learning to the next level. The stories are interesting and the mixed English/Spanish is perfect.
This is great to listen to even if you don’t understand what they’re saying it’s good to listen and get used to listening. Eventually you’ll be able to pick up on words that you already know!
By far the best Spanish listening for intermediate learners! The speakers enunciate, the topics are fascinating, the English thread prevents learners from getting lost and it is not annoyingly artificial like another popular Spanish listening podcast I will not name.
Well produced with good interviews about interesting topics. I didn’t think I would like this podcast that much, but honestly it’s great. It has interviews in both Spanish and English to make it easy to follow along. I would definitely recommend a listen.
I think it is to hard I think it should be teaching you español
I am waiting for second series. I have heard more than 10 times and still listening every other day.
Wow! This is an incredible podcast. I love the way in which it is designed. I follow along with the transcript for about half of the time and only-listen for the other half, and I am able to pick up on so much. The design is great with the host seamlessly recapping on some of the more difficult sections of the previous quote. They’re also just really interesting episodes. Thanks for this wonderful podcast!
The stories are interesting and fun to read. One problem, we need more!
Great podcast but disappointing they haven’t been any new episodes
I really enjoyed this podcast! Season Dos Por favor!
Love this podcast. When is season 2 coming out?
this is literally exactly what ive been looking for in a bilingual podcast— slow but grammatically complex Spanish, no annoying ads, good music/sound effects, and most importantly: INTERESTING CONTENT! this is the most useful thing Duolingo has created
Love the podcast! It’s the perfect speed for me to practice my listening and the stories are so interesting that it makes it fun! Hope there will be some new episodes soon!
This is such a good idea. The speaking is very clear and the stories are very interesting. Most Spanish listening recordings are hard to hear and are usually non native speakers. Thank you!!
Please make more! Phenomenal podcast for Spanish learners. It’s very hard to find a podcast for learning a language that is also enjoyable to listen to. Other language learning podcasts usually have dull content or are too pedantic. This podcast actually has amazing content on its own and doesn’t come across as pedantic. It’s just another enjoyable podcast in my library.
Good idea, well done. Need more episodes
This podcast is incredible. I have listened to it over and over. Sometimes, you forget that the purpose is learning Spanish because the stories completely capture your attention. This is so well done. This is language learning done right. Can’t wait for season 2!
I’m learning Spanish and this is a great way to practice my listening. The stories are riveting and the English inserts definitely help keep me on track. I highly recommend this podcast!
I literally wrote a super long paragraph of how much I love Duolingo and now it all erased?? What why!! :(
I love the podcast that it talks about real people and And I liked it so much that I watched all of them in one day.😬😬😧😧🤩🤩
Great storytelling that helps you absorb how to use Spanish in conversation.
Please limit the English speaker. She is not that helpful.
5 stars you guys! When are you doing a French one though!! S’il vous plaît!!! 🤲🏼
I absolutely love this! Knowing Spanish as a child, and losing it it adolescence, this podcast really broke down a conversation so I could understand and follow along.
I can’t wait to hear more 😊
Love it !!! Then it’s gone!!!!! When is it coming back?????
As a huge podcast listener (3-4/day) and a long time Spanish student, this podcast is a dream come true. The level is perfect for me and the stories are fascinating. Season 1 was great, and i only there was more content sooner. Well done, Duo Lingo! Gracias!
Perfect for an intermediate learner
I love this podcast so much! It’s hard to find intermediate Spanish listening that is interesting and helps improve my Spanish skills. I really enjoyed season one and I cannot wait for season two! Thanks so much to duolingo for this project ❤️❤️❤️
Please release more episodes!
The stories are interesting and they offer a great chance to use the Spanish I know.
I really enjoyed these and hope there are more being planned. I feel more confident with my Spanish. Thanks so much.
They completely nailed it with this podcast. I was prepared for an experience that would feel juvenile - to correspond with my Spanish absolute - but the team produced content that was precisely as advertised. These are interesting, informative stories that allow me to test out my intermediate-level Spanish. They completely knocked it out of the park, and I hope they make more.
These are incredibly well done. The narrator in English has a great voice and ability to tel the story and the Spanish narration is well done and the stories are great. I’m so glad I found these.
I am a Duolingo fanatic (am constantly telling people about it), and when I saw that there were podcasts available, I immediately subscribed. They are very good, and the stories are interesting and diverse. However, my understanding is there is only the intermediate level version. It would be nice to see all three levels. The podcasts also switch back and forth between English and Spanish to help listeners stay on track, but sometimes I think it’s too much English. They are still extremely helpful for practicing though, and they don’t speak overly fast. Lastly, the podcast is not updated very regularly. It may be because it is a new feature of Duolingo, but I would love to see them begin updating with new episodes on a more regular basis as soon as they can.
I’ve been using this app for 7 months now and it has really helped my Spanish quite a bit. I’ve also been using it to teach my two kids ages 7 and 5. Not only is it teaching them Spanish but English too.
Wonderful listening practice!
This is excellent. Duolingo is having everything I need for learning a new language. The interactive conversation and this podcast are two my favorite new features. One star minus is just my hope to mark level on title of podcast then users could know which one is go to and which one can save for later.
I love that you guys have taken it to the next level with listening in different languages.
These were great for me as a beginner learner!
This is helping me to go to the next level. Thank you. Idea: Could you eventually add a game feature..? Questions & answers help to solidify it. Also, do you have the script to help learn? Thank you again.
Good quality podcast to learn spanish, like this american life meets news in slow spanish
These podcasts are so well done that I eagerly await each episode! The stories are interesting and the narratives always well done. The stories are informative, highlighting some aspect of culture or an individual’s experience that broadens my awareness and sensitivity. There is also the perfect blend of Spanish and English, enough to keep it all appropriately challenging for the intermediate learner. All I can say is that these podcasts are superb. !Más, más, más!
Really well done, I keep repeating each episode and looking for more. Really well done, fingers crossed for more episodes.
Have been doing Spanish learning on Duolingo for two years. Want to thank everyone for this learning tool. Thank you for trying different approaches and making learning more fun. Can hardly wait for season 2 of the podcasts.
I had no idea that Duolingo was putting out a Spanish podcast (I use the app everyday) but I wanted to work on my Spanish more by listening. I tried a Spanish radio show, but it was just too fast for me to understand, so I was thrilled when I found this! I love the stories and I love that they are told at a slower speed. Hopefully Duolingo will be coming out with more (and podcasts in other languages) soon! :)
Thank you Duolingo. It just keeps getting better and better. Please continue adding podcasts. Is it possible to count it towards our daily goal? Love it, want more of it!
I’m between being a beginner and being intermediate. It’s a little fast for me but that is good because my brain has to learn to think on the fly. I pick up a word here and there and have to piece it together but I think that is helping me learn. The English isn’t an exact translation of the Spanish which I was hoping for but doesn’t bother me because she’s giving a brief summary of what just happened in Spanish. I was able to figure enough out to know that! Love the podcasts ❤️💗❤️
I have been searching for years for a well-produced, well-told podcast to practice my Spanish comprehension and FINALLY duolingo has produced the Spanish podcast of my dreams. I would pay to receive new episodes on a consistent basis. Keep up the amazing work guys!
Amazing blend of intermediate Spanish with additional context of the story in English. Interesting and unique stories that are clearly articulated and PERFECT for my level of Spanish! I look forward to listening to ALL of them as I work on my fluency in Spanish.
This is really a great method for hearing exercises. Please do this for Italian and French.
I enjoy the clear articulation of both the English and Spanish speakers. The stories are interesting and I am able to learn new verbs and conjugations. Thank you for this podcast!
Wonderfully produced and with brief, fascinating stories. The Spanish is at a top-of-the-Duolingo-tree level (so as they say, intermediate) and the Spanish speaker delivers their text slowly and clearly. I’m so glad this resource exists.
A brilliant and absorbing way to learn Spanish. Interesting tales that keep you listening to the end. The ideal accompaniment to the Duolingo app
Amazing stories, great for intermediate learners, cleverly narrated, and extremely interesting. I hope they continue these, I’m hooked.
Even made me cry at times :)
I just wanted to improve my Spanish. It’s like “This American Life” for intermediate Spanish students.
Didn’t know I needed this podcast in my life but it’s amazing. Great storytelling.
I have struggled with learning Spanish since high school (20 years). And 1 thingI have needed was some way to simple listen to people speaking slowly. This podcast is well done, the native speakers speak slowly and the English interjections are great for verifying I understand. I am looking forward to hearing more.
I love this app so much Never been that easy for me To learn a new language until I got this app Thank you so much for Helping all of us who really want To study in our way By practicing each day 20 to 30min A day I love love this for real Any body can find this very helpful I think Gracias por todo
Even though I don’t know if I would describe my Spanish as intermediate I am always amazed at how much of these stories I can understand. This method seems so great at helping me learn more nuanced language. Thanks duolingo!
I really enjoy the high-quality storytelling. The Spanish is easy to understand (for me, at least) and the English cues are very well handled. More, please!!
I love the high quality story telling at an understandable pace. Makes learning and staying fresh much more fun!
This is a great podcast: interesting and helpful. I hope one day there will be a version that’s slightly more advanced so that I can continue to improve my language skills. Thank you for your work on this podcast!
What makes use podcast standout is that the stories themselves are interesting. It's also fairly clever using intermixed English & Spanish which allows you to keep up you misunderstand a few sentences. nicely, the audio quality is very good as well. MANY points for innovation and quality
When listening to this podcast I feel like I'm listening to 80% English and 20% Spanish, especially when you consider the cadence of the Spanish-speaking character. When ever the English-speaking narrator (Martina Castro) comes on it takes me out of the Spanish-speaking mindset. At the beginning of the podcast, Martina claims that this is for intermediate Spanish speakers. This is more for beginner speakers. For context, I've completed all Spanish exercises on Duolingo and am about 60% fluent.
Over the past 10 years I have tried to work on maintaining some Spanish fluency. The content I usually find is usually far too easy (like other podcasts and learning tools) or far too difficult (like reading full books or watching movies in Spanish). This is perfect for me right now. I have lived for a total of 9 months in Spanish speaking countries including 4 months in Pamplona Spain and 5 months in Costa Rica. That was all over 10 years ago or more and my abilities have faded. This podcast, coupled with reading my 3 year old children’s books in Spanish every night has me happy with my current path in Spanish learning. Thanks for making this!
Amazing! Heart wrenching stories but still brings hope to the listener.
Love love love this podcast!
Love this podcast. Thank you for all the education! :)
This series is so well produced and not only a great way to keep your ear practiced but also just legitimately compelling and wonderful stories!
Duolingo is awesome at using multiple forms of education to make it easier to learn a language. They want you to learn!
Sometimes the podcast seams like it’s for people who have managed to get 40% in duo. It’s hard to follow and it’s fast.
I absolutely love this podcast! The narration is so great, reminds me of a high-quality NPR show! In addition the stories are very interesting and the pace at which the dialogue goes so perfect for my learning at the level that I’m at. I am on the edge of my seat waiting for the next new episode!
I'm so excited about this podcast! Really well produced and really interesting stories - can't wait to hear what happens next. It's also a great level of Spanish to try to practice listening - I don't pick up on everything, but the narration helps fill in the gaps. My only complaint is that there aren't more! I've been listening to them multiple times - which actually I think could help with more understanding over time as well. Such a great idea! Thanks Duolingo!
Trying to learn a foreign language is pretty daunting, and memorizing vocabulary and conjugating verbs is anything but fun. However, Duolingo makes for a great supplement to my University beginning Spanish course. Being able to hear Spanish spoken at a slower speed than most venues is helpful in developing an ear for the language. Though I don't always understand all of the stories, which are aimed at intermediate Spanish speakers, the intermittent lapses back into English by the narrator to explain the storyline allows me to follow along. This is a helpful and entertaining way for anyone to improve their Spanish comprehension.
¡Este podcast fue muy bueno! ¡Muchas gracias por la publicación! I truly enjoyed the story and look forward to many more!
I paid close attention to the Falkland Islands war in 1982. I supposed that the value of the islands was the 100 mile international water boundary that surrounded it. It's captivating to hear this humorous and heartwarming story of two human beings from opposite sides caught up in the impersonal and destructive shenanigans of their individual country's leaders. Thank you for the podcast.
This is an exceptionally well produced podcast, and a perfect way to get practice listening to Spanish while taking in truly interesting and diverse stories. The slow and methodical enunciation of the native speakers help immensely in my beginner-intermediate ability to understand what is being said, while the various regional dialects of the Spanish speakers add just a sprinkling of added challenge that make listening to the stories even more pleasurable. Learning a new language has rarely been this appealing.
Very interesting stories. I'm bilingual (already speak English and Spanish), but found these nice to listen to anyway. I'll be sharing this podcast with friends who are interested in improving their listening comprehension.
The stories are good and quite engaging, but the translations are very far off. Some of the stories made me even wonder if they had the translations mixed up with another episode. It is good to listen to the Spanish and get a feel for it, but it is not good if you are looking for something that will give an accurate translation of the story.
Best for intermediate, not for beginners.
I love this podcast. As a Spanish learner, it’s incredibly helpful. More importantly the true stories are incredibly interesting and relatable on a level which makes learning through listening even better. I’m not sure if there’s been a gap because of the holidays, but there wasn’t one last week and I’m anxiously awaiting the next episode to appear.
This and Duolingo’s app are amazing resources for learning languages at no cost.
This is exactly what I've been looking for in a language podcast. Vocabulary that doesn't talk down to you, pacing that's metered but normal, interesting stories with real people, and English narrators that move the story forward instead of translating what was already said. THANK YOU DUOLINGO!
This is very beneficial listening practice for intermediate Spanish learners. It is a great supplement to the Duolingo app. I love that the English narration aids comprehension without exactly translating or echoing the Spanish storytelling.
Engaging stories for the intermediate learner.
This podcast is the perfect length of time to get a good Spanish workout. The stories are interesting and don’t sound forced.
I REALLY enjoy these podcasts. The host chimes in frequently with English that enhances the story rather than translates. This allows your brain to make connections if you start to feel a little lost. It’s GREAT!
I have liked the episodes I listened to, and am happy I could understand most words. They speak slowly and the stories are interesting.
Once have completed a course, I would like to learn to get used to listening to that language through a practical applications. If you do News, do your best to be strictly fact based as to not enrage or alienate the audience.
This podcast is a mix of English and intermediate Spanish, telling actual interesting stories. Great for my level of Spanish and good stories/history to hear and learn.
I used Duolingo daily, this is a great companion show to the fanstastic app. Really looking foward to more episodes.
This is a great program. Not as intimidating as other Spanish programs out there.
This is perfect for an intermediate speaker. So enjoyable and well-paced.
Please write more of these. They are good for learning.
Great stories, and a great way to learn some new stuff
These are really well done
La Navidad venía temprano! (Lo dije bien?) What a great present! I’ve been looking for a podcast to get more exposure to Spanish. This reminds me of other storytelling podcasts that I love!
Perfect and no doubt unique among all of its peers. Way to go duolinguo!
But I wish there was more episodes
I love the way good stories are told in an interesting way, with both Spanish and a few English interjections to help with cognition. I was feeling stuck after learning basic vocabulary, verb conjugation, and common phrases but this is a perfect listening comprehension podcast that keeps learning fun. I’m so glad to be making progress again, thanks Duolingo!
Please make many more of these. I do very well in the app but have zero ability to follow conversations of friends. Need to practice hearing normal conversation and trying to comprehend.
Siento really smart cuando lo escucho with my ears. Good production values!
After studying Spanish from middle school to college, i have found that keeping up with my Spanish after college is more difficult than I expected. I haven’t been able to find resources that I enjoyed to keep up with the language. This podcast was really enjoyable and I felt like I was getting a great refresher on vocabulary and verb conjugations as I listened and read along. I will definitely subscribe and keep listening. Thank you!
You won’t be able to make these fast enough to meet the demand. Smart, intelligent and entertaining. Bring it on!
I love learning new languages and interacting with different cultures. Duolingo is awesome. What a great way to teach Spanish with interesting stories and new concepts!
Incredible production values. Such strong work. Exactly what I needed at this point in my Spanish language journey. Thank you so much. ¡Muchas Gracias!
This is great for learning. Keep making more episodes!
These stories are interesting and well told. It’s a great mix of English and Spanish. It’s an important step in grasping the language, to actually hear it spoken. Thank you for these podcasts.
I just discovered this podcast today when I went to practice and I'm so excited about it! I am such a visual learner, so being able to see the text on the screen as the story is spoken is helpful to me. I really need to practice listening more, though, so I should try to listen again without watching the screen. These stories are just a bit of a stretch for me (at 53% fluent right now), so definitely something to grow into. Great production, pronunciation, sound quality, etc.
This is so cool. In my opinion, listening to stories in another language is one of the best ways to practice comprehension. Plus, Martina is a pro, and the debut story is great! If you or anyone you know is learning or wants to practice their intermediate Spanish skills, or just want to listen to great stories in Spanish, check out this podcast!!
This is so cool. It is awesome that this first podcast is bilingual. I think its a great idea for beginning learners, if you didn’t catch everything don’t worry as Castro explains as the story progresses. Telling a story is an awesome way to learn. Este podcast es muy bárbaro. Me encanta las lecciones bilingües. Yo pienso que es un gran idea aprender así. Es súper bueno para las personas que han empezado a aprender. Si no entiendes todo señora castro explica todo en inglés después. ¡No te preocupes! Contar una historia es una manera maravillosa de aprender.
I like that you are hearing a native speaker with a English speaker so you can keep your interest in the podcast if you are not good at Spanish, also you can see the transcript online or watch a transcript video. This will really help me build my “ear” for hearing Spanish. I highly recommend and hope to see more
Only one episode has been released, but obviously is a great idea. Great job by Duolingo and hope this feature is here to stay
That was excellent! I have finished the course and found that this is a great enhancement to the course. Close captioning of the Spanish would be nice. I personally find it adds to my learning, even without the English translations. It was incredibly accessible!!!
Much more accessible than podcasts designed for native spanish speakers.
I love Podcasts with interesting stories and being able to practice my Spanish at the same time makes it perfect! Martina has a lovely voice and great energy.
While only finishing the first podcast, I enjoyed the quality of the material and think that this podcast is a great way to learn about other cultures, as well improve our comprehension of what we learn/practice on Duolingo. I look forward to listening to more of these in the future.
The team at Duolingo has created a top-notch podcast that is not only useful for those actively learning Spanish, but will inspire those who have not yet began the journey to learn a new language. The level of Spanish necessary to understand the stories are kept at a basic to intermediate level, which surprisingly does not deteriorate the quality of the narrative. The podcast background music and sound effects perfectly compliment the voice audio without getting in the way. The narration flows nicely and has a perfect sense of pacing. Segments with background music and sound effects flow seamlessly and logically towards those with a quieter tone. The stories themselves are unique and draw in the listener. Any listener who stumbles upon the podcast should also give their language learning app a try!
This is exactly the level of listening I need. The breaks in English provide me enough time for my Spanish understanding of the dialogue to catch up.
My friends learning Spanish always asked me to recommend podcasts for practicing their Spanish. I never quite knew what recommend that was good quality and also fun. This podcast rocks!!! Really looking forward to share it with my Spanish learner friends! Me vas a hacer brillar con mis amigos, Duolingo :)
Beautifully produced podcast! The pace was perfect, the story was interesting to listen to.
I felt like learning Spanish as a second language was becoming out of reach. I was passionate about the language in college and hoped to become bilingual in the future. I have been yearning for Spanish listening activities / intermediate resources outside of school. This EXACTLY what I needed. An opportunity to listen to simple stories from fluent speakers, with occasional English summarizations and prefacing. Such a useful tool. Thank you for this.
I️ can’t wait for more stories to listen to. Perfect combination of Spanish & English. Thank you!
What an amazing addition to my Spanish language learning. Thanks so much for making this available. It brings learning to life. I will look forward to every new episode.
Nicely done podcast - you forget you are learning Spanish!
You can find transcriptions online too! Really high quality and fun
I’m so glad I happened upon this Podcast. Martina Castro is a fantastic host! Her narration is impeccable. Not only does she drive the story forward in this episode — and what a great story it is — but she also recaps things in such a way that I found myself able to understand some of the story I missed because my Spanish vocabulary isn’t the best. Speaking of Spanish vocabulary, I’m thrilled to see that a transcript of the episode is available. I can only imagine how much time must have been devoted to putting this together. Thanks, Duolingo! I can’t wait for more episodes!
An incredibly easy, surprisingly useful language learning tool for a novice like me. Great addition to the stable of Duolingo tools on the platform.. helping us all learn in different ways! ( and a great story on episode 1 too 😎✌🏼🙌🙌
Surprisingly accessible even for lower-level Spanish speakers. The Spanish portions are extremely clearly spoken and slower than what I've seen on telemundo. I was able to understand much more than I expected. It was really great... gotta brush up on my Spanish now!
This really helps with practicing my listening skills. For things I don’t understand i can follow along the English parts.
What a great addition to language learning. Just as described it is intermediate level—the pace is good and the story is interesting. Martina Castro is a perfect host and the interplay of her commentary with the Spanish is a nice mix and definitely complements the Duolingo app!
I have been trying to learn Spanish for sometime now and a large missing piece is engagement with the language in places I'd normally just use English. I listened to this on my bus ride this morning, and loved it! Keep up the good work!
Excellent for a first episode
Amazing quality and easy to understand for intermediate Spanish learners.
This podcast is fantastically done. You can tell the quality is great and the speed of the story is perfect. Really looking forward to hearing the rest!
I love Duolingo and their product sense. Well, they pulled it off again. Hands down the best podcast of its kind. Best of all - it works hands free which is great for long car rides and commutes.
I’ve been using the Duolingo app to learn Spanish, and have finished the course. This is a great tool to keep practicing my Spanish, with more advanced content. ¡Que chevere! Gracias Duolingo :)
I love Duolingo and great storytelling. This is such an engaging way to practice my Spanish.
Duolingo does a great job of branching into intermediate-level Spanish with a really enaging story. I look forward to hearing more episodes in the coming weeks. Hopefully they'll also have other languages before long.
This is a really high quality podcasts. Reminded me of This American Life!
