Aggregated reviews for Homecoming

Now a Prime Original TV series. From Gimlet, Homecoming centers on a caseworker at an experimental facility, her ambitious supervisor, and a soldier eager to rejoin civilian life — presented in an enigmatic collage of telephone calls, therapy sessions, and overheard conversations. Starring Catherine Keener, Oscar Isaac, David Schwimmer, David Cross, Amy Sedaris, Michael Cera, Mercedes Ruehl, Alia Shawkat, Chris Gethard, and Spike Jonze.

Poorly made (2/5)

Season 1 is somewhat, interesting even though the plot and characters are bad. Season 2 is not even interesting anymore. Go elsewhere.

Good if you’re bored (2/5)

Actors are great. The plot line and character development is embarrassing. The episodes are extremely short and lack any depth. It’s only about halfway through season 2 that you even remotely know what’s happening. The TV show? Just as horrible. What a waste of talent on the writing.

so good! (5/5)

I highly recommend this. It’s way better than the TV show version and tells such an interesting story.

Amazing! (5/5)

It’s an amazing show! If only Amazon or whatever hadn’t messed with it, and the story could have found a way to continue...

FINALLY - Radio fiction done right! (5/5)

This is an incredible podcast. Draws you in and you just NEED to hear the rest. I’ve listened to various contemporary podcasts doing fiction and it’s usually hit or miss, usually miss. This gets everything right, just like the old radio shows of the past. Catherine Keener is phenomenal, and David Schwimmer is similarly great. I can’t wait to listen to Season 2...in fact, I’m not gonna. I’m gonna listen to it now.

True Radio Perfection (5/5)

This was such a fantastic show. It was such a vivid experience! Watching the tv show and it doesn’t do the radio cast or the characters justice. Great writing

I love this show!! (5/5)

Just started the seconds season and love the story. The story just keeps getting more interesting Although I have to say the drums segues make me absolutely cringe. Blaaah. So out of context and distracting. Season one segues made sense.

Season 2 was a dumpster fire (2/5)

Did they just give up on the second season?? The whole buildup of the first season (which was wonderful) was tossed out the window - no more flashbacks, no interesting relationship building, a mind-numbingly bad character fit for David Schwimmer, and no resolution to the whole story whatsoever.

Immersive (5/5)

I can't stop listening. The performances are spontaneous and vulnerable, and the immersive sound world is seamless. I don't know how you do it, but please keeping going!

Must Listen (5/5)

Enthralling and amazing character development. Hope there will be a season 3

Soldier review (1/5)

This podcast is all over the place, I’m 4 episodes in and still don’t know what the “treatment is”.

Great!! (5/5)

The storytelling was extremely well done and the acting was top notch. I really enjoyed this podcast and the character development was amazing. I just really wish they didn’t stop posting.

Good series but it just dropped off? (3/5)

Really like this podcast but the fact that when they turned it into a show they stopped posting seasons?? What if people don’t have prime? Really frustrated-thanks for leaving us hanging. Guess I’ll just google whatever happened👌🏼

Good show, but... (4/5)

...not a big fan of this version of Ross.

This is good stuff! (5/5)

I may be the only one who actually liked the music/drums. This was my first time listening to a scripted fiction podcast, and it sure made my daily commute more exciting for a couple of days. I haven’t seen the Amazon show yet, I’m not sure I really want to since I enjoyed this version so much. But I know myself, I’ll cave in and watch it eventually. Catherine Keener and all the cast were fantastic. I love Amy Sedaris, I can’t hear her voice without thinking of BoJack Horseman. Anyhoo, I’d love to listen to more scripted fiction.

AMAZING (5/5)

This is genuinely amazing. Love it. Also David Cross rocks.

So good but a few quibbles (4/5)

Loved Catherine Keener, David Schwimmer, Oscar Isaac and Amy Sedaris. The story was riveting and the production was really good. Issues: - too many commercial breaks and the same ads over and over - music in the second season - felt like it fell apart in the last two episodes, like they hurried to finish it - I wanted more! Felt like Heidi’s real motive was never really clarified, or why the whole experiment happened in the first place, or how she came to be a part of it and how much she knew about Geist to begin with...I felt like there should have been more. - I’m interested in the TV show but so bummed they didn’t get the original actors, at least for everyone but Walter (just due to age)

Amazing! (5/5)

I cannot beleive that this podcast is free! Amazing story, amazing cast. WOW! Thanks!

Love love love it (5/5)

I’m glad I stumbled upon this podcast. It’s refreshing and I starting listening before I knew all the big names behind the voices. I absolutely love Catherine Keener as an actress and love her voice. All of the cast do a fantastic job. The acting is so good and convincing and I think that would be hard to do through just voice acting. I’m a fan.

Outstanding mystery story (5/5)

. . . and who can resist Catherine Keener? (You probably know this is an excellent podcast, because they made it into a television series. But I think they made a big mistake by not keeping Catherine Keener.)

Skip 3 (2/5)

The show itself is really great, but the tagged on “making it to screen” episodes while mildly interesting, are so gushing and full of ads, self promotion it felt like daytime tv and I felt like a sucker for listening

Fantastic (5/5)

Instantly obsessed

Too many commercials! (3/5)

I like the content. I think this is well produced and has a good story. But they play the same commercials twice during a single 25-minute podcast (when I listened it was a lifeless read about True Detective and a “morning zoo” styled Squarespace ad. I run so skipping commercials is a real pain. This is too many (and too much of the exact same thing) for such a short episode. It’s almost two miles of a five-mile run.

Can’t do it anymore (2/5)

The sad thing is, I like Heidi, the overall plot, but the character David Schwimmer plays is just too over the top abusive and controlling. The acting is great, most of the characters are interesting. I held out as long as I could, but I just couldn’t take it anymore.

Keener great, writing not so much (2/5)

Unfortunately feels like they needed a woman writer instead, maybe a veteran. Oversimplifies PTSD and soldiers’ experiences, making for a rocky premise set-up. Overall, a flimsy, Hollywood take by boys who seem sheltered and distant from the characters and subjects, with too many story holes that time-jumps and vague obfuscation can’t overcome.

An Excellent listen (5/5)

I listened to this a year or so ago and was hooked. I binged the whole thing on my way to work. And now that it’s an Amazon series, I rather want to binge it again. Outstanding, engaging, intriguing. And rather addicting. In a good way.

I Wish He Wouldn’t Be There For Me (4/5)

The podcast would get five stars from me if it weren’t for David Schwimmer. His voice and the way he plays his character makes me want to put myself through covert government brainwashing.

Riveting! (5/5)

Great story! Admittedly the ending of the second season confused me a bit, but other than that I loved it. Highly recommend

Shady (2/5)

Whoever thought it was a good idea to try to trick the listeners by calling 4 commercials “Season 3”, should be fired. That is absolutely disrespectful. At this point, I don’t think I can trust anything you produce. Lying to your audience is such a black hat move.

Loved it! (5/5)

Will there be a season 3?

First Fictional Podcast I Have Ever Truly Enjoyed (5/5)

I usually hate scripted fiction podcasts, but this was a great story, 10/10 will binge again.

Great! (4/5)

Great story, execution and cast. The ending was a touch flat. One of the best fictional suspense podcasts I have come across. Struggling with endings seems to be a common thread among the fictional podcasts I listen to: The Black Tapes, Rabbits, (Limetown in progress...)...

One of a kind (5/5)

I’ve listened to dozens of podcasts and this one has been one of the most riveting I’ve ever heard. When I heard recently that there was a tv show developed from it I was THRILLED. Seriously, listen to this podcast! The voice actors are incredible and the story line will keep you hooked from the first episode.

Insanely addictive (5/5)

I watched the movie first and didn’t think I would get into the podcast.... boy was I wrong. Fantastic performances!

Why add this crappy music? (3/5)

Five stars for the story. Zero for the horrific drum solos that ruin it.

David Schwimmer- great performance! (4/5)

David brings a great performance of smooth operator. Enjoyed listening to ever scene he was in.

Ads (3/5)

Prepare for a Super Bowl amount of ads, and not the good ones. A good 20% of the play time is merril Lynch commercials. Ruins the experience.

Too many commercials (3/5)

Super entertaining but wow 16 minutes in and I’ve fast forwarded through 7minutes of commercials, that’s way excessive especially for a 22 minute episode 🙄

Love it (5/5)

So I watched this on Amazon first and then learned it was actually podcast, so now I’m having my take on it as a podcast, and LOVE it just as much as the original tv series on Amazon. Definitely recommend a listen. :)

Raw and Compelling (5/5)

An excellent story for any listener who is a fan of suspense and drama. Filled with audio recordings, phone calls and conversations that create a veil of mystery surrounding a facility that is supposed to ensure the progress of reintroducing soldiers back home. Catherine Keener, David Schwimmer and Oscar Isaac’s voices create a raw experience along with audio effects that are equally compelling.

Why did they change production? (4/5)

Season 1 was perfect. I’ve never binged a podcast before but I absolutely couldn’t stop. Everything about it was 10 stars out of 5. I start the second season and everything has changed. The conversations sound more scripted, the music is terrible and plays between scenes which totally kills the vibe, the recording quality sounds very overproduced and doesn’t have that real world feel that the first season did. I feel like they’re trying too hard now. I wish they’d go back to the production of season 1. I also wish I had stopped after the first season and let it finish like that for me.

Intriguing but....... (4/5)

What’s with the music between scenes in the second season? It ruins the flow. Like a lot. The show is somber and the music doesn’t match the vibe at all. Other than that, the show is great. Catherine Keener is amazing, I love her in everything she does and Oscar Isaac couldn’t do a bad job of he tried. David Schwimmer sounds like a sociopathic Ross Gellar :/ but he tries. All-in-all the show is amazing - but that music is awful though.

Stop having people chew and eat on the show (3/5)

I have misophonia and I struggled listening to some crucial episodes.

Super podcast (5/5)

Really enjoyed it. Surprised to read some negative reviews. First fictional podcast series that I have listened to.

Homecoming (5/5)

Whoever has given this a negative review, has an opinion that doesn’t matter. This is nothing but incredible, groundbreaking, and captivating for the podcast world. Expect it to bring on a wave of other hits that might eventually get turned into major streaming shows... just like this one... because it’s great, enough said.

MOST ENGAGING STORY! (5/5)

Catherine Keener is AMAZING! She was made for this. I was SO disappointed Julia Roberts was cast for the amazon prime show. Anyway, this podcast story was amazing, one of a kind, really good job and so glad they turned it into a show, I’m loving that too.

Love It (5/5)

Unlike any other Podcast - could not stop listening

Disappointed (5/5)

I was very disappointed Catherine Kenner was not the Star of the TV series. She made the podcast!

Don’t just watch, listen too, both are great!! (5/5)

I listened to both seasons before watching the whole Amazon series team do an amazing job adapting it to tv. My suggestion is to do both! Listen to this beautifully done podcast that inspired people like Julia Roberts to take her first ever TV role. Then watch the show that (thankfully) mostly follows the great podcast script plot. This way I could love the podcast discovery and next soak in the attention to amazing acting, detailed camera placement, music choice, etc to invoke that sense of unease and almost paranoia of the characters. The end of Amazon’s Homecoming may be different but it’s tighter, just like tv needs to be to satisfy. Just one persons opinion, but I loved experiencing the story in podcast by great voice actors, then being able to watch the story unfold and appreciate all the layers of acting, cinematography, music, etc.

One of the most original and intriguing podcasts crafted (5/5)

Very cinematic, intriguing, and entertaining. Amazing performances by all the actors in the cast. Must listen.

Listening while in the kitchen (5/5)

I just started listening to this show and I’m loving it. I thought the voice actress for Heidi was Kristie Allie! I kept picturing her until I read over the details. Anyway I find it hard to stop listening. It is a binge-worthy podcast, I haven’t gotten bored yet.

What is this podcast about? (1/5)

I am 2 episodes in and I’m so confused as to what’s happening. Don’t get what this podcast is about.

Congrats on the tv series! (5/5)

Well made, good enough that I just saw the tv show commercial on instagram!

Captivating show! (5/5)

What an intruguing podcast. So glad I was able to binge both seasons. And I did, back to back over just a few days 🤓🤓🤓. Super excited for the TV show on Amazon, but I'll be bummed that it's not Katherine Keener, she was so compelling. Definitely going to dive into the other fiction podcasts from Gimlet Media.

Engaging (5/5)

So rare to find a podcast with good voice acting- it is top notch here. And the story is fantastic.

A Delight (5/5)

Extremely well done. The casting, the sound(s), the writing. Every detail was so well thought out and perfectly executed to make an easy to follow, suspenseful, smart, and vivid story. I can’t wait for the show, though I’ll miss Catherine Keener.

Meh (1/5)

This may have been a sort of cool (although already been done) concept for a story but the dialogue writing is so so bad. It’s like listening to bad over-acted TV. Catherine Keener is able to save some of it because she is awesome but... :( Disappointing. Real people don’t talk like this = bad writing blues! I’m really surprised this got optioned for TV.

Are You Kidding Me? (1/5)

Listened to the first two episodes. Very disjointed and wasted my time. Maybe the Julia Roberts movie will be better, but I will not listen to another episode. Very disappointed.

Glad I found this (5/5)

Characters come alive - I cared about them. Sound effects added s lot

Can’t stand eating voices (2/5)

Eating voices ruin the podcast.

Amazing! (5/5)

I’ve been mesmerized by this. First all fictional podcast series that I’ve ever listened to, and it’s fantastic. Perfect for listening to while out for a run or at the gym. Didn’t want to put it down! Finally, the podcast genre is getting some legs. Keep up the good work! Just wish episodes were longer.

Great podcast. (4/5)

The cast and story was great. Not the greatest for people with misophonia that do not enjoy audible eating and drinking sounds, though. So one point off for that. I would have been fine with a little, but there are like 5+ segments spanning multiple minutes with a lot of excessive eating and drinking sounds, and talking with food in mouth, etc. “Do you mind if I eat?”.. Yes, I do when my earbuds are inside your mouth.

Good (4/5)

Great story. Can’t wait for the tv series. Didn’t like the drums in season two. Waste of time in my opinion. But overall very well done.

Wow.... (5/5)

First fictional podcast series I’ve tuned into and this has really set the bar high for other attempts I may listen to. Gimlet knows quality writing and their production of this show into Television is a testament of their creative and mind blowing writing.

Great storytelling (5/5)

Compelling show. Spectacular use of the podcast medium. Great story, acting, and production.

Fantastic in every way (5/5)

The emotions are real I this one and I recommend listening to it all the way through at once. I hope we can have more stories like this. Highly recommend.

Season 3 (4/5)

Was really hoping that there would be a season 3 podcast, not tv show. Any chance we will listen to at least one last podcast?

Amazing podcast with amazing voice actors (5/5)

I just finished both seasons of Homecoming and I absolutely loved it! The story totally engrossed me and everyone did such an amazing job. Catherine Keener and Davis Schwimmer were fantastic. I imagined them acting out the scenes the entire time and the story unfolded perfectly. I hope the actors in the new prime series do this show justice. I’m having a hard time imagining anyone else in these roles. If there was a negative, it was the interval music in season two. It didn’t flow. As much as I disliked it, I couldn’t dock the whole the whole show for it.

Babbling (1/5)

I’m 2 1/2 episodes in and can’t continue. The way the characters interact is so annoying! Talking over each other, background noise in every phone conversation. In the first three episodes David Schwimmer’s character (I don’t know his name and don’t care to look it up) has called while running through an airport, describing his surroundings, from a cab in Dubai, describing his surroundings, from his daughter’s wedding, describing the surroundings.... It seems like the writers are trying to add extraneous info to prolong the story. The main female character also rambles constantly. I’m out!

Excellent (5/5)

Really good acting and interesting and fast-pacing storytelling

More, please! (5/5)

Big fan of the format of storytelling. It’s like catching snippets from friends and acquaintances, with just enough for a story but not enough to figure out the ending straight away. Bravo!

Addicting (5/5)

Listened to both seasons within 2 days. A must listen. Can’t wait to see what they do next!

Please take out the drum solos (2/5)

I loved the format of Season 1 but the drum solos in Season 2 need to be taken out. They’re too loud and distracting.

Fascinating story (5/5)

I love the way the writers make the story unfold, but they don’t make you feel stupid for not knowing what’s going on. At first it seems like a fairly by-the-numbers conspiracy thriller, which was enough to get me hooked, but the five star rating is because as I learned more about the characters and their backgrounds, I realized this was so much more. It doesn’t try to create tension through overdramatized interactions or distracting music, but rather slowly incubates a feeling of intrigue and the vague but terrifying idea that something far more sinister exists than what appears on the surface. You only learn about this stuff as fast as the main character does, which engenders an emotional connection that is very difficult to pull off in an audio drama. I am also super excited for the Amazon series based on this story!

Great fictional podcast!! (5/5)

Loved this & I look forward to Season 2 as well as the TV show on Amazon. The actors were tremendous & the story took turns you never expected!!

Really Good! (4/5)

Such a well written podcast! I love the cast and a great plot. While I will admit that the first time I listened to this podcast I could not get through it, after giving it a second try this podcast got me through marathon training!

It’s okay (3/5)

It was entertaining for the most part but David schwimmer’s charter killed it for me. I felt his character was childish and just not very well put together. I can see where they were trying to take it. Episode feel rushed but that’s just my opinion. I will give it another chance but don’t high hopes it’ll be something I’ll listen to much longer!

Done With Gimlet Fiction (1/5)

Whether I liked it or not is not the issue, this program gets the same review as Sandra. If you want to test out shows to see if you can put them tv, fine, just don't waste my time building them up. Just go pitch them straight to Hollywood.

Sound quality not great (4/5)

The drums in between cuts are very annoying and sometimes it’s hard to hear the conversations with all the added background noise. Otherwise it’s an interesting story and the cast is very good.

One of a kind (5/5)

Gimlet Media has become a favorite in our household. I came across Homecoming after I binged my way through every available episode of Sandra and was desperate for more fiction drama. I was hooked a few minutes in to the first episode. It’s the equivalent to an addictively delicious book with a cliffhanger at the end of every chapter so you just have to keep reading! The acting, the brilliant sound editing, the storyline that keeps you at the edge of your seat. I can’t get enough! I need more! Why aren’t there more podcasts like this?! Since my obsession with Sandra and Homecoming, I have found many other great offerings from Gimlet. We love Chompers for our daily routines, Science Vs. is utterly intriguing and feeds my brain, Story Pirates keeps us entertained on rainy days and car trips, and I blew through The Habitat in to few commutes. I can’t recommend Homecoming enough! It’s a good book for your ears. Soon enough the whole family will be muttering “this is a production of gimlet media” and you’ll do it with a smile.

Loves this podcast (4/5)

Very well written. Suspenseful. Excellent cast. First season a little better than first. Music terrible in second season, that drum gave me a headache.

Love the podcast - hate the ads (4/5)

Love the podcast - but it's extremely annoying to hear ads for other podcasts in the middle of the episode. Almost annoying enough to stop listening altogether.

Amazing podcast (5/5)

You become absolutely engrossed in the story from the very first episode. Highly recommend.

Just so good (5/5)

Ever since I finished Limetown season one, I have been on the search for a fictional podcast that equals it in voice acting, plot intrigue, and production value. Finally, my search is over. Homecoming is just so, so good. There are a lot of great fictional podcast out there, but this is definitely one of the best. Can’t recommend it highly enough.

Addicting, amazing cast (5/5)

I tried listening to"Homecoming" when it first came out and couldn't get into it. But after finishing "Sandra" and becoming more familiar with the modern radio drama genre, I have to say, "Homecoming" is even better! So excited for the upcoming TV show.

Crushed it (5/5)

This podcast is so unique and fascinating as it takes you through kind bending turns and plot twists. I LOVED it.

Riveting. Suspenseful. Phenomenal. (5/5)

Homecoming breaks the mold of traditional fictional podcast. The first season has you completely enamored by the incredible writing and this intriguing story line that doesn’t leave you confused, yet doesn’t let you in on everything all at once. The characters are fantastically cast. Like seriously what an amazing cast of actors! Something I really Love is the way the sound design differentiates between the recordings/flashbacks and real time. Season 2 DOES NOT disappoint with a couple new characters an an amazing continuation of the story! I FREAKING LOVE THE END OF SEASON 2! It leaves you excited and concerned but still leaving you content about what was resolved. I definitely suggest this podcast to anyone who enjoys some great story telling. Amazing.

Excellent (5/5)

The rest of the world hasn't caught on yet, but Gimlet's fiction shows are legit. I've been hooked on this one for a while.

Gripping (5/5)

Like a novel you can’t put down. They’re making into a TV series but listen first. The cast is excellent.

What happened?? (3/5)

Is it just me or did this interesting, exciting, suspenseful story just peter out in the last episode?? Very disappointing. Does any one else feel this way?

So much fun. (5/5)

Great voice work, entertaining, intriguing. Can't wait for it to come back.

Stick With It (5/5)

I have to say: episodes 1 and 2 weren’t that compelling. But by episode 3 it kicked fully into gear and was excellent entertainment. Well written, well acted, thought provoking, funny...Highly recommend.

What happened? (3/5)

I loved the first one - the static sounds between segments was perfect to keep the story moving forward. I wanted to keep listening intensely! But for season 2 they had more money obviously and the harsh drumming between segments is grating and horribly annoying. I’m following a detailed story and then suddenly I’m being bombarded by a loud noise. I feel like I’m slowly being driven crazy by change of sound levels. Any chance I can go to Homecoming and get rid of this experience? I can’t be the only person who feels this way-right? Please go back to the style of the first season.

Starts out amazingly (4/5)

The first season was awesome. The writing and acting was fantastic. Somehow it fizzles during Season 2 and the end is difficult to understand. IMO.

Thrilling Character-Based Drama (5/5)

A thriller that digs into the human cost of excesses in the military-industrial complex.

Not so good (3/5)

Useless background sounds, drums to use up time, monotonous voices... not do good.

Rock solid (5/5)

I'm new to podcasts but someone told me this was the one worth listening to, so what the hell, I gave it a shot. Wasn't disappointed. I'm not into the whole "Let's talk to the listener" thing -- which usually sounds like NPR on Red Bull -- but this featured actual performances. And decent sound design. Hope the show continues or at leasts splinters into side projects because it makes me think this whole podcast thing might have a future after all.

Astoundingly well done ✨ (5/5)

This is without a doubt my favorite bit of any media that I have ever consumed. I recommend it to everyone I know and they all adore it. I’m listening through for the sixth time.

Fantastic performances (5/5)

Loved this. Keeps you listening, not just because of the story but because of the characters. Also unexpectedly funny

Best Podcast ever! (5/5)

Captivating! Great creative story with first class cast!

Wow (5/5)

Highly recommend.

The best audio drama out there (5/5)

I am OBSESSED. Wow. Amazing cast and amazing story. Love the approach that they took with this drama - it’s not a journalist trying to tell some story and using podcasting as a platform. IT’S JUST SO GOOD!

A complete and utter disappointment (1/5)

Homecoming told a bizarre story that could have been cool. Instead we got an absurd story with a conclusion that left me feeling like I’d just wasted how ever many hours of my life it took to listen to all of the episodes. And how is it that David Schwimmer ALWAYS plays a role that makes you want to gouge your ears out with an ice pick? He opens his mouth and I’m instantly annoyed.

Annoying drum beats (1/5)

Hate those annoying drum beats every 3 min

Great (5/5)

Great

Don’t know how I hadn’t heard of this yet (5/5)

SO good. I binged both seasons and am hoping there will be another one soon!

Gimlet's reach into scripted fiction (3/5)

I'm finding myself enjoying Gimlet's move into scripted podcasts less than their other podcasts. It is possible that I just don't like scripted podcasts. That being said, it is still a pretty great story and amazing production.

BEST Scripted Podcast. Of All Time. (5/5)

This was my first scripted podcast and I didn’t know what to expect. I am SO glad I took a chance and listened. It’s absolutely fantastic, from the acting, to the writing, direction, music, and more. This ties with ‘Bronzeville’ as the BEST scripted podcast. Ever. Because it’s all audio it’s a completely new kind of storytelling, and this production team are all pros. The experience of unraveling this mystery was thrilling. Catherine Keener plays her character to a T: heart-breakingly fragile yet you can feel her strength just beneath the surface. Oscar Isaac made me laugh the very first episode; he’s just perfect for this role. I rooted for his character since day one. David Schwimmer is so ridiculously good at being the villain. He is simply brilliant in this role. I recommend this show with every ounce of my being and REALLY hope there will be a third season!!

Homecoming (5/5)

OMG! I literally fell in love with the characters (except Colin ~ I hate ~ Colin). The way the characters are developed in this Podcast is how we come to know people in the real world, bit by bit. Strangers begin as a mystery, then through words and deeds they reveal themselves. The most frightening aspect of this drama is that it might not be fiction.

Loved The Cast But Not “The Plot” (3/5)

I could listen to Catherine Keener and Amy Sedaris all the time. Even David Schwimmer did a great job at smarmy (although he’ll always be the nerd, Ross). After listening to all the episodes I’m still wondering what the point was.

Great show! (5/5)

Very addictive. Is there a season 3 coming?

SEASONS (5/5)

Hi I enjoyed this TREMENDOUSLY! But my question is, will there be other seasons or a continuation? I hope the producers read this and answer. Thanks 😄

Great listen (5/5)

Superb voice acting, engaging plot. Wish I could find more stories produced to this level of quality.

Really so good (5/5)

Excited to hear it’s turning into a tv show but wondering if that means the end of the podcast. I’ve loved the format with the ebook giving the other side of the story. The best!

Never been into fictional dram podcasts.... (5/5)

But Homecoming is absolutely amazing.

Binge worthy (5/5)

The podcast was done so well that within the first few seconds, you could set the scene in your mind. I sometimes forgot I was listening to a podcast and felt like I was watching TV; I literally sat on my couch just to listen and visualize. The story, the actors, the sound effects.. bravo, Gimlet!

I’m so invested in this story. (5/5)

Finally listened. Just binged it over the past two days. What a phenomenal performance, and I cant’t wait for more. I know it’s being worked into a TV show, and that’s awesome - I’ll def watch, but I need more of the podcast ASAP. The finale of season 2, at the very end - that hit me hard. But now I need more! The thing I love about great podcasts and storytelling (aside from my love for audio production), is that I can listen anywhere. There’s just something special about storytelling via audio that you just can’t get through other media. Thanks so much for the amazing story, performance and production. Can’t wait for more. I’ve been a Gimlet fan for years now. Gimlet never fails to impress.

First podcast review (5/5)

Enjoyed this so much I finally reviewed one- also my first fictional podcast and I was impressed. Looking forward to the next season!

SO GOOD (5/5)

one of my favs.

Great just disappointing end. (5/5)

It is great, very interesting but the way it finished was disappointing... great work anyway!!!

Desperate for a new season (5/5)

Best podcast ever. The storyline, the acting. Because nothing compares, I've listened again and again.

Production Values. (5/5)

Cool story and the audio engineering from voices to music are all amazing.

Wow (5/5)

Just wow

Riveting (5/5)

Active duty Soldier. I listen to lots of podcasts. I was a fan of most of the actors before listening. I am now a fan of all. Well written and acted. Completely different than anything being done in podcast world. Groundbreaking

Binge-worthy (5/5)

Super entertaining with great character development, mystery, and suspense.

Favorite podcast by far (5/5)

I hope this comes back for a new season! I haven’t found another fictional podcast quite like this and wish I could listen again for the first time

Not bad but not great either (3/5)

This podcast is alright. I do like fictional podcasts, but had I listened to this week to week and not once two seasons were already available, I’m not sure it would’ve kept me hooked. Also, the drum beat music between segments in season two was an odd choice. It’s very cheesy and takes away from the story rather than offering a thoughtful transition.

Can’t get into it (1/5)

I really tried to listen to the first episode but it was just so hollow and lifeless I couldn’t keep going, I had high hopes but I couldn’t make it past the first episode

#FireBecky (5/5)

That's all!

Skip it. (1/5)

So slow.... it is like listening to two people talk on the phone about the weather. Poorly written.

Couldn’t stop listening. (5/5)

Highly recommend

Good story, problematic audio (3/5)

I loved the first season. For some reason the second season has chosen as its inter-scene music pounding, energetic drums instead of quiet piano music. Aside from being just wrong for the tone of the story, it's so loud I have to lower the volume every time it comes on. Please, guys, no more drums. Nobody wants a recurring drum solo in their podcast.

I want more! (5/5)

When are more episides coming out?!

Compelling and well-made (5/5)

I listened to both seasons for the first time in September 2017. Five months later, I still find myself thinking about the characters. That’s the sign of some great storytelling. Catherine Keener and Oscar Isaac bring warmth and depth to a suspenseful, compelling story.

DaveMcLean (5/5)

What I imagine a radio serials sounded like in the day.

Love it (5/5)

A little hard to figure out what’s happening in the beginning, but stick with it! What a captivating story with great twists and a dive into mind control. I wish there were another 12 episodes!

Looove this podcast! (5/5)

Brilliant writing and acting! Counting the minutes to the next season.

So much fun! (5/5)

What a well done podcast! Very fun to listen to.

SO GOOD! (5/5)

This podcast is INCREDIBLE. The story has plenty of intrigue and the performances are top notch. Have to say casting is SPOT ON. Catherine Keener, Oscar Isaac & David Schwimmer are perfect here. Super, super disappointed at the casting of Julia Roberts, etc. for the Amazon series. Bobby Cannavale is fantastic, but Schwimmer really set the bar for the Colin Belfast character. Had there been a way to have these amazing actors continue their roles outside of the podcast format could have been quite something to see. As far as the podcast & additional written content go... highly recommend!

I can't say enough good things about homecoming. (5/5)

Catherine Keener is incredible, the story is compelling, and the dialogue is entertaining and convincing. Finally, a podcast that I can enjoy without having to look past the usually cheesy banter.

Addictive! (5/5)

This podcast is just as engaging as any tv show!

Classic Radio Theater (5/5)

Great podcast! Wish there were more “radio theater” dramas like this out there.

Oh my gosh....so good!! (5/5)

Love it. Make more seasons.

Addicting (5/5)

Really engaging story! The way this podcast is out together from the voices , music, ambient sounds etc are all produced and mixed to make the story come to life!

Well done. Objectionable ending. (3/5)

I liked the editing and acting. There were some significant flaws in the plotting, especially at the end. I would recommend this for the acting and editing, but with significant qualifiers.

Terrific podcast (5/5)

With these folks for cast what else would you expect! The storyline is compelling. Can’t get enough.

Addicting (5/5)

The only fictional pod I subscribe to. A must listen!

Love (5/5)

Love love loved this podcast. Listened to it a few times all the way through. I want more!!!!

Finally a scripted pod worth listening to (5/5)

This podcsts proves once and for all that it you simply can't do a good scripted podcast unless you have quality voice acting. This stands out above the rest and leaves you wanting more.

Fantastic (5/5)

Beautiful writing and acting. I never feel distracted or annoyed that it’s fiction. I can never predict what will happen and am always excited for a new episode. I wish there were more podcasts like this.

The best fiction podcast. Ever. (5/5)

From the first five minutes I was hooked. The episodes couldn’t be released quick enough. Well acted, well written, well staged, sheerly brilliant.

I wanted to like it (3/5)

I love Keener and DoD conspiracy stories ... but the yelling and screaming by the Schwimmer character lessened the cerebralness and just became annoying to the point of turning off. Ugh. I liked where it was going but the characters needed a little more depth.

More homecoming!! (5/5)

Give us more! Loved first two seasons and amazing voices and acting combined with unique and intriguing story telling!

Gripping! (5/5)

Very well done!!! Like an audio book but crafted more for listening, which made this a very entertaining experience. Moved quickly and delivered a black mirror-esque story with excellent acting. Was invested from the get go and binged the whole series. More please!!

Forgot it wasn’t TV (5/5)

Great characters and plot! Can’t wait to watch, I mean listen to, the next story.

Awesome show! (5/5)

Hands down the best podcast I’ve ever heard. Loved Katherine kiener so much and Amy sedaris why aren’t you in more serious roles? The women of this show rule! I listened to entire series back to back in 2 days. It’s that good!!

This was great. (5/5)

HOOKED

Incredibly Boring (1/5)

Honestly have no clue why this show has so many great reviews unless they're fake. I kept listening to the episodes thinking they must get better, but they don't. The series was just boring and uneventful as a whole. Even the more interesting parts of the series are still only mildly entertaining at best.

Awesome. (5/5)

Simply captivating, it’s like your watching a movie play out in your head.

Excellent (5/5)

Exciting, binged through the series, please create more!!

Whoa whoa (5/5)

I haven't never listened to a podcast ever in my life and I'm 20 years old. This was my very first podcast series that I have started listening to and finished. It was so amazing and mind-boggling. Honestly, one of the best things that I have experienced in a while. It was like a TV inside my head, I didn't think I would be that into it but dang! I was hooked from the first episode. The characters and the plot were amazingly written. It was a huge surprise to hear David Schwimmer's voice. I recognized it right away too. Thank you for creating this piece of art. <3

A top notch radio play with A-list talent (5/5)

A top notch radio play with A-list talent

Wow (5/5)

I’m glad gimlet is trailblazing the medium of podcast to new places. This is wonderful modern radio drama.

What happened? (4/5)

There've been no new episodes since August! Where is Homecoming? I loved it!

LOVE IT! (5/5)

This is to good. I cannot believe I'm just now listening to this. It's so good!

In Love with Homecoming (5/5)

I’m new to the series but it’s so interesting! I’m hooked, and I can’t wait to learn more about the Homecoming initiative.

Spike Jonzeeeeee (4/5)

SPIKE!!!

Do yourself a favor and listen to this (5/5)

I just recently gained an interest in podcasts and actually found this from a Reply All episode. It has become my absolute favorite and I recommend it to all of my friends! Cannot wait for season 3!

Interesting with too much telephone ranting (3/5)

I’m very interested in the premise. Catherine Keener and the rest of the cast are great. But there is waaaaay too much of David Schwimmer ranting into the telephone. It is painful and makes up about 50% of every episode. Also the ambient noise effects could stand to be toned down a bit.

Loved! (5/5)

I never listen to scripted podcasts like this but started this one after my friend recommended it. Best decision ever! The plot is awesome and the actors are amazing. The only downside is that I finished the entire thing in two days/:

AMAZING! (5/5)

Really great story and acting! I would listen to this on my way to class, while doing homework, I was so hooked! What are you waiting for, go listen to it already!

Best podcast of all time (5/5)

This was such a good listen. I was hooked on the first few minutes. The story was captivating, and the familiar voices contributed to the experience.

great listen (5/5)

great story telling!

Breakthrough (5/5)

This is completely engrossing, what they do with sound is amazing. I forget I am not watching a show.

Brilliant Fictional Radio Show (5/5)

Homecoming is a great serialized show featuring Catherine Keener and David Swimmer and Amy Sedaris among others. A corporation to treat soldiers suffering from PTSD uses a experimental medication given to the soldiers without their knowledge plans with the military to erase memory and send them back to battle. But the Center social worker played by Catherine Keener goes off plan.

Finally (5/5)

Finally a fictional podcast that I enjoy.

S2 Fell Apart (3/5)

Stopped downloading the novelettes and didn't listen to final 2 episodes. Loved S1.

Binge listened! Couldn’t stop. (5/5)

This was a unique experience for me - like watching a really gripping movie with the picture turned off, the entire story being told through sound. The acting, the soundtrack/music, the sound-pictures created around the dialogue, and of course the story itself - all combine to create a totally immersive experience.

Audio Drama (5/5)

Love Gimlet stepping into the audio drama game. This one is worth a listen to everyone.

really good (5/5)

sucked me in

Fantastic (5/5)

I can’t wait for the next episode every week. Suspenseful and well written. I love Catherine Keener. One of our underrated actresses.

reminds me of radio dramas (5/5)

I loved listening to this, it reminds me of old radio dramas that let you fill in much of the information in your head. Very entertaining, and lots of fun to try to figure out what is going on.

It’s fine (3/5)

For all the hype Homecoming tries to generate on how unique it is, it’s really just an old fashioned radio serial. And that’s plenty. It’s good. It’s fine. Katherine Keener is one of my favorite human beings, and I adore Oscar Isaac. I’m a huge fan of both Amy Sedaris and David Cross, but hearing the comics is a bit jarring on a show that is serious, and is serous about how serious it is. It’s fine.

WHOA - this is ... gripping (5/5)

The first two episodes I wasn't sure ... there are no other fictional podcasts in my feed, but something clicked and then I binge listened and talked about it obsessively. Season 2 is just as good - just fantastic listening. Could be great for a flight, road trip, train trip, or every day listening.

Season 1 AMAZING, Season 2 blah (3/5)

The first season was amazing, both the story and the actors. It kept me really engaged and I couldn’t wait to hear what would happen on the next episode. Season two annoyed me and was hard to listen to. The story just wasn’t as good. I kept waiting for it to pick up and get better but it just never got there.

Season 2, what happened? (2/5)

I loved Season 1, it was incredible...acting, story, sound design. Season 2...yikes. The story goes no where and the sound design is just so predictable and intrusive and awful.

Excellent storytelling (5/5)

Finished the first six episodes and they’re all great. Looking forward to season 2. This podcast is definitely worth your time.

Engaging (5/5)

Excellent podcast that captures your attention and holds it. Looking forward to many more episodes!

Very interesting show (5/5)

I haven’t finished yet, but I am enjoying it so far.

Love it! (5/5)

Well written, reminds me of the old radio shows with an actual cast. Wish there were more out there like this. Hoping we get a 3rd season real soon!

Good story, but season 2 fell short (4/5)

Season 1 captured me and I couldn't wait for season 2. Then season 2 comes out, and it falls short. The loud in your face music interruptions are aweful! I'm losing myself in the story, then bam! I'm yanked out of it by this stupid "Me, Myself, and Irene" music beat. Completely ruined season 2. I hope they don't do the same thing in season 3.

Ugh - I wanted to like it (3/5)

I like the actors, it's not badly written, I just could not bring myself to care. Somehow the characters were more distasteful than "real" (which I believe was the goal). It makes me sad because I was really excited about this, wish I'd been able to engage with it.

Favorite Podcast (5/5)

Amazing story telling and character roster!!

Excellent (5/5)

Highly highly enjoyable story that will have you at the edge of your seat! Wonderful story arcs and characters that you can't wait to hear more of!

Meh... (2/5)

I really tried to give it a chance, but I just couldn’t get into it. I think the dialogue between characters is sometimes disorganized.

Second season fell short (4/5)

First season was novel, fascinating, suspenseful. I ended up listening to the season twice to understand some of the time jumps better. But first complaint of S2: WTH with the different interlude music? (Hate it.) And a much more linear storyline... but not enough story. Looking forward to a great wrapup with S3.

Binge worthy (5/5)

Listened to both seasons in one day and all I can say is I WANT MORE. Gimlet is creating content worth turning the television off for and I LIVE FOR THAT! Sincerely from the bottom of my heart, thank you! I think the world needs more of this content and I thank you for delivering a thoughtful piece that is captivating and binge worthy.

Found one! (5/5)

Finding a good podcast these days is so hit and miss...I was super excited from the first episode because I knew it would be great. The roles are believable and well acted and the story strings you along without being too unbelievable so that you try to figure out what will happen next or what is really going on or who the bad guys or good guys really are. LOVED IT.

Feels so real! (5/5)

The quality, style, and thoughtfulness of this podcast so fantastically immerse you in the story. Definitely recommend!

Pulls you in (5/5)

Very entertaining!!

Keeps you interested (5/5)

Each episode leaves me wanting more. Can't wait for each new episode!

Well written drama (5/5)

Always excited for what will happen next

One of my favorites (5/5)

As a recently retired combat veteran I really enjoy the storyline. Inclusion of actors with such talented and recognizable voices like David Schwimmer and David Cross make it even better.

So addicting you cant stop listening (5/5)

Best podcast on the internet

O2Bkeith (3/5)

A decent short story with potential imbedded in an Apple iBook advertisement.

I’m hooked (5/5)

I have never liked fiction podcasts but this is incredibly well done. The sound design is incredible and they picked great actors. Can’t wait to hear more.

Infuriating. I can't stop listening. (5/5)

I have never heard someone as much as I hate Colin. And I can't stop listening to fund out what horrible thing he's going to try next.

Interesting but short!! (4/5)

This is a new kind of podcast for me and I was definitely a fan. There are lots of different formats of the audio and the characters are great. My only complaints are 1. It's kind of frustrating that the actors hesitate in their voices almost every time they speak. 2. The episodes ARE SO SHORT. They're like 20 min long. I want more!

A-list acting, C-list writing (2/5)

The characters are annoying. It seems like the entire show is predicated on people talking over one another on phone calls. The story doesn't make sense and though it draws you in after the first episode or two, literally nothing happens for the rest of the 1st or 2nd season. Incredibly bored. The actors deserved better writing.

Yessss!!! A true radio drama for modern times! (5/5)

This show is successful on so many levels - a true modern radio drama that has you on the edge of your seat!

Love (5/5)

Make more! Make more! Make more!

Randomly turns into a comedy (1/5)

Season 1 was interesting and suspenseful-largely due the two main characters having a lot of chemistry. Unfortunately, Oscar Isaac is mostly absent in season 2 and the protagonist becomes a sad mess that nearly every male character is attracted to for some reason. Also, someone made a dumb decision to make season 2 have a huge dramatic genre shift and the podcast does a complete flip from suspense drama to bumbling spy comedy.

Fantastic story! (5/5)

I love the podcast! My only issue is that every time I hear David Schwimmer's voice, I picture Ross as Colin. A very small issue!

Awesome (5/5)

Loved this podcast! Great work!

Disappointing (1/5)

Ended up not being worth the time. Kept on expecting and hoping something interesting would happen.

Catherine Keener... (5/5)

I absolutely love her!!! Her voice is amazing for a serial podcast.

Great PCast (5/5)

Love this podcast!

Addicted to the fullest (5/5)

I am just *now* getting into podcasts because I am not a very auditory person~ more visual than anything~ or so I thought, until I stumbled delightfully upon this podcast and have been binging it ever since... it blends an old-timey 50s radio show influence with such modern elements and compelling characters and storyling~ and the acting is phenomenal.... Catherine Keener has me completely roped in with her naturalness and quirky calm, and I even like David Schwimmer... he is perfectly turned out as the boinker you love to hate. Oscar Isaac~ the whole cast really~ well, all except for Amy Sedaris' annoying cutthroat shrillness~ makes for the most engaging time I've spent listening to my phone~ ever.

Audiobook quality, terrific performances (5/5)

I listen to a lot of audiobooks, and this podcast is one of the best audiobook stories I've ever listened to! Very good production values, great story, and wonderful voice acting by Catherine Keener, David Schwimmer and Amy Sedaris not to mention the supporting cast members. Catherine Keener and David Schwimmer have a great chemistry, and both of their performances complemented the others. I haven't been exposed much to Catherine Keener other work in an hour, but I am a convert now and look forward to more of her acting career My main criticism is that I wish Catherine Keener's character was able to develop a little more self-confidence as the story progressed. One of her character's signature ticks is speaking in a halting manner, and often sounding like an airhead, though there are some underlying reasons based on the story that she comes off that way. Still, I think the writers could have made her a stronger person whose life revolved around more than pursuing a man in the hopes of becoming romantically involved, like developing some other meaning in her life. Nonetheless, I look forward to hearing more from the podcast writers, producers, and actors. I would love to see Schwimmer and Keener branch out into long form audiobooks, (while still doing podcasts) and I wouldn't be surprised to hear that they land some high profile audiobook narration gigs.

Repetitive (1/5)

The story is okay, but characters feel empty. Each character only knows how to do one thing. Colin only knows how to yell at Heidi, Heidi only knows how to be whiny and submissive, etc. It gets really repetitive and annoying.

Great first season. Disastrous second season. (3/5)

The first season was FANTASTIC. Stellar cast, sound design, and intriguing story. Then there's the second season. Oscar Isaac is BARELY in it. Probably because Gimlet couldn't get much time with him, given how busy of an actor he is. Hence the tie in novel. The addition of the Birdman-transition drum interludes do nothing but break immersion. Not to mention how the second season's story didn't really go anywhere. IF there is a third season, they should just end the story there. Excited about the TV show.

Thank you! (5/5)

Thank you for this podcast-- I'm constantly watching for more episodes to come out!! I'm fully hooked and in love with the cast.

Waste of time (1/5)

I am so mad at this podcast for wasting my dang time. Just insulting.

Interest twists keep me wanting more! (5/5)

Something different, intriguing story, suspensful, great acting. More please! Katherine Kenner is outstanding!

Highly enjoyable (5/5)

I listen to this podcast whenever I'm in the car. It is amazing!

Love this!! (5/5)

Easy to follow and entertaining!!! Made me addicted instantly!

Amazing (5/5)

Love this. Thanks so much for doing it, keep up the great work!!!!

So addictive (5/5)

I binged those entire series in about a week. I can't wait to hear more.

Can't get enough (5/5)

Love love love

Wow. (5/5)

This is the first review I've ever written... for anything. But that just goes to show you how how amazing and entertaining I found this podcast to be. I listened to seasons 1 & 2 within a matter of hours. The audio was impeccable and the story line engaging.

Love (4/5)

I fell in love with season one. Was so sad when it ended. Season two is good but I enjoyed the sessions in season one more. Just an adjustment. Very well done and nice plot. I tried to get on board with the iBooks thing this seasons but I just honestly didn't have the time to read the chapters each week so I gave up. I like the idea though and would like to explore it when I have more time. Hope season 3 is released soon!!

Brilliant storytelling (5/5)

I rarely like fiction podcasts, but Homecoming is amazing.

Homecoming is a great slow burn (5/5)

Homecoming is a really compelling audio drama. The acting is so natural it's almost relaxing, but the subject matter keeps you enthralled. Can't wait for season 3!

Why? (1/5)

Why would you think that I'd want to read a book when I've subscribed to a podcast that I listen to in my car? Doesn't that defeat the purpose? SPOILER AHEAD Also... nothing substantial happened in season two, and I find it odd that .0079 of the 'dose' ruined Heidi's memory of 2 full years.

Lost me in Season 2 (3/5)

Not exactly sure why but season 2 seems too contrived and I have lost interest. Maybe fictional podcasts are not my thing.

So well done! (5/5)

Well written, well acted, and sooooo well executed!! I usually stick to news style podcasts but this foray into fiction is amazing! I can't wait for the new season!

didn't think i'd like it...BUT (5/5)

total accident, after i got past the first ep, this thing sucked me in. really liked it, for the drama and intrigue.

Perfection (5/5)

I love this podcast! I imagine this is what we would be entertaining ourselves with as a human race if visual story telling never came along. I love this story, I love the contributors, and I love tuning in for new episodes! Thank you for creating this gift!

Theatre for Ears (5/5)

With low advertising and great acting this podcast was absolutely fantastic! I loved it enough to log in and write a review so that's something.

A Cautionary Tale about How We Treat Veterans (5/5)

Expertly acted, written, and edited. A compelling narrative with an important message.

Good (4/5)

Good story 👌🏻

Brilliant, well voiced (4/5)

All the players were brilliant. Story line was great. I was surprisingly pleased that I recognized the voices and how it was acted out in my imagination. Chris Gethard was a great surprise. I took a star for two reasons. As a hard of hearing person the audio quality suffered. They replays of "audio tapes" was awful. I understood none of it, I feel a little cheated because of it. And I'm kind of a literal person so I really didn't understand the last episode. All that aside, I did truly enjoy this one.

Missed Potential (2/5)

I found the concept intriguing, but the folow-though to be clumsy and painful to listen through. The actors seemed to do their jobs, so it must be the writing and direction that is so lacking. Very sophomoric, in my opinion.

So good (5/5)

Love this podcast. I am hooked, the story is fantastic!

Engaging (5/5)

Well produced, engaging story. Excellent voice acting. Only Amy Sedaris seemed like she was in a high school production. Less cartoony, Amy.

A+ for great acting and directing but f- for dull story (1/5)

Listened to both seasons simply because the acting is so so good. I stuck it out believing the story would develop into something interesting but it didn’t happen. The characters are all awful and mean spirited. Even Amy Sedaris who can do no wrong can’t save this from being mind numbingly dull and pointless. I do love the use of drums for scene transitions.

So good! (5/5)

Immersive and fascinating. Really well written. I couldn't wait till the next episode came out every week.

Love it (5/5)

Really great podcast! Look forward to each new episode!

Awesome! (5/5)

The story keeps your interest, and each episode is just long enough. Great jpb!

Subtle but Enticing (5/5)

It was interesting seeing the dynamic shift between characters. They're complicated, they're flawed and they're real. I didn't know what to expect with this podcast but it was done really well!

Great Story -- average production (4/5)

I'm giving it four stars because, even though I have my qualms about certain production choices, this narrative still keeps me intereted. I don't mind the shorter episodes so longs as they move the story along. What I'm not liking in the second season is the transition music chosen. It does not match the mood of the individual scenes or the podcast as a whole AT ALL, and is actually starting to annoy me. More so, it plays for wayyyyy too long, sometimes taking up ten seconds of airtime. It's unnecessary, and is only used to add minutes to the show. I get it; they're trying to fill for time, but it is not working. Keep the silence instead. Please reconsider this choice going into the third season (if there is one; not sure if season two is where Walter's story ends). That said, I am enjoying the novella companion to this season. Well done on that part.

A little boring (1/5)

Started off kind of interesting but storyline got really slow. The writing is corny. The acting is probably as good as it can be even with the writing. The music reminds me of the music from SNL when they perform that weird play on stage. I do admit that once you get into it you do want to keep listening but only because you want to see where it is going with the hope it will improve. Definitely not one of gimlets better shows.

Captivating (5/5)

I was instantaneously hooked from the first episode! Can't for season 3!

Amazing! (5/5)

Definitely listen

Why are the female characters idiots (4/5)

Very promising podcast and kept me mostly interested but the female characters are such gullible f&$)&! idiots that it lost me. Seriously. Get some female writers who can bravely write a female perspective within a male narrative if needed. Right now they are relegated to plot devices.

No Sophomore Slump (5/5)

Season two has been equally as exciting and well written as the first. Its always polished and sophisticated without feeling contrived.

Meh (3/5)

Could be good with high production value but the story and characters are still pretty much flat and uninteresting.

Exceptional Quality (5/5)

Thank the gods for professional writers and actors. I'm so tired of hearing wonderful podcasts (Tanis, Rabbits) ruined by terrible, repetitive dialogue and just aweful, stilted voice acting. The story is disturbing but compelling. Sorry that I only have three more episodes left.

Good story, a great listen, but... (4/5)

The story is good. The acting is superb. I highly recommend it. The reason for the three stars is the format. At the end of each episode the creators spend 5 to 8 minutes discussing themselves and their creative process. It severely detracts from the story; and almost completely dissolves the story remnants left in one's mind. Which is the joy of reading or listening or viewing anything - what it leaves you with at the end. Imagine if an author wrote a paragraph of their personal process at the end of each chapter, or a director ended each act of a film or play with a technical review of what you just saw. I always enjoy "behind the scenes" discussions but AFTER a story is complete. Homecoming should have made their commentaries as separate minisodes.

Season 1 was fantastic and hoping 2 improves quickly. (2/5)

Listened to the whole 1st season in one sitting. Season 2 is struggling so far and Episode 10 with Colin eating nachos in my ear is unlistenable. It's absolute torture. UPDATE after episode 11: season 2 completely jumped the shark. It's now a Ross Gellar comedy.

Obsessed (5/5)

My only complaint is that there are not enough episodes. Do yourself a favor & listen!!

Outstanding (5/5)

Fantastic story with superb acting!

So far so intriguing (5/5)

They have actual professional actors in this! Head over heels better than the poor voice acting on other podcast shows like TANIS. Love it! Edit: Catherine Keener is an incredible actor!!

Entertaining (5/5)

I really liked this podcast. It is a little slow in parts but the story is good and with all the additional voices and sound effects it goes beyond your typical audiobook in helping to build the story.

I am hooked! Absolutely love this podcast. (5/5)

Definitely an original and enticing radio drama. I eagerly await the new podcasts so I can listen to what happens next. It's also pretty cool that my hometown (Bakersfield, CA) is mentioned. Definitely recommend this podcast!

First Fiction Listen (5/5)

I have listened to a lot of podcasts, typically true crime or investigative ones, but this was the first fictional/scripted one I found and I am a huge fan. Will definitely be looking for other scrpited podcasts that can measure up!

Utterly Riveting (5/5)

There are so many things right about this podcast. Every episode I want to rush to other fans and talk about it and I've started campaigning to get others to listen just so I have someone to talk to about it. Listen!

Good first season, downhill from there (2/5)

I thoroughly enjoyed the first season of Homecoming. Good acting. Solid story. We're four episodes into the second season, however, and the plot is running in circles at a snail's pace. There isn't much momentum or mystery, just an uneventful manhunt. It also sounds as though Catherine Keener is really phoning in her voice acting this season.

Too slow (1/5)

Season 1 was great but now the last couple episodes especially #10 is so slow it is a waste of time. I feel they really ruined a good thing. If 11 doesn't pick up I am out!

riveting (5/5)

i am really enjoying listening. it quickens my pulse and i want to slap david schwimmer. Great!

Addicting (5/5)

Other reviewers have noted this, and they've pegged it right - this is a movie in your ears! Gimlet media has once again delivered an outstanding podcast experience, this time via a fictional drama series. They have secured some great Hollywood and silver screen names to "play" the characters in this captivating story that involves conspiracies, brain washing, testing morality, and the military. The story flows just as if you're watching a movie. It's absolutely amazing! I was hooked from the start. You will be, too!

Essential listening (5/5)

If you have a set of go to podcasts and this isn't on it, fix that.

good work folks (5/5)

This is the first audio drama I've heard with writing that approaches "literary." The high-caliber acting really shows, Keener destroys this role. Great work folks.

Suspenseful and jaw dropping! (5/5)

This is one of the best podcasts out there! My friend and I gather around my iPhone every time a new episode comes out! The story is riveting and suspenseful! Catherine Keener brings so much heart and soul to the character of Heidi, constantly tugging at my deepest sympathies. David Schwimmer is incredible as Colin Belfast, the clear bully and villain of the story. Always I'm on the edge of my seat wondering how far Colin will go, waiting to applaude Heidi's strength and resilience, and of course wondering how Audrey will clean this whole mess up... if ever. Amazing job to the the cast, writers, and producers on a fantastic ride!

The Best! (5/5)

I love this podcast, if you gave this show 1 star your obviously deaf

Great story telling (5/5)

Great voices and storytelling. A can't miss.

Completely absorbing storytelling! (5/5)

I love this fiction podcast. Completely absorbing and addictive storytelling with fantastic performances.

The best. (5/5)

Podcast I have ever listened to.

Best podcast since S-Town (5/5)

The acting is excellent, the storyline intriguing & addicting, & the delivery is original and on point in every single episode. I'm a fan. Now I'm going to start walter's books bc I can't get enough.

Original, engrossing, immersive (5/5)

Each week I find myself looking forward to each instalment of this surprisingly captivating tale, expertly brought to life by fantastic performances and vivid sound design. The vocal talent is top shelf as well, and the iBooks novella that accompanies season 2 is an intriguing counterpoint to the audio - you don't need to read it to enjoy the podcast but it adds an interesting extra layer to a key character who is mostly defined by his absence. The best way to summarise how much I enjoy this: while I listen to every other podcast at 1.5x speed, for this one I luxuriate in 1x speed, as I don't want it to finish to soon.

Fantastic (5/5)

Cast is amazing and story is binge worthy.

Love it (5/5)

Easy to follow. Easy to listen to. Perfect for work or a car ride!

Uncertain (3/5)

I'm still uncertain about this show, much like the show itself appears to be. The story is difficult to follow and the doesn't seem to be a cohesive plot. Much of the dialogue is overly sarcastic and verbally abusive phone conversations, which get old pretty quickly. "Ok, Lara? Lara! Are you listening? Listen Lara, I understand your IQ is only two numbers but pay attention, Lara."

Weak writing and character motivations/journies (2/5)

Great cast. The leads in particular do an awesome job. The writing as it ties to the story and character motivations leaves a lot to be desired. When confronted with new information from clearly suspect sources, characters are constantly turning their opinions on a dime. That just isn't how people work. Quit listening halfway through season two after one too many eye rolls. Season one was stronger, not sure what changed there.

Intriguing, but..... (2/5)

The storyline (and Catherine Keener's voice) are both awesome, but I cannot get past Ross screaming at her over whatever background noise from an airport, taxi, etc. Does this play an integral part in the story? I can't listen long enough to find out. It is an annoyance for people in real life to have a distracted, agitated, person on a busy street on the other end of the line - why do I want to hear this on a podcast?

Love every minute (5/5)

So good

Too cussed out (2/5)

First season was ok—strong sound design and rhythm between the three narratives. Then it degenerated into people yelling at each other over the phone. We're already saturated with this abusive language in the news. I turn to fiction as a break from it, and Homecoming isn't offering that break.

Only one thing wrong with this podcast (5/5)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this podcast!!! The only thing wrong with it is - I wish it were longer!!!

Brilliant! (5/5)

Love love love!!!

Rad, rad, rad (5/5)

I've never listened to a television show style podcast before due to my lukewarm feelings about most TV series. This has converted me. It immerses you entirely in the experience with astoundingly realistic scripting and acting. You're invested 5 minutes into the first episode. Applause for Homecoming.

Bad audio (3/5)

I really enjoyed season 1 and while I'm curious to see season 2 develop I'm constantly distracted by the interlude music. The music in season 1 was slow and calming but this weird drums and clanging in season 2 makes me want to stop listening. The volume balance is also really off. I have to turn my volume up for the conversations and then my eardrums always get blasted by the unexpected clanging interlude music. If homecoming does a 3rd season I really hope they'll put more thought into composition and sound balance during post production.

Yes! (5/5)

This is my favorite podcast, you guys. Absolutely brilliant! How can one podcast have so many of my favorite actors in it?? I've been telling everyone about it. I need more!

Excellent!! (5/5)

Listen now! You won't regret it!

Mid-episode commercial is a bummer (4/5)

Interrupting the episode to promote the companion novel really breaks the mood, man. Just so you know, Homecoming, I heard it the first time and now I mute it. Don't diminish the quality of your work by talking through it.

Great first season. Season 2 is a bit like the matrix 2. (4/5)

Season 1 was great. Season 2 is off to a rough start. Didn't try the mom's address first? The style of the show is turning into a cliche of intense phone conversations, and the plot is filling with holes. Season 1 was great, but it's already impossible for it to be as good as season 1. I mention the matrix sequels because where season 1 had an arc built around a big reveal. The sequels could never reuse that arc, and tried to survive on style alone. That's kind of what's going on, I feel, with season 2 of this show.

Not a podcast. Not even an audiobook. (1/5)

Like listening from the kitchen to a movie being played in the living room. But not that good. The height of dramatic intercourse is a bad phone connection. Supposedly an attempt at introducing a new way to listen to "radio drama". Nope. Doesn't work at all. The production is the main reason. 60%. The writing and story are 30% of the problem. And the acting can take the remaining 10% of the blame. Don't bother with this one. It's just bad.

I hate Colin (4/5)

Colin is awful and I hate him a lot and I get that that's part of the plot but it's so hard to listen to.

Love it!! (5/5)

Homecoming is one of my favorite podcasts. I love the music in between scenes this season! I wish I didn't have to wait a week for every new episode!!

Sucked in (5/5)

Love this podcast.super entertaining!

Second Season Nose Dive (1/5)

Most of the first season was great, but it dropped off towards the end. Unfortunately, the second season has embraced the weakest elements from season 1. The characters are completely static. The gender dynamics are a disaster. Really disappointing turn for a promising show.

Can't stop listening! (5/5)

Downloaded the first episode and then listened back to back through episode 9 in one night. Couldn't stop listening. Can't wait for the next episode!

Great, gripping story (5/5)

Homecoming feels real. It does not have the forced cliffhangers at the end f each episode to keep you interested. The character and story keep you waiting for the next episode.

So good (5/5)

Love the suspense. Such a good story. Like a movie

High quality (5/5)

Great voice acting. Great sound design. I forget that I'm not listening to a tv show. Really well made.

Best narrative podcast I've heard (5/5)

This is one of the best podcasts out there - great, cinematic storytelling, smart writing, beautiful acting by some great artists. This, like many of Gimlet Media's podcasts, is a gem.

Awesome, captivating (5/5)

Very great show, very captivating. Great acting

Good story (4/5)

This may be the best podcast I've ever heard in the "people shouting on telephones" genre

Grabs You (5/5)

From the moment I started season 1, I listened straight through. Compelling story, great voices. Wonderful.

Great way to kill time on a long road trip (5/5)

We binge listened to eight episodes and enjoyed every minute. Obviously iBooks missed the podcast train and is trying to catch up. Tried to read the companion chapters on iBooks but can't change the type size or download as audio so that's a maybe for later:)

Spectacular (5/5)

Great piece of fiction. It's very well done, intriguing story, great attention to detail on the sound and background.

Pretty solid (5/5)

Like this one a lot

Very engaging (5/5)

Love this show...great story with wonderful actors voicing it...

Best Dramatic Podcast (5/5)

The writing is excellent, as is the pacing of this 'movie in your ears.' It is something you didn't know you needed, and since it's from Gimlet, it's a top-notch "pod." I am geeked out on this show, and have subscribed to the companion iBook. Yes

Wow (4/5)

I believe I just fell in love with this podcast

Original and gripping. (5/5)

You'll be begging for more.

Suspenseful (4/5)

This is just the right amount of creepy. I look forward to the continuation of the story and always want the installments to be longer. I would totally binge if all episodes were available at once.

Enjoyed it (4/5)

I found this podcast to be really fun. I agree with some of the story issues, but I'm interested enough to keep listening. I can enjoy when a show has interesting characters. This is one of those shows that gives you more about the characters than mindlessly driving home the "genius" of the plot. Character development is king to me. I like listening to and learning the story as it's unfolding. I don't know what all the low reviews are for, but I'm back to listen to season two. And I'm excited for it!

Compelling, addictive (5/5)

Fabulous storytelling. Just start, you'll dig it.

Homecoming (2/5)

This is interesting, although they probably could just put it in one podcast. They repeat things, and most of the time they play irritating music. I think they think it is better then it is.

Excellent (5/5)

Great writing + great voice acting.

Love it (5/5)

Great story and great acting. Also, can I get the soundtrack? I love those drum kit cuts.

Engaging (5/5)

The story is engaging, the production and acting are top notch, one of the best series available.

i like this one (5/5)

the second season is really good(so was the first) but they added a musical element to the 2nd that I dont remember from the first. The music really adds to it.

Best scripted podcast (5/5)

Superb acting and writing

Peerless. (5/5)

You have to hear it to believe.

Amazing audio journey! (5/5)

Homecoming is a great story told in an unexpected way--on a podcast. The acting, soundscape, and writing all add up to a sweet escape from reality.

SO GOOD!! (5/5)

Great plot, script, storyline. So fun to listen to!

Interesting, not scared (4/5)

Into second season, and I still enjoy it. The only thing that drives me crazy is the obnoxious drumming between scenes. It takes me right out of the story, and I feel like I am at some cheesey high school play where they dim the lights between scenes and play music while all the techs noisily run around resetting the set. Is there anything not as jarring? Heidi is still befuddled about what is going on and Colin is a nasty piece of work. I will continue listening as I am invested. I like the slightly shorter episodes.

Feels real (5/5)

Great actors and compelling dialogue

... (5/5)

I love this podcast. It's so intriguing and I love that Catherine Keener and David Schwimmer are in it.

Good listen (5/5)

Interesting story and easy to listen to. Looking forward to Season Two.

Obsessed. (5/5)

Finally got around to listening and binged season 1 + beginning of season 2 in 24 hours. Hooked. Acting and storytelling are terrific and love the concept of companion book to season 2. Have devoured all.

everything will change after u hear this (5/5)

i was skeptical at first because a movie without visual seemed kinda crazy but this will change the way you listen to podcasts it will change the way you think about ptsd it will change the way you see the military and it will change absolutely everything it's one of the greatest series i've ever heard and i genuinely think that everyone should listen to it

Love this podcast! (5/5)

Everything about this is great. I only wish there were more. I was so excited to get the first episode of season 2 I was not disappointed when I heard it. Keep it going!!

Great New Find (5/5)

I just discovered this podcast and cannot stop listening. Riveting, suspenseful, beautifully acted. Subscribe at once! You won't regret it.

Not great (2/5)

It's mildly interesting but relies on hooks without much substance of story. Way better audio fiction out there without the need of "big" named voices.

Perfect for a long drive (5/5)

Listened to this on a road trip from San Diego to San Luis Obispo. The first episode really hooks you in, and the rest don't disappoint. The acting is incredible but you may get mad at certain personalities, a testament in my opinion to the good acting and storyline. Highly recommend! Can't wait for season 2!

Wow. Give me more! (5/5)

Such an engaging story with excellent production (as usual with Gimlet). I wish there were more fiction podcasts like this one with quality voice acting and sound design.

Love it! (5/5)

I am a huge fan of Catherine Keener after seeing her in "Get Out". I started listening to this podcast today and already binge listened to every single one. Can't wait to hear more!

Intriguing (5/5)

A very interesting story! I'm loving season 2! I highly recommend going and getting the novella that accompanies the season 2 audio.

The best!!!! (5/5)

I am so glad season 2 is here!!!!

Very well done. (5/5)

Not cheesy at all compared to other stores done on podcast

Poor podcast compared to the hype (1/5)

This audio drama is below the quality of lots of independent audio dramas. The story is stilted, and obvious. While no one can fault the sound quality or the acting it is frustrating to see this all over the front page of Apple's podcast section while other great shows are harder to find and promote. Do yourself a favor and go listen yo Bright Sessions, or anything by the Nightvale people, or Archive 81, or secrets lies and audio tapes (seriously the Serial Musical is hilarious and suspenseful) before being seduced into wasting hours on with this shiny but substance-less series

Good storytelling (5/5)

I usually don't like fictional podcasts, but this one has been a really fun ride. I love how it's been cast with well known actors - this may be why I like this fictional podcast versus others. That and the writing is suspensful and well done.

Season 2 off to an amazing start (5/5)

I love this show, and each character in it. Really interesting to see how they are executing everything, advancing the plot. Also, straight up entertaining.

Great podcast (5/5)

It's a great podcast with an even better cast. I hope this keeps on going! I'm eager to see where this will go

Excited for Season 2 (5/5)

An immersive experience you need to give time and attention to. Found the storyline compelling and super-excited to see the 2nd season come out. Am about to re-listen to season 1 to prep for season 2. The time jumps were confusing at first, then Once you understand what's going on they provide an exciting extra layer of complexity and storytelling. Well done!!

Instantly captures your imagination! (5/5)

Wonderful production

My favorite podcast. (5/5)

I listen to a lot of podcasts and this is my favorite.

Famous cast and top quality (5/5)

Star studded cast. Top notch quality production. Very intriguing story. Suspenseful. The only complaint is that the producers don't understand Podcast format. It's not a television series. YOu don't have six months between seasons. You'll lose your audience. I'm not going to listen to the first season in reruns as I wait for the second season.

I enjoyed! (5/5)

Excellent!!!

Loved it (5/5)

Suspenseful and entertaining

Five Stars!!! (5/5)

Love this scripted podcast. A level cast, excellent writing, and easy listening. You won't be disappointed!!!

Love the show (5/5)

I really liked the first season. Can't wait for Season 2!

Too much language (3/5)

I enjoyed the story. It was a great change of pace to listen to fiction through a podcast. But way, way too much language-particularly the f word. These guys are great actors-they can get the feeling across without all that language!

Came from Rabbits (5/5)

I listened to this after I listened to Rabbits and the acting is way better, I really enjoyed it. Totally recommend.

Amazing for road trips (5/5)

This podcast is addicting. It is so well produced and unlike anything I've listened to. It's perfect for road trips when you can marathon the episodes!

A must-listen (5/5)

Short digestible episodes that are captivating enough to binge in one sitting.

Phenomenal! (5/5)

Great story, well acted and expertly produced. Fantastic podcast!!!

YES!! (5/5)

Really great listen!

Nope (1/5)

It's just bad. The first 10 minutes gave me a straight anxiety attack.

Favorite podcast this year (5/5)

Easy to follow. Interesting subject matter. It's like a movie playing in your ears! I'd love to know about the behind the scenes set up for a podcast like this. Many seasons to come hopefully!!!

AMAZING (5/5)

This podcast is INCREDIBLE!!

Interestingly enjoyable (4/5)

It started slow and confusing but after episode 2 I was hooked. I truly enjoyed this experience.

captivating (5/5)

I was immediately sucked in

I binged it all in one day! (5/5)

I was hooked from the beginning by the big names attached to the project but it was the mystery and dialogue that kept me coming back for episode after episode. Season 2 can't come fast enough.

Amazing (5/5)

Absolutely loved this! Cannot wait for Season Two!

Road Trip? What Road Trip? (5/5)

This was so good. My wife and I don't even remember the drive home from a camping trip we were so fixated on this story. Better than tv and better than books on tape. Not better than actually reading of course but please don't drive and read lol.

SO GOOD! (5/5)

Don't miss this podcast. Different than anything else out there. I am a huge true crime addict and this still scratched that "what the HE** is going on" itch. Come on Season 2!!

So visual! (5/5)

This story is so visual, I kept forgetting it was just radio!!!

Pretty good (5/5)

I enjoyed this series and found it very engrossing. Looking forward to season 2.

Ignore the negative reviews (5/5)

This show caught my attention immediately. I didn't even realize it had big names til they started sounding familiar. One reviewer compared this to The Bright Sessions; not even! The bright sessions sucked. This show is very interesting and I think there is many more seasons to come. But please there needs to be either more episodes in a season or a shorter break between seasons cause I've been going nuts waiting for this second season. Great Work Gimlet!

Awesome (5/5)

Great podcast.

Creative and Addicting (5/5)

I'm kinda over the "I'm a podcast journalist"motif of the other podcasts I'm listening to. This is good. I love the acting. It's fast paced. It's relevant and it keeps you guessing.

Loved it (5/5)

Listened to all episodes in one day. Great writing, acting, voices.

Awesome (5/5)

I was surprised how much I liked this. Awesome show. Please do more!

Can't Stop Thinking About It (5/5)

I finished this podcast months ago and I still can't stop thinking about it.

So good! (5/5)

Storytelling, art, suspense at its finest

Enjoyable, good acting (5/5)

I enjoyed this WAY more than the other scripted/fiction podcasts I've listened to. It kind of ruined me though because the acting in others is just SO bad by comparison (I'm looking at you, Rabbits). I'm excited for another season!

??? (3/5)

I am confused by my feelings of this. I both loved this and despised it. Good story and execution, yet I was left wanting. I will give season 2 a try, but it's not on my top 10 list right now.

Please...More... (5/5)

A thriller for your ears. Production value amazing. Pleaseeeee make more.

Phenomenal (5/5)

This is where the future of podcasting is I believe, this is truly an immersive experience and a magnificent piece of storytelling. I highly recommend this podcast and cannot wait for season 2.

Best Audio Drama on the Market (5/5)

The title says it all. I don't want to ruin anything, but Homecoming's story is one wild ride you never want to get off of. Don't get me started on the quality of the editing and effects. It's hard to believe you're listening to a podcast not watching an addictive movie; it pulls you in and traps you. The actors are phenomenal too. Top notch all around. Literally can't wait for the second season.

Worth a binge (5/5)

I'm so happy I listed to this over two evenings. I didn't see the ending coming, which is unusual for me. I'm looking forward to the next season.

The Next Generation of Radio Serial Genre (5/5)

They are bringing back the radio drama in an updated most increedible style. Bravo to Everyone withThe Homecoming Initiative and of course Gimlet Media!

Amazing (5/5)

Highly recommend

amazing (5/5)

Loved this format! Can't wait to hear what's next.

Dissatisfied (3/5)

This storyline was slow and annoying. Heidi Bergman's voice is amazing! Schwimmer's character was soooo annoying. This whole season could have been done with only the sessions between her and Walter, and a bit of Schwimmer. Season 2 needs to pick up the pace plot wise and add more depth.

Truly a work of art (5/5)

This was the first audio drama I have fallen in love with. The suspense of Homecoming builds slowly. You almost forget there is something nefarious or mysterious among the experimental compound but the background noise and atmosphere the cast and writers create pull you right back in. It's amazing. Please listen and make another season.

New love for podcasts (5/5)

AMAZING. My hour to work commute was so short and I wish I could drive more just to listen to this show!

Awesome (5/5)

I was hooked right from the start.

Amazing (5/5)

I couldn't stop listening once I started. A really well done "found tapes" (?) podcast. Would listen again. :)

Well done (5/5)

I really enjoyed Homecoming. The story was interesting and the voice acting was outstanding.

Keep listening (5/5)

I'm seeing a lot of reviewers giving up after just one episode. My advice is keep on listening. The mystery that unfolds is engaging and chilling. I really enjoyed this podcast and I can't wait for season 2!

Intriguing show (5/5)

Very ingesting story line, enjoyed the listen

An amazing movie in podcast form (5/5)

This show just kept getting better every episode. I really look forward to the next season.

Binge Away! (5/5)

Homecoming will hook you right away, with peerless production values, superb voice acting, and an approach to storytelling that would make Christopher Nolan proud.

Excellent story (5/5)

This podcast kept me entertained through all 6 episodes. Can't wait for season two!

Enthralling (5/5)

OMG! Can't wait for season 2.

Great storyline (5/5)

Not only are the voice talents amazing, but the story takes you to some fascinating places.

Great Listen! (5/5)

This takes you on a ride, lots of turns some expected some not. Looking forward to next season.

I want more! (5/5)

Bring on season 2 please!

Where did you go (5/5)

I loved this podcast, but now it's gone??

Compelling and emotive (5/5)

Anyone not enjoying this is either pompous, jaded or dead! Very well done and not spelled out for you morons- omg you actually have to do a little thinking at the same time you are listening! Try it sometime!

GREAT! (5/5)

Love. Thanks.

The BEST delivery and sound design of any podcast. (5/5)

Meticulous and well acted. LOVED it❤️❤️❤️❤️ More please 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👌🏼

Can't wait for season two (5/5)

Loved it and can't wait for the rest of the story to unfold. Love Catherine Keener's voice.

Innovative fictional podcast (4/5)

Great sound work and acting.

A great story brilliantly performed (5/5)

This is one of those stories that has a beginning middle and end. It’s very well written and the performances are some of the best I’ve heard.

I Enjoyed It Very Much (5/5)

I can't wait for season two. Good acting and storytelling.

incredible (5/5)

Can't believe how gripping this story is for being so short. Reminds me of The Bright Sessions, but 100x more intense. A great representation of what audio dramas should be.

Wonderful (5/5)

I loved the first season and eagerly anticipated each episode. So looking for to see where this story takes us in season two!

Super good (5/5)

!!

So good! (5/5)

Can't wait for season 2!

Q (5/5)

Please give us season 2!

Wow (5/5)

Did not expect to be so entranced by podcast fiction, but this is a great story, gradually revealing layers into a "woah" climax. Superb.

More please! (5/5)

Can't wait for more episodes. Love the story, love the cast.

Not original, but still enjoyable (3/5)

The episodes and overall season are very brief and have a lot of potential. Like another user mentioned, the story is similar to The Bright Sessions, so it's not very original. It also reminded me of one episode of Black Mirror regarding manipulation of soldiers. Catherine Keener's voice acting is amazing and would do well in other podcast dramas.

best acting in podcasting, entrancing story (5/5)

Radio drama used to be a thing. I guess it stopped being a thing for a really long time. Maybe that's why, when fiction podcasts started to pop up, people didn't really understand that they would not be good if the voice acting was not good. All of that has changed in this podcast. Keener, Schwimmer, and every other voice actor on this podcast is so good at what they do that there is 100% suspension of disbelief. The writing is also excellent. However, I just want to stress that no matter how good the writing on a fiction podcast is, if the voice acting is not good, nothing else matters. Homecoming's voice acting is exquisite. I guess I already said that. The production values are also extremely high. moreover, the writers have taken advantage of their medium to use sound cues to the best possible advantage with in the plot of their brilliant and intriguing story. The post modern style of the storytelling makes it even better. The story is not told in a simple or linear fashion, and that is actually very important because it helps you understand the frame of mind of the characters. The story jumps around in time. this does not mean that it is difficult to follow! It just means that at certain points you are really wondering why is this character ending up in this place? Considering where the character began how did he or she wind up where we know he or she winds up? you become fascinated and you want to listen more to find out how a character who started out at point A ended up at point B. they really need to do a second season! But actually this season is it's own complete story. It's just that the characters and the plot promise are so fascinating that I want to return to this world and these characters and spend more time with them. also, this story is extremely timely, but not in a way where it will become obsolete soon. Without giving too much away, I can say that the story has to do with PTSD and soldiers who are returning from one of our many modern battlefields. If that sounds boring to you, just imagine all of the ways a story can go if it follows the adventures of people who are trying to delve into damaged minds. while the story has many science fiction components, ultimately you are hooked because the characters are people that you care about profoundly. They are fascinating people. even if you hate science fiction, you will love this story because the science fiction parts of it are not very far off from reality as we know it and from the things we are able to do today. In fact, I would be completely and surprised to learn that the science on which this podcast is based is in fact something that we can do today. The plot also resembles stories from the Vietnam War era, and the things that happened to soldiers when the US government became interested in using them, and their minds, for experiments. however, homecoming's story is unique! even having said everything I have said in this paragraph, I still have not given away any spoilers. there is a lot of plot packed into a relatively small number of episodes. as a final note, Keener's got a beautiful face and she is a wonderful actress on screens large and small… However, she has one of the most interesting voices in the history of women with scratchy whiskey voices! She is simply entrancing. You will not want to stop listening to her. it used to be a joke to say that someone had a face made for radio. It was a way of insulting their looks. Keener is too beautiful to say that about! However, she has a voice made for podcasting. And that, in my opinion, is a complement!

Kellynoon (5/5)

Wow! This was my first podcast drama and I'm Hooked!

Very compelling! (5/5)

This is one of the few fiction podcasts I have enjoyed. The voice acting is great, and the story is interesting and just mysterious enough to keep you engaged. Absolutely love it.

Come back! (5/5)

Anxiously awaiting. You guys, please don't leave us hanging like this... I almost missed my exit, I was so tuned in. Hurry back.

Fantastic! (5/5)

Like other reviewers said, it's like a movie in your ears. Great acting, great production and editing, and most of all, a compelling story. Starts to get a tad repetitive towards the end, but was always very engaging and seemed very natural. It's short and sweet and left me wanting more. Highly recommended if you want a quick, entertaining listen that you can get through in a couple days!

Not top of my list, but really good (4/5)

Acting and production are terrific, script is great.

More Please (5/5)

I absolutely loved this. I couldn't stop listening to it. Great job on all accounts.

Meh (2/5)

Very slow moving. Looking back at the first season not much happened. Instead of wondering what's going to happen you're wondering what's going on. Good production quality.

Pretty Intriguing (4/5)

I found this podcast kept my attention pretty well. The actors were very good and the storyline was interesting. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because I felt that at points the content could've been a bit more enticing. Regardless, I'm excited to see what season 2 has to offer!

Cinematic (5/5)

Love the characters, totally IN IT. Performances are amazing. Sunday afternoon, lay in the yard, listen in the sun ... for a day when you want to watch a movie but also want to take a nap, but also want to be outside and hear the birds.

Love it (5/5)

Great cast and story

A page-turner for the ears (5/5)

Top notch voice actors, tight script and creative editing/sound made Season 1 a delight for the ears and imagination. Thanks to all involved!

Superb (5/5)

When will season 2 come out?

Hooked! (5/5)

Amazing sound, gripping story line, interesting characters. I love it. I wish the episodes were longer

Season Two! (5/5)

Can't wait for your new season. Keep them coming!

love the format (4/5)

It's a suspense thriller that leaves you always with more questions than answers. What I love most is the audio details, making it more like watching a movie than listening to a podcast. A step up from true crime reporting podcasts for those who like that genre.

Slow Burn (3/5)

It's a compelling story telling style, and the acting is good. However, it's lacking that hook to really pull you in. It will be interesting to see how season 2 stacks up.

Draws you in (5/5)

The story is a gentle immersion in a fascination fiction. It is well told and acted. I also love the after-show, and the insight it gives into the process.

Slowly reels you in and hooks you! (5/5)

Subtly scary and the perfect mix of reality and sci-fi.

Fun escapism (5/5)

A complex-ish narrative structure with interesting characters and unpredictable moments. The production quality is A+, something that is important to me as a listener. That description sounds really boring. But the podcast is exciting, I promise!

Loved this podcast! (5/5)

Great little story! Compelling from the first episode, loved the way it turned out. So excited for season 2!

Amazing (5/5)

I loved every moment of this podcast. So excited to season 2

Fantastic! (5/5)

I heard about this podcast, and looked it up. WAIT! Catherine Keener is in it? I love her! I was sold. Upon listening, I found her surrounded by excellent writing, wonderful sounds, great voice actors. I would have listened even if she wasn't in it. Superb.

Best audio fiction (5/5)

This is by far the best audio fiction I've ever listened to. It feels like you're listening to everyday people, unlike most audio dramas which are so obviously scripted.

Couldn't stop listening (5/5)

Definitely check it out, you will not be disappointed! I looked forward to my commute all week so I could enjoy the next episode

Required listening for all (5/5)

Such a wonderful audio drama! All need to listen to this wonderfully written podcast!

Hooked after #1 (5/5)

Catherine Keener is perfection and can't wait for season 2!

10/10 Would listen again (5/5)

Very well produced. I was hooked right in.

Theatre of the Mind. (5/5)

I didn't need a visual when listening. Vivid as real life!

Really great (5/5)

Smart, creative, and kept me hooked

It's so good- when will there be Season 2? (5/5)

This is a great program. The story, writing, acting, sound design, and pacing are all right on target. I really enjoyed this, will certainly re-listen to it, and am really hoping to hear a second season! Keep up the good work, Gimlet!

Awesome! Thrilling (5/5)

Love this! I can't wait until season two! Suspenseful and intriguing. Love the storytelling

Phenomenal (5/5)

This is one of my favorite podcasts. I'm absolutely hooked and can't wait for season two.

Great show! Gripping! (5/5)

Was excellent and I can't wait for season two. Keep it up Gimlet!

Very entertaining! (5/5)

Always looked forward to the next episode and I'm ready for the next season. Suspenseful. High quality acting and sound. Very impressive.

Conspiracy, Crime, Compassion (5/5)

'Homecoming' is a movie without pictures, a page turner crime novel. The entire podcast is thrilling and leaves you wanting more. I had a strange sense of melancholy at the end but I'm glad it ended as it did. My only advice is, if you listen to podcasts to fall asleep to, this is not for that. It's too detailed, too many connections and it also brings in background ambient noises to help immerse you into the story.

Really fun ride (5/5)

Leaves you wanting to hear more after the season ends. Engaging storyline with a couple good twists to keep you guessing. Looking forward to season 2.

Loved it! More please! (5/5)

This was so engaging,I loved it from start to finish. Great writing and great acting.

Awesome (5/5)

Great show that utilizes storytelling, foley, great acting, etc. would recommend this to anyone who is interested in a psychological thriller

Outstanding (5/5)

Dramatic radio is here in the podcast age, and Gimlet is leading the way with productions like this.

Can't stop listening (5/5)

Binge worthy for sure!

Spectacular scripted podcast (5/5)

Best scripted podcast I've heard.

Excellent (4/5)

While this is confusing to listen to at first, this podcast is extremely entertaining and addicting. It sounds good and the stories are good.

A Little Long (3/5)

Voice acting was tops but the story took a while to develop and the payoff at the end was minimal. Will probably come back for season two if that happens but hope the get to the point a bit faster next time around.

Good to go (4/5)

I am 2 episodes in and am enjoying it so far. It's interesting and suspenseful. I listen to it on my walks and am looking forward to episode 3.

Great podcast (5/5)

Great podcast that I'm anxiously awaiting the next season!

Very Engaging (5/5)

Great acting! Interesting story line.

Fantastic (5/5)

I want more!

Easy to listen to (5/5)

Great listen. I put it on every time I'm doing laundry. Makes the task so much easier to deal with ;) Bummed I finished it so fast... off to find another.

Didn’t resonate with me. (2/5)

This was my first experiment with podcast fiction. I love the idea, but Homecoming just didn’t work for me. I, unfortunately, didnt find the story compelling. It’s well acted, just not very interesting.

So lovely (5/5)

I don't typically enjoy fiction, but adored this show and cannot wait for the next season. I highly recommend this podcast. It's beautifully done and perfectly timed.

Amazing (5/5)

I'm instantly addicted.

Great!! (5/5)

I found this podcast very interesting and enthralling - I don't know why so many people are complaining about it being boring. If you like conspiracies, this is on par with the X files. This first season was very much an intro, and I'm excited to see where they take it from here!

Please come back for season 2! (5/5)

This story is so great and constantly leaves you begging for more!! I hope they're coming back for a second season!!

Listen to this ASAP (5/5)

oscar isaac, that's all you need to know. this is a revelation i story telling.

How long until season 2???? (5/5)

I loved this podcast - the best thing I have listened to in awhile. My dog was so happy because we went on really long interrupted walks so that I could get a couple of episodes in...really great.

It's really good (5/5)

Check this out, friend.

Mesmerizing in every way! (5/5)

From the stellar voice acting to the easy dialogue that tells the story, this podcast is first rate. Can't wait to hear more. I appreciated that the season revealed just enough to keep me interested but not enough to satisfy me that the story is over. Hurry up, Eli!!

Exciting to hear some great storytelling (5/5)

Great show, well-produced, and a lot of fun to learn about the production during the "after-show" segments. Really looking forward to next season.

Excellent podcast... but... (5/5)

This show is really really great all around. From opening music, to performances, to storyline, it's all good. The only thing that made me crazy was the ending. Don't expect the show to end with a tidy bow. It seems it is planned to be multiple seasons, so nothing really gets resolved. Frustrating as the show is completely binge-worthy, but then... you should wait til next season. Sad!

Great, Super Compelling (5/5)

Fun podcast, full of mystery and suspense.

Hooked (5/5)

Truly thoughtful storytelling

Just binged the first season (5/5)

This was very well-acted and the sound mixing is excellent. An intriguing story; I wonder where it's going to go in Season Two?

Great listen! (5/5)

I was skeptical of this at first. It felt liek a gimic to get a TV show (and they did). But this was a great narrative podcast. It is an homage to old school radio stories and their eeriness but tells a really modern story. I can't believe how great of actors they got to do this! Great for a road trip. (Intriguing but not scary.)

Sets the standard for Podcast Entertainment (5/5)

Keener carries the whole thing. Schwimmer was convincing as her boss. The plot and the way it unfolded was worthy of a movie treatment. This should be a movie, but its a podcast. I hope this is going to lead to other production companies doing similarly excellent projects. No advertising, which is dismaying. Some sponsor messed up. I listened to all six at a sitting. There needs to be an industry award for this, and it isn't the Grammy.

Audio Drama at Its Best (5/5)

Well produced, well scripted, captivating story. It's well paced and the voice acting is top notch. I am on the edge waiting for the next season!

none (5/5)

Great podcast. So many podcasts are politically related, they all begin to be overwhelming. This is a good story and welcome relief.

Tbbalh (5/5)

Please come back!! Love this podcast!!!

So, so good! (5/5)

Not usually a fan of "radio" drama, as it's genereally cheesy, but this is of such high quality & production values I was immediately sucked in & now cannot wait for the next season.

Oscars all around. (5/5)

It's so good to listen to a story podcast with real actors. The dialogue is real rather than read - at least they have the ability to make it seem so. Schwimmer's best performance.

Catherine Keener! (5/5)

Catherine Keener and David Schwimmer are terrific. This is a great podcast/radio drama.

Keener and Isaac CHOP FEST (5/5)

So great to hear Catherine Keener and Oscar Isaac together. Two powerhouses at work. Chopping it up in all their scenes together like two heavyweights in the ring. BLAM! BOOM! POOOOW! so.......good. Give it a listen.

Homecoming (5/5)

First rate storytelling

Homecoming (5/5)

What a fantastic audio drama! Can't wait for the next season!

A Must Listen! (5/5)

How has this show not received more attention? I absolutely love it. Expertly written, cast, and put together. I can't wait for next season!!!

A great thriller (5/5)

Wasn't immediately hooked, but once I was I couldn't stop listening! The voices and production is amazing, and the storyline is mysterious and creepy.

Addicted! (5/5)

Great voice actors, sound design and story. One of my favorite podcasts!

Incredible Production (5/5)

The production value of this podcast and acting makes up for the sometimes lethargic storyline and tendency for the plot to be over-reliant on cliffhangers. Regardless, I'm hooked. More scripted podcasts from Gimlet, please!

LOVED this series. (5/5)

I could not wait for the episodes to come out. The story weaves together so beautifully.

Excellent podcast (5/5)

The story is so compelling, I ripped through the podcast in a day. The voice actors do a great job, and the sound editing is well done, too. I can't wait for the next season!

Gave it a shot (5/5)

Had pretty low expectations going in but I decided to give it a shot because I like gimlet. But it blew me away
