Aggregated reviews for Jimquisition

Audio home of The Jimquisition, featuring its lovely little podcast, Podquisition - starring Jim Sterling, Laura Kate, and Gavin Dunne!

Laura talks too much   (4/5)

Its called Jimquisition for a reason, so let jim talk more please.

Great fun   (5/5)

Always full of interesting topics and side discussions, a perfect podcast to listen to during long drives or cleaning days

Ooh, it’s political!   (5/5)

Listened to this podcast for years, the gang started to be more open about their leftist views and I love it even more!

Used to be Five Star   (3/5)

In the beginning the Podquisition was mostly about games with some breaks for discussion about Gavin’s music. It was cool. Jim aimed his usual snark at the usual characters in video game production. Laura was my favorite trans person in the whole world who rarely had a foul word for anyone or anything. And Gavin was mostly idle until it was exactly his time to speak. Some time ago politics began to creep into their conversations. It wasn’t subtle. But it was rare and brief, and mostly initiated by Jim. But it got progressively more frequent, vehement, and winding. Rather than listening every week, as I had since the beginning of the program, I became selective about it. If Jim started into a monologue about some political this or that at the start (it seems to mostly come right out of the gate with him) I would just skip the episode. By December 2019 I stopped previewing the start of the episodes. It was tiresome. I stopped listening. Took a couple months off. Have listened to each episode, at least in part, in March and April of 2020. It has not gotten better.

More than a feeling.   (5/5)

I already know if the games I like are perfect or just great. These goofers carry on all around the topic of games for a fun hour.

Politics, yes! Eat the rich and all that   (5/5)

I started watching and listening to Jim Sterling this year after his Sekiro video on difficulty was suggested to me by the algorithm. I found his style, playfulness and careful use of a figurative sledgehammer on subjects. Hearing politics during a video game podcast is refreshing. I tried listening to other game podcasts and most are superficial in that they just describe a game and their personal experience with it and that’s it. Most are bland, robotic and safe podcasts.

Uh...   (5/5)

Why did it take me three weeks on youtube to hear you have a podcast, man? You’re too humble. It’s kind of irritating, frankly.

Politically opinionated cheerleaders who play games   (1/5)

I watch every one of Jim’s YouTube videos and liked Laura’s appearances on TBs podcasts and her work with adult game reviews, so it’s not like I don’t like these folks and their work. But listening to a single political viewpoint with no discourse, just jokes and hyperbole, is frankly not interesting. I’d love to hear these folks speak with people who have a discerning opinion. As it stands, this is like listening to the opposite viewpoint of Fox and Friends, which I also don’t enjoy. I’m not saying less politics and I’m not saying stick to games, I’m saying it’s boring with no one to challenge the populist opinion. Oh I mean, isn’t Boris Johnson FAT? He must have eaten a Brexit. So funny. I’m so glad there’s no nuance or descending opinions.

Long time listener, son!   (5/5)

So long Gaven. We’ll miss you, and can’t wait til you guest here!

Super chill and funny!   (5/5)

Been listening for years - love the banter between these guys and I always find myself looking forward to the next episode!

Essential for any gamer, parent, or industry opera   (5/5)

Anybody interested in the game industry as a player, parent, or developer, NEEDS to listen to the issues and topics brought up here.

Great podcast!   (5/5)

A really fun time!

Luara...   (1/5)

I can't take any more Luara...

Pretty Good   (5/5)

Podcast is quality, but if you want a real laugh read all the contradictory reviews.

Bipolar, like me 🙂   (4/5)

5 stars for Jim and Conrad’s Spin-off Doctors, 3.5 stars for the main podcast. Laura is cool, but more like someone’s cool mom (Pokémon Go, anyone?) than someone who is suited to be the pillar of a vg news podcast, which she ends up being most of the time. When Jim doesn’t have a singular topic to focus on (like a movie review or a Jimquisition) things get a little muddled. I subscribe to Jim’s YouTube, but Spin-off Doctors is what keeps me subbed (and listening to—I don’t skip podquisition) to this. Maybe try to change things up a bit, I don’t know. I’m just a nobody.

A Tedious Grind   (1/5)

This used to be entertaining when they talked about things like video games. Now, it’s a tedious grind to get through their poorly-reasoned positions about everything in the world besides games. This might still be bearable if Sterling weren’t such a deeply repulsive character. He pretends not to understand opposing arguments and deliberately mischaracterizes them with a sneer. His dishonesty and his venomous nature make me rethink any positions I hold when I hear them emerge from his oleaginous mouth. The other two hosts seem like OK people.

Less Freaky Constantina   (5/5)

So, is Boston’s Favorite Son going to be in this feed? Like Movie Bois? Or is it supposed to be on its own? Can’t find it anywhere...

The True Triforce   (5/5)

Effervescent, tingly, and sticky if it gets on your hands —this podcast is the sweet soda that you need to spill on your pants.

Thank God for Jim!   (5/5)

Good podcast. Great titles!

Have they ever even met?   (5/5)

Been listening since day 1 and from what I can gather these three have never even met. Love that!

Thank GOD for Jim.   (5/5)

All praise to Jim.....and Conrad. The Movie Boys brings many, many smiles. Keep up the good fight, Jim. Thanks for all the hard work. “Fistshark” gets many kudos as well.

Sassy fu#%s   (5/5)

Love you guys! Keep it up!

Love it!I   (5/5)

It's my favorite podcast ever!

I like it   (5/5)

Not only is this a fantastic gaming podcast, you also get a subscription to movie boys!

MOVIE BOYS   (5/5)

I love the movie boys. They are my favorite movie boys.

I love them.   (5/5)

Laura, Jim and Gav are like the friends I've always wanted. By listening to this podcast, I finally understand the industry that my brother works in. Thanks!

Made me break out laughing at work   (5/5)

This podcast is 10% Video Games, 30% Goofs, 60% Random Sh#%t both figural and literally

Don't change. You guys are awesome.   (5/5)

I love listening to you guys chat. The group has a great dynamic. On a personal note, you guys cheer me up. Your banter is great. It feels like I'm hanging out with my friends!! Don't change! -Jen

Love the podcast   (5/5)

They all make me laugh. They get loud sometimes to the point of it hurts my ears but I'm just quick to lower the volume

I can. You can't.   (2/5)

Oh, you don't want hear our opinion about refugees, Jim? No? But we're forced to sit through your Leftist monologue? Shut up. Welcome to The Podquisition where I, Jim Sterling, will let you know how I feel about our 45th President in a manner that could only be applaud by 5th graders. Stick to games, Jim. Your snarky, political remarks are not funny in the slightest. You clearly know NOTHING about politics outside of popular media "current" event. This podcast would get 5 stars if it was the Gavin Show.

Group of Friends   (5/5)

Honestly they jump around a lot when it comes to topics, they aren't very strict when it comes to talking solely about games. But, they have a great time just having a conversation and I love listening to them while I'm commuting. Long time sub for all three.

Easy listening video game talk   (5/5)

Love the calm, eloquent dynamic of Jim, Lara and Gavin. And Spin-Off Doctors has become one of my favorite sources for movie reviews and commentary. I love Jim Sterling. Thank God for Jim Sterling. Give my twitch a shoutout jim amiright

5 Star Podcast   (5/5)

Jim, Laura, Gav and now Ian are 5 star golden gods who drive finisher cars.

Can be funny   (3/5)

Not a good podcast for video game news, and the cast are only occasionally entertaining in any respect.

Thank God, for this podcast   (5/5)

The chemistry between Jim, Laura, and Gavin is stupendous. Jim is one of the great (if not greatest) gaming personalities in today's industry and his love for cheesy c grade movies pulls on my heart strings. Laura is a proficient journalists in gaming and she's a big fan of Steven Universe. (She has a podcast dedicated to SU called Crystal ClodCast) Gavin is the more musical of the two.... He is the final piece that syncs the trio in a harmonizing whimsical manner. Making this the only podcast you need.

Must listen   (5/5)

Honestly thank god for Jim Sterling, great podcast for gaming fans!

Technically Flawed, Totally Hilarious   (3/5)

Laura tries her best to keep the train from going off the rails, which the show frequently does. Lots of wild tangents, interrupting each other, and Jim is admittedly unprepared for the show until right before it's time to record. Laura does a lot, if not all, of the behind the scenes stuff and if she's not able to do it, Jim almost always botches it. With all it's flaws, it's still one of my favorite. Somehow it works. It's funny and incredibly entertaining, but technically flawed

A beautiful mess   (5/5)

You're a motley group who rarely agree, stray onto silly tangents, and I love listening to you every week.

Hey,   (5/5)

That's pretty good

Honestly a good podcast   (1/5)

Got sick of kinda funny being so average and uninspired so started looking for new shows. SJW stuff like neogaf hate speech is here which means hate America but the positive pedo of SJW neogaf and this talk is really confusing to me. Can anyone in gaming journalism cool it with bigoted political stuff. This podcast is better than the very good YouTube stuff games wise and these people are funny, the one star is simply bc it is stunning for how smart they sound about games (sans dynasty warrior love) when they talk politics and get gleeful over SJW stuff it is all hyperbole. I.e. Will there be a next year? Does anyone know how much interest on 20 trillion a year or do SJW only care about hurt feelings over losing an election? would be nice if there were measured takes like on their games coverage and avoid such a hard left turn to blue haired Muslim only denominational looney tune land

Depths of Depravity   (5/5)

My virgin ears cannot be cleaned.

Good stuff!   (5/5)

I enjoy listening to this podcast! These guys always make me laugh, the humour is raunchy, and they still manage to carry out some actual information despite the tomfoolery and banter. It's a good listen for anyone who doesn't mind a lot of cursing, and already enjoys Jim Sterling's Jimquisition series on YouTube.

Came for Jim, stayed for Gav and Laura   (5/5)

What an awesome podcast! Great chemistry and a lot of fun, even when they decide to talk about video games. Thanks for the great show! Also, the Spin-Off Doctors is a lot of fun too. They made me watch Pixels, but then Postal, so I guess I'll forgive them. Keep up the good work, and thanks for all the free funny!

obnoxious   (2/5)

avoid the Spin-Off Doctors. Jim is obnoxious & he thinks its funny to assault your eardrums with a soundboard or his own squawking.

I like it!   (5/5)

Obviously not for everyone, but provides a level of fun and humor to the podcast that I find very entertaining and enjoyable.

Jim and Gavin...   (3/5)

I know Jim doesn't care obviously, and I know I'm not the only one, but If Laura wasant on this podcast I'd be sub for a long time. I pick thru episodes to find when she's not on because her voice is like nails on chalkboard and she's obnoxious. Swap her out and this podcast would be much more popular thanks!

Perfect way to casually keep up with video game news   (5/5)

I usually listen to these on the car ride home, and recommend most people do the same. It probably won't keep you on the edge of your seat, but it's perfect for keeping up with all the recent video game news while being entertained by a somewhat odd, but likeable group of folks.

Favorite Podcast   (5/5)

This is my favorite podcast. I've listened to Jim since He was on Destructoid's podcast. He knows how to host an entertaining podcast. Highly recommended.

Highly entertaining!   (5/5)

These voices fill my ear holes nearly every moment I'm at work and I absolutely f*cking love it.

Yes, have some.   (5/5)

Beyond having Jim, Gav, & Laura being awesome, I can’t help but admit I want to have a cross-over w/ God Awful Movies. Also Jim & Eli Bosnik shirtless wrestling fanfics. *we all have our own priorities. GG team. GG. You guys make the podcast-scape a better place.

2/29/16 - 1 stars   (1/5)

I have large amounts of respect for what Jim and crew and all that they do but the latest episode was over the top with the negativity. Even went to the point were I had to stop listening. Glad to hear a new voice in the form of a guest, who seem to take up the mantle of the voice of reason. I unsubscribe but I do plan on returning after a few weeks to see if it's just been an off few episodes for them.

The dripping sounds are distracting   (5/5)

Just all the time in the background, what is that? Do you hear it? Like the slow drip of starchy water from the end of a linguine noodle spilling out of an overturned pan lying on the dirty, sauce- (or is it blood) stained countertop.

Good old Jim.   (5/5)

I've followed Jim since his podcastle days - and I still love him. Keep it up!

Love it love it LOVE IT   (5/5)

The Podquisition is easily the highlight of my Thursday. The chemistry between Jim, Laura and Gavin is so engaging I could care less whether they actually talk about video games. Which is not to say they don't; indeed they often bring fresh perspectives I haven't heard elsewhere. If you already enjoy the Jimquisition, or Miracle of Sound, or Laura K Buzz, you'll love this podcast. If you've never heard any of their other work, give this a try anyway.

Ughh   (1/5)

Lost my sub in the first episode. Lib values are getting gag worthy.

Jim Sterling and gang can do no wrong!   (5/5)

Check out this podcast for gaming, bollocks, and Chungus.

Decent   (4/5)

Jim and Laura are great but Gaves humor is so droll and monotone it makes me want to turn off the cast ever time he tells a joke

Jim does it again   (5/5)

After following Jim for sometime now, since the escapist, I have grown very found of his work. This show started surprising me with Laura Kay and Gavin. My nights working the graveyard shift are now looked forward to instead despised.

Glorious!!!   (5/5)

This podcast is truly great! they have the perfect balance of the news and entertainment. also the side podcast the "spinoff doctors" is my absolute favorite!!

For the Pure Gaming Joy!   (5/5)

If you wnat to hear a PodCast taht is nothing but pure gaming news, look lesewhere. If you want nothing but teh facts, ma'am, look elsewhere. but if you wnat sharp opinion and criticism with a group of what are clearly dear friends who are steeped heavily in gaming and review culture, who understand teh industry, and who have a penchant for fun, filth, mockery, and mayhem -- that's the Jimquisition Podcast. Jim Sterling is able to moderate his one-air personality with the really great synergy of two equally excellent contributors, and Laura and Gavin add their truly own flavor to teh mix. these are teh conversations you have with other gaming nerds, or at least would have if you also had the combined years of industry exposure these folks have. I love Gavin as a music content creator and balance to both Laura and Jim's game jounralism background. This is a weekly staple and you should not miss it.

At least there's passion   (3/5)

The biggest criticism I can say is that they get incredibly passionate (in a negative way) about what is ultimately simple entertainment

New and proud   (5/5)

I am literally brand new to the jimquisition in both video and podcast form. Though I have only listened to the anniversary episode they just posted, I can already tell these three friends are going to make a valued addition to my list of podcasts.

A chain of content   (5/5)

I started with Totalbiscuit which lead me to Jim which lead me Laura which lead me to Gavin. This has been a breadcrumb trail to a candy house of awesome context. #PhuckKonami

Hit or Miss   (3/5)

First off there are some good moments, but not as many lately, instead…lots of digression and self indulgence regarding the fact that they have a podcast that is successful, that they now do this for a living and no longer have day jobs (we get it), and that they don’t care what you think unless you’re polite…or something like that. Anyhow…it used to be about games…that being said Jim’s writing and Jimquisition videos are still on topic (games/gaming industry), relevant, humorous, and concise. Meandering is fine as long as it’s entertaining and not self indulgent, but this one has lost focus…hopefully it will realize this and not be too sensitive (which would be ironic indeed!). Good luck.

5 Stars   (5/5)

I like this podcast enough to rate and review it on iTunes, even though I don't use iTunes. That's how much I like it.

There he is!!   (5/5)

Holy crap Jim! I live a busy life and cant always keep up with my favorite personalities, but to finally have a podcast with you (and t'others!) back in my life makes my long days so much more enjoyable. Excellent show! Cheers!

All Hail JIM LAURA & GAVIN   (5/5)

Thank God for them!

My favorite gaming podcast   (5/5)

Jim, Laura, and Gavin have a wonderful dynamic and any fan of British humor and video games should give them a try.

Listen to this   (5/5)

This podcast is full of pizza and piss. Subscribe immediately.

LordRuss1525   (5/5)

This has become one of my most looked forward too, podcast. Very funny, but still up to date with the gaming news. I also like the food and drink reviews. Give a listen, crack a smile, and eat some prwan flavored chips( an English thing).

So much joy in so much filth!   (5/5)

I love this podcast so much! I didn't know I needed a podcast where games like 30 Seconds To Fap were given the same level of attention as AAA releases. Jim, Laura, and Gav know this and the world is a better, brighter, and happier place for it.

Hilarious Trio!   (5/5)

Jim, Laura, and Gavin have great chemistry. I love hearing these folks gab about video games, butts, and everything in between video game butts.

Podtoid 2.0 maybe?   (4/5)

I liked Jim and friends on the old podtoid podcast. Like when it was still Anthony and Topher. I feel a good cast balances Jim out.

Awesome podcast   (5/5)

Honestly the funniest gaming people I've heard in a while. It's good to know they're also informative as well. Three awesome people who are better together.

Great YouTube Videos, Bad Podcast   (2/5)

I like Jim Sterling, I like his Jimquisition videos, but after listening to his podcast for a few months I just don't care for it.

I can't hear it   (1/5)

It doesn't let me download the podcast. When this is fixed I'll change my rating.

Laura Kate   (5/5)

I really don't want to be rude , but can you please add someone new to the podcast . Laura seems lovely but runs me the wrong way. Really love you jim but .. You obviously don't have to listen

Great podcast   (5/5)

Love it

amigogeddon   (4/5)

Love jim, but the amount of amigo disscusion, is alarming

Please read!   (5/5)

Ever since Dismal Jesters died I've been afflicted with severe withdrawals. I've been surviving by sending lewd tweets to Jonathan Holmes and repeatedly saying 'Chungus' in a guttural tone in a dark room while in the fetal position. So far this podcast has been great and it will continue to be great as long as there is the proper ratio of William Dafoe references/ jokes and explicit language.

Getting better weekly   (3/5)

There is a cancer in my ear and this podcast is the dose of chemotherapy I need. But like any..... 12/14/14 Okay I like this podcast but it is still new for me to fully rate. Today i will tell you how I feel so far with only 3 episodes. Pleased... But very reminiscent of how I communicate with my friends and this can be hard to enjoy. The format of other podcast seem to be very stiff but they also have a comfort of this is just radio. Here we have honesty and a lot of trash in a mess of a format but also I like this a lot. It's not like the others and this could not be a better thing.

Iconic Mystery Podcast   (5/5)

Will they ever explain what amiibos are? I tune in every week to find out. It's also pretty funny.

Better than Co-optional podcast   (5/5)

Now in terms of fun and news discussion in excellent comedic fashion (and informative in the same time) it's only been 3 episodes and I am in love with the podcast. Highly recommend if you are a gamer

Awesome!   (5/5)

I have been following the Jimquisition forever on escapist, and now YouTube. His podcast is equally as entertaining! The personalities are great, the subjects are funny. Thanks, Jim!

Copyright this   (5/5)

Love the show but you guys appear to be unaware of the new flavor of Mountain Dew that is sweeping the nation dewetoes a Mountain Dew test product combing Mountain Dew and Doritos. This is clearly copyright infringement.

Sterling's the best! Give him a squeeze!   (5/5)

Best podcast!

Thank god for podcast   (5/5)

Fan of dismal jesters (RIP), fan of Fishshark Marketing and even listened to a bit of Podtoid back in the day. Podquisition is a little less silly but still an enjoyable listen, the sultry voice of Jim Sterling AKA "British Banshee" is on point as always.

Chungus be with you.   (5/5)

10/10, would Jim again.

Good Stuff.   (5/5)

Thank God for Jim. Looking forward to future episodes, really enjoyed the first.

Firstsies.   (5/5)

First review!! Been following Jim's stuff for years and will instantly subscribe to everything he does. @fakeBRADJAHN
