I've been listening to SWNCBC since around the Solo times. I was fans of Jesse, Alex, and Davis beforehand, so I was quickly engrossed in hearing about all the goings-on in the new canon that I'd never looked into myself. The podcast even got me to watch some of the later episodes of The Clone Wars because the way they talked about them made me too interested to ignore. SWNCBC also serves me as an intriguing window into the history of the expanded universe in general, as someone who never really got into it in the golden age, either. It's a perspective that lets me view new products in a different light than I had before. Their theories about where Episode IX would go were especially fascinating. It's just unfortunate that the result wasn't really on the same page. It's also a bit sad that I end up agreeing with Davis's cynical outlook whenever arguments come up, since the other two aways seem to disagree strongly. (P. S: All hail Overlord DVD)
I get it, TROS was a let down in many ways, but these guys have gone off the rails. This podcast used to be about fans deep diving into new Star Wars books and comics and stuff, but now it’s become 30-something white dudes letting content not designed for them ruin content that is. They’re actually against the concept of New Canon now. Depressing negativity, not fun anymore.
Good content, but they are incredibly negative. Sometimes I doubt if they even like Star Wars.
In A Podcast That I’ve listened to since the beginning. They make me smile and laugh and give me great shows/movies/stories and reviews. Love y’all
It is really good and talks about Star Wars
Why is it assumed that is the actual Darksabre in Mandalorian? In Rogue One on Scarrif the Empire also had plans for the Darksabre
My favorite Star Wars podcast, especially after Disney takeover of canon. Hope the guys do some episodes over some of the Legends stuff. That’d be interesting to hear their perspectives. Good listen regardless!
I don’t agree with most of what the say, but their points are objective and well stated. Not to mention VERY FUNNY
Informative but hilarious.
This is one of my favorite podcast too listen to. I have been watching Jesse’s videos since I was I was a teenager (25 now) and is one of my favorite content creators. I love Davis and his epic rages, Alex’s insightful views on Star Wars and e writing of many of the books and comics, and jesses comedy and commentary on the lore of Star Wars. A lot of fun to listen too!
Man I was waiting for this one, mainly cause now everybody that loved the last Jedi know sounds like everyone who hated the last Jedi. When the complaints came in on Lando all I could do roll my eyes cause it sounded like me being upset about Luke.
Hard to find a Star Wars podcast where the hosts are both this hilarious and knowledgeable, I just wish they’d post more. Also I would love an OT and or Prequels review episode(s), I think it would be cool just to hear their thoughts on those movies apart from the new stuff.
Eminently listenable personable and authentic. Not too positive not too negative. Just right and really funny. The boys do a great job.
My favorite podcast for Starwars, I love their plot descriptions... Also 2nd episode they literally guess part of the plot of rouge one (Vader) and last Jedi (kylo)
Another great Jesse Cox podcast. Release on Spotify please
Good to listen to kill time while at work. Their knowledge of startrek is top noch.
As a youngster, I was not a big fan of Star Wars. I just thought it was movie series and that was it. I had no idea that there’s were books involved and that they were cannon. Thank you guys for opening my fandom to new possibilities. 💕
This is an incredible podcast if your wanting to keep up with the new canon for Star Wars. Only problem is they are not very consistent on their releases.
We each type of Star Wars fan represented, this podcast is always a fun listen whether they are talking about books/comics or movies/tv. They’re funny and informative. Only wish they posted more frequently. They say they will but they don’t. Other than that they have plenty of material to listen to for a good while.
I am late in discovering them, look forward to more from them
I love these guys, I just wish they would do more episodes regularly.
They do a great job talking about the new books, comics and animated series but they constantly misinform listeners by referring to legends as “old canon” it was never canon and referring to it as such helps full that whole “not my Star Wars” mindset. A missed opportunity on the other hand is discussing the books for the movies. They generally mention them but I think it would have a huge impact on how they viewed them especially TLJ.
You want Star Wars talk? They got it. And it’s good. Am I doing this right?
These guys are awesome. I stumbled upon this podcast and realized that Davis was on the podcast which was a super shock! But their content is awesome
Love these guys and glad they're back. Literally I get excited when they drop a podcast. Im hoping for another debate on kaf. And go back and do Battlefront I. Its the best of the new canon.
Ok I normally really enjoy these guys, but I couldn’t find any other way of contacting them so leaving a review for this is my only way of giving them this feedback for their latest episode: “this was written by Matt Fraction and his wife” AND HIS WIFE??? THAT IS KELLY SUE DECONNICK MOTHERF*****S AND SAY HER NAME. Seriously, she’s one of the biggest names in modern comics, ESPECIALLY after the Captain Marvel and Aquaman movie releases. Y’all usually don’t have the same sexist micro aggressions that I find rampant in a lot of male lead SW podcasts, but COME ON. I expected better.
...from a certain point of view
Guys, please keep this going. The long dry spell (the dark times) was painful, I just need some more of the snack pack attack stack.
I love this podcast. It’s funny, worth while and other good stuff. Plus they know about Star Wars. It’s amazing hearing about a bunch of Star Wars Nerds, worth downloading a ton of episodes and it’s funny hearing all four of them making Jokes about Star Wars during the Reviews.
This is easily the best Star Wars podcast. I have listened to all of the episodes multiple times. Their reviews of the movies are awesome! I was happy when a new episode appeared on my phone after nearly a year without new content.
Love the SWNCBK! The best mix of half insightful and half totally wrong about Star Wars and hilarious while being both! 3/4 of the Scary Game Squad and retain the same sense of good goods and theory crafting
This podcast never fails to put a smile one my face, it’s fun cast and genuine nerdy insights are the highlight of my day As someone with barely any friends who are also fans of starwars , this podcast makes me feel comfortable with loving the universe of starwars. Thank you my perfect boys and I wish you the best
Best podcast for a lot of pov
Just updating my review to say how happy I am that you guys are back! I immediately downloaded every episode upon finding this podcast. I love the idea of a “book club” that covers the new canon. Although I don’t quite understand their reading order or why they skipped some titles, I’ve been thoroughly entertained each episode. While they’re above average on their Star Wars knowledge, even the casual fan can keep up with their references. It’s a nice guide to the galaxy for beginners to book canon. I only wish they’d update quicker as I wait for their latest commentary. Keep up the great work, boys.
I just had to listen to Alex and Jesse try to defend Solo and TLJ by blaming the alt-right for its bad critical reception. No. No no no no no. No more, I’m done with this show. Sorry I insulted your favorite multi trillion dollar conglomerate. Guess I’m not a “real fan.” Christ’s sake...
I thought this podcast was over and I was disappointed. This is my favorite SW podcast by far. Keep it up!!
Five stars based on their energizing attitude about diving back in. They could have said the pause was too long and it would be awkward to start the podcast back up, but they jumped right back in and and said in Alex’s Han voice, “we’re home.”
Over the past two years this podcast has been my favorite. I don’t have the time to read every new Star Wars book so having these guys break it down for me has been a great way to keep up with it. They celebrate the good, point out the meh, and criticize the bad.
I am so glad to see them back at the podcast! I love their wit and humor and discussion on Star Wars! Looking forward to more in the future!
These guys actually liked The Last Jedi. ‘Nuff said.
I tried listening to two episodes to make sure I wasn’t just being biased but you guys are everywhere with your overview and comments. It was hard to understand where you were going and I just wanted to hear the book review. As an avid Star Wars reader of legends an cannon I was hoping to gain some more insight on these books, but I just can’t keep up with the line of opinions over the book reviews themselves..
Been along time sense the last episode.
Alright here's my problem with this podcast. It's like very good and like it's informative but like they seem to like say "like", like a lot. It starts to like get on your nerves and like although I like, like them and all but if you don't mind like all these likes then by all means like listen.
I really dislike how they absolutely hate anything that references anything that happened before the Original Trilogy, despite how it may actually be. I wish they would be able to put aside their bad memories of the prequels, and come to terms that the Clone Wars was an important era of history in the Star Wars universe, and therefore deserves to be touched on occasionally. Also, for what I have listened to, there have been terrible audio issues that make me unable to hear one person (I don’t know if it rotates, but in the episode I am listening to, it’s Alex).
I work nights at a grocery store and without even reading the books i listen to this to hear the amazing comedy and the synopsis of the books great podcast, thanks for making it.
Was a fan, then you lost me.
If you’re like me, you watched the movies, kinda know a little about the lore, and played the video games.. but you don’t really follow everything else and don’t have the time to read or watch everything in between. Star Wars New Canon Book Club helped me catch up with everything I missed and the hosts, Alex, Davis, and Jesse make it fun and entertaining. I first discovered this podcast when I was in the process of moving out on my own which meant a lot of quiet nights unpacking. I downloaded a few episodes and I subscribed immediately after. I think I’ve listened to their Last Jedi review 4-5 times already, and every time Davis goes on his ranting rampage a little over 20 minutes into podcast; I laugh harder than I have in ages. Highly recommended, go check em out.
Alex, Davis, and Jesse are a match made in Star Wars Heaven. If you’re at all interested in the New Canon, I highly recommend giving this a listen.
Ive always wanted to understand Star Wars Lore and the Star Wars New Canon Book Club delivered that. I got into them when I wanted to learn about The Last Jedi and they always give multiple perspectives on what they review. Jesse, Alex, and Davis are not only informative but you are guaranteed to laugh at some point. I never feel like they fanboy over the material and always give a fair review.
Great as always. One of my favorite discussions. Laughed out loud the whole time. I f'n love you guys. Keep it up
I listened to their episode of The Last Jedi, and then have spent the past 3 weeks bringing through all the rest of the episodes! It’s a great way to get caught up on everything that has been happening in the EU. And I love going back to their theory episodes now that we have seen the movies and actually know more!
I couldn’t handle more than 30 minutes listening to these angry nerds shouting over each other. I’ve enjoyed occasional episodes in the past. But their Last Jedi review was beyond unlistenable. Negative criticism is fine, but these children went overboard with the hysteric shouting. Why listen to a Star Wars show where the hosts don’t even love Star Wars? Find a better source of discussion of the New Canon material from folks who actually appreciate the material.
Let’s face it. While professional podcast can be good or bad in content, fanboy podcasts, even if good in content, still sound like fanboy podcasts. That’s what this one is like. But once you get over the fanboy quality of it, you can appreciate that it’s really good.
Great podcast , been listening for 2 years and look forward to each new episode . Hope to one day be able to tell which voices belong to Alex and Davis
Okay I have been sick the last few days and listening to you guys talk about Star Wars has helped immensely, I want you guys to just keep it up man you are doing great.
Thoughtful insight from fans who really want the best for Star Wars.
I am so happy I started listening to this. I love reading the new cannon books and then listening to the guys dive into it. Well done.
Jesse, Alex, and the Australian Michael Davis do a fantastic job of breaking down the various new canon that is released. It’s the perfect blend of theory crafting and critiquing. Thanks for the podcast and please keep them coming!
I love this podcast. The guys are hilarious and so in sync with my love of Star Wars! I love hearing them agree with my theories or have new ones I can obsess over. I suffered through Clone Wars because of them, so I’m glad they suffered too, but I’m still glad I did. The only sad thing is I wish there were more podcasts. I’m listening to them over and over because there aren’t enough new ones! Podcast more guys! 😍😍😘😘
This podcast is amazing. I’ve listened to everything they’ve made at least twice. I’m going through for a third time while I work. It shows that these three guys are great friends. They also love what they are talking about too. The only thing I could said bad about it is that it’s a while between episodes. Which is understandable when they all have other things that take priority.
Hosted by three of the most charismatic guys ever, SWNCBC is phenomenal podcast. It's definitely worth listening along to if you're a star wars nerd like me!
Entertaining fun insight into the new canon.
I have seen all the Star Wars movies. But I don’t watch clone wars or read the books, but listening these fine gentlemen talk about something they love with passion and a critical eye is very entertaining. Much love.
Keep up the great work. I thoroughly enjoy your book synopsis'
I'm not a big Star Wars fan; I don't hate SW, but I never really got big into the EU or felt too excited about the new canon. This podcast really gets me into the new canon, while also being grounded in reality. Though these three guys do love Star Wars, they will not hold back in making fun of the parts they think are really dumb, which makes it even better. These guys are strong in the force, and deserve your ears.
5 extra stars if they get Jon...
Thanks for a great podcast. I like that you're not the stereotypical Star Wars "nerds" that nitpick every thing and get so deep in the weeds that it's no longer fun. Also, the reason everyone knew about Vader being burned in lava was that it was in the Return of the Jedi book. I clearly remember reading it when I was a kid, but I don't know if the new runs have it in there. Thanks and keep having fun with the show.
I started reading SW books a year ago and only have a few friends to discuss w. I started searching for a podcast that talked about the books I've been reading and finally found this one. Outside of getting a few details wrong on characters I've totally enjoyed their perspective and humor while discussing the books. Please list your twitter handles so you can interact w your listeners and keep up the great work. Recommended this to a coworker and he's enjoyed it too.
Great podcast gentlemen.
This podcast helped me get excited about Star Wars again. It's hosted by three great, hilarious guys and if you want to stay caught up on everything Star Wars, this is a fantastic way to do it.
Sometimes I just want to hear nerds argue about the obscure and inane details of the Star Wars cannon. When I do, this is the place I go. End of story. Period.
If you like Star Wars at all, this podcast is a great way to be introduced to the expanded universe
If you're looking for an enthusiastic, informative, interesting discussion of the new Star Wars canon this is an absolutely can't miss podcast. Great job guys.
Hilarious podcast + Star Wars = 5 stars
Having the incredible personalities of Jesse Cox, Michael Davis, and Alex Faciane talk about my favorite franchise of all time, how could I not give it 5 stars? This is definitely my favorite podcast.
Out of all the Star Wars podcasts that I listen to, you guys consistently put out the most in depth discussions about the canon and actually explain your theories on what is happening with supporting evidence from the EU. Your passion for the franchise is second to none. Amazing work guys, can't wait for more!
These three gentlemen know their stuff with regards to the new Star Wars canon. They are the scholars of a new age.
My favorite podcast on iTunes. Nerds talking about Star Wars.
I've really enjoyed getting into the lore of Star Wars thanks to this podcast.
Alex is bae
This podcast got me back into the canon, after years scorning it. Humor and insight mixed in equal measure, worth checking out!
Refer to title.
I have been subscribed and listening to you guys since the begining. To top that off you've traveled with me on many trips and have been my companions as I drift to sleep many a night. Keep it up! If you want to hear the greatest bants about Star Wars, you should subscribe!
I love this show, I've listened to every episode multiple times! These guys have such great knowledge and insight in Star Wars, and it also just feels like I'm hanging out with my buds, having a nice chat!
As someone who loves Star Wars but doesn't read a lot of books, this podcast allows me to keep up with everything going on in the new canon, as well as all the Easter Eggs that pop up in the new movies. The hosts are funny and work off of each other well, so it's still worth a listen even if you're lost during the discussion. My only complaint is that I want more episodes, but I'm probably just selfish. Please, John Boyega, come on for an episode!
Want to hear three guys dig deep for 2-3 hours on a Star Wars book or series? Yes I do. I've also enjoyed hearing about books I'm probably not going to read. Or those Clone Wars series that I've long since forgot. I've also enjoyed hearing their theories on Rogue One prior to release based on the trailers and the Catalyst book. And then the Rogue One review was as long as the movie! I look forward to more from these guys. Hopefully, they will get around to some of the Legacy stuff we fondly remember but may not have held up with the passage of time. Now the bad part.. Their audio levels seem a bit low but jump up painfully when they get a little loud. Also one of the guys uses sound effect to add to his story or be humorous. Sometimes it hits, sometimes it misses.. I get the "sad trombone" sound effect (or Ewok celebration, and other Star Wars themes) and I'm guilty of using it myself. But in a podcast, when you need to use your words, sometimes it seems out of place.. Of course, whoever used the Ratts Tyrell death scream "waaaaa!" had me laughing for a few minutes.. So what do I know? Maybe it won't be for everyone, but I can't wait for more shows! A show truely worthy of a Mads Mikkelsen or John Boyega guest appearance. Thanks guys!
This podcast is one of the best, just real conversations about the stories I care about.
love u guys
These guys are great.
If you enjoy Star Wars and you enjoy the vibe of a few friends having a great time then I highly recommend this podcast.
Super great job
the hosts may not be every listeners cup of tea but i love their chemistry. you can tell they hang out all the time and share a great love for star wars. and their views on the new canon are often insightful.
This podcast reignited my love of Star Wars. It's very focused but also feels conversational in a way a lot of other podcasts lack. Davis, Alex, and Jesse make it easy to jump into the new cannon and geek out. It's nerdy and in depth but never feels exclusionary or elitist. Perfect manifestation of a book club podcast.
If you like Star Wars books, you'll like this. Nuff said
They set records for how many times the work like can be used in a sentence. Unlistenable.
Love Star Wars and love all these dudes! Great for long drives and just o hear more about the new lore! 💜 you guys!
I started listening to this to benefit from Jesse's command of the lore, but I've got to say, Davis is the MVP of this podcast. He surprises me every episode with the depth of his insight into the characters and the way he can tie Star Wars back to other classic stories. He understands good storytelling and is incredibly quick with the jokes. Subscribe for Jesse, stay for Davis. 5 stars.
This is consistently my favorite podcast. Jesse, Alex, and Davis deliver content in an entertaining and hilarious way so that even someone like me, who doesn't read along with them or dig too deep into Star Wars, can enjoy it just as much as them. Easily five stars. These guys rock.
I love SWNCBC, being a part of the book club is great because this is all stuff I look at and read anyway but have absolutly nobody to talk to about it. Everytime I say star wars my friends eyes glaze over.
Loving this podcast 5/5 -IGN
Lord Jesse and his two apprentices give you the run-down on the new Star Wars canon. Not only is their chemistry fantastic, but the show finds itself to be funny as well. "Vader, fix this radio." Would love to see this show on a more consistant basis if possible.
I read Bloodlines and watched the clone of wars seasons before listening to the podcast episodes about them and it definitely helped me keep up with the discussion but it's a fun podcast to listen to even if you didn't read/watch along. I don't have the time or money to read all the books and comics that have been coming out so the podcast has been a nice way for me to keep up with what's going on in the new cannon.
Love these guys. Great info on new SW canon material. Hilarious, inciteful, informative. Great observations & discussions on what happens or could happen in canon. Especially love the Life Debt one. Best single podcast about SW ever!
In response to a poor review, if you guys are college girls then you should totally swing by my place (;
I highly encourage any fans of the Star Wars movies to listen to this podcast, especially if they are new to the expanded universe material. Through an amalgamation of insightful and hilarious discussion, these passionate, nerdy Star Wars fans review everything from the latest books covering events immediately following Return of the Jedi, the Clone Wars/Rebels tv series, and the newest comic books which currently grace the shelves of bookstores everywhere. I enjoy listening to their predictions for the future of this franchise as well as their conversations regarding previous storylines which existed in the 'Legends' or old canon. In a fairly casual setting, they have a refreshing candor and chemistry that never fails to entertain. Too serious a review for you? Let me break it down: Listen to this group of friends talk about Star Wars. It's too fun to pass up.
Very good book and comic book review for the new Star Wars cannon. Another good one is Star Wars: Blaster Cannon. A podcast that as well as new canon books and comics also discusses Star Wars news and video games.
This is the best Star Wars book review panel out there. As far away from a NPR snooze fest as you can get. They have a true, excitement for Star Wars and you can hear it. Great show.
So I wake up, pretty good slep. I see wow, cox man has new podcasts. Seems pretty rad will check out, I load up podcast, I play podcast, I listen to podcast, I finish it.... TAN OUTTA TAAAAN. Very good, good talk good fun, Star Wars good.
I accidentally ran into this podcast. Holy crap this might be my new favorite!
Just found out about it. I am done with the first too and will be listening to them all. Great discussions, angles and Theories on all these things I have read.
Podcast consists of a cast of white guys that have a very narrow view of the Star Wars universe and is overall negative and bias towards certain aspects of the Star Wars franchise instead of being open.
Just what I was looking for, a discussion of Star Wars books! Waiting for the new movie last fall, I so wanted to love the book "Aftermath" but had the same reaction to it as they did. Glad it wasn't just me. I really enjoyed "Lost Stars" more than they did, but being a YA librarian and a female, it was what I was expecting and well written. Really looking forward to their discussion of "Bloodline". Their podcasts are entertaining and informative. They show real depth with their reference to Joseph Campbell's studies of the thousands of years of heroes mythology in human literature and storytelling. I can enjoy all the call outs to the Harry Potter books, but am glad they don't think this type of literature began with them as many younger people seem to do. And their episodes on the Star Wars movies and tv series are just as entertaining and informative. I may even have to try and track down the comic books through the public library now! Thanks guys! Keep them coming.
My ear holes love this podcast 😊
Hilarious and informative about the new Star Wars canon.
The guys on this show offer great perspectives on the things they cover. They understand what Star Wars should be. I look forward to every episode. I wish they would come out more often but I can't complain! Overall one of my favorite podcasts.
This is an awesome podcast! I just found it the other day but have already listened to all of your episodes and freaking love it! Most other podcast make you sound like an idiot if you don't catch something or their opinions are off but these guys are super funny and on point. Keep it up guys!!
This is a great podcast if you want to get into the new canon. They cover books, comics, tv shows, and movies. If it's new canon they'll talk about it. You can jump around episode just fine as well. Worth your time if you're new to the new canon or have read/seen it all. Highly recommended.
I stare at text on screens all day, and now you're making me read BOOKS? Okay, eBooks, but you know what I mean - FICTION. Just so I can know what you guys are talking about. Well played, Sith Lord.
I’ve been listening/watching jesse’s stuff since TGS podcast, this is BY FAR my favorite. Best commentary I’ve listened to for stars wars in general, because i know that’s meaningful coming from a fanboy like me. The combo of Alex,Davis, and Cox cannot be matched. I feel genuinely happy when i listen to it.
This pod cast is really entertaining. I just wish it had a more regular release schedule.
Jesse Cox you are a legend
If you love Star Wars and you want to hear a great group talk about it, then this is the book club for you. They are smart, funny, and you feel like you sat with a group of friends and had a wonderful time.
You are amazing Jesse
This podcast is very entertaining and engaging. I watched The Force Awakens recently and wanted to dive into the new canon and go nuts. This podcast is the perfect gateway with really good insight into the books.
Best way to connect the books and comics to the movies
You guys have done it again. This podcast has so far given me a great place to find out about new books I might be interested in and just become a great place in general to hear about new theories as we anxiously await the next few movies. For once in a very long time we don't know anything that's going to happen next, and you make me feel excited for Star Wars all over again. Definitely worth a listen for anyone who's a fan, both new or old.
I know podcasts are free, but for the love of God stop saying the word like every 4th word. You guys sound like college girls. I will be a regular listener if you can do that. If not, I'm out.
This is less a book club and more a chance for them to complain about what they didn't like about the Star Wars universe as a whole.
If you want to hear three grown men argue and debate about a fantasy galaxy, you've definitely come to the right place. Jesse, Alex, and Davis fanboy about all the cool things and complain to hell about the things they feel are unfit for star wars. Perfect to listen to while gaming or in the car. Only complaint is that they do not give The Clone Wars series enough credit when they mention it.
As an avid podcast listener this has to be one of my new favorites. Wonderfully authentic, informed and interesting for any star wars fan. Would highly recommend. Great job guys.
Loved hearing the stories because I can't afford all the books. This pod cast keeps me in the loop and it's great and funny. Listen to it.
Books! Star Wars books! Like what? Hmmm
Great show and an awesome idea. Your going to have a ton of content to cover over the coming years.
Focusing on the new canon of the Star Wars franchise as opposed to the older canon offers a brand new experience for any listener of this podcast. It is also easy to follow for someone who is new to Star Wars lore, like myself. The books themselves only serve as a platform for Jesse, Davis and Alex to build and expand on. New and Old Star Wars fans alike will be able to take part and listen to the discussions that take place in this podcast and find nostalgic factors as well as food for thought for the future of Star Wars.
Jesse Cox never fails to deliver great content! I love they're thoughts on the book and how they delve into characters and backstories and how they talk about how the book relates to the franchise and such. These three managed to sum up exactly how everyone felt and will feel reading this book and will most likely do the same with the other books they cover! Jesse, You've done it again man!!!
