Bostrum mix up   (1/5)

Why is there a picture and name of Zachary Bostrum in the place of Nick Bostrum. I just started listening. Basic science, easy to understand. But mistakes. Not sure what I think yet. Could be better. Agree that it’s monotone.

🤯   (5/5)

For the novice level scientist/academic, there may be some moments of confusion. This podcast does require a bit of higher level thought, but not much. It is broken down very well, appropriate for anyone with a fascination of the cosmos, physics, science in general, or a college-ish student education. In addition, as the title suggests, it has the adult theme of the apocalypse; I believe it takes a certain level of mind to comprehend death, especially at the scale of extinction. However bleak the title may be though, it isn’t a dark, scary podcast! It brought me (to tears at one point, honestly... they were small) great hope and inspiration. So well done, I have so much appreciation for this series.

Excellent work   (5/5)

Excellent series, bringing together the top thinkers in each subject matter covered. Outstanding.

Great podcast, got me thinking   (5/5)

The host sounds exactly like Mark Ruffalo

Maybe my all time favorite podcast   (5/5)

Not sure what that says about me, but really, this podcast is fantastic. Though the subject might seem like a bummer, if you’re science-minded and like to learn, it’s a sure bet. I hope Josh considers a part 2, or does a similar solo project in the future. Dude is intensely likable, and really put himself into his work. Run, don’t walk. 13/10

Monotone!   (2/5)

Like the subject but it’s so monotone I can barely stand it!

Great job!   (5/5)

I loved this podcast. The topics are a bit tough to swollen but it’s stuff we should all be thinking about. Keep it up, Josh!

Five Star Rating   (5/5)

Five Star Rating wish there more episodes

Episode 6 Biotechnology   (5/5)

I had to go back and listen to this episode again from 2018. Joshe's scenerio of a accidental or otherwise release of a virus getting out is read like a script for exactly what is happening now, and he should get the credit for predicting the 2020 coronavirus pandemic though not knowing it at the time. The communist Chinese government is of course not going to admit that someone in its labs spread the virus but that's analogus to OJ Simpson wearing the gloves that didn't fit so you must aquit!" so thank you Josh.

The pandemic is here!   (5/5)

I happened upon episode 6 while in the middle of the COVID19 pandemic. Listening to this foreshadowing is creepy! Beautifully produced and well researched, this podcast is quite interesting. I love hearing Josh’s voice, although I keep expecting a goofy dad joke or something... :)

Outstanding   (5/5)

An exceptionally researched and fascinating series.

I want more.   (5/5)

So interesting and well put together. I would love to see this pod continue.

So good!   (5/5)

Josh does an incredible job with this series! Each episode is so good I’ve listened to each one a few times. The score is also fantastic!

My favorite podcast ever💮   (5/5)

🤯😳😎🧐😱☺️😆😅💮

Version without music?   (3/5)

Really want to listen to this. However, the background music never cuts out. I just can’t get past that, it is unimaginable distracting to me. If a version without music was uploaded I would download for sure.

Amazing   (5/5)

Best podcast out there for sure

Deepest mind-bending podcast ever!   (5/5)

Josh Clark explores the deepest threats to our existence, and closes with the hardest- to-understand future concepts. When you get done with this, you will have changed...

Starts very strong, ends a little weakly   (4/5)

The first 5 episodes are amazing and completely engrossing. I really like Josh's delivery and voice which makes listening a joy. The last couple of episodes were a bit of a let down for me though.

Whoa   (5/5)

I keep coming back to this amazing podcast when little things in life seem too big. Thank you!

Absolutely Awesome!   (5/5)

Incredibly informative and thought provoking! Josh does an amazing job of presenting the material without the distractions of far right or far left biases. I definitely recommend!

Important   (5/5)

Fascinating, informative and I dare say important. I would start with Ep. 9 which stresses the crucial importance of this moment in our history.

Fantastic Podcast   (5/5)

I loved this podcast. It was so well done and so very interesting. If you’ve ever taken a moment to ponder your existence then this podcast is for you. I can’t wait to listen to it again!

Smart with an engaging X factor   (5/5)

This is officially my favorite non-fiction podcast! Josh Clark has that engaging X factor that will keep you coming back for more.

Best of what podcasting should be   (5/5)

This series is so well researched and produced! Josh Clark's personality comes through the speakers in an educational and comforting way, as per usual. I learned so much which could be considered terrigying, but Josh's approach in explaining the details while also delivering hope I find encouraging. This is a must listen!

Well done   (5/5)

I thought this would be a negative and hopeless rant but I was so wrong. This is a well researched and actually hopeful conversation that is so critical right now. If only the human race could put aside their petty differences and self centered tendencies- what wonderful and beautiful things we could accomplish. Thank you for this podcast.

Amazing   (5/5)

I LOVE THIS PODCAST!!!

Mind-expanding   (5/5)

Who cares how flawlessly entertaining this is folks, there is a larger, much more important message here. (And I thought it was beautifully done for that matter.) Josh, who I love from Stuff You Should Know, has clearly researched this topic rigorously, and we need to LISTEN. Josh, thank you for trying to warn humanity about the risks we will soon face. I’ve read several scientific books on existential risks. They are real.

Better Than/Good as Attenborough   (5/5)

...Sir David Attenborough (for those that care). Binge-able and relisten-able. Fascinating.

Josh Clark always delivers   (5/5)

Listened to this because I love Josh and Chuck's Stuff You Should Know podcast. Josh is probably my single favorite podcast host, and I listen to a good 3-4 hours of podcast per day across dozens of pods. No one else has Josh's perfect balance of thoughtful, thought-provoking insights and goofy, shower thought/philosoraptor-type comments. It works particularly well on SYSK because Chuck sort of acts as his straight man by responding how we at home would like to. So I was a little concerned he wouldn't be as entertaining without Chuck since they have really good chemistry, and doubly so because it's a solo pod. For those concerned about the same thing, fear not. Josh is pro. He's equally as talented by himself as with a co host. Yes, this doesn't have the same level of off the wall comments and oddly compelling tangents, but you know how I said the other part of the Josh equation is thoughtful insight? This thing is filled to the brim with those. Just give the Fermi Paradox episode a listen and decide for yourself. Seriously top notch stuff every bit as mind blowing as the best of Radiolab, This American Life or Stuff to Blow Your Mind (pods I highly recommend as well btw). And it is still hosted by Josh. You'll recognize plenty of his trademark personality even if it isn't coming through in the same way all the time.

Fascinating   (5/5)

Really thorough and well done. Love listening to Josh.

Thank You & More Please!   (5/5)

I’ve followed Stuff You Should Know for a decade. I’ve listened to every episode. End of the World is incredible, researched story telling at its best. Thank you for this gem I devoured it all in one road trip. It’s amazing to hear that other brains work like mine. Since watching The Matrix for the first time at 13 I’ve wondered about simulations, the future, and what is this whole thing on earth about? With the rare coincidental moments we all have together. What do we do with them? Learning, sharing your thoughts, and connecting with your species. Thanks for keeping some of us sane when we have moments of loneliness along our way.

Want more   (5/5)

I want more of this podcast. It makes me very happy. Well produced, well thought out, brilliantly executed. Well done Mr. Clark.

Josh nails the mood of this podcast   (5/5)

Entertaining, well written, thought provoking. Can’t say enough about how pleasant of a listening experience this series is!

Reminds Me Of Dan Carlin’s: Hardcore Pod   (4/5)

Although the topics of this podcast & Dan Carlin’s Hardcore are different, they’re running the same parallel line... in parallel dimensions, or past & future... per say. Both of them even present the material the same way & say the word existential MULTIPLE times. Which just backs my observation that both podcasts are similar. So if you like Dan Carlin’s Hardcore, you’ll definitely love this because it is more enjoyable, but not exactly “sit on the end of your seat”, nail biting exciting... at least not yet.

Excellent listen   (5/5)

I would consider myself of average intelligence with only high school under my belt and these episodes were easy to understand and fun to listen to. The score really takes you on a journey. I feel like I’ve taken a gateway drug and I want more. Listened to while working away and helped the time go fast. Fun, exciting, and enlightening!

Mind blowing!   (5/5)

As a huge “Stuff You Should Know” fan, I don’t know why it took me so long to listen but so glad I finally have. These episodes are so interesting, informative, but also extremely scary! For example, bio lab accidents or careless shipping of pathogens. 😳 This is a binge worthy podcast.

Fascinating and Well Done   (5/5)

I listen to many podcasts, and I wasn’t sure what to expect from this one. I’ve loved Stuff You Should Know for a long time, and I was curious about this solo project with Josh Clark. It blew me away! It was so well done, I listened to it all in 2 days. Loved it!! Awesome job Josh and team!!!

Astoundingly good   (5/5)

The only other podcasts I’ve ever really listened to are Stuff You Should Know and the Alton Browncast. This will join those two. Hooked immediately, burned through it in less than 24 hours, loved every minute of it. Just listen to it. Can’t wait for season 2. Amazing job Josh and everyone.

Josh Clark is my hero   (5/5)

This podcast is unreal. I listened twice. I recommended it to everyone I know. It literally changed the way I perceive the world around me. Thank you Josh, you’re the man.

Knock your socks off   (5/5)

Best podcast in the history of podcasts. Josh Clark has really found his stride with this one. Somebody, please pay him more, because he MURDERED this. This podcast blew my socks off. Josh, you’re the best and if your read this, tell Chuck he may need to step up his game.

I am broken   (5/5)

To say this podcast blew my mind is an incredible understatement. I can’t even think of anything else to say just listen to it bro

Perfect podcast   (5/5)

I love this podcast. It is so informative and intriguing.

🧐   (5/5)

Much win, very yes

Best   (5/5)

By far the best podcast I’ve ever listened to and have listened to it several times over.

Worth many repeat listens!   (5/5)

I discovered this podcast about a month ago, and I’m about to start my fourth start-to-finish listen. Extremely information-rich, I would love to see this published in book form! From the Great Filter debate to the Simulation Hypothesis discussion, every episode is a winner, delivered in Josh’s own inimitable style. I have been recommending this series to everyone I know! Here’s hoping for a second series!

Listen immediately if not sooner.   (5/5)

Everyone, everyone, stop what you’re doing and listen to this podcast immediately if not sooner. The information is so worth it. Oh and I should probably say that the sound quality is great, the soundtrack is great, and the information is interesting, informative and presented in an entertaining format. My only problem is that this is not required listening for all.

Amazing   (5/5)

I’m not sure how to explain how much I love this podcast? The descriptions, sound effects the story line. The explanations of various theories. Completely mind blown!

Amazing way of thinking   (5/5)

Being able to follow special instructions by broadcasting true intelligence.

Stellar   (5/5)

I love Josh; I love the subject matter. My one ‘issue’ is with Josh’s noncommittal treatment of the Fermi Paradox. However, after reading other reviews for this podcast, I completely understand his restraint. The number of creationists whining and moaning about Josh’s ‘failure’ to incorporate creationism into his fact-based/logic-centered commentary////accusing Josh of bias////accusing him, somehow, of whimsy and folly, is terribly obnoxious. Keep trucking Josh, as I know you will! Everything you put out there is amazing. 🖤🖤🖤

This Podcast Will Never Die! ! !   (5/5)

I continue to listen to this podcast till this day. No doubt one of the greatest ever. I use to get so hype waiting on the new episodes back in the day hahaha It’d be dope if you made a mini docuseries of off this. I’d watch every episode !

Deep thought   (5/5)

Great series.

So thoughtful, superbly presented   (5/5)

The topics and ideas in this podcast are mind blowing, and are presented in a very understandable way.

What a podcast!   (5/5)

A amazing podcast that not only make you think and questions. but also gives out various stipulation and explanations of risk. Thank you Josh Clark and all who brought this amazing podcast to life

Great show   (5/5)

Josh explains phenomena so I can understand them.

One of the most important shows of this decade   (5/5)

Well researched and presented, along with a great sound track. Every episode is more chilling and fascinating then the last. I highly recommend that every human being listen to this to get a good sense of where we are in this moment in time.

Great questions and pondering   (5/5)

Lots of great questions, hypothetical situations, and things to do to prevent what may happen. We can do this!

EOTW w/ Josh Clark is gorgeous   (5/5)

This is the epitome of my inner dialogue since I was a teenager. All that philosophical musing and pondering and calculating. I love every word! This needs to be a video series because it’s even better than Cosmos!

Wow!   (5/5)

Completely engulfed my mind! Beautiful information.

Mind blown!   (5/5)

Every single episode blew my mind. I can’t recommend this enough. Very informative and professionally done.

Don't be scurrr’d, the end of the world is awesome   (5/5)

I am probably on my 10th listen of this podcast all the way through. Is so beautiful, so smart, so brave. It is soothing and compelling. Josh is my favorite podcast voice ever.

Best Podcast I’ve ever heard   (5/5)

So worth the time to listen

Amazing!   (5/5)

I loved the way this podcast handled the issues that might end the world.

Cannot recommend enough   (5/5)

Lovely and smart and brilliantly paced. This podcast single-handedly weened me off of political punditry and back into science. Cannot recommend enough.

Amazing!   (5/5)

Amazingly well researched and thought out. Everyone needs to listen to this series!

The End of the Podcast   (5/5)

So sad this is over. Phenomenal content that sheds new light on familiar concepts and brings far more new concepts to light. If you’re interested in dimensions, reality, and scope of existence, this is exactly the kind of thing you wish was far more common. What an agreeable and perfect host. Reminds me of a young, American David Attenborough.

Techno-optimistic propaganda   (2/5)

Don’t worry everyone, science and technology have everything under control! Never mind who funds the technological advances and for what purposes, we get neat gadgets with enough distractions to fill every waking moment! Mass non-participation in industrialized society is the only way to avoid ecological disaster and worldwide panic. The world will not end, but go on without us. Unless we give up our luxuries and comforts now, so future generations can live, we bring suffering on a global scale to all humanity. Leaving Earth is not only a copout, but a laughable idea.

Excellent   (5/5)

This is a nice collection of all the stuff that I think about. It’s really well put together and Josh does an awesome job talking about complicated subjects in a way that relatively easy to understand.

Please do another!   (5/5)

❤️ well written, great music, well researched

Excellent   (5/5)

This was really good!!!

Great podcast with easily digestible ideas that are quite complex   (5/5)

Josh Clarke delivers a plethora of interesting ideas that most of us have heard of, but haven’t delved into. The host has a gift for explaining information in way that is relatable to our lives in the 21st century.

Chilling   (5/5)

When I took the time to think about how fragile our existence is, it makes me more motivated to enjoy the present and not plan so heavily for the future. We need to radically change the way we treat our planet, but everything else is fleeting. Always love your work, Josh.

Fascinating and beautiful!   (5/5)

You might think a podcast about all the ways mankind could go extinct would be a real bummer, but I found it strangely uplifting! Every second is engaging and provocative. Can’t recommend highly enough!

Josh   (5/5)

This was absolutely a fantastic listen. Also I love your voice. Keep up the great work Thanks so much for expanding my mind to new possibilities!

🚀👽🙏🏼🧘🏼‍♀️🤓   (5/5)

Josh. Thank you. You compassion and radiance is extra-stellar and your life’s work is immensely enhancing the human race...(if not other life forms out there.) Your scripted dialogue is a refreshing change. Your voice is as mellow and muppet-like as ever. You have done such a excellent job my friend. I wish for you all the peace and joy there is to be had. Can’t wait to see how you expand next. Thank you for giving us your best. -Synda

I love this BUT Clark has to learn to speak   (3/5)

Take some classes. Or hire an actor who can speak well. Radio is an auditory medium. It’s super irritating and grating to listen to all that lisping and sing songy tone.

Good   (3/5)

Good hook good end ok middle not quite four stars

incredible   (5/5)

so well researched and so informative. love it.

GD   (5/5)

This series is SOLID AF! I’m used to a semi silly Josh but this is outstanding narration that’s hard to turn off. I’m only halfway done with the series and I’m already dreading finishing it! Great work

Solid mini-series   (4/5)

I listen to about half the topics on Josh's stuff you should know podcast, but this was a topic that intersted me and I knocked out all 12 episodes pretty quick. Good info presentation and not the kind of opinion where he's trying to force you into thinking his way.

Too good to be missed!   (5/5)

Crucially-important and valuable information—researched, written, produced and recorded beautifully. An extraordinary gift to humanity wrapped up in a clear, entertaining, inspiring package. Thank you Josh Clark! More more more please!

Good work.   (5/5)

Thanks!

I need more!!   (5/5)

Please please PLEASE, create a new show like this!

Wow!   (5/5)

This. Is. So. GOOD! I wish there was more!

Great!   (5/5)

Bring on season 2!

Amazing   (5/5)

So wonderful and well done. Sadly yet strangely appropriate, this is a podcast that I’ve fallen asleep to. I shouldn’t fall asleep to a podcast about existential risks but we’re all sleeping on these things, right?

One word: Best   (5/5)

This is the best podcast I’ve ever heard. Only one I’ve ever listened to twice.

Great podcast!   (5/5)

My husband and I recently went on a 24 hour round trip that I had been dreading for months. So being a SYSK junkie, I tried to find something we could both agree on. He is very picky and generally does not like podcasts. He is a let's say a 10 on existential awareness while I am a solid point five. I was willing to jump into his sci-fi-fi world, but figured he would discount this podcast as elementary. Well great news ... he loved it. And so did I. This is very well written and narrated to perfection for people on all levels of awareness. Great job and thank you, you made our dreaded road trip quite enjoyable. And my own awareness is now a solid 10 and we have connected on an existential level.

Nice work Josh   (5/5)

Love the topics and Josh has stepped up his game as a podcast host and presenter! Thanks dude!

My favorite   (5/5)

That was one of the most thought provoking journeys I have been on in a long time. I loved every second, of every episode. I listened to all 10 episodes, twice. I truly hope that there are many more seasons to come. Thanks Josh.

Brilliant!   (5/5)

Brilliant podcast. Perhaps the best I've ever listened to. You obviously have to be interested in the subject, but if you are it is presented in such a professional and interesting way... There is absolutely nothing to criticize. I can't wait for Josh Clark's next endeavor.

Makes you feel so smart   (5/5)

This podcast makes you feel so smart. Josh Clarke presents so well and makes smart stuff easy to understand

Soothing, fun and informative   (5/5)

Loved this!

Fave Series Ever   (5/5)

I absolutely love detailed explanation of scientific arguments. Add that to 'stories' of apocalyptic possibilities and an almost hypnotic sound design and you get a truly great podcast. I hope more of this kind of show is to come.

Great podcast   (4/5)

The content is fascinating and I highly recommend this podcast BUT the ads for The Ron Burgundy podcast were so terribly obnoxious and totally unrelated I wanted to smash my phone on the ground every time I heard them. Otherwise it’s excellent and I wish there were more episodes.

Good show from beginning to end.   (5/5)

Entertaining and informative. Definitely worth your time.

This isn’t zombies,   (5/5)

it’s real analysis of existential threats explained using science that a non-scientist like me can understand. I became aware of these things several years ago when I read “The World without Us” and “The Sixth Extinction.” I’m 67 and won’t know how things work out in 50 years but I’m excited to see millennials and the next generation starting to stand up against destroying the one habitable planet we know of.

Amazing listen!   (5/5)

I enjoyed devouring this series and even went back for a second listen.

I wish I could listen to this for the first time again   (5/5)

Josh please make more or continue with your side projects (and still the greatness that is SYSK!!) because this series was fascinating and I wish I could hear it again the first time!

Great content, okay delivery   (4/5)

The content of this podcast is extremely intriguing and on a class of its own. However, the delivery is closer to the boring side. It seems to be a straight up reading of text with few vocal inflections. I almost didn’t give it a chance because of the lack of emotion.

Fantastic!   (5/5)

Every episode captures and boggles the brain to no end! I am so sad that there are only 10 episodes!

Interesting until political   (3/5)

Interesting program until the inevitable (should have known) drift into a liberal political position. However, still an interesting listen and worth it.

Great premise   (2/5)

Great premise, however it was quite a labor to get through the series. Often boring and jumps around and doesn’t finish points it brings up. It’s good, but I expected a much better series.

The dark and sexy side of nerdy   (5/5)

I loved this podcast and was sad when I finished it. Honestly it is one of my all time favorites. The concepts covered are freaking brilliant.

Review   (5/5)

This was so well done. I’d be interested in hearing more in the future.

Exceptional Thought Provoking Hit!   (5/5)

If you love Josh Clark’s stellar research on Stuff You Should Know, you’ll be happy to know that he ups the ante in this mind blowing podcast. I can’t say anything negative about this series. It has great music, insane in-depth research and a fantastic host in Josh Clark. He talks to experts about ideas that are truly terrifying or inspiring. A great look at the power behind the sciences of today and how to avert the growing pains of new technology and knowledge. This show might just help us all save the world.

LISTEN   (5/5)

Josh breaks down existentiantial threats into human terms. It’s not a threat warning or hysterical thought, but well-measured and researched analysis. I wish I worked with with guys and Gals like these. Don’t stop. Name to publish: Rick Shangle.

Soothing Doom   (5/5)

I love Josh and Chuck. Josh really shines here doing his thing. Great detail, great vibe, great atmosphere. My only issue is with the ads. I know we need ads in our podcast system but the Will Ferrel adds with Will Ferrel screaming at me to listen to his podcast was a bummer. Ruined the calm vibe. I love Will F. too but those ads ruined any chance of me listening to his podcast.

Sound Engineer by Night   (3/5)

Only quib, sound engineer mixing all over. Take a listen.

Top notch   (5/5)

Very informative as well as entertaining

Awesome   (5/5)

Josh Clark is awesome. This podcast is awesome.

You must listen   (5/5)

There is so much fascinating, important, and crazy information in this podcast. Those who don’t know much about science (or this area of science) will learn a lot. Not to be missed.

Hard to stop listening   (5/5)

Not only entertaining but also informative.

Surprisingly fun!   (5/5)

Dark topics, great story telling, easy to listen to yet super fun to see where it ends up. Always love hearing Josh on anything but this feels very him. Very well done. Lots of info but he makes it easy to absorb

Required listening   (5/5)

Every citizen of this planet should be required to listen to this. Excellent information depth without going too deep or getting lost in the weeds.

I love it   (5/5)

Thank you so much for making this series

absolutely brilliant   (5/5)

dark at times, hopeful in others, but imminently listenable. josh clark is a great host and delves deep into some fascinating existential topics.

Boring   (1/5)

Tried to listen to several episodes, but grew bored after 5 minutes into each one. Sorry Josh.

I never write reviews. I just had to give this one 5 stars!   (5/5)

This has got to be one of the most interesting podcast series I’ve ever listened to. Beautifully crafted and endlessly engaging. I’ve learned so much in just the first four episodes 💯🙌

I didn’t know I needed to listen to this until I did.   (5/5)

I just started listening to this because I was bored, but I have come to realize just how applicable this is to life in this era. I believe that everyone should listen to this podcast and if you are on the fence, like I was, this podcast was worth my time.

Exceptional   (5/5)

I loved every second of this series. It’s superbly interesting and thoroughly researched. The way information builds upon itself is very organic. Clark makes these complex and fascinating ideas easy to understand. I obnoxiously recommend this podcast to basically every single person I encounter. 🤯🤩😄🤣😭💖

Mind knowledge   (5/5)

I really enjoy the knowledge that this podcast brings, not just like thinking about the way life or the world is going to possibly end or come to a desastre. But to me in full about knowledge of how things and science and space work. I am a big fan of try to learn physics and a lot of questions about stuff. And listening to this podcast I understand way better a few aspects I couldn’t understand before about physics or Astro physics. Overall knowledge great! Love it. Hopefully you keep going on. Please!!!

Wowza   (5/5)

I literally never rate podcasts. I’ve rated like one before, but this is the first one where I was so impressed that i was like WOW gotta tell people how good this is. I want more in this, a series about existential risk of all forms that are threatening humanity. 10/10

What are you on about?   (2/5)

An auditory rendition of pulp sci-fi available at odd hours on the History channel, delivered in a monotone drivel.

Wow!   (5/5)

Even though I truly don’t have an advanced education in science, I was able to learn a great deal from this podcast. If I only can now have an intelligent conversation with my physicist son about a few of these topics, I win! Thank you for this!

Life changing??   (5/5)

Truly changed my life perspective. Josh can do no wrong!!!

What a loser.   (1/5)

This guy can’t host a show, can’t stand him or the way he approaches his subject matter and his voice is obnoxious.

Wonderful Podcast   (5/5)

This podcast is excellent and has truly changed the way I think about life and the future. It's a must listen for anyone who is wondering where the human race is headed.

One of my favorite podcasts!   (5/5)

So much fun to listen to! Binged the entire podcast in one day. Informative and thought provoking. Definitely worth your time.

Very Well Done   (5/5)

Love it! You do an awesome job!

Just as good as you would hope   (5/5)

So far impressed by the writing and editing. You won’t be disappointed. Come for the existential dread, stay for the thoughtfulness!

Worth every episode   (5/5)

Engrossing, edifying, and definitely worth listening to.

Very well done, but misses one big theory.   (3/5)

Josh is amazing at podcasting. As most know. This pod is very entertaining and offers many theories. But one is missing..the creation theory. Putting religion aside, the first couple episodes to me strengthen the creation argument. Example: “There’s some fundamental governing force of nature, that causes life to assemble along predictable lines. We just haven’t figured out what that force or those lines are yet.” Answer? GOD

Thought provoking   (5/5)

Makes me wish I would have gone into bio med fiend or nano tech vs telecommunications and entertainment... but hey.. I love snippets of instant knowledge like this. Great podcast.

Thought provoking   (5/5)

This podcast is both excellent and terrifying. After listening to the ancestor simulation episode, I got sucked down a rabbit trail on the internet about the subject. It may have caused me to have a slight existential crisis. But still worth listening to this show!

Though Provoking   (5/5)

This was a well written, exceptionally produced, and thought provoking, podcast. I highly recommend it.

Great Lister, Want More!   (5/5)

I listened to this series when it came out late 2018. Have relistened to with great enjoyment and would love more on this interesting subject.

Awesome podcast   (5/5)

I enjoy and like the simplicity on how everything is explained. Definitely will have my kids listen to this podcast with me. Great job!

Four stars because   (4/5)

Global Authoritiarian Force cannot be the only answer. Darkness falls.

Carl Sagan-esque   (5/5)

Josh reminds me a lot of Carl Sagan in this podcast. I loved it and want more! Thank you Josh!

Speechless   (5/5)

This is one of the most amazing, insightful podcasts I have ever listened to. The research is so detailed and it really is one of those things that you can’t stop listening to. Josh Clark does an amazing job of keeping you on the edge of your seat and introduces concepts that you would have never even thought of as being a possibility for the end of the world. I just listened to Star Talk and he was featured and mentioned that he plans to create a follow up to this and I have never been more excited for something. Also, the quantum physics episode was ridiculously interesting. 10/5. Love love love.

We'll All Die Unless We Think   (5/5)

The End of the World is a monumental piece of entertainment. Truly, it is enlightening and frightening. Many of the subjects Josh discussed were things we already knew and were in the public consciousness. But they are things that by definition are hard to wrap your mind around and often subsequently become forgotten. HowStuffWorks has done a magnificent job of fully explaining every aspect of existential risks thoroughly, informatively, and sincerely. Awareness of existential risks never seemed more important. Great work.

Amazing podcast   (5/5)

This is a must listen podcast! Incredible well done. Fascinating and thought provoking.

Existential risk   (5/5)

Josh’s droning cadence soothes my soul. Like a backscratcher for my brain it is! Great job keep doing what you do so well.

Loved it!   (5/5)

I have never been interested in either the hard sciences or the end of the world, but this podcast is both illuminating and accessible. I listened to the whole thing, then went and listened to it again.

Incredible quality + thought provoking   (5/5)

Can’t stop listening. Very well done

Truly Remarkable   (5/5)

I don’t think I’ve ever been so fascinated before. Found myself wishing I could find a way to broadcast this to the entire world. Absolutely a must to listen to. Incredible job, Josh!

Very Entertaining   (5/5)

In general, I’m a huge fan of the way Josh is able to research and convey information in a way that is easily digestible by the listener. I can easily recommend this podcast to anyone interested in deep thinking about the origins of life, the meaning of life, or space in general. It does an excellent job of giving a brief overview of the theories out there. Awesome work, Josh!

This is freaking awesome   (5/5)

Anyone who loves thinking about the improbability of life along with the insane expansion of space will absolutely love this. I’ve never been so enthralled by a story about our existence without pictures. Thank you Josh! 💙🙏😊

Engaging & Entertaining   (5/5)

This podcast is packed full of interesting facts and theories and had me more engaged than any podcast I’ve listened to before—highly recommend 👌

The Best   (5/5)

Hands down one of the best podcasts I have ever listened to. From the production value to the subject matter, pure excellence.

Brilliant   (5/5)

Best podcast series I’ve ever listened to, listened to the whole thing in one day. Very well done.

My two cents   (4/5)

My favorite episode was the one on biotechnology. Possible humanity ending plagues get my creative juices flowing. But I hate, hate, hate the simulation argument. It lost a star for that stupidity.

Precisely   (5/5)

Eloquently wrote, and narrated. As a common scientific minded construction worker, I can finally express my beliefs to questions often directed my way. In a more understood and linear manner. Or just say, “listen to this”.

Cosmos, Connections, and Germs Guns Steel   (5/5)

In the same league as James Burke's Connection, Jarred Diamond's Guns, Germs, and Steel, and Carl Sagan's Cosmos.

Amazing   (5/5)

Listened to this series twice already. Amazing. The last episode blew my mind away.

Scary but fun   (5/5)

Great breadth of topics and presents the info in a way that really makes you think.

Thought Provoking   (5/5)

This is well researched and well thought out foray into the existential crisis of humanity creating its own end or experiencing the end of ourselves through external means. It’s revealing, but that reveal exposes our deepest concerns and expresses the worries of our lives as we grow as one race. I highly recommend that you pay attention and learn, for these issues face us all regardless of your or my involvement with any of them.

I'll give it a shot...   (5/5)

...though I am troubled with the leading premise, that we are probably alone in the universe. It's a short sided viewpoint. It's equally possible that we are alone and that we are not alone.

Excellent   (5/5)

I live. For podcast like this one, keep it coming Josh👍

Great show   (5/5)

Amazing show.

Extremely interesting   (5/5)

Especially to any science/tech/philosophy/game theory fans out there. Very well done. Highly recommend.

Disappointing   (1/5)

Sounds like Josh has moved to the dark-side of fear mongering. His podcast, if taken seriously, basically makes science sound evil and will surely scare people (not all) who may take action against science. Very sad

Fantastic   (5/5)

Excellent and thought provoking dive into the biggest risks we face as a species. Super interesting and also includes great sound effects that add to the depth and entertainment of the podcast. Well done Josh!

Awesome show!   (4/5)

What a great show! The stuff about Elon Musk’s theories remind me of my own Apple podcast, Baseless & Illogical, because we talked about Musk’s success and one of his theories in our Billionaires episode. All in all, great podcast! Keep it up!

Irresponsible!!!!!!   (1/5)

Everything was amazing about this series, until episode 7 @ 3:45 when I almost crashed my car. Needs a warning attached to this podcast.

Mind Blown   (5/5)

Intensely thought-provoking podcast. Well researched and assembled information that should be mandatory listening for any policy maker.

Existential Risks you should know   (5/5)

Another win for Josh. Necessary listening. SUBSCRIBE.

Love it   (5/5)

What a great thought provoking podcast you’ve done. Can’t wait for more!

Excellence. Hands down.   (5/5)

Absolutely the best podcast I’ve ever listened to. Thought provoking beyond words.

Terrible   (1/5)

Terrible. Gloom and doom. Advocates setting up a central entity to that answers to nobody to overthrow governments to stop existential risk.

Disappointing and I’ll tell you why...   (2/5)

Josh is a fantastic podcast host. He is enjoyable to listen to and clearly works hard to research well a topic. Listening to this podcast, however, makes him sound extremely unintelligent. Of course he’s not, but when you talk about life on earth and a “special” earth and the unlikelihood of life emerging and everything that had to happen for that to take place, but you don’t even mention the possibility of intelligent design or a creator - something that billions of people on earth believe - you lose credibility. Fine if you don’t believe in intelligent design, but to not even mention it as a possibility, while at the same time talking about aliens crashing into space dust and not being able to reach earth, you sound unintelligent and you lose credibility as a good and fair researcher. I agree with another reviewer who says that Josh should have incorporated different world views and opinions by talking to theologians and philosophers of all different types, in addition to the scientists he references. Without a wider spectrum of opinions on a topic that all disciplines address, his podcast is grossly biased and narrow in scope. For this reason this podcast loses a lot of credibility and doesn’t interest me at all.

Think...and change   (5/5)

This is my favorite podcast ever. Josh tackles the complex, challenging topic of existential risk with great heart and professionalism. He provides hope for humanity amidst an often seemingly-bleak future.

Masterpiece of scientific exploration!   (5/5)

This is a heady but spellbinding account of actual existential dangers that we now, or very soon, may face. The thought and research that must have gone into such a presentation is truly impressive and much appreciated. Everyone should listen to this series because if enough folks hear this information it could very well save the universe.

Fantastic   (5/5)

As the name suggests this is dark and uncomfortable information, but necessary for all conscience people to hear. There is hope here! Thank you Josh. I love this series.

What a wild ride!   (5/5)

I’ve been a SYSK fan for years now, and it’s great to see Josh Clark absolutely killing it with this solo pod. He’s really got a knack for distilling extremely difficult concepts in science, physics, and even philosophy into easily digestible pieces everyone can relate to. The End of the World is a MUST LISTEN. This many 5 star reviews can’t be wrong, right? Now go tap that subscribe button.

Uterly addictive and exceptionally narrated.   (5/5)

Josh Clark deliveres an exceptionally delightful podcast that will leave you questioning the future of human civilization.

Mind Blown!   (5/5)

This is a very well done podcast with really fascinating ways the world could end.

Ehh   (1/5)

Pretty boring. Start off listening then forget you’ve been whispered to in a monotone voice for an hour. No idea what you were talking about but it was not that cool.

A must listen!   (5/5)

Absolutely loved it and learned so much. Top 5 easy

Why must you mansplain?   (2/5)

I’m sorry Josh, I love SYSK so much, I go to live shows, I’m a fan! But this show is slow, boring, it mansplains to an unbelievable degree. You make weird assumptions that are not helpful (there would have to be a militarily powerful global gov’t to combat ex risks? really? That’s the only possible solution??...) and you barely glaze over the surface of the concepts you cover. It’s as if we are listening to josh clark slowly mansplain the things he worries about. You should have collaborated with someone and gotten more input and liveliness because I see the potential, and these topics bear thoughtful discussion! But this ain’t it.

Quite possibly the most important podcast you’ll ever listen to   (5/5)

Your survival, and your kids’ and grandkids’ survival, depends on more people knowing the topics covered in this podcast. It’s heavy stuff, no doubt. Weighty, and in places, terrifying. But Josh’s delivery is near perfect, and he presents a prognosis that’s ultimately optimistic... as long as we tackle these threats head-on. Spread the word! That is the first step towards securing our collective future.

Love it but if you have PTSD beware   (3/5)

The sound effects are LOUD and really startling. I honestly got scared someone was shooting while listening at work :(

Mind blown   (5/5)

Joshhhhhhh you are killin the game. Keep it up my guy.

Great! More like a well done audiobook!   (5/5)

It’s apparent that a lot of effort went into the production. If you’re going to have sometime to spend, this is a good series to binge listen since it is produced more like and audio book rather than a discussion or traditional show. I really appreciate how the episodes flow into one another without a grandiose introduction/opening. You can just listen without feeling the program is being cut up into little bits to extend the out the run time for more commercials.

This might be the very best podcast I’ve ever heard.   (5/5)

I think about these topics all the time. I just discovered this podcast today. It is so well researched and asks the biggest and most important questions. Thank you for making it!

Awesome   (5/5)

The millennial Carl Sagan. Way to go. This is solid and makes me excited to see what else josh puts out in the coming years.

I’m floored.   (5/5)

I’m not one for writing reviews, but after listening to almost every episode in one day I felt I had to for this podcast. Well written, narrated, and produced, Josh and his team have created a real work of art with this series. Don’t skip the epilogue.

Please listen to this - and act!   (5/5)

Awesome podcast, one of the best I have listened to in years.

LOVE it. Bravo Josh!   (5/5)

This podcast is mind-bending, profound, scary (in an exciting way) and very entertaining. Josh articulates the concepts so eloquently, as is his style. It has kept me thinking long after initially binging all the episodes. I plan to listen to the whole thing again. THANK YOU!!

Depressing and leans heavily on far fetched massive leap assumptions   (2/5)

I am a die hard SYSK fan. So of course I will give anything Josh and Chuck do a try. Sadly, and in contrast to thousands of other fans, I thought this series was a miss for Josh. The concept is one we’ve all pondered, but I felt that Josh went too quickly down the rabbit hole of crazy — “if you believe this, and that, and this other far fetched idea, and ignore all of the other more plausible explanations” you land in the game simulation argument. I think it would have been better if Josh had interview a much wider group of scientists theologians, and philosophers than a single philosopher (the primary outsider speaking throughout the series) on the bleeding edge of crazy. And, in thinking through the many arguments Josh laid out to get to the simulation argument, it seems 10x more likely and believable that we are alone in the universe and were created by a divine deity like God than that we are simply a simulation controlled by aliens we can’t detect, live in the vast cold edges of the universe trillions of light years away, yet are somehow watching us. Yet josh chose not to explore or acknowledge this in this series to explain why we are here and if we are alone in the universe.

Three thumbs up   (5/5)

Awesome Podcast. Thanks Josh.

Yesssss   (5/5)

Thank you, Josh Clark! This podcast is exactly what I’ve been looking for: an intelligent, imaginative, articulate exploration of hypothetical cosmic questions. Plus, the podcast is well produced, with subtle, perfectly chosen audio clips—and Josh has a calm, interesting voice I could listen to all day. I’m glad I live on the same planet as he does, and at the same time. What are the chances?

Loved it!!!   (5/5)

I absolutely loved this podcast, I couldn't stop listening. Its very informative while being inspiring and deeply thought provoking.

A binge worthy spiral into existential demise   (5/5)

I managed to get through this in just over 24 hours. It truly changed the way I look at the world. Josh Clark’s narration was riveting and the story compelling. This is a must listen for anyone looking to truly understand the world and future that we will live in.

Perfect   (5/5)

Highest quality Podcast I have ever listen to.

Fascinating!   (5/5)

Josh! That was amazing! I’ve been a long time SYSK (podcast and tv show), Don’t be Dumb fan. This series was riveting. You hit on concepts and ideas that made my brain melt a little, but followed up immediately with great examples and explanations that were easily understood. Keep up the great work!

Intelligent Life   (5/5)

I haven't listened to a single episode but I'm going to give you 5 stars anyway. I just read the summary of the podcast. It stated that if we don't survive then intelligent life dies with us. I would argue that if we were that intelligent, we wouldn't have died. We would have found a way to survive. Assuming of course the reason isn't some catastrophic event that destroyed the whole earth. And in that case, if we all die and there's no one around to acknowledge the event.... did we even exist? - 01/08/19

Josh Clark for the win   (5/5)

This podcast rocks. Long time listener of stuff you should know. And now I’m addicted to this podcast. Well done sir, well done.

Not a scientist!   (5/5)

As someone who is not a scientist and doesn’t listen to this kind of stuff often, it was extremely thought provoking and grounding. What might seem like a bunch of anxiety-inducing topics left me feeling informed and hopeful for our future. Thanks for the great listen!

STUFC YOU SHOULD LISTEN TO...   (5/5)

Great job. Great listen. Josh Kills it

Down a rabbit hole   (5/5)

My brain hurt after hearing this one. One rabbit hole after another. Just amazing.

Just amazingly thought provoking!   (5/5)

I never ever write reviews for anything - can’t be bothered, really - but I must make an exception for this podcast. Our place in the universe, and just what that means, has been heavily on my mind recently for some reason and Josh really brought up a lot of topics that I did not know or had considered. Fascinating to think about - are we alone? Unfortunately, the ads are incredibly distracting but I just forward through them - sorry advertisers!

Very entertaining   (5/5)

I love how you put this together, I feel like I'm listening to the best audio book that was never written. If this is a profit driven podcast turn this into a book asap. Even tho I listened to the podcast I'd buy one because of how well it's put together. Very good work and I look forward to other things you create.

Extraordinarily fascinating!   (5/5)

I’m not really a science guy, I’m actually a missionary and I found this very thought provoking and easy to follow. Josh Clark has a gift at keeping his audience in engaged. Looking forward to more insights from his and other scientific minds!

Great!   (5/5)

Don’t listen if you abhor thought. It will be provoked.

Required listening for humanity.   (5/5)

This is the second time I’ve left a review for a podcast. I’ve always listened to stuff you should know...coz it’s great. So I knew Josh’s show would be good. But it’s better than good. Josh is a philosopher. A must listen.

We are screwed   (5/5)

Loved it! I learned a ton.

Fantastic   (5/5)

Loved it! And love the hosts voice.

Don't be dumb   (5/5)

Listen to this podcast. Topics that sometimes science and physics don't even know how to answer are easily explained in this great listen. We don't know what will happen when the world ends but through science and physics we know how it might.

Required listening   (5/5)

As usual, Josh delivers a thoughtful, well-researched presentation, on the themes that really need to be discussed right now. Thanks for all your hard work Josh!

Global Domination, wow   (1/5)

We should create a world body to regulate existential risk. A new world order with total power. What could go wrong?

Fabulous   (5/5)

A little scary, a bit unnerving but super entertaining and informative!!

Unbelievable, Great!   (5/5)

Hours and hours of some of the most interesting difficulties facing mankind. Bravo JC!

Thoughtfully researched and clearly presented.   (5/5)

I can’t recommend this enough. I learned a lot. Great job Josh.

Major assumptions I’m first episode   (3/5)

Regarding Fermi’s paradox... why assume earth would be a prime destination if other intelligent life could travel to the potential trillions of Goldilocks civilizations, perhaps as advanced or more advanced as ours. One destination out of trillions of potentials not visited hardly proves no other civilizations.

Made me cry!   (5/5)

So good. <3

Hauntingly beautiful   (5/5)

This podcast is thoughtfully created and mind-opening. Listening to Josh Clark EOW was an amazing experience.

Incredible podcast   (5/5)

Truly expanded my perspective on the existential risks humanity faces in the coming years. Incredibly well researched and explained, a must listen!

So good   (5/5)

This is the best piece of media I have consumed; podcast, book, movie, in quite a while. I love the science and philosophy explained so clearly without being too dumbed down.

Answered so many questions I’ve always wondered about!   (5/5)

Josh has done a perfect job on this podcast. Every episode was fun and compelling at the same time. After listening to this podcast I have definitely taken a different view of life in general and my place in it. Nice job Josh!!!! A+++++

Absolutely amazing show   (5/5)

Just listen to it

Awesome!   (5/5)

Podcast is very In-depth yet broken down in Laymans terms. Just finished hearing first episode and looking forward to the rest!

Thought Provoking   (5/5)

I’ve never gone out of my way to review a podcast before but thoroughly enjoyed this series - so much so that I listened to it a second time after convincing my husband he’d enjoy it too. Great work Josh!

Spoiler alert: human beings are humanity’s worst enemy.   (5/5)

An excellent investigation of the smart and not-so-smart out ways Homo sapiens sapiens might suicide ourselves!

Merry Christmas!   (5/5)

For Christmas, I’m gifting all my favorite podcasts a 5 star review! Thank you for having a great podcast and keeping me company all year! Keep up the good work! 💛

Fun listen and interesting yet circular perspective   (4/5)

No matter what your viewpoint is you end up in the same place. This life is your life in a bubble or for real but either is your reality.

Inspiring   (5/5)

Great show that dived deep into existential questions. The scope of discussions truly affected my perspective of the world and universe

Thanks for producing this show   (5/5)

It’s changed how I view the world. Thank you Josh for the hard work and insights!

Simply mind blowing   (5/5)

Incredible wish there was more, hopefully in the next simulation

Excellent work!   (5/5)

What an interesting and thought provoking series!

Blah   (1/5)

Has nothing with what we can do to save the world ... we are screwed either way.. money and power makes the world go round and most likely be the reason to end it ...

Excellent   (5/5)

This podcast is top notch! Josh clearly did a ton of research and spent a lot of time crafting these episodes. Each episode presents some critically important ideas to the continued existence of our species. Although these ideas may be frightening, they’re presented in a levelheaded and interesting way. Definitely a podcast that I will listen to a second time.

Simply Amazing !   (5/5)

With his velvety buttery smooth voice, Josh has covered both scientific and technical topics beautifully and have made them fun and easy to understand. He has made those so easily understandable that you will end up enjoying and getting thrilled more and more with every episode. He has transformed boring science topics to informative yet thrilling science fiction style content. Amazing work Josh !

Fascinating   (5/5)

Love it. Josh is a great story-teller. This podcast is way more complex than SYSK, but excellent in its own way. It is clearly well written, researched, and produced. Excellent use of outside voices. Concentrate and listen— you won’t regret it!

Grow your brain   (5/5)

Listen and learn! It’s an intro to Nick Bostrom’s work for normal people. It’s a call to action for each of us to look up and out a bit further, at all the possibilities. Realize your importance to the future of humanity! This podcast is just Einstein caring about us little earthworms. Or maybe it’s just a simulation. Either way, it’s worth the time.

Brilliant   (5/5)

Thought Provoking.

Open your mind   (5/5)

We simply need more of what josh has to say, regardless. Amazing stuff.

The best   (5/5)

Best new podcast series from one of the best and smartest in the biz. I hope you publish the script in book form, Josh! So mentally stimulating and though provoking. Thank you for this great series.

Fantastic   (5/5)

I love how stuff works but Josh takes it to a new level well done! Hard to believe this is the same guy who thought we should all flood our lawns with 4 inches of water. Just kidding. Very impressive very Informative and very entertaining.

Wow   (5/5)

This podcast just blows my mind. It is so rich in detail and very enlightening. So many topics I’ve never thought of and the researched so well and explained in laymen’s terms. This series has stuck with me so far and I don’t think I’ll ever forget it. Thank you for making it and for all those considering it please listen immediately!

My Mind Exploded   (5/5)

Enriching, enlightening, and thought provoking. I enjoyed every minute and hope to see more podcasts like this in the future!

Awesome   (5/5)

I have been listening to podcasts for many years now and I think this is the best one yet. Your information and delivery is amazing. The audio quality is outstanding. Everyone should give this a listen if they can.

THANK YOU JOSH!   (5/5)

Josh Clark is an amazing science communicator. Seriously; no smoke being blown here! The End of the World ties together so many concepts that the general public is aware of but doesn’t really understand. I WAS one of those people but thanks to this show I feel so much more informed (AND entertained). I really hope more people listen to this show and not just those interested in science, but everyone because these topics concern us all. Thank you Josh for all the hard work and for wrapping all the topics up in a neat bow. The End of the World has given me a lot to chew on and warrants multiple listens. So here I go for round 2!

Amazing   (5/5)

Loved everything about this podcast, pretty much binged it in a day other then an episode or two

Great podcast on a under covered topic   (5/5)

Great subject matter that is often ignored covering life in the universe and the risk to it. Important to understanding the role of human life in the universe

Great! BUT...   (5/5)

...please please please do not begin your episodes with ads. I’d rather hear you from the outset! ❤️

Perfect   (5/5)

Josh Clark’s strengths as a podcaster are in full force with this series, making it an incredibly worthwhile listen. Every episode flows beautifully thanks to Josh’s impeccable writing and the ominous soundtrack that punctuates his words. If you’re like me and don’t know a lot about the many topics covered in the series, Josh thoughtfully carries you through each idea. On the other hand, even if you know most of the information, everything is so perfectly sequenced that you are bound to form new connections. Thank you, Josh, for this work of art. I look forward to your next project, that is, if we still exist.

Simply mind-blowing   (5/5)

This is a must listen podcast if you have any interest in where our world came from and where it is headed. Is our future inevitable? This will almost certainly stir more questions in your head than answers. Great work Josh!!

Great job   (5/5)

This was so much interesting and well told the production of it is great too. I liked him from SYSK but this seems like a passion project and it really can through. Congrats and well done. Hope to see more like it from him

Amazing   (5/5)

I’m sad I finished the season. Thank you for the work you out into making this. Turkey amazing.

Umm not sure from title   (5/5)

Josh, you have q gift of story telling and your extensive diggin in! Was really apprehensive about listening to the end of the world! I shy away from it for gloom and doom but YOU MADE ME UNDERSTAND! Nice job my dear! Kimmy 😁

Fairly comprehensive   (4/5)

This podcast does a pretty thorough exploration of potential existential risks to our species. Josh Clarke is a lot more enjoyable without that clown of a cohost on "Stuff You Should Know".

Fascinating   (5/5)

This is an incredible listen. Thanks, Josh, for taking my mind to new places. Please make more thought provoking podcasts.

Extremely well researched and well written   (5/5)

Highly recommend!

Highly recommended!   (5/5)

I was instantly hooked after the first few moments of the first episode. I sped through the episodes in 5 days and loved every minute of it. The show is incredibly well researched and I can't stop thinking about the possibilities and pitfalls that lay before us. I love this podcast series.

I want to give this more than 5 stars!   (5/5)

Fascinating and spooky and overall mind-blowing. Josh explains really complex topics in a way that I can begin to understand. I’m sure I’ll need to listen again to feel confident enough to discuss some of these concepts with other people, but I’m okay with that because it’s been so enjoyable to listen to! So, so well done! Great work, Josh!

Brilliant.   (5/5)

This is just brilliant podcasting. As always Josh is very knowledgeable and entertaining. The score is great, the production value is amazing and the content is thought provoking. Well done Josh!

This is very important stuff   (5/5)

As Laurence Peters once said about the atomic bomb, I hope the subject will never be dropped!

Favorite podcast yet   (5/5)

Josh! This is scary! In the best way.

Wow   (5/5)

Mind=Blown

Fascinating   (5/5)

So so so so cool!!

Great except for climate change propaganda   (3/5)

Man made climate change lies are a myth and scam perpetrated by the likes of al gore. Shouldn’t New York be under water by now ? Lol

A Service to Human Kind   (5/5)

Amazing and incredible. I listened to the series twice and it is a gift to all of us. Not sure if a podcast are eligible to receive a Peabody, but this deserves it. Josh Clark has potentially saved us all, and all to come.

Feed your inner dork   (5/5)

This has so far been my most anticipated podcast! Each week I could not wait to listen and was so sad to finish... so thought provoking and well done. Great job!

Great podcast!   (5/5)

What if dark matter is the part of the universe that isn’t simulated, and that’s why we can’t detect it

This was excellent   (5/5)

Truly fascinating, thought provoking and maybe just a little terrifying! There aren’t many podcast that I will definitely listen to again.

Amazing   (5/5)

If you ask/ think about the big questions then you will love this podcast. Josh Clark is easy to follow and listen to(especially during a long commute). A+++++ 10/10 would recommend

Dark and bleakly hopeful.   (5/5)

A mesmerizing trip through the unfathomable risks inherent in our current times’ activities and technologies. A must-listen.

Listening back to back   (5/5)

Been astounded by how entertained I’ve been. Simple concept done amazingly well. Good for you

Wow. 👍🏻   (5/5)

This podcast was instantly addictive for both me & my husband. Every episode is filled with so much information; I’ve listened to most of episodes multiple times just to make sure I absorb it all. This was a take on the Earth’s place in the universe from a point of view I’ve really never seen it from before. Thank you for the top quality content.

Wow   (5/5)

Outstanding. Very well explained and flows nicely.

Great recommendation for an AI listener   (5/5)

Really enjoyed this. Made me think about a lot especially with a young family. And interesting enough that a lot of the sci-fi I read is based on science we are thinking about today. In all, great work. I appreciate it. And yes. The gen pop need to start voting in leaders that are at least concerned / aware of the risks out there.

Fascinating!   (5/5)

Huge fan of Stuff You Should Know. When I first heard of this, I was skeptical about how dark it would be, not wanting to get myself further bogged down in lack of hope for the universe. But Josh, though more serious here, keeps it entertaining and interesting. These are things I never would have thought about, and it expanded my curiosity and thoughts about the world and our place in it. Definitely at least give it a try!

The best   (5/5)

Love you josh

Loved every minute of this podcast!!!   (5/5)

I have never left a review for a podcast but felt compelled to leave one for this well put together and informative podcast, 100 thumbs up to Josh Clark!!

Didn’t know what to expect - turns out to be thrilling   (5/5)

Hearing Josh talk about space and survival after asteroids, it felt like I was at a movie watching it. Very captivating ideas. It’s the kind of podcast that you stop everything else you’re doing to listen to it.

Required Listening   (5/5)

By far one of the best podcast series I’ve ever listened to. Liked it so much I’ve listened twice and will definitely do so again. Very thought provoking and timely. I wish it was required content for every high school student prior to graduation. Thank you - made me equal parts sad (crushed actually), stunned, outraged and hopeful. You truly rock the podcast Josh.

Wow   (5/5)

Best podcast since season 1 of Serial. Josh hit it out of the park.

Life changing   (5/5)

Josh I hope this series becomes the ‘Silent Spring’ of existential risk. The world needs to talk about this starting yesterday, and this series accomplishes exactly that. Phenomenal series

Scary topic. Fantastic podcast.   (5/5)

I just finished the tenth episode, and find it strange how sad I am to be ending a podcast about all the terrifying things that might wipe humanity out of existence. Josh Clark is incredibly thoughtful throughout the process—from researching a topic that deserves more attention, to explaining quantum mechanics in a way that both experts and lay persons can understand. I look forward to Mr. Clark’s next project and anticipate more great work in his bright future (if humanity is still around).

so captivating   (5/5)

I love Josh’s work. sincerely, another Josh

A must listen   (5/5)

Josh does a great job of making complex topics very digestible.

Blown away   (5/5)

This series was amazing Josh! I did not want it to end. This is a discussion that is really important right now and I commend you for all you and all involved have done to put this together.

Louder   (5/5)

Can you please speak a little louder

Perfect balance   (5/5)

Great job Josh! I felt like there was a very fine balancing act of doom and hope. I learned a lot. As a microbiologist the biotech episode really resonated with me. I see exactly what you talked about every day and also have my concerns. Especially with zoonotic pathogens. Thanks for the awesome series! Now to catch up on SYSK!

Amazing   (5/5)

Josh knocked it out of the park on this one. Absolutely worth the listen 👍

Incredible!   (5/5)

Highly entertaining while being profoundly educational, hopeful and slightly terrifying. Thanks so much for this great work.

The Gold Standard for Audio   (5/5)

The content, the delivery, the score, the warm blanket that is Josh Clark. I’m a prolific listener to Podcasts (SYSK!) and Audiobooks and am so grateful audio has come into it’s own over the last decade. This podcast is not just fascinating and engaging (I was checking for new episodes every day). The production value is great and maybe under appreciated too. Even brilliant books can seem monotonous and bloated when converted to audio. Many podcasts feel kitschy and the content cursory. Josh’s experience and talents have kinda brought the two together for a very rewarding experience. I hope he’s already working on another project!

Go deep, deep   (5/5)

Mandatory listening for the internet

Awesome   (5/5)

An excellent podcast. Everything Josh had spoken about really hits you hard. It is time for humanity to wake up and realize that we do not have as much time as we think we have. And he’s right in the end when he said it may not be our species to finally figure out how to survive through the great filter. I weep for mankind right now.

Great!!   (5/5)

Well done podcast.

Everyone should give this series a listen.   (5/5)

This show is both terrifying and the most amazing series I’ve listened to. This is definitely my most recommended must listen to. Thank you for the great series.

This is what you want in a podcast.   (5/5)

Skip the witty banter and give me that good existential dread. What a time to be alive! And almost dead. THANK YOU!

Thank you, Josh!   (5/5)

One of the most entertaining and informative things I’ve put through my ear holes and into my brain. I want more!

Must Listen   (5/5)

I LOVED every single episode of this thought provoking podcast. I re listened all of them since they were each so jam packed with information. Very well done, very informative and entertaining.

Everyone needs to watch this   (5/5)

Very informative. This should be in the media more.

Just great.   (5/5)

Easily my favorite podcast now, maybe of all time. Josh examines a range of thought provoking topics in an easy-to-follow way. I can’t recommend this podcast highly enough.

Just outstanding   (5/5)

Important, fascinating, terrifying, inspiring, easily digestible, well researched, well made I’m recommending this to everyone I know

Excellent   (5/5)

This podcast contains very important information and presents situations that everyone alive today should consider. Very thought provoking and beautifully done. Thank you Josh for this podcast.

One of the best podcasts out there!   (5/5)

Everything about this podcast—from Josh’s calming voice and speech pattern juxtaposed with the very serious and urgent information he’s presenting, and the sound effects that make every episode so immersive you forget you’re listening to a podcast—is what makes this the kind of thing you could listen to over and over again. The only thing I would change is the ad breaks, they kinda jolt you out of the zone Josh just put you in, but he’s very good at bringing you right back. Easily my favorite podcast of all time! Everybody should listen.

Brilliant   (5/5)

Thought provoking. A masterful must-listen.

Phenomenal   (5/5)

I’ve been a fan of Josh Clark for a few years now. He has made me laugh along with Chuck Bryant while discussing topics big and small on Stuff You Should Know. I just finished listening to The End of the World. This series is beautifully crafted and informative. I will need to have a second listen to absorb all of the information Josh has laid out there. Special shout out to the musical staff on this project! Great job, Josh. Thank you for sharing.

I didn’t want this to end...   (5/5)

...best pod I’ve listened to this far. Thanks!

Amazing   (5/5)

One of the best podcasts I have ever listened to. Absolute masterpiece.

Required listening for the 21st century   (5/5)

I’m telling everyone I know to listen to this podcast. Revelatory, interesting, and hopeful forecasting . This podcasts presents everything I’ve ever been curious about from the depths of the universe, existential risks, black holes, aliens, the hadron collider, etc in an easily digestible format. Love this podcast! Do yourself and humanity a favor and start listening ! Total brain porn

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED   (5/5)

Love this podcast. The research is thorough and perfectly presented giving background, current situation, and possible outcomes. Not dry but explained with passion by someone who feels like your really smart friend. Well done.

Love this podcast!!!   (5/5)

I was pretty sure I wasn’t going to like his one but since it was Josh I decided to give it a try. I was so wrong! I listened to most episodes in one day. Loved it. Even though he talks about how we all might die I left it feeling more hopeful about the fate of humans than I have in a long time. Thank you, Josh!

Highly recommend   (5/5)

This is a very well produced podcast. The episodes are organized quite well, Josh even inserts subtle humor into what is otherwise very heavy subject matter. The interviews are fascinating, the flow of each episode is excellent—I’m just going to be really sad when it’s all over (the podcast, not the universe 😉)!

🤤   (5/5)

I’m now convinced of 2 things. First- we indeed have more power than wisdom, people are terribly myopic and if we kill ourselves, we deserve it. Secondly- god is real, and he is a physicist from another dimension.

Over it   (2/5)

Great till episode 8. And that one great till second half.

Enthralling and Fascinating   (5/5)

I love Josh’s work on SYSK, and I was thrilled to see that he got his own podcast. I have not been disappointed - Josh seems truly invested in each episode’s topic, and I find myself engaged and interested. Well done!

Manifique!   (5/5)

Listening to Josh Clark’s comforting voice as he discusses various existential crises makes the end of the world...ironically palatable.

When is the next one out? Cause I can’t wait!   (5/5)

This is an amazing podcast! I am a huge fan of SYSK and I’m so in love with this series. Well done, Josh!

The best yet   (5/5)

I’ve been listening to Josh and Chuck pal around for 10+ years. It is so much fun to hear this solo project and to listen to something Josh is clearly passionate about. Thanks for the effort and care you obviously poured into this series!

From SYSK to EOTW   (5/5)

I began listening to this podcast because of Josh’s other podcast, Stuff You Should Know. I have been so happily enjoying what I found. Originally, I did not know about a podcast without the same format where Josh has shown himself to shine. Now, it is evident that Josh has research and presentation mastery across multiple media. As a professional anthropologist who researches disasters for a living, I found the podcast to be quite timely and professionally done. Bravo.

Just Incase   (5/5)

Just Incase there’s not a tomorrow - Josh, I appreciate you. I am smarter and funnier because of your influence.

Want to love it...   (4/5)

Excellent subject and Josh is always great, but I can’t get through the first episode. The background sound effects and noises are driving me insane. Hoping the following episodes are better.

Love it but it’s intense   (5/5)

This is very interesting but it’s definitely not a casual listen. Kind of scary, honestly!

Incredibly good!   (5/5)

Literally my #1 favorite podcast of the year. That’s really saying something too I’ve listened to Quite a few! Go Josh!

Interesting podcast!   (5/5)

Well researched, interesting, and thought provoking. Well done Josh!

Incredible work   (5/5)

Production value - top notch. Information - mind blown. Josh's dulcet vocal tones - eargasmic. I swear I can feel my brain growing with each passing minute.

Best podcast   (5/5)

Really brilliant podcast. Not a fan of doomsday scenarios but this podcast has lots of details about the science involved.

Nerding hard   (5/5)

Josh has clearly done a ton of research and his writing is lovely. But the best part of the podcast is how much I think about it when I’m not listening to it. Its interesting and fun and slightly terrifying.

So terrifying....   (5/5)

Yet so so good. Great work!

AMAZING   (5/5)

The best podcast I’ve listened to thus far. WARNING: Do not listen to this podcast within an hour of going to sleep unless you are prepared to lay there awake pondering all of life’s questions...

Fascinating   (5/5)

Intriguing, beautiful, and troubling all at once..... And if that isn’t enough, the music is amazing....... Highly recommended.....

Addicting, smart, thought provoking!   (5/5)

This is a must listen! This podcast will open your mind and make you think.

That was amazing   (5/5)

I binge-listened and it’s all gone already. I’ll have to start over from the beginning. More, please.

Favorite podcast ever   (5/5)

This is by far the most interesting, thought-provoking podcast I have ever listened to. Josh does a great job thoroughly explaining the various topics and there aren’t any obnoxiously loud commercials (huge bonus!). Can’t recommend this one enough!

Love it!   (5/5)

This pod is a must listen. Now that I am caught up I cannot wait for more episodes. Extremely thought provoking.

Got over myself   (5/5)

It took me a while to listen to this podcast, given the morbid topic. When I did listen, however, I was presented with a well thought and persuasive argument on a difficult topic, that was not as morose as I imagined. I've recommended this podcast to whoever would be receptive, and would recommend YOU, listener, to listen as well. Side note: I am an avid How Stuff Works listener, and put this podcast in my top three of the new podcast initiative. Well done Josh!

Love Everything About This   (5/5)

This podcast is astounding. I love every episode. It presents complex scientific concepts in easy to understand ways and really digs in and makes you think about humanity, earth, and what could and will happen. I can’t wait for the rest of the episodes. Thank you Josh!

Captivating   (5/5)

The writing and delivery on this show is a step above. Well done Josh!

Great work Josh!   (5/5)

Great podcast.

Amazing work by Josh!   (5/5)

I’ve been a longtime listener of Stuff You Should Know, and stumbled across this podcast. It is incredible! Josh really gets you thinking in this one, and the score is incredible. Highly recommend!

Awesome podcast!   (5/5)

Another win for Josh! Love the existential discussion!

Good work Josh   (5/5)

I’m a long time fan of SYSK, been listening to Josh for a while. This is some of his best work

Absolutely masterful   (5/5)

Josh Clark firing on all cylinders. Well researched, understandable, entertaining analogies, beautiful audio production, and by a super awesome, likable nerd.

Outstanding....as always.   (5/5)

Thanks you so so much for this Josh. I’m a relative newcomer to podcasts but SYSK is by far one of my favorites (...perhaps tied with Crimetown by Gimlet). The End Of The World continues in the same vain, thoroughly researched, impeccably delivered, kind, funny and accessible. You are just the best man!

An amazing podcast.   (5/5)

This is a calming podcast that is perfect for a long night drive as you contemplate the end of humanity and what can be done to save it. I love it and it is unusually calming even though Josh is discussing the end of humanity.

An existential roller coaster!   (5/5)

Josh Clark is the ride operator on this roller coaster of existential risk. He sends you clicking up the track, telling you about all the different ways these risks can end humanity. Just when you don’t think you can take it anymore, he sends you careening, screaming, down the other side to relative safety by telling you how we can avoid these risks. But don’t forget there is a lot of ups and downs in this existential coaster. What a ride!

Top Notch   (5/5)

Don’t know what he’s talking about half the time (OK, more like 90% of the time), but it’s eerie and mind-bending and I love it. Thanks Josh!

Highly entertaining!   (5/5)

Just started listening to this podcast. I was instantly hooked. I can’t wait for the drive home to listen to an episode.

Josh Clark hits one out of the park. Love this.   (5/5)

I honestly was a little skeptical that Josh could tackle such a grave and serious type of topic with seriousness. I've gotten used to his comic attitude on SYSK which I've listened to for years. Well, fears entirely unfounded because Josh plays the role of doomsayer (doom educator?) masterfully. This podcast is a little bit scary, just like it should be. Very engrossing. I'm glad to see Josh pushing his boundaries and trying new genres.

Solid   (5/5)

Great, subtle but simple production, comprehensive and love josh’s narration.

Another good one from Josh Clark   (5/5)

A bit more serious than Stuff, but really well presented and unfailingly fascinating.

Superb   (5/5)

This has to be one of the best podcasts of the year. It is the best I’ve listened to in 2018 unquestionably.

Best podcast.   (5/5)

I like podcasts in general, some more some less. This is the only podcast I love. It's a must listen for all geeks out there. Thanks a lot Josh!

Thanks for me smarter!   (5/5)

This series is invaluable with the amount of knowledge Josh imparts upon us. His delivery is superb and the sound design is a great addition. I can’t wait to for each episode, they’re frightening and enlightening, one of my favorite combos of learning.

Spellbinding!   (5/5)

This podcast, hosted by Stuff You Should Know host Josh Clark, is an amazing look at some of the serious stuff the human race is facing as we potentially face our own extinction. This is a more serious Josh than SYSK fans are used to hearing, and I, for one, absolutely love it!

Too interesting.   (5/5)

In retrospect, it makes perfect sense. Josh Clark is a damned fine science communicator. Bravo, my man! Keep it coming.

Gorgeously Rendered Sonic Theatre   (5/5)

Josh, you have engrossed me once again. The theories and research are compelling and thought provoking. Thank you for this series.

Amazing   (5/5)

Josh nailed it again. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Incredible   (5/5)

I love Stuff You Should Know, the witty banter and asides between Josh and Chuck. This is not that. It is sober and alarming. It is informative and terrifying. Everyone should listen to this podcast and add a little perspective to their lives. Very nice Josh and Co!

Great Thought Provoking Podcast!   (5/5)

This podcast has made me think about the world in a new way and think about way the world could come to an end with a lot of clarity. I am not sure how the podcast will end yet, but so far it has gone from speculative yet very educational to pointing out specific world events where honestly we have just been very very lucky that humanity is still around at all! I look forward to listening through to the end (no pun intended).

Try not to think about this content all week...   (5/5)

I dare you. Once you hear the risky stuff coming down the line, once your peepers peep into space and our nothingness in it, you won’t be able to unsee it. Won’t be able to unthink it. This podcast is accessible to non-scientists who can grasp the important cogs that turn the past and future. So what does it all mean? Be as good as you can, while you can, keep your head up and your eyes open. We all have very little time here, and our posterity, possibly less. My biggest takeaway here, though, is that all life is precious and the fact that life exists at all on earth is a miracle.

awesome   (5/5)

a great listen

I want to love your podcast, however   (3/5)

I don’t think it’s fair to say there is not one shred of evidence that alien life exists. Even if you’re not ‘a believer,’ I want you to at least engage UFO sightings, the probability of government cover-ups, etc., in the conversation. The show proceeds as if none of this has ever even been considered, much less experienced. You are leaving out a huge chunk of material, research, thought, and debate. I don’t understand why!

Worth every minute   (5/5)

What a great, thoughtful, and thought provoking listen.

Alll by myselfffff   (4/5)

I like it, it’s like your science teacher getting sidetracked and talking all period. So to break it up it’s nice to have little snippets of other people talking, a guest would be cool. Reallllly Missing the humor, don’t be afraid to make people laugh just because your alone. I know the topic isn’t a laughing matter, but that hasn’t stopped you in the past. It’s good and important information, I imagine in the future my kids will be assigned to listen to podcasts in school - it’s a great way of learning.

So Good...   (5/5)

I hope the world doesn’t end before the next episode comes out. I hope Josh makes more similar series!

Fascinating podcast!   (5/5)

I’m excited to hear each episode. Great work Josh! Terrifying but accurate information.

Great series on Fermi Paradox and great filters   (5/5)

I’m thoroughly enjoying this podcast! Josh provides well-researched descriptions of the Fermi Paradox and various explanations including several possible “great filters.”

How are we all not dead yet?   (5/5)

Unless we already are.

Awesome   (5/5)

If you are into exploring the universe this is for you!

Pushes your mind to the far corners of thought!   (5/5)

I have been a fan of Josh’s work on his other podcast. This one pushes my mind beyond just learning about new things in our world. I have walked away at the end of every show contemplating the far reaching elements that make up our universe. Thank you Josh! We need more podcasts like this one so people can realize how beautiful and fragile life really is! Keep it up my friend!

A stunning display of mind boggling info   (5/5)

Personally, and this might seem selfish, but one of the most important aspects of this amazing podcast for me is its (quite ironically) relieving effect. I find that I am constantly (probably like many of us) worrying and stressing about my own personal problems, and this podcast helps me realize that they really aren’t that problematic. Not only is this podcast incredibly eye opening, but it has also helped navigate my world with a lot less stress. So thx josh, you are my favorite host!!!

Literally fell asleep   (2/5)

Josh Clark takes some of the most interesting information and ideas you could imagine and paints them a dead dull monotonous gray with his droning, passionless delivery. A voice actor, or better yet, an actual scientist who is passionate and invested in these theories, would have made a much better narrator. I tried to listen to this on a road trip and was asleep by episode 3.

Incredibly well done   (5/5)

I have been a fan of SYSK for many years, always impressed with Josh and Chuck’s skill in presenting reliably accurate and interesting information on any number of topics. For reasons (felt disloyal to SYSK, unsure how interesting it would be without Chuck) that are ridiculous I hesitated to even give it a chance until 3 episodes in. I am very pleased that I tuned in because Josh delivers...extremely fascinating material, well researched and written, great delivery as usual and though it is a solo presentation, I have been spellbound with each episode. Scary and fascinating stuff. Also uniquely conceived. I highly recommended to other podcast enthusiasts.

Literally the best   (5/5)

I love this podcast, I can’t stop listening to it. Josh Clark is one of the smartest people I’ve ever met, partially because he can talk about such complex things in a way I can understand. Amazing work, Josh. I look forward to the next episode 🥰

Great show!   (5/5)

Not as sensationalist as the name might indicate. This well thought out philosophical, and thought provoking dive in to extinction manages to navigate a line between thrilling, relaxing, terrifying and reassuring. Few hosts could do this. Hats off.

Josh Clark is a Baller (a podcast baller)   (5/5)

Thanks for another one. Josh Clark is a legend.

top quality   (5/5)

major sysk fan but this is a super special series. I'm only two episodes in but it's super well done. I'm sure I'll be listening to most episodes more than once.

Captivating   (5/5)

So interesting. Fascinating subject presented brilliantly. It’s really opened my mind to how unusual it is that we seem to be all alone in the uninverse.

Fascinating subject matter!   (5/5)

I have never thought about anything this podcast covers and now it’s all I’ll think about forever. It sticks in your brain and I love it Shoutout to the Richmond Flying Squirrels!

Can’t stop thinking about it...   (5/5)

This is definitely a podcast that will get under your skin, it’s the first podcast that has ever given me a nightmare and I still can’t stay away... it’s not scary but it will keep you up at night.

My new favorite.   (5/5)

This is just great. If you’re a fan of cosmos or pop science, you will love it. Josh Clark knocks it out of the park—thank you!

Amazing!   (5/5)

Josh is my all time favorite podcaster, and this podcast is just another reason he deserves the title of podcast GOAT. I hope when this series is finished he will start another nonfiction series like this on his own

Amazing   (5/5)

I was skeptical and didn’t think this show would be as good as “Stuff You Should Know”. This podcast instantly became one of my favorites. Really thought provoking. Well put together. Good job Josh!

Wonderfully Existential   (5/5)

This is a different albeit just as wonderful Josh from SYSK. His take on humanity and the big picture is so powerful in quite thoughtful and consumable episodes. This is everything great about podcast and modern philosophy.

Amazing.   (5/5)

That’s all that needs to be said.

Excellent!!   (4/5)

Very well done podcast. One less star because the ads are unfortunately sprinkled throughout the podcast, shocking you out of the experience. I pledge to never buy a product that interrupts a podcast. Beginning and end placement is fine.

Thought provoking and well laid out   (5/5)

Extremely thought provoking and well organized content. Nice work, Josh. Another good one.

WOW This is good   (5/5)

I'm listening to all the available episodes again. This whole podcast is blowing my mind

Excellent work   (5/5)

Amazing podcast, bravo!

Insightful take on why we believe in nothing, Lebowski.   (5/5)

Kidding (we’re in it for the money). This podcast is awesome. Research into each episode is thorough and intriguing. I had to spook up the lelling of woth of those bords. Dell wone!

PAY ATTENTION   (5/5)

This is a critically important podcast. Use it as a jump off point for your own investigation, contemplation, and actions in the future.

love at first listen   (5/5)

the information, the way it is presented, the soundscapes, and the production of this podcast are all top notch! a sincere and genuinely beautiful show. where is the merch? take my money already

Mesmerizing   (5/5)

So glad this was made- thanks for such thoughtful research, and for explaining in compelling clear terms the stuff we absolutely need to be thinking and talking about.

Gooder   (5/5)

I have gooder grammar than you

Long time fan   (5/5)

Can’t suggest this enough. I am amazed by the level of content, truly fantastic!

So many “whoas”!   (5/5)

A great balance of educational and entertaining. I’ve been continually amazed (so many “whoas”). I attend lectures about similar topics at California Academy of Sciences when I can and Josh is easily keeping up with the pack of those professionals with obviously extensive research. Also, it’s one of the best produced series I’ve heard! Keep up the great work!

Solid podcast   (4/5)

I’m a big SYSK fan, and so I naturally jumped on this podcast as soon as it came out. Overall it’s a solid show. I felt the first couple episodes were not quite as exciting, but I understand he had to lay a groundwork. But once he got to the “meat” so to speak it has gotten really good. I just finished the episode on A.I. and now I’m scared of my toaster. Looking forward to the rest of the episodes!

Game Changer!   (5/5)

This new podcast from our friend Josh brings the medium to a new level. Stunning!

The best   (5/5)

The best

In a class of its own!   (5/5)

Josh is excellent! This podcast is smart, thought-provoking, well researched, and just stands out as something new and much needed. It’s not a alarmist message, it is a hopeful one. Everyone should listen to this! Bravo Josh!

The podcast you’ve been waiting for   (5/5)

I listen to 30-40 podcasts per week and absolutely LOVE several of them. Somehow, when I started listening to The End Of The World, I felt like this is the podcast I’ve been waiting for. Only about half way through the season I can’t recommend this highly enough. It’s so engaging, so well-produced, and so well-researched that I find myself just sitting in a quiet place to finish whatever episode I’m listening to and get annoyed at things that pull me away from it. Josh’s vocal cadence and delivery combined with carefully curated and brilliantly organized topics about significant thought-provoking topics such as intelligent life in the universe (or a lack thereof), rapidly advancing technologies, and other fascinating topics that are both interesting in that they pose an existential risk to humans, and also that they are utterly mind-blowing to consider make this podcast one of the most stand out podcasts of the history of podcasts. I was reluctant to add yet another podcast to my already saturated queue, but I am so glad I decided to pick up this one. You will almost certainly feel the same.

+1 for “Team Josh”   (5/5)

I was a little bit skeptical when I first heard of this solo venture. I love Josh and Chuck but I always thought that I was a little more on the “Team Chuck” side of the spectrum. I have to admit that I underestimated Josh. I can’t get enough of this podcast. I just got the notification that a new episode was available and I actually stopped working so I could listen to it. Great work Josh! I will never doubt you again.

Snoooze   (1/5)

Not good

Food for the gray noodle   (5/5)

Josh Clark continues to amaze and inform with great sound engineering to back him up. Anyone interested in science and thought provoking material, should give this a listen.

Love it! Listen and learn. Very relaxing   (5/5)

Love this podcast. The tone and feel is very relaxing considering the subject matter, and josh’s performance is humble and intelligent. It Has the usual SYSK quality of research and info but is much more focused. The audio engineering is well done and really adds to the experience. 👍

Fantastic podcast!   (5/5)

Josh this podcast is fantastic! Thanks for the ear joy

Super interesting and entertaining   (5/5)

Josh is a great host and brings so many topics I didn’t know about. The first few episodes are amazing. You learn so much and have fun.

Fantastic   (5/5)

I never thought I could listen to one guy talk for hours and be completely fascinated. Love the structured covering of theories and the threading together of history to think about today.

New favorite   (5/5)

I miss the banter of Josh and Chuck. This one is a bit slower, Josh’s plodding narration can be a bit sleep inducing at times. But the subject matter is by far the most interesting. I’d love an episode where he discusses the book list he reads in preparation for this show.

Great listen   (5/5)

In my opinion this is the best podcast How Stuff Works has ever put out.

Home Run   (5/5)

Great job Josh!! I’ve been a SYSK fan for years and had some hesitation with a solo show. I was wrong! I highly recommend The End Of The World.

Fascinating   (5/5)

This is a delightful combination of familiar and new information presented in a fun, if mildly morbid, way. A must-listen podcast. Thanks, Josh!

Great job Josh   (5/5)

The material is interesting and intriguing without getting too preachy. I can’t wait for more episodes.

Audible pleasure in a warm bath surrounded by candlelight   (5/5)

A modern day Carl Sagan(sorta). Josh is a great researcher and his hard work has shone through clouds of gas and dust through billions and billions of.... Really great work, solid content, and a great delivery from a set of buttery-smooth vocal cords. Wonderful, sir.

Uplifting?   (5/5)

We’re probably so special and unique that we need to stop arguing about the small stuff or die and ruin it for every. I find this somehow uplifting.

Josh Clark!   (5/5)

Great podcast. Josh Clark does such a great job of talking about complex concepts in an entertaining way. Keep it up!

Well done!   (5/5)

This is so well done! I knew it would be clever and well researched, but the level of production surprised me! I look forward to the next episode, if we all make it that long!

AMAZEBALLS!!   (5/5)

This is SO GOOD! I feel like it picks up where Cosmos with Neil DeGrasse Tyson leaves off. It’s PERFECT. Thank you Josh and HSW. I want a hard copy of this. CD, cassette, vinyl, stone tablets. I don’t care. I just want to keep this forever.

LISTEN TO THIS BEAUTIFUL SHOW   (5/5)

I’m honestly not super into gloomy science stuff, but I love Josh’s work on Stuff You Should Know and so I have this a listen and I love it! It is beautifully produced and written, thoroughly researched (this coming from a non-sciency person but whatevs) and surprisingly optimistic. I would recommend this to family and friends and strangers on the subway if I lived in a city with a subway.

So, so good!   (5/5)

Captivating, clear, pleasant to listen to...I love it!

Incredible   (5/5)

I thought I knew a lot about these subjects already but I’ve learned SO much from the first 4 episodes. Josh has always found a way of explaining complex topics and ideas to laymen. Truly incredible job. I love this podcast and can’t wait for the next episode.

Doomed   (5/5)

After listening to this podcast I sold all my belongings and am currently using the funds to build a bunker

This is a good podcast.   (5/5)

You should listen to it.

I gotta take better notes.   (5/5)

Is this going to be on the test?

Sooooo interesting   (5/5)

Josh does a great job of making really huge and distant concepts seem very real and tangible. It doesn’t really even feel like you’re having something explained to you.... more like you’re just discovering it on your own or in a talk with a friend. So so good!

Agreed, definitely must listen   (5/5)

JRE is my favorite podcast but this is a VERY close second including, how stuff works and short stuff too, overall, high quality stuff here just wish they were longer haha

Literally making everyone I know listen to this   (5/5)

Josh is doing an incredible job tackling a podcast that has so much depth and critical thinking alone. Give it a listen!

Bostrom... sigh   (4/5)

Josh does a great job of presenting the information and he definitely has done his research - but there’s so much Bostrom research! The biggest existential party pooper ever. Let’s throw a little Kurzweil in there!

Just superb.   (5/5)

This is simply an excellent podcast. Josh is a natural born teacher. His research skills are top notch, and he presents lofty and numbing material in ways that are approachable and highly entertaining. This could easily be an extremely depressing and crisis-inducing topic. Yet, as I listen to this podcast, I am left reminded of what a wonderful and amazing thing it is to be alive. Life is precious and incredible, and it’s great to be able to say that and feel this way in the age we are living. Not to mention, this is well produced and sonically delightful. Kudos to the entire team responsible for this podcast. Thank you, Mr. Clark.

Wow   (5/5)

Way to go Josh. A beautiful examination of the subject. Love it so far.

Insightful   (5/5)

Such a great podcast so far. Great listen.

Amazing   (5/5)

It’s hard to beat SYSK but Josh did it. This is amazing. The entire experience from the topics to the sound effects are phenomenal. I shouldn’t have started listen right before bed it was hard to wake up in the morning. Could not stop listening! Great work Dr. Clark!!

Wow   (5/5)

I wish I would’ve stumbled upon this podcast when all the episodes were out I’m freaking out waiting for the next episodes! Super grabbing! Great podcast by the great josh clark

perfect for the modern philosopher   (5/5)

Just listened to the first episode, already hooked. Love to stretch my brain out from time to time! Keep them coming Josh Clark!

Super Interesting   (4/5)

Thanks Josh for another entertaining topic!

A perfect podcast for our time   (5/5)

We have all had that moment, thinking of how it will all end. In this time of risk, Josh provides both an escape and a wake up call. He still has his soothing tones from sysk. Only now with an edge, and backed by moody music. He discusses important ideas, fears, and truths that we should all be cognizant of. If you enjoy space, crave learning, believe in our planet, or have a long commute It would be a disservice to yourself and humankind not to listen to this. 11/10

Josh is amazing.   (5/5)

SYSK is my heart, I’m not sure how to put into words how much I love this new podcast, it makes my heart happy, I’ve listened to each episode multiple times, good stuff ❤️

Wonderful & thought provoking   (5/5)

Rivals my love for Stuff You Should Know. Well done Josh... well done (slow clap)

Required listening for curious minds   (5/5)

Josh and team manage to strike just the right balance of fascinating subject matter, edifying detail, humble explanation, smart sound design, plus just enough whimsical flourish. I’m on the edge of my seat to hear more, learn more. Thank you for this series!

I cannot wait for the next ones to come out!!!   (5/5)

Takes you on an amazing path to ponder our existence and potential risks. I cannot wait for the next ones to come out!!!

Great podcast   (5/5)

Love Josh from SYSK and he definitely delivers here with The End of the World. The podcast cohesively combines my love of the cosmos, geology, history, and anthropology. Love it; keep them coming.

Thought Provoking and Important to Hear   (5/5)

Josh, you’re on to something great here. You’ve inspired in me to think more deeply about our current situation, both politically and globally. There is a purpose much bigger than ourselves that we all need to band together around. Can’t thank you enough for re-inspiring me to be existential.

Great Podcast With Josh Clark at the helm   (5/5)

I’ve really enjoy this podcast so far. It gives you a lot to think about without being to heavy.

Where we are in the Great Universe   (5/5)

And well written/presented. Anyone can follow this one. I love all the podcasts provided by Stuff You Should Know but this new one hits the target. Thank you Josh Clark and all you staff. Looking forward to the rest of the episodes!!

Love it!   (5/5)

I’ve been a fan of Josh and Chuck on Stuff You Should Know for 10 years now and I was exited to hear a new podcast from Josh Clark. As I expected it is excellent, thought provoking entertaining and full of great information. A definite must listen!

A Maze Balls   (5/5)

Genuinely fascinating and thought provoking. I’m only on the second episode and I can’t help but think about the universe and our lives a bit differently. Definitely worth listening to.

Great show but pay attention   (5/5)

As always excellent work from Josh Clark. This is a great premise for a show. I did have to listen to some parts repeatedly so make sure your listening when you can give full attention.

Amazing!   (5/5)

The topics covered are so interesting! Really makes you wonder! 5 stars!

Excellent Podcast   (5/5)

Josh Clark is an American Treasure!

I love a gentleman who makes me think   (5/5)

Mr Clark’s thorough research and gentle manner first captured me in “Stuff You Should Know”. These qualities shine even more brightly in this very important series. Humans need to have this knowledge more, perhaps, than any other. Acting on it could literally save our lives. Yet Mr Clark’s warm tone and down to earth manner makes these difficult subjects approachable. Thank you!

An instant favorite, just like a really good book’   (5/5)

The topic, the informationally dense yet simply presented ideas, the perfectly tailored really short intro sound that snaps you right back after spacing out during an ad, the trust and love that has been built up with the years of listening to SYSK, the simply fascinating and thought provoking subjects - everything comes together, making a podcast that pulls you into another world! Also it has been a huge help in distracting me from the harsh, relentless Kona sun that loomed over the bare open coffee field I was working in this weekend 😅 Just awesome! Can’t wait for more episodes!!

Interested in how they do apart: listen   (2/5)

Josh holds his own for the most part. If you can get through the first 25 minutes you’re good. If it wasn’t for the guest audio snips it would be a rough go.

Great!   (5/5)

I am really enjoying this...Thanks Josh!

Amazing...   (5/5)

Like your face! ❤️❤️❤️

I didn’t know what to expect with this podcast   (5/5)

But this is great. I was worried that I wouldn’t like this show, as it’s admittedly weird to hear Josh without Chuck, but it turned out to be one of the better podcasts I’ve listened to lately. If you’re up for a philosophical journey to the depths of outer space, I couldn’t think of a better guide to take you than our own Josh Clark. Buckle in for a fun journey you won’t forget anytime soon.

Fantastic discussion starter ...   (5/5)

A fascinating first episode led to one of the best discussions my family had all year. Definitely following this series. Thanks Josh!

Podcast rocks   (5/5)

Lovely listen. Good sound design

The best thing in podcasts since SYSK   (5/5)

I was slightly weary jumping into this as Josh is amazing in Stuff You Should Know (SYSK) and sometimes solo projects can be a total flop. I’m glad I gave it a chance because it’s incredibly well researched and the topics are fascinating. I find that it’s not a causal listen and I do have to really focus to keep up with the information that’s being presented - but it’s a refreshing change of pace (in so that I have to focus on one thing and not allow myself to attempt to multitask or let my mind wander as I do with other podcasts). I’ve found myself listening to each episode more than once trying to absorb everything that’s being said and think Josh does a great job of delivery! Can’t wait to download the remainder of the series.

The best!   (5/5)

Fantastic! I’ve listened to the first three episodes twice now. I can’t wait for episode 4!

Josh knows stuff   (5/5)

Anything that has this smart, funny guy attached is sure to be gold! 👍

Mind the Bend   (5/5)

If you appreciate the heavy questions of human existence, then this is your jam man. Josh Clark has a mind that is willing to confront questions without answers and does a beautiful job of it.

Great show   (5/5)

Still listening to the first but it’s been a pleasure. Enjoy!

Best. Podcast. Ever.   (5/5)

I didn’t know Josh could get any better than SYSK yet here he is! I love the topic and how it is discussed and hang on every word and wait for every episode. Thanks Josh!

Josh is at his best   (5/5)

This is Josh Clark at his best. His curiosity and passion for this subject is obvious, and it's a joy to listen to. Genuinely fascinating, and suspenseful! Well-researched and thoughtful.

Not as sad as you would think   (5/5)

This is a truly unique podcast. Upon reading the title and the description, you might think it just sounds like a bummer. While some of the content can be depressing, it’s so much more than that. More than bumming you out, it will intensify your appreciation of humanity, while simultaneously exploring questions that everyone has about the universe/existence.

Not sold on Fermi Paradox arguments...   (2/5)

...Josh states the idea that ‘we are alone in the universe’ and this is basis of his arguments in all proceeding podcast episodes. But, throughout episode 1 I continuously thought of holes in josh’s arguments against various Fermi Paradox theories. Bottom line, the universe is too large to describe in a way our brains can truly comprehend. Yet, he continuously uses an argument that it would only take 1 person (alien) from 1 group or civilization to decide to make contact with earth. And since they haven’t, there is no alien life. This is an unexplained assumption that IF other life is out there, it would have colonized the universe and therefore made contact with us. The shear size of our universe makes the chance of alien contact, or ever observation from a far, a near impossibility.

Keep em coming   (5/5)

Great dude asking great questions.

Love this podcast.   (5/5)

This podcast is very interesting, and gets me thinking about things I never would have.

Beautiful humanism   (5/5)

Thought-provoking and ultimately optimistic

Best new podcast!   (5/5)

Engaging, informative always entertaining with our friend Josh. Keep these coming, I’m hooked.

Superlatives   (5/5)

I love this stuff. It’s absolutely a fascination of mine. Josh, you’ve done an exceptional job with this. Ticks all of the boxes and then some.

Great Podcast   (5/5)

Great Podcast. Exactly what humanity needs, hopefully we all listen. Great idea!!

Surprisingly good   (5/5)

I was not expecting to like this at all, but I am finding it very fascinating. It is a little sad, a little hopeful, and very thoughtful. I thought it would be depressing and anxiety provoking, but so far it hasn’t been too bad on those fronts. Check it out.

Holy death-by-Space-dust, Batman!   (5/5)

This podcast just blew my mind! Josh Clark presents new perspectives on the universe that I had never considered before. And not only does it lay out fascinating possibilities for human scientific discovery, but hopefully also inspires someone to create some science fiction we’ve never seen before. I want to see a Star Trek series that is set in this real universe! If only Gene Roddenberry was a post-biological being that was still with us!

Amazeballs   (5/5)

This is the podcast I have been waiting for. I am making all my friends listen to #eotwjoshclark because I can’t stop thinking about it and need someone I can talk to about it! Reliably researched, Josh presents complicated theories in an understandable and interesting way. Top notch production. Total head scratcher and incredibly thought provoking. Can’t wait for more episodes!!

Josh um Clark   (5/5)

Love you Josh but miss the dad jokes and off the cuff fact recitation. You’re just reading a book report but we love you still.

Well researched and perfect flow.   (5/5)

I had this void that cosmos left since it ended and hearing a familiar and knowledgeable voice speak on many of the topics you cover is perfectly executed

Great podcast   (5/5)

Love the new podcast - really well done and fascinating, if a little alarming! Josh Clarke is easy to listen to - really well researched and produced.

Oh my gosh this is so goooood!!   (5/5)

Oh my gosh this is one of the best podcasts I’ve ever herd love it so much!!

Recommend listening while at the dentist on laughing gas   (5/5)

I’m a long time SYSK listener so I thought I would give this a listen. I chose to listen to the first and second episode during a long visit at the dentist while on laughing gas and let me say, it was quite the experience. The amazing audio and existential content in combination with the dreamy state of the laughing gas made the appointment go by in a flash! But, to confirm that I was actually a great podcast I listened to the first two episodes again later, without the influence of any substance. Can confirm, it’s a great podcast.

Josh is awesome   (5/5)

I like listening to Josh, he’s great at communicating and engaging with his audience. This is a fantastic podcast that encourages people to think outside of the box... or even, out of this world.

Freaking Great and Weirdly Inspiring!   (5/5)

Just lots of good, albeit slightly intimidating, facts and theories that will make you think beyond yourself or your bubble. Great for opening the mind. An excellent balance of truths and theories to help explore atopic that is often Neglected and ignored. Thank you josh for your hard work, passion, and dedication. PS. Your voice is perfect for this. Also, could you become an audiobook voice for Haruki Murakami books. Because that would be perfect. K thanks. Jeff Gepper

Well researched and interesting   (5/5)

Very interesting and not "scary" at al just wonderful eduction with snipets from experts. The topics really get me thinking. Josh does a great job sharing the knowledge.

Tremendous Podcast   (5/5)

I tend to listen to finance podcasts due to the work I’m involved in. However, I’ve listened to SYSK since forever. Sometimes there isn’t enough focus there on bigger questions that don’t lend themselves to discussion (that’s not a critique...SYSK is a 5 star podcast too). Josh crushes it on SYSK, but he is just as effective here. His passion is readily apparent, and the score is amazing. Keep up the great work man. Also - you need to read all 3 of Yuval Harari’s books if you haven’t already. They touch on this stuff. My fav author for sure.

Classic Josh   (5/5)

Josh Clark is a gift to humanity.

Always so unbiased   (5/5)

You’re great at what you do Josh

Proud of you Josh :,)   (5/5)

This is a great podcast in which Josh establishes his ability to podcast solo. Intriguing and interesting, it hooks you in and makes you wait for the next episode

No WiFi   (5/5)

I have no Cell service or WiFi on this island and I am thanking my lucky stars that I downloaded these episodes before I left. Truly wonderful engaging work! 🏝💙

My Favorite Podcast   (5/5)

This podcast presents all sorts of interesting and cool ideas that the average person probably has never thought of. If you like to ponder the fate of humanity and how we fit in the universe this podcast is for you.

Atmospheric, immersive, and thought-provoking narrative   (5/5)

Despite my complicated relationship with the expansive world beyond planet Earth, which can only be described as a rather withdrawn and intimidated reverence, Josh tackles topics simply and concisely so that the listener can follow along with ease without being overwhelmed by information. The sound design is expressive and immersive. Sometimes, it’s used as a sound effect to highlight or illustrate a certain point of dialogue. It also employs the regular, humming swells of a synthesizer to fill an otherwise empty background; its hypnotic tone really kicks my imagination into full gear, and has helped me become truly enthralled by the mysteries of the universe. The absolutely magnificent sound design, along with Josh’s descriptive storytelling, has created a captivating, thought-provoking narrative that I’m very thankful for.

Excellent!   (5/5)

New favorite podcast!

Amazing Show   (5/5)

I’m always uncertain about purely scripted shows. It usually sounds like someone is just reading off of a piece of paper. This was NOT the case with this show. It felt like I was listening to a big budget documentary with a narrator as professional and experienced as David Attenborough. In addition, the show succeeded in creating so much emotion and thought that my wife and I cannot stop talking about different elements of the show. (And we are only 3 episodes in). This is a masterpiece of not just podcasting, but of all documentary medium. Very impressed Josh and team. Thanks for the endless hours of thought provoking content.

Invigorating Deep Dive   (5/5)

So refreshing to hear a show that doesn't do a Wikipedia-level wade into the mind-expanding ideas, but plunges in head first, and backs it up with hard facts, thought-provoking insights and rich sound design.

Clear dedication to research without being dry   (5/5)

As a college student, I hear a lot of intellectual discussions on fascinating topics carried out in an excruciatingly dry manner. Josh throws all of that aside and delivers information in the most captivating, approachable way I’ve ever heard. Do yourself a favor, and give this podcast a try!

Josh hits his stride   (5/5)

The first two episodes get a little technical... then it all comes together in episode 3. I was on the edge of my (subway car) seat. I’m so excited for the rest of this series.

Outstanding   (5/5)

This should be mandatory in schools good!

Awesome job Josh!   (5/5)

Well done Josh! This goes far beyond your typical end of the world scenarios. The level of detailed research that Josh went through to produce this podcast to me screams book deal!! This is a well thought out podcast, and is on the level of “Guns, Germs & Steel” and “1491”. I’ll have to listen to this podcast multiple times to grasp all the concepts.

Josh Clark nails it!   (5/5)

I’ve throughly enjoy this podcast will driving across America. Wasn’t sure about it outside the How Stuff Works lineup but it’s highly entertaining and makes you think. I disagree with some of the theories but that’s part of why it makes you think. Thanks Josh and looking forward to the rest of the episodes!

Excellent Show!   (5/5)

This is as entertaining, interesting, and informative of a show you’re going to find out there in podcast land, folks! Josh, I wish you great success with it and I understand the hours and work it takes behind one episode, I just hope you can keep up with our need to hear more! Keep’em coming! Great stuff!!! Tony Finding Subjects Podcast

My new favorite podcast! You are so wonderful and the topics are thought-provoking. Love you and the new pod!!!

Mind blowing   (5/5)

I would expect nothing less from The Godfather of podcasting.

Great Podcast   (5/5)

This is a great podcast for those who are intrigued by life’s mysteries and the many questions you didn't know were festering in your mind. It’s great for a run, travel, or car ride. Highly recommend this podcast.
