Many a Moth story has kept me engrossed enough to not notice how much I hate running. Sometimes I’ll set out with the idea of a quick one mile because I’m feeling lazy and I’ll get so sucked into a story I end up tripling my goal. I honestly can credit The Moth with maintaining cardiovascular fitness and my goal weight for the last 3 years.
Personal stories, well told. Enchanting.
This is my go-to podcast when I want to stop obsessing about news and politics. Often I laugh, sometimes I cry. Always there is something to be gained from every episode.
I love these moth stories, one of the best podcasts on earth.. yeee yeee
I love this podcast, but some of the people on mic really should have a drink of water. Its hard to get through a good story when the storyteller has mush mouth.
5 stars no doubt. If you like this podcast I highly recommend the “Inside Stories” podcast. I appreciate the efforts of the team who put The Moth together—otherwise I would never hear these amazing stories. A sincere thank you!
Amazing true stories that help me realize we are all more alike than we realize.
Like a moth to a flame burned by the fire...my love is blind...can’t you see my desire. Ms. Jackson if you NASTY -Les Couchon- 💄🐷🍒👠
I love listening to people tell stories.. always have. This is the best podcast to turn on while you’re working and just listen. I have no expectations, the stories are always like a surprise because you don’t know what they’ll be about, but I always enjoy them... they draw you in and make you feel things. Mostly I laugh, but sometimes I find myself stopping what I’m doing and listening to an especially poignant story. It always makes the work day go by faster as I’m entertained by these raconteurs.
Whenever I see that a new Moth episode available, I feel the same excitement as a child who hears the music from the ice cream truck coming down the road.
The stories are wonderful! Thank you for providing these stories to all!
There is no better podcast
It’s the best thare all exciting not a single 1 is boring!.😀😃😀
Me and my mom expediently found this podcast, we thought how wonderful and amazing this idea was , so I’ll give this a 5 Star... it’s a brilliant masterpiece.
I’ve been listening for years and years. This podcast is a highlight of my week. But I agree with the previous review—it is close to impossible finding the pictures and material provided by and related to specific podcasts which is on “themoth.org.” Would absolutely LOVE to access these more easily!! Thank you!
I listen to the stories as I am cleaning houses. I wish there were more as I am running out of stories to listen to. I laugh- I cry- I am intrigued- Listening has made me look into story slams in my area -
I can binge listen and not feel as though My time was wasted at all.
I really love this show and everything you guys do here, but every time you guys reference “themoth.org” to view a picture associated with a story/story teller, I either cannot find the page you’re talking about at all or it takes me 20 minutes of clicking things to accidentally stumble upon it. OR I find the storyteller’s bio and the episode page but not the picture(s) that was said to be there waiting for me to check out. I love this show, and I love that you offer visual extras- all I ask is that you make them more easily accessible or that you give more specific instructions to view them rather than just saying “go to themoth.org”. Maybe include a direct link to the extra content in the show notes?
That comment as for a different podcast 😂 Luv your show keep up the good work! It was supposed to be for the bundyville podcast
They tend to repeat stories all the time. I am not quite sure why as they have Live Story events all the time all over the US. Honest speculation, seriously wondering why.
What can I say that hasn’t been said? The Moth is a wonderful organization and I look forward each week to new episodes and stories. The hosts always tie things together really well and provide a good mix of stories and backgrounds to keep you engaged.
I cannot get enough of this show. There is not a single episode that I have listened to that I have not enjoyed. I do not always know what type of story to expect but I know that whatever story it is it will be one worth listening to.
This podcast is my favorite! I have listened to every story for the past year. I recommend this podcast to my family and friends. Every story a gem!
Some times it is funny and some times it is not more comedy
Always interesting and inspiring, sometimes funny or sad, I get engrossed in these stories. Most stories are from regular people and some are from more famous people. I used to listen to The Moth years ago on public radio and loved it then. Glad I found their podcast.
I’m so grateful to the Moth! It is not easy to stand up and telling story of your life. I love to hear life story of others. I have an interesting life that I want to share, but still haven’t brave enough to call.the Moth. I hope one day I will.
I’m so thankful for this podcast. I am so grateful for the brave storytellers that have the power to get up and share their stories and for The Moth for providing a platform for storytellers to do so. The messages of the stories we tell and leave behind us inspire the stories that live beyond us. Thank you for all of the messages. Much love to you, Moth.
Enjoy the story tellers emotional , funny and drama stories that makes you think and connect with others.
Biased and not entertaining. Modern love is a better podcast.
One of the best.
I had listened to The Moth of public radio for years before discoing podcast. Listening to so many different people from all over the world tell their personal stories; it feels like home to me.
I LOVE the Moth and most of the time am very pleased and enjoy the stories. My only complaints- there are a disproportionally high number of stories about gay people and of stories about bad experiences with religious people. I feel like they push a little too much of certain stories. Also, there are not enough new episodes with new stories. I love the Moth and want to hear more please!
I can’t get enough of these stories I love each and everyone of the stories I’ve heard
I’ve been a listener and audience member for years - such great stories. I love David Crabb’s stories in particular!
I’m honestly devastated to write this review. From the bottom of my heart. I’ve been listening to the Moth for years. I often think of the many stories I’ve heard and still recount them to others, however, I recently decided that I can no longer support the Moth. The Moth changed my heart, it opened my mind to people of all walks of life and their stories. I cried, I laughed, I found compassion. The reason I am signing off is that I feel the Moth has started to use their platform for their own personal political agenda. What once was a inclusive podcast for all has now become one sided. What finally pushed me over the edge was they put out a show with very one sided controversial political topics (specifically ones that were very emotional and heart wrenching) the week of the election & at the end of show they told their viewers to “choose wisely”. I was blown away. This felt manipulative, using a heartbreaking stories to garner votes for their preferred stance. In this day in age, with so many people and places divided against each other I was so disappointed to see a podcast, that often promotes togetherness, choose instead to promote division. But alas, people will do what they think is best and right and I guess the Moth thinks this is way to make a better world. Sadly, I don’t agree and will no longer be a listener. Thanks for the good times Moth, they were great while they lasted.
The Moth is so popular for a reason. It gets down to the basic interest of podcasting— hearing stories. Sometimes it’s a great listen, sometimes it’s a good listen, and sometimes it’s just ehh. Depends on the story teller, which is the most natural facet of the show.
I love The Moth. I look forward to it whenever there is a new story that pops up. But lately they have been playing a bonus story at the end of the show sponsored by some company or the other. They are stories that have already played on The Moth and they have a rotation of only two or three stories so I keep getting stuck listening to something I’ve heard very recently. When I’m cooking or showering or falling asleep at night I don’t want to have to pick up my phone again, open the app and choose another podcast. Please stop doing this guys!
Stories that are genuine and well told because they are told by the person who loved them.
The Moth is stunning! Storytelling is essential to any community that desires to grow stronger, closer and function better! When individuals open up to strangers and tell their stories, you are no longer strangers! Storytelling has been a tradition of communities since mankind has had language and communities!!! When we tell our stories to those around us we build sympathy, empathy, friendships, bonds, relationships, and come together! The Moth provides a platform in a community to start building these stronger bonds together and is absolutely essential to building the communities we desire to live in! Once you get to know the stories of your neighbors it is impossible not to have some bond!!! I listen to this podcast every week!!! I have gone to live events and hopefully one day I will tell a story of my own!!! Keep up the good work, building stronger community bonds one storyteller and one story at a time!!!
You'll tear up and laugh out loud every episode- sometimes more than once
Why do people who smack, gulp swallow, interrupt themselves to slurp their own spit, etc, immediately end up on a podcast? Couldn’t make it through the first episode. Can they not take out those disgusting and distracting sounds in post production? Podcast is all sound and they’re expecting us to sift through this stuff and stick with it?
I look forward to this every week. Love it
This is an exceptional podcast. It makes my time on the treadmill fly by. Or a road trip in the car seem like hours instead of days. The stories are laugh out loud funny or sometimes bring tears to my eyes, but many stay with me which I recall often.
This podcast is one of my absolute favorite things in life.
I discovered the Moth by accident when I was working late nights on the weekend as I was trying to stay up to start work at midnight. I quickly became hooked and now listen to the podcast in addition to catching it on KQED Saturday night
No matter what the topic, Moth stories always grab that innermost human part of us, the part that connects us to each other. You can never just blithely have this on as background noise...there’s too much emotion. If I could give it 10 stars, I would.
The Moth is humanity at its best. It makes me laugh, cry, empathize, and generally feel like I’m really not alone! Even better, I’m in good company. I listen while traveling long distance, waiting for appointments, and cooking. So many stories, not enough time!!!
This is the worst and most annoying podcast ever! How can anybody like this !?!?! If there was a rating lower the 0 I would rate it.
The moth is so awesome. If you need a good belly laugh or a mournful experience, this is the podcast for you! If you want to listen to it in the car or going to bed, this is the podcast for you!
Each and every episode entertains and teaches Giving me a voice in finding my story While I listen to the master story tellers, I identify my strengths , see the world with a new set of eyes, laugh and cry!!!
I’ve been listening to The Moth podcast since I was a sophomore in high school and it’s always been such a special treat ♥️ I love this podcast so, so much. Some stories make me cry, some make me laugh, some give me new perspectives on life, and others highlight a need for change. I recommend this podcast to anyone and everyone. Absolute favorite.
I love the variety of stories from so many different people.
Really great podcast to learn others perspectives and gain more of a sense of empathy. I just wish they were more consistent on releasing episodes. If Tuesday and Friday it is I wish they would not skip Friday sometimes
Such a wealth of fantastic storytelling
I just started listening to this podcast and I didn’t realize how much it would make me feel. The fun stories brighten my day. The emotional stories touch my heart and it makes me feel grateful. And I love all the in between.
I really like your podcast
I used to incorporate an evening at The Moth during visits to NYC. It was unpredictable and life-affirming. I loved it. Now the sound of opportunism makes me cringe. A story telling machine? Ick.
It evokes emotions that you had no idea were there. One second your laughing the next you're humbly crying. Can’t believe the happiness this podcast has brought to my life.
This podcast is my favorite of all. Whether I’m crying, laughing or just engrossed in the deep soulfulness of these stories, they transform me from where I was to 100% in. I usually save them up for when I’m having a tough day, and the moth just takes it away!
Not a surprise but I love The Moth!!! Everyone should listen- so much beautiful content. Keep on sharing 🦋
Moth is such an awesome, uplifting, stark (in both depths of beauty and abject anguish at times) testament to the human experience, survival instinct, wit, luck, hilarious perspective (...you name it) and of course the timeless art of storytelling. I love this podcast. More!
I want to slit my wrists when these art directors start to speak. Enough to immediately turn it off.
Really I wanted to love these. & I did love most of the honest story slams & people’s tales of real life experiences & embarrassing stories of youth. Overwhelmingly , every week is guaranteed to have some sob story of the homosexual experience in our straight white society. We get it. You’re here you’re queer get used to it? If your entire existence is based on what you do in bed, you may need a life
Don’t you think scooby do and shreck make a great couple? 👩🎨💅👠🥽🦎🍂☁️🥝🧂🥍🧘♂️🏆🎮🧩🏎🚧🗼🏘
I have heard some of the most beautiful, funny, heart-wrenching and miraculous stories by listening to this podcast. I am so grateful for the work that The Moth does to share people’s stories.
I live in Baltimore and the news is dreadful hear and across the country. NPR, with all its gifts and talent, tells it all. So for the peace I long for I can listen to the MOTH RADIO HOUR pod cast and am reminded the is also still humanity up here. Thank you MOTH PEOPLE
This week’s episode, “The Rest is History” is just wonderful. First hand accounts of the Holocaust are becoming rare. This one is very touching. Also, the story of the Stradivarius violin was so rare!!! A very unique episode, sensitive and insightful.
This was the first podcast I ever listened to, that was a couple years back and I now have many other favorites. The Moth will always be my favorite. I first heard it on NPR on a Saturday in 2012, and I have not missed one episode. I am now also a regular at the Miami Moth story slams! Keep it up, you all rock!
Such a great podcast. Covers every range of emotion & topic. The Moth Story Slams has something for everyone.
The Moth is the music of humanity. May we all become master storytellers, inspired by the true stories of our full hearts.
These stories are true and interesting and encourage compassion and empathy for others. I relate to some stories and do not relate to most, which broadens my knowledge and perspective of the world and others in it.
I’ve been listening to The Moth weekly for the past 4 years and it’s always the highlight of my week. I laugh, I cry, and I’m able to feel part of something bigger than myself when I can listen and understand someone better or know that someone goes through the same struggles as me. I always recommend The Moth to all my friends and family, and when I find a fellow listener I feel instantly connected to them. I love The Moth, and how they share perspectives from all over the world. I can’t rave enough about this podcast
I rarely listen to a Moth story with a ho-hum response. More often than not, I am moved....to think, to laugh, to disagree, to recall my own past, to challenge my biases. It’s a great program.
Listening to the moth is like listening to the sound a cat makes when you rub its belly.
Great for falling asleep and very attention grabbing
Better than therapy.
I love everything about the moth radio hr. I rely on it to help me know my own stories. It is one of the greatest expressions of our time.
I love the concept of The Moth and the stories that they pick. I especially appreciate that the stories are so diverse and come from many ages, countries, ethnicities, backgrounds, etc.
I like the moth logo. :)
The moth sets the bar for all the rest.
Fly high :)
I have to ask where have you been all Of my life??? This podcast and these stories entered my life EXACTLY when it was supposed to! I NEEDED THIS! ❤️❤️❤️
This is my absolutely favorite podcast. It makes my heart sing. I listen immediately as soon as a new one downloads. Thank you to ALL the storytellers. I hear you.
I love this podcast so much. The stories are all amazing. 10/10
Why was there only one episode for Black History month?
Great podcast great stories
great podcast.. love the Moth
I have been a listener for years now. I started with my first car 10yrs ago and had to be in it to catch the show. Now I can listen any time I am feeling let down by society. The stories are about humanity and how we all can be caught up by tragedy or joy. The details people remember in the moment keep surprising me. Your staff who help refine the stories and the people willing to share have my utmost appreciation. Thank you for sharing your stories to open all of our eyes. Aloha and Mahalo Cameron Layer
The Moth is the most amazing true, live story telling podcast ever! I can't remember the last time I have tuned in to the norm radio stations, even television. I am so hooked and inspiried by the many choices of Podcast programing. I made my iTune podcast playlists of my favorites. And the moth radio hour is my five star, go to program. Thank you for the wonderful people who have shared their lives and experiences in your podcast. Mahalo and Aloha ! From the big island of Hawaii, Kealia South Kona.
*sigh* I’m a middle schooler and I don’t feel like listening to stories about drugs. I’m not subscribing. If.... You.... Don’t..... Want..... To.... Be..... Traumatized.... Buy mothballs. Pun intended.
Amazing stories..they will stay with me forever.
Beautifully produced, engaging stories, and great takeaways. I’m hooked!
I LOVE The Moth. It’s my first choice podcast. I never miss an episode. I share many especially beloved stories from The Moth with friends on Facebook or in private messages. But, that not-pretty trumpet fanfare, louder than any other part of the show, snaps my eyes open, initiates an adrenaline rush, makes me crazy every time. Truly, deeply annoying in an otherwise delightful, often inspiring, hour. Please make it go away or AT LEAST tone it down to the same decibel level as the rest of the show.
I like this podcast but a lot of the stories are horribly depressing... I guess that's life these days.
I am absolutely obsessed! When I first discovered it, I blew through episode after episode. Now, I am always anxiously awaiting new episodes! My favorite podcast, by far.
One of the best. But the trumpet intro and HURTS. Who thought that was good? If they could lower the volume on the clapping and the trumpet so these excellent stories didn’t end with pain, that would be so appreciated. Does anyone else notice this?
My Ears Are Dancing 💃
I listen to many True Crime podcasts. I have two favorites. True Crime Brewery and this one. The topics are very interesting and well researched. Additionally the hosts voice are very easy to listen to. Their command of the English language helps too. Good grammar and a good vocabulary helps too. As long as you “Pod” I will listen!
I listened to this for quite awhile and then it hit me that the storytellers are always crafting stories. You don’t hear from real people doing interesting things...they’re just too polished. They even grab an occasional celebrity...as if they didn’t already have a platform for their stories.
If you only listen to one podcast, make it this one. The stories are so heartwarming, funny, interesting, sad, and everything in between. Perfectly put together.
I love this program!!! Unfortunately sometime we come across a speaker that has developed some habits that are highly distracting and un pleasurable for the listener. Case in point episode #1313 therapy, lip smacking and grunts I find to be extremely off putting and annoying. I hope perhaps either they can learn to not do that so much or let someone else tell the story
I’m ten and I listen to this every morning!!!😁😄😃😀😇🙂🥰😘😍🥳
This is my go-to podcast! I binged The Moth on my last two trips and it made traveling easier and faster! I love hearing stories from people from all around the world. These are so many experiences that I’ve heard that I think about on a daily. I hope that one day I can share one of my stories with The Moth and it’s listeners! 10/10 would recommend!
Great story’s! Just amazing! Love the moth sooo much!
I’m that mom who has one ear bud in so that she can secretly listen to podcasts while her 3 sons bicker and yell in the backseat. I love this podcast because it’s about real things. People who are like me but much better at telling their story. I took my husband to a live Moth this year too and he loved it. Too bad he doesn’t do podcasts. 🤷🏻♀️
The Moth is chock full of incredible talent and, of course, stories. I first listened to it on the radio, however, I "discovered" the podcast on this app, it changed my daily life. Only improvement I can think of is that they only have the most recent, say, 20-30 stories.
I’ve been listening the moth for years, driving to a client’s, while road-tripping, in the bathtub, or standing in line at the post office. The moth has kept me company while I was in mourning, in celebration, and dying of boredom. It never disappoints, if often inspires and it always delivers! I highly recommend!
New listener. So far so good.
Thank you for sharing beautiful stories.
I promise this review is unsponsored, and I LOVE The Moth!! It’s SO great to listen to random people’s stories!! Some are hilarious, some are depressing, some inspiring, some happy, but ALL of them are fantastic! Let me say it one more time - I LOOOOOOVE THE MOTH!!!!!!!
The moth does a really great job at coaching the story tellers on how to tell their stories. It feels genuine and seamless, which makes if fun to hear. The variety is astounding. Many have stuck with me. Truly excellent curating.
I love one and done stories. In this case it give us the best that stay with you.
Why is every guy gay
When did you start? How many years have you been doing this? You are awesome! You are a good and fun! Do you write books about math? How many likes you have? How many listeners are there? Who made the math? All of them are amazing and awesome and fun! Go the moth! I love you.
I am a big fan of many podcasts but The Moth is BBY far my very favorite.
The story telling is terriffic. I love listening. It is extremely rare when there is a bad story.
On a long road trip The Moth kept me and my family entertained and educated, while it also lulled my Rottweiler into a calm and restful state. Thanks!!!
This is my very favorite podcast. I only wish there were more! The stories are windows into people’s lives. So engaging and heartwarming.
I am so happy I stumbled across this podcast. It is so real and so true to itself. I totally enjoy it and I have my husband hooked on it too.
Wow, wow, wow. Love this podcast. Well done.
I really enjoy listening to people share true stories from their lives. The topics are all over the place: happy sad funny surprising suspenseful full of reflection appreciative. I enjoy the diversity of storytellers as well.
I love the Moth and have been listening to it for the last 2 years or so. Lately there have been a lot of repeat stories and the last episode was all repeats, makes me sad because I’m so excited to listen to it and hear new stories.
Hi Moth! I love this podcast and would recommend highly but the reason I’m writing this is because I would really appreciate it if you told Marian Spearless thank you for naming her cat Tina Fey. That is the best thing I’ve heard all week.
In this world, what we need are more stories. The Moth gives people a voice, letting the listener new perspectives and views.
I become a moth fan since my first time listening to it a few months ago. The stories range from funny to deeply moving, and they are all immensely engaging. I love this podcast so much that it inspired me to pitch a story. I would love an answer to the pitch though. If it’s a yes or a no, my suggestion is there is some kind of loop back to the “pitcher”. Thank you
The moth is easily the best podcast I have ever encountered. It has an amazing mix of amazing, unique stories, and a refreshing, genuine, raw feel to it. I could not recommend this more!
The Moth is one of the most interesting podcasts out there, and it’s a real joy to listen to. The stories shared here could be about anything under the sun, but they always make for great listening.
We unplugged from cable TV earlier this year and that was the best decision because my adult son introduced me to Podcasts. I love real human stories that make me laugh, cry, think about new ideas, unfamiliar cultures & lessons learned. Thank you Moth!
Listening to the Moth Radio Hour while making/eating dinner has become my new favorite way to spend the evening.
This is hands-down my most favorite podcast. I laugh, I cry; sometimes I have deep lightbulb moments. But I’m always energized by the deep breadth and similarities of humanity. I love that this is very low-key and real as opposed to polished and theatrical.
Thank you making me smile, laugh, shed a tear or two, while helping me continue to believe in people!
The Moth is my savior!! Driving 5 hours every Friday night from north Detroit to Pittsburgh to see my wife and kids and another 5 hours on Sunday evening back to Detroit has been my normal routine for the last 15 months. Highway driving can be monotonous, but The Moth keeps me engaged and entertained. I can’t thank you enough. One day I will have my own stories to tell.
Each story is embedded with a lesson. Because each is told in riveting detail, the lesson is all the more memorable. Thanks to all the marvelous people who have shared their stories and for the Moth producers to keep the art of storytelling alive!
I love listening to this show anytime. Such a great display that anyone has a story.
This podcast is absolutely amazing i love it. I have been listening to the Moth for about a year now and i have lots it ever scince. I also love that so many people have the courage to share their life storys its very entertaining to here
These stories aren't very deep and sometimes are like 3 minutes of rambling. Do they prepare people like Risk? Stories need to be workshopped!
Love hearing the various stories of many cultures and people
I can’t express the way that this podcast makes me feel. Absolutely spectacular.
My wife and I have been listening to The Moth for a while now....planning our Saturday trips around the broadcast and picking up those we've missed on the podcast anytime we can.....such great stories. We've gone to a story slam last year....great time....looking forward to another. Thank You All for this Endeavor !!
I’m a homeschooling mom and have enjoyed the places and experiences that The Moth opens up through stories. There are so many worlds within worlds all around us, too many to grasp in a lifetime, but I feel like the Moth has given my family a chance to look through “windows” and catch snapshots of other lives and experiences that we might never be aware of otherwise, and to feel their impact. I definitely recommend listening with your kids. Parents will want to listen ahead to get a feel for content to make sure it’s age appropriate for your children, but many of the stories are family friendly and inspire great conversations. We are always looking forward to the next Moth release. Thank you for this amazing resource!
The Moth's mission to promote storytelling is probably a blessing to the world, but it's definitely a boon to the world of podcasting
Thanks for all the wonderful, real stories. I listen to a lot of pods and yours is by far the best. I so look forward to them.
Every time I listen to the moth, I feel encouraged and connected. Makes me think that we are all very similar but unique.
Definition of an engaging and fruitful podcast. Thank you.
They always restore my faith in the human spirit!
One of the best pods out there.
The power of story telling at its best! Just gets better and better.
The moth is the best
I was first introduced to the Moth by my husband, years ago, when he showed me the videos of the show. I was captivated by the power of the first person, well told tale, recounted without notes. The stories shifted my vision of the world sometimes. Other times I simply would laugh out loud. I love this show and still do return, curious and surprised.
There’s not a bad story in the bunch. You never know what you’re going to get, and each one is different than last and so great in it’s own way. Thank you Moth for bringing them all together for us each episode.

I absolutely love The Moth. Since discovering it I now listen every day. The stories make me laugh, cry and think. So grateful to have found this Pod cast.
I have been tuned in since I was in college and I love the stories. The diversity in the storytellers is refreshing!
Love it!! Can’t stop crying. Such beautiful stories. Thank you for this different podcast.
I am a regular podcast listener and the latest episode - the Kindness of Strangers - was super. Thanks for picking up on this recurring theme in your stories - I hope to hear more of these soon!
I listen to The Moth on the radio maybe twice a month, just if I happen to be driving at the right time on the right night. But a few weeks ago, I saw that they were going live just around the corner from where I live! Ran right out to buy tickets for me and my husband, to whom I’d recently intro’ed The Moth on radio. I am now super-psyched to be listening to the podcasts!!!
I love imagining the audience at these stories. It's amazing how compelling these stories could be.
This is my favorite podcast to listen to during my long commutes. It really makes me feel connected to the story tellers with their humor, humility, vulnerability and their ability to keep me completely consumed and engaged making my commutes seem much shorter. In a place where social media has created a platform for people to show their ugly, this podcast gives me hope and makes me feel connected again.
If you’ve never listened then you’re all set: there’s tons of catching up to do! But as someone who looks forward to each week’s new release I am soooo often disappointed because it seems that most often it’s an old episode. Either from last year or 4 years ago. Bummer. Also, the show seems to have some clear and pretty obvious agendas, which is fine, but sometimes it feels tiring to listen to something that feels so curated to their POV.
I do enjoy listening to this podcast, but yikes at the end of an often thoughtful lovely story comes a screaming trill trumpet wailing. Please, please wether I’m walking the dog listening or dozing off to sleep this is so jarring. If you must have this simple trumpet trill, turn the volume down. Or please consider a musical tract more appropriate for the end of a good story. Thanks.
Best stories !
The Moth is my absolute favorite podcast, which says something as I listen to quite a number of them. I always feel moved when listening. I’ve burst out laughing, I’ve held tears back. I’ve never felt let down by an episode once. If I had to choose just one podcast to listen to for the rest of my life, it’d be The Moth.
I love the show! However You hosts could improve the recordings by offering water to storytellers to take on stages. Nothing sounds more irritating than a nervous person with a dry tongue sticking to their mouth as they tell a story. It is distracting. Great podcast though!!!
I’ve enjoyed The Moth for many months. Last week’s show cracked me up! “All At Sea” made me was the funniest story I’ve ever heard. I listened to the entire show numerous times, and that segment even more. Thank you!
I am a consumer of stories. I love to hear life affirming stories of challenges overcome, and real genuine human interaction. I like to share these stories with others. Thank you for being apart of my community.
Look forward to the stories each week!
Love the Moth. I've laughed out loud, cried and shared every emotion with the story tellers on the Moth. There's something special about hearing these stories straight from those who lived them.
I’ve been listening for years and i love this podcast! I am a little sad they seem to have shifted to be mostly the radio hour. It is rare I have an hour to devote to listening and most of my radio hours seem to go unfinished. That said, this is one of the only podcasts I listen to that consistently has episodes over 20 minutes (granted I usually stop after the 2nd or 3rd story, so I’m not listening to the whole hour).
The Moth is my tonic in this age of AI. It’s all about the human experience as told by humans. I laugh I cry I love.
Love The MOTH broadcasts! Thank you for storytelling at its finest 💜
I enjoy every episode. The stories make me laugh and cry and grow.
Love the Moth podcasts! I always miss the NPR broadcast on Friday at 1pm because of my work schedule so podcasts are a treasure.
My favorite podcast with the most incredible stories to connect me to the world.
Everyone has a story. This is a great collection of stories from a host of different backgrounds. Keeps me entertained during my runs!
Heartfelt and moving stories to help me through my mundane day!
This show has taken me to the extremes of human emotion in all of the best ways.
Is really really outstanding.
It's a rare episode that I don't fully enjoy & feel moved by. Most of the storytellers are excellent, with the "regular" folks as excellent as the stand-ups, writers & other pros that appear.
I just love the Moth. These are a bunch of honest, heart felt, funny, tear provoking, heart squeezing stories.
Thanks to the moth a lot of my long trips where shorter.such interesting topics and storytellers from all over the globe.thanks “the moth” ❤️😂
I Really Enjoy listening to this Podcast.
I’ve been an apple iPhone user for years and always known about podcasts but never took advantage of what they offered. So one day while scrolling on FB I come across a video of a lady telling her story. Something called “the moth”. So I check it out and bam!!! Mind blown!! I’ve been a fan ever since!
The Moth has helped me in so many ways during my time listening to it, but I think what has helped me the most is this sense that we’re all in the together. It’s so easy to feel isolated and that my problems are insurmountable or more difficult than the next person’s set of problems. The Moth presenters, with great humility and humor, present their lives in such a way that make me personally feel like, “Okay, I’m not the only one going through that.” So thank you for your efforts in organizing this project over the years. It’s super meaningful to me.
These stories are very well told, and very interesting! One of my favorite podcasts.
I found them off when they took off briefly Perry home companion when Garrison Keillor retired. It was replaced by them off. Then Perry home companion came back on, but by then I had found the podcast. I intend to be a life Dash Long listener. I really love it. I wish I were as funny and as candid as these people who are presenting. My friends say I’m funny, but they love me!
Fascinating stories from all over the world. From real people
Touching & enjoyable!!! We are all individuals with unique stories (not always happy, not always sad). Thank you for the continued content!
I just adore being able to listen about others life and struggles as well as triumphs.
The story’s are often great. If they are not you can’t get rid of them. The delete doesn’t work even if you can find it. I don’t know, maybe it’s my POS I-Phone.
The Moth doesn’t allow you, the listener, the audience, to find old episodes online, via the app. Defeats the purpose of having the app.
Prepare to laugh, to cry, to smile. It is all humanity. So GREAT. the format too is perfect in range and pace. Always such a treat to listen to the moth.
The stories told on this show are everything from funny to poignant to tear-jerking. And even with the wide variation of stories that are told here they never fail to entertain. Definitely one of my very favorite podcasts!
One of the best podcasts around. Love everything about the moth. Except the logo. Awful color and design, does not represent this awesome product
I love the moth! Whenever I need to clean my room or I have a long car ride I listen to the moth. I think I have listened to every story the podcast has to offer. I hope someday I can tell a story at a moth story slam. It is just amazing!
At least to Moth listeners...
Love the moth it has made me laugh, cry and kept me on the edge of my seat.
The Moth is, by far, my favorite podcast. I"m either laughing along or crying with most episodes.
Most of the time I love it. It’s annoying for people like me who listen to all the episodes that they have repeats occasionally
The Moth is the one of the first podcasts I’ve gotten into and I’ve been hooked since then. Interesting and captivating stories by people like you and I️.
As it says
I just love the stories I hear on the moth. Whenever I listen I imagine that one day I’ll have a great story to tell and be unafraid to tell it.
Thank you for making me smile on the way to work!
These are great stories. This is my favorite podcast. They really get me in the feels.
Love the stories, love everything about the podcast. One of my all time faves was when the chef and his young coworkers found themselves cooking for a president. Keep it up!
I love the moth very much. it's funny and easily likeable. plus the stories are interesting.
Moth podcast is my go to while I’m working outside. Nothing is too long that if you miss something usually you can catch up. I have cried and laughed listening to these stories. Adults and kids, old and young, funny and sad-you hear it all!
I know it’s cliche to say, but truly with these podcasts you will experience the gamut of emotions but always come out the other side appreciative of those who shared.
The Moth is consistently my absolute favorite podcast with so many memorable stories I feel compelled to listen to over and over again and share with my friends and family.
In these crazy times, the Moth connects me to humanity and gives me hope.
I can’t believe it took me this long to find you!
Love Love Love The Moth. Listening this during my commute, I laugh, cry and smile from ear to ear.
The Moth always inspires me.
This podcast is mostly gay stories by gay people. It's annoying. Christian's are made fun of. I'd be okay with it all if only there was more variety.
Love love love it
I laugh, cry and get surprised with every story this is an amazing collection of true story's told by the people who lived them give it a try I promise it's worth your time
All time favorite. Stories teach so much about people and life. Love the variety of people and topics featured. Always makes me cry and laugh.
This is some of the best we humans have to offer. Our stories
I absolutely love The Moth. What more can I say?
I love reading memoirs so this is definitely in my genre. These are great stories told by a wide range of people. I definitely, definitely recommend it. This is the one podcast that I never delete the episodes to- I just listen to them over and over again. Thanks Moth!!
The reason I donate to NPR, honestly. Get to a live show if you haven't yet!
Great stories with a lot of emotion.
Production and selection are great
Every Tuesday is special, when a new episode of the Moth comes out. Each story is unique, but the podcast as a whole is equal parts heart-wrenching, funny, and powerful.
Always fresh! Funny, sweet, sad, happy, intelligent....Just lovely listening to the individual true stories.
I've laughed. I've cried. Usually during the same story. I look forward to every episode that comes out. My only critique is I wish they would put out more.
Powerful, authentic, meaningful, funny, wonderfully true stories.
I think that if you like stories that this podcast is for you!
This is the podcast that I recommend on a cut consistent basis to all of my friends, acquaintances, and anyone who I can. It's an amazing podcast. One second you're laughing, the next you're crying, it's really a great rollercoaster of emotion.
The show is nothing more than a left agenda driven crap fest! It used to be quality stories, now it's nothing but left leaning BS.
I love the variety of stories shared. Admittedly, I am very picky about what stories I hang in for based on strong accents that are hard to understand, or monotone voices that aren't engaging. There's something for EVERYONE here and you might just find yourself stricken with a profound appreciation for another person's private journey.
For the love of god can you please provide these people with water. I love the stories but can't listen sometimes because all I can hear is the spit in their mouth. Gross!!!
Love love the Moth.
Great stories generally. Male host at start is pretty painful.
One-of-a-kind tales straight from the horses' mouths
Great stories, love the variety of the story tellers
We love our weekly dose of humanity delivered through this show!
I enjoy these as home and car to pass the time. Always something new and enlightening.
Such a good podcast. I'm hooked.
I listen to many podcasts but this is the one I steer people to if they are new to podcasting. If you ever get a chance to listen to the original moth best of DVD I highly highly recommend it.
I listen with my lady when we drive. We laugh, cry and ride every honest emotion these people's stories bring out in us. Thank you.
Only complaint is that it's not long enough!
95% of the time I love this podcast. It gets right to the human parts of life. I admit I'm probably right smack dab in the center of their target market, but it is just so great. It helps me feel connected while I work alone on the floors of empty buildings.
I'm always entertained by the stories!
Absolutely love the Moth. Wish they did a story slam here in Phoenix!
This is by far my favorite pod cast ever. I love hearing people's stories. I have smiled and cried so much. Thank you.
The stories of this podcast truly represent the full spectrum of the human experience. This podcast is a weekly gift to humanity, and I recommend it to everyone.
This podcast always strikes a chord- whether it is making me laugh, feel saddened, or giving me goosebumps, I am never disappointed in The Moth!
What more can I say? Love
This is horrible... just... wow
I've loved the Moth for years but lately those interviews of the storytellers have started to grate on my nerves. Nestor has become the token Hispanic who has been deemed approachable for the white NPR audiences. Same thing with any person of color. But all of these stories are so workshopped and awful.
Implicit bias description made me realize that I am a racist, even though I thought I have no prejudice in my mind and heart. Words and actions work together to reflect our inner feelings. To work on not being racist is working diligently toward PEACE.
I listen to tons of podcasts & this is my favorite. I laugh, I cry, I gasp, etc. So real. So awesome. I eagerly await each release. Love.
This podcast is everything that is right and beautiful with this wold. I truly believe that Being able to connect with people from different backgrounds and places all over the world builds understanding and peace In humanity. This podcast has given me purpose. It has made me want to be a better story teller and one day tell my own story on the moth stage.
These stories break me, save me, motivate me, and center me. I've even entered a story slam myself and won. It was therapeutic and adrenaline filled.
I love the honesty and uniqueness of all the stories shared. Sometimes I am left crying in my car or laughing hysterically - you never know what you will feel but it is always an amazing experience.
I have been listening for years and this podcast has carried me through many crazy life changes. Great reminder of the variety of the human experience. THANK YOU!
I love The Moth but they took the TalkSpace ad too far. I am sure a lot people use podcast to get away from every day worries. To imply that a bunch of poor people aren't going to have health care, so they can push a product doesn't feel like help to me. I just didn't expect that from The Moth.
This podcast is great. I think hearing stories from people all around the world make you realize that people with very different life experiences are still relatable. I find it inspirational, and love how a story about a minor occurrence in someone's life can be riveting.
This is one of my two most favorite podcasts. Generally there are three stories in each podcast. These stories range from funny, thought-provoking, heart-felt and informative. There is always something for everyone that is listening. I even have my 84 year old mother listening and she loves it. When I think of podcast that made me remember it long after I listened...it would be something I heard on The Moth.
Loving, wondrous, humorous, thought provoking and wonderful. It lifts my day.
This is one of the best podcasts out there. It's thoroughly entertaining, I just wish episodes would come out more frequently because I can't get enough. So many of the stories and life lessons have stuck with me since I've started listening to this podcast
OMG. I was looking for a new podcast, read a review of The Moth and tries an episode. I am absolutely hooked!! The stories are amusing, heart warming, interesting etc etc...I am telling everyone I know to start listening. Makes my commute to work super enjoyable. Problem is I don't want to get out of the car 😊
I've listened off and on to the Moth almost since the beginning (sorry it's taken so long to review). I doubt a homebody like me will ever make it to one of the live events, but I'd imagine the podcast is the next best thing. I do prefer the candid openness even on explicit topics that they used to have on the podcast in the early days, perhaps they could do like selected shorts is doing and have a separate feed for more explicit and racy topics. Still this is one of the few shows I turn to in order to get into the perspective of people from other cultures and to squash my remaining myopia about the world. That is a cause I can definitely get behind.
This podcast has made such an impact on my life. I laugh and cry through most episodes. So many wonderful stories I won't forget.
Love this podcast. Short stories that make me laugh and cry. Well done! Thank you!
I cry every episode! Love this show so so much. My favorite episodes feature people who would normally not be on a stage. Not writers or performers but regular people or down-and-out characters. Fascinating and insightful.
I save them up so I listen to several at a time!
Beautiful stories from all kinds of people.
The moth stories are perfect: real, emotive, perfect length of time...
You never know what you're getting in an episode, but mostly the stories are all compelling. There are times I have to skip ahead to the next one, but you can't please everyone.
The Women episode from April 25 was fantastic, best collection of remakable stories since ever.
I just can't get enough of this stuff.
I love The Moth! The stories are so moving and real.
The Moth is one of my favorite podcasts to listen to, however I have a slight issue with the consistency. Some stories are heartbreaking, hilarious, emotional, dramatic, or inspiring, but others are simply plain. It is like finding a piece of gold when I come across a story that is full of emotion because sometimes an episode is drab, boring, or pointless. Maybe being pointless is the point. To appreciate the small things. Either way, the Moth episodes about the horse tattoo and the New York City juror were two of my favorites. Definitely worth the listen but be forewarned you might have to skip around!
I have to admit that I am fairly new to podcasts, but this one is like Black Dinah Chocolate on my tongue.....warm, soothing and oh so delicious!
The curation of this podcast is fantastic! I really enjoy the variety of stories and the authenticity of the experiences. Have laughed, cried, and pondered while listening to this podcast. The Moth live events are also fantastic!
Take a listen and feel the life in each story told. It's not your story and you are not likely going to say "Yeah, I can relate," but you will cheer, cry, laugh, sit straighter, sit on the edge of your seat, and a whole lot more listening to average people retell unaverage moments of their life. We all think we are so ordinary and unremarkable until we stand in front of someone and talk about those points in life we experienced that changed or defined who we are forward in life. Only when we see the others facing us do we realize we are all different breaths of life. Important, powerful, and amazing on our own. These are stories of those moments.
The Moth is a wonderful set of true stories, thoughtfully curates, told live. Deeply entertaining, often very moving and thought provoking, the podcast is great. See a live show, too, if tou get a chance, they are very fun!
Good place to hear good stories from many different perspectives and experiences.
The only bad thing about this podcast is it sometimes makes me cry.
Great story tellers.... this podcast is amazing.
I would listen daily if I could
I cannot express how much I LOVE this podcast. You NEED to listen.
Love the stories and look forward to this every time. So glad there is a radio hour version as I can't ever get enough.
These stories are hilarious!
I hate writing reviews, but I love this podcast and want them to know it
These moving stories will make you laugh, cry and connect with others. If you have a heart, you will probably like this podcast.
If you like podcast this podcast is a great
Since I been listening to The Moth, I started going to the local storytellers and poetry slam shows. Meeting all kinds of new and interesting people!!
Love this show !
This is the greatest podcast I've ever listened to.
Such great personal stories. Great podcast! Hope to catch a live show someday.
The stories are not always the most appealing, but I always enjoy listening any way because it's awesome to hear the stories of other people's personal experiaces. I can always count on learning something. cwdesign.studio
One of the worst podcasts I've ever heard. Rather than explore science, history, or philosophy, this is just another navel-gazing bit of self indulgent noise for mindless droolers.
I love The Moth. I always listen when I can. My only criticism is that the podcast does not coordinate with the radio broadcast. Of course it is wonderful to get other stories than the broadcast ones, but if I have to miss the radio broadcast, I wish it were easier to get the missed episodes some other way.
Storytelling at its most compelling! I laugh, I cry, I wish I could tell stories like this.
The stories are always entertaining, surprising, and well structured.
I love to hear so many different stories from so many different kinds of people. I always get excited when I see there's a new episode!
A LOT OF PODCASTS. The Moth is my favorite and goes right to the top of my listening list as soon as a new episode drops.
The variety of stories and voices always promises to please!
Beautifully curated stories. Always a pleasure to listen to.
I love these stories
The idea is simple enough: Real people telling true stories in front of a live audience. On its face, it might seem underwhelming, but I can't even count the number of times I've been moved to tears by what I've heard from this program. Even those stories that don't pack an emotional suckerpunch are likely to make me laugh or, at the very least, look with a fresh perspective at a situation I maybe hadn't given a lot of thought to previously.
Every episode is amazing. Great real life stories and story tellers.
There is no way any sane person would not love this show❤️
Always interesting always cool
Thank you for bringing this podcast into exsistence. The stories are real, as are the people telling them, and whether they are about the everyday-life of learning to live with a new sibling or the extraordinary (like rowing the English Channel in a bathtub), there is something unconquerable and human that brings each storyteller straight from their hearts and into yours.
Years and years ago when I began listening to podcasts, The Moth was one of my favorites. Meeting people from completely different walks of life through their stories is what The Moth does best! It used to be that I couldn't wait for the next one to come out. Today... boring! I still listen, and occasionally enjoy a great story, but where is the life, the excitement, the risqué, and the riveting stories I once heard. Please, filter more! Listening through the quantity of stories for a quality one is getting old.
It's kind of a thing again - storytelling. These are supposedly true and free of notes and told in a manner that encourages competition and excellence. Anyway, nice to hear these random stories in front of an audience.
Love all the stories.
My favorite podcast. This show is a great way to see what's going on outside of your own version of reality. Check it out.
When I open up my podcast app I often don't know what to listen to. Sometimes I'm not in a particular mood. That's when I go to The Moth. Each story is heartwarming and honest, totally genuine and usually make me cry at least a titch! Thank you to all Moth storytellers for sharing your wonderful stories :)
This is a wonderful podcast of real people telling short stories from their life experiences that are truly heart felt and beautiful. A must listen.
I love it. It's such a favorite.
Some episodes can be hit or miss if you aren't particularly invested in someone's story, but overall this is an incredibly well-produced show. I love listening to people share their experiences, and it's amazing how vulnerable people are willing to be when in a supportive atmosphere. Love it!
I really enjoy the variety of stories from all kinds of people. Really well done.
This is one of the best
By far the podcast that has me reevaluating my viewpoints the most. Thankful for the work put into this production.
I absolutely love this podcast!! It will make you cry, smile, and laugh.
Listened for years, great podcast.
The stories are incredible, and the storytellers are even better! I'm hooked!
This podcast allows me to see the world through the eyes of many different story tellers. I gain so much perspective about experiences and insights I never may have had myself.
Cannot live without these stories!
This podcast is basically people trying to make unfunny stories funny by telling in front of a live studio audience who laughs constantly at the unfunniness. It's quite annoying. Like someone who constantly laughs at their own unfunny jokes. I couldn't make it through a single episode...and I tried several times.
Seriously, every story has a gay person, trans person, non Christian, Islam believer or someone that only has bad things to say about Christianity. We are talking about a very minuscule group of the population that you are catering to. Where are the stories that the majority of people can relate to??? Very un-relatable.
I only dream of someday being able to tell a story out loud. So for now, I listen. Thanks!
I love the stories, but the banter between stories is annoying.
These stories can be raw, funny, emotional, or silly and they're all real. Brave storytellers!
Never knew I loved to listen until I came across this podcast
I love this podcast. It brings great stories from amazing people to the world. My frustration is that the audio mixing is pretty poor, having portions very loud and others inaudible. I'm only disappointed because I love the content so much. I hope this is improved in the future
This podcast is filled with storytellers that have made me cry as well as burst out laughing. You never know what you are going to get. Love it!
I highly recommend the Moth to any and everyone.
I can't get enough of this show and when I ran through its entire collection I went back to listen to the same shows over again!!
The stories are pretty interesting, but not always. Still some of the guests are funny as all get out. Really hilarious. Sometimes really funny. And frequentluy quite thought provoking.
Huge risk for sobbing at work
I've heard so many stories and have been to moth events. absolutely worth your time to listen or go see!
This is a smart and interesting podcast. highly reccomended A++
I feel like the art of this type of storytelling is lost in modern day Western culture...I didn't know what I was missing. Connects you to the current that binds us all.
So much to love here!
This podcast is a perfect compilation of amazing personal anecdotes! Some wildly hilarious others deeply evocative - and many both! A must have for my next long trip.
Thoughtful, provoking, funny, masterful. I can't say enough. If you want a taste of real life that will pull your heartstrings and make you laugh at the same time. Listen to these masterly storytellers tell real stories
I was somewhat hesitant to listen to this podcast because it didn't sound all that appealing to me. I'm so glad I decided to listen because it's an incredible podcast which takes the listener through the whole gamut of emotions
Beautifully entertaining. Some funny, some bring you to tears. Great podcast.
I love the variety and topics covered in this podcast. The stories bring to life the diversity that makes up the heart of humanity.
This by far used to be my favorite podcast. But the last six months, it's been ho hum. Just seems like the crew is half-adding the program and more interested in its live events. So now I mostly skip it since there are soooo many podcast that don't phone it in.
The Moth is the one pleasure I can count on listening while I work in my studio. Eccentric, funny, soulful and sometimes tearful through these stories my world is bigger.
Hearing a story breaks down the barriers that appear to exist. Thank you, Moth Podcast, for breaking down barriers in my life.
What more could you want? Great stories by real people. I love this concept and am thankful for those who choose to share such personal experiences!!!! I find myself laughing and crying, sometimes at the same time with this podcast, and I love it!!!
These made me laugh and cry - so great
Well produced, almost always interesting.
I'm very disapointed in this podcast. It started so well. Now most of the podcasts are explicit. I won't listen to crude, foul language.
I would never win a slam so I keep it short. Listening to these people made me happy
This podcast connects you to humanity. As you listen to the stories you laugh, cry and remember how wonderful humans are capable of being.
Everyone's story is well-crafted and they will draw you into their experience. How can you feel so much for a person you've never even met, a person that will only be in your presence for a few short minutes and then fade into the background? That's the Moth. Some stories will make you laugh, feel triumphant, shed a tear for their pain, and even make you so uncomfortable you want to turn the episode off. But what The Moth really will show you is that even those background faces, they have a story.
They say you are never too old to keep learning something. The Moth has inspired, encouraged, and educated this 54 year old with the tremendously diverse, engaging and enjoyable stoires told. I actually listen to The Moth episodes while I am working out (vs. the rock n roll) and really feel like I worked out the brain and heart as well! Thank you The Moth! Genius concept wrapped with clever art and skill!
A lot of fun interesting stories, but some stories don't always interest me. Or the stories end up being anticlimactic. Either way it's entertaining, but I can't say every story is totally worth listening too. So that is the reason for 4 stars. Still one of the better Podcast out there to give a listen.
I first heard of this podcast from This American Life. I live listening to the different stories!
Moth has taken over my life - the live events are awesome and I'm constantly trying to pick a story for the weekly themes. Dan Kennedy is annoying - seems like he doesn't like being on the podcast.
I'd love to rate The Moth higher but lately I'm finding that it's hard to know when I'll be in for a comedy or a tragedy that makes me want to cry on my commute to work. It'd be great to have more of a heads up about the truly heartbreaking stuff! I admire how much effort clearly goes into the events and this podcast, though. Many years are behind it and it shows.
so wonderful to hear ordinary people tell the stories that have shaped their lives. thank you for sharing this podcast with the listeners--it is truly unifying and a great expression of the human experience.
This podcast is wonderful. I'm consistently enlightened and moved to understanding and love for my fellow human beings.
I'm a hardcore podcast listener and this one is definitely one of the best! Stories have made me laugh, cry, reminisce, empathize, and much more!
Thank you for doing whatever you do to make this podcast happen. Talk about capturing the human potential... pure gratitude is what I feel whenever I see a new episode has dropped. Gracias.
Thanks for the stories
Something for everyone!
Sometimes hilarious, sometimes heart-breakingly moving, always worth your time.
Sometimes, I can't believe this is all done live. The quality is perfect and the stories are so intriguing. I've felt all of the emotions and enjoyed listening to people become truely passionate about sharing their tale.
Absolutely love these stories! I hang on every word.
I look forward to listening to The Moth each week. It makes my drive into work fly by.
Love the varieties of great stories
Excellent stories, love The Moth.
This episode is a prime example why this podcast is so excellent. I laughed through the first story, felt pain through the second and riveted through the third. Thank you so much!
Love the stories.
This podcast is an emotional roller coaster in the best sense of the phrase. I’ve been inspired, I’ve laughed, I’ve cried. There has rarely been an episode that was perfectly curated. The hour long episodes can at times be intimidating (I personally prefer the smaller 20-minute episodes), but that is in no way a knock on quality. One of the best.
The Moth is hands down my favorite thing to listen to. I get more excited than I probably should when a new episode is posted. Absolutely the best podcast available.
Thank you, Moth for keeping the art of storytelling alive! Real people, real stories, really amazing and touching and funny and sad. All of the emotions!
One of my go-to podcasts!
These folks used to come into my classroom and inspire my students to tell their own powerful stories. Keep up the amazing work.
I truly love this series and am so moved by all the stories! Please keep up the great work!
I don’t know how it is possible to have almost all uniformly great stories as occurs in this podcast. I am always entertained. My heart is often touched. Thanks! What an inspiration!
Give us new episodes everyday
Hard to find a podcast so consistently wonderful.
The storytellers on The Moth are always fabulous! The stories are varied but always make a difference and open my eyes to new aspects of humanity.
Love the variety of stories. Hoping to hone my storytelling skills.
I adore these stories. Such a wide scope of people and experiences. Love love love
I love the stories and relatively mild for family entertainment!
"Don’t change a hair for me not if you care for me…. stay the same little Moth stay” ( Sung to the tune of “My Funny Valentine”) I truly enjoy the Moth podcasts and I’m following your request to come and rate you and suggest any changes…. Thus the above post. Thank you.
I discovered this podcast earlier this year. I am binge listening to all the episodes. One suggestion, you should add a rating, 1 tissue, 2 tissue etc . I have found myself crying in the supermarket while listening to episodes.
My only complaint is that I wish Dan Kennedy would speak more. I love when he hosts and when he tells a story. I replay his stories while cooking at least every other month. This is my favorite podcast!
Love this podcast
Still my favorite.
I am a busy mom, and I don't have time to leisurely sit and read books to escape my reality and engage stories. I stumbled upon the Moth on my local public radio channel on my commute to work and have been hooked ever since. I highly recommend the podcast to anyone who wants to be moved by real people, telling real stories. Raw and alive, these stories touch the heart and share a sliver of the diversity of humanity and the people whom we share this world.
These stories are amazing can't wait to catch a show when I visit NYC!!!!!!
I'm pretty sure each episode has caused me to tear up, then laugh. I love this podcast more than cheese. And guys, I really, really love cheese.
It's one of my favorites.
The Moth radio show is about good story of a wide variety. This podcast tries to pick only the "high brow" stories. Over emotional, policially motivated, "Ted Talk", stories. I think I even heard a canned cause celebre story today.
Great stories! Just listening to "Women in the World" episode and it's great.
Top of my podcast list. In fact, it is the first one I subscribed to. Listen and you'll be hooked. See a live Story Slam, if you can, too.
This is my absolute favorite podcast. I actually save them and listen to all my other podcasts first, then binge listen to this because it's so good! I love listening to people's stories, and this all that!
This podcast makes my morning commute fly by - or makes cooking and cleaning the house entertaining. I love hearing people tell their own stories without the interruption of an interviewer. I travel all over the world with these stories- and peek into people's most precious moments or share their laughter at their experiences and mistakes. Humanity is beautiful and this podcast celebrates it.
The Moth is great!
I love, love, love The Moth! I listen every night as I go to sleep. It’s like people telling me bedtime stories every night. Gives me the kind of comfort that I had when I was little and my mom told me bedtime stories. And every time the hour is done, I wish for more! But I have the local radio station app, so I have a stockpile of Moth pods to roll through every night. Fascinating, personal, funny, touching…all emotions are covered. Keep it up!
So, apparently I'm a (29yrs young) dinosaur and just discovered podcasts. Naturally, The Moth is my first one and it's AWESOME. Just boarded a 14hr flight from Istanbul to Houston and now I've got *real* entertainment. Happy to support NPR/Oregon Public Broadcasting which carries The Moth. Nice to have it on-demand and 100% mobile. Thank you for making this possible!!! So excited!!
Beautiful, enjoyable, thought provoking stories- I always look forward to the new tales each week! I hope you all find your way to Boise some day! :)
I’m always amazed by the quality, variety and passion in these stories. It’s a great way to see (hear) the world.
You’ll laugh. You’ll cry. It’s better than “Cats."
This is the podcasts, that turned me on to all podcasts! Powerful amazing stories! If you enjoy it as much as I do, go to their website and see when they make a trip out to your city!!!
Wonderful sharing of life. A must listen to podcast.
Touching real stories!
This one got me to expend this massive amount of energy (I’m lazy”) This may be the best of about 20 podcasts I have. So well done.
Listening to The Moth makes me feel connected to humanity and more sane.
It makes my long commute pleasant! Thank you!
The Moth is stories; stories about life, love, hate, indifference-- you name it. The original stories are told by people you wouldn't ordinarily hear (and some you would). The podcast gives you glimpses into other peoples' lives. Sometimes touching, sad, happy, inspiring, disheartening.. but always entertaining and worth your time. Do yourself a favor and listen.
But where are the other episodes?
I love all these stories. I lol forward to hearing them and I'm happy to have found this podcast. Thank you
I love this podcast. I've recently become a member of The Moth because I enjoy it so much. Stories are great and the podcast is put together very well
Listened to the podcast and easily became a lifetime listener. I also bought their anthology, and loved that as well. Their stories and storytellers are so honest, original, and well told that they’ve won me over as a lifelong fan.
This is my favorite podcast. It doesn’t come out frequently enough for me. I love listening to stories told well and whether listening while driving or when trying to fall asleep (not a good idea, I know), I frequently laugh out loud. I’ll have to stop listening in bed.
As a lover of printed word I never expected to fall in love with a spoken-word story format but The Moth has had me hooked for years now
I usually am crying but this podcast is great. Always good stories.
Who would imagine that everyday people (and a few pros) could tell such textured, affecting, humorous, heartbreaking stories of survival, love, angst, and the hilarity of living? Highly, highly recommended.
I have no constructive criticism, because this podcast is perfect to me. Every story is executed gracefully and skillfully.
One of the first and one of the best of podcasts ! Enlightens & delights always entertain !
Listen every week, great podcast
This has been my favorite podcast since high school. I will say, I prefer the shorter format episodes especially the story slam favorites rather than the radio hour episodes because I can listen to them when I’m on the train and finish a whole episode rather than hit pause.
Moth podcast is the best! Life would be drab without it.
I love the Moth! It’s awesome to hear the call-in stories people leave on your voicemail. I would really like to hear how those turn out!!
Great stories from real people.
I love this podcast; gets me out of my own world and into other people's worlds. I just have to do the 15-sec skip past the intro music because I can't stand the trumpets/brass section (sorry people). It's so not melodious to my ears. A truly minor issue, thank you fast forward feature. Otherwise, thank you Moth staffers and speakers! I love what you do. You've made me cry, belly-laugh, wince, go "hmm", and be poised on my seat in suspense. I appreciate what you do.
I LOVE listening to The Moth. I've been a loyal listener for several years now, and I always look forward to a new episode. While listening to Moth stories, I've found myself laughing, crying, sometimes both, and every emotion in between. I often hear myself telling stories to friends and family and think to myself, "I should be on the Moth!" Keep up the wonderful, inspiring work!
This is my favorite podcast by far! Don't get me wrong I love all my other podcast but The Moth has something the rest don't have and that is the people that tell the stories that we all can relate to and laugh at. The stories aren't scripted. The stories are real, emotional & funny. By far my favorite podcast. Just give an episode a listen and you will be hooked.
I've been listening to the Moth for years. I love the stories, but I am so tired of the hour long episodes. I actually stopped listening for a while, because I hated the radio hour episodes. However, it is still a great podcast.
I look forward to this podcast every week, one of the best!
I love listening to people's stories. So interesting!
The Moth truly is great. It is only for a lack of time that I do not listen more.
I can't wait for each new episode. Makes my almost-hour commute almost enjoyable.
Love the Moth, it is so addicting!
What is more interesting than people’s stories? Funny, pithy, trenchant tales from all ages, races, and backgrounds. I love the unpredictability of these stories. I never know what I will be hearing next.
I listen to many podcasts and this is, without a doubt, one of my favorites! Real people telling real stories and edited together thoughtfully and carefully.
I love the real stories told by real people!
This is easily one of my favorite podcasts. I often listen to it while I’m cooking and within a one hour time frame, I’ll have laughed, been angry, and cried. I freaking love it. This podcast is the reason why it takes me so long to cook a meal. I’ll simply stop cooking and just stand in the middle of the kitchen, completely entranced by a story. I love it. Thank you
I look forward to this podcast every week.
I love the themes of the compilations that are put together and the stories are always so cool/original/surprising. One of my favorite podcasts!
I love the moth podcast since I can never catch it on the radio! I love being able to listen whenever I want!
Love this podcast!!!
This podcast helps to keep you connected to the human race when the swirling madness becomes a bit much. Stories are told "live" by the subjects, with personal inflections and human flaws on display. Audio is terrific and even the most "amateur" of guests do a great job. A big fan of "This American Life," I first heard of "The Moth" when it was mentioned during a TAL episode. "The Moth" is like the raw/uncut version of TAL. As with TAL, I wait eagerly each week for a new episode to appear. TAL edges out "The Moth" only by a hair, because nothing is more soothing than the sound of Ira Glass' voice. Thank you, "The Moth" for your invaluable contribution to oral literature.
Love the stories. They keep me entertained while I work!
The Moth stands alone in the podcast world. It's light as air and heavy as bricks.
I've been listening to The Moth for 6 years and I adore it. Stories continue to be original and insightful and interesting. A really beautiful snapshot of humanity. Thanks Moth!
The Moth has the best and most compelling live storytelling. They are wonderful stories and invariably succeed in hitting their mark with me.
The Moth is my favorite podcast. It is the first podcast I ever heard, and remains at the top of my list, although I have subscribed to many others. I have been introduced to some of my favorite authors on this podcast (David Crabb, David Sedaris.) Check out a story or two while you are out walking or driving. It will make your day!
Years ago, I found myself in one of the hardest moments life had ever put me through; I'd lost my partner, friends, and job almost simultaneously. Somehow, this podcast made its way into my life at exactly the right moment, in the middle of it all. When I was at my absolute loneliest, this podcast showed me the real beauty of humanity and what it's capable of. It conveys a kind of subconscious empathy that is hard to describe, but can be so incredibly powerful. Listen to this show. Please, honestly, listen to this show.
If you’re stuck at a computer all day retouching photos or whatever else one does for work, this podcast is perfect to keep your mind occupied with incredible stories that are VERY well told. I’m grateful for this podcast and the way they offer stories for all emotions. If you like short podcast, they have 30 minutes episodes. If you’re like me and you prefer longer episodes, they include the Moth Radio hours which means it’s an hour long episode. Enjoy!
I came across this after listening to TAL. Somehow I got lucky. I've been hooked since. My husband and I now listen to it on our way to work in the mornings. The podcast is full of amazing stories. It makes us laugh, it makes us cry, it makes us hold hands a little tighter. Thanks for all you do. Keep them coming.
I am addicted to The Moth Podcast!! I listen to it on my commute to and from work, at home when I’m doing chores or any time I need a spiritual lift. The best part is that it is true stories told by real people. People from all walks of life share their vulnerabilities, their strengths and hope with the listeners and you can’t get more real than that. You get to hear others’ perspective of life which is very educational and informative. When I turn of the podcast I never know when I’m going to laugh, cry, be awed, shocked or inspired but I can always count on being entertained. It’s the best!!!
I am a dedicated podcast listener while commuting, cleaning the house, gardening. The Moth was my first love, I heard it on my local NPR station and then discovered there were episodes to download on iTunes, I’ve never looked back. Thank you.
This is one of, if not my favorite podcast. So many memorable stories that make you laugh, cry, and teach you something.
Not many things in my average (happy) life sustain me as much as these stories. They transform me into other lives and worlds and make me feel connected to people in such a magical way. I laugh and cry throughout. It does wonders to my soul.
listen all the time, with my 12 yr old son, 15 yr old daughter, or my wife. We all love it. Should be in the top 5 podcast ranking.
The Moth is a podcast treasure. The stories are compelling, and somehow, listening feels intimate.
I was introduced to the moth about 2 years ago and I've been hooked ever since. What an awesome way to spend time while you drive or work. I would never be able to hear stories from people from all walks of life anywhere else, or on any other platform. It's such a unique, raw and beautiful way to appreciate people. I'm always waiting for the latest podcast and it's definitely my favorite. Truly a gem everyone should take advantage of.
Ugh, sorry, just a bit of a hook in the title. I'm responding to Catherine Burn's request to rate and review The Moth podcast. Rate it: um, 5 plus plus. Review it: Consistently rips my heart out and shoves it back in, crushes my tear ducts, leaves my ribs sore with stitches and makes me look like I'm breaking from reality watching a movie just above my face. Mind that this is all while walking the track around my 10 year old daughter's soccer practice. I look a loon, but I wouldn't change a thing. I like the full hour episodes mixed with the shorter stitched together ones. The only thing I can think of to add might be contributions from the listeners. Not sure how that'd go. Love it all
I listen to thsi podcast every episode. It is genuine and honest. I appreciate that it is not political lile most podcasts out there.
I love the moth. I listen to it every week and can often be found either laughing or crying hysterically because of a wonderful story I just heard. There is only one thing about the moth that I wish would change and that is Dan Kennedy, whose snarky commentary and general sarcasm ruin the otherwise amazingly honest and open nature of the show. If it weren't for him, I would undoubtedly give the podcast 5 stars.
All I can say is you podcast fills me with my own memories. Stories of events surfaced by your lovely contributors. Thank you
I love listening on my way to work.
Sometimes I have a backlog, but I always make sure to listen to all of them. Some stories are humorous, others sad or poignant, all very human and engaging. I often tell friends about stories I heard on this podcast. Highly recommended!
Give yourself a lovely gift & spend an evening flying to the light with The Moth!! Real people, real lives and real first person accounts that are honest, funny, emotional and loving~~~ Try one: The first story of the Valentine's Day show... Let it break your heart...in a good way. Bless her heart. And she walked away because she loved him. "Are you the fairy?"
I like this podcast, I was thinking they should have more podcasts and not edit so tightly for great/ famous presenter stories, but it seems like they’ve done that recently. So basically, the more the merrier at the Moth party, I don’t care if they’re successful or spectacular.
In each episode, there is almost always a story that moves me to tears. There is almost always a story that makes me laugh. I almost always learn something that I find valuable. These stories are powerful. I am grateful for this podcast!
I've been listening to the podcast for over a year and it's intéressant to heur these stories. LISTEN TO IT!! 👍🏻
This is my favorite podcast show. Whenever asked which podcast I most recommend, this is it. I like the honesty of the individual participants some telling funny stories, others not so funny. It's like having a great chat with friends, learning stories about them you didn't know.
Thanks for a great show. Especially love the full-hour episodes. Rock on.
This podcast I have found very inspiring. There are so many amazing stories told by very diverse storytellers. I already love people and love talking to people and this podcast has further proven to me that everyone has an incredible, heartfelt, and thoughtful story. I love hearing the way other people structure their stories. The Moth provides an excellent opportunity to continue hearing well told stories
I like the Moth, but could really do without the typically two-plus minutes of host Dan Kennedy pontificating about some topic or another. He’s not that interesting to listen to, and certainly he is not the reason why people subscribe to the Moth. Can you consider allocating less air time to his laborious intros, and more to the storytellers themselves?
The Moth Radio was the first podcast I ever heard and is still my favorite. Short stories told by real people that always entertain.
