This show opened my eyes to so many things we don’t learn in school! From unsung heroes to deep dives on pop culture this podcast was everything! So sad it went to a TV model and couldn’t stay as both, idk! Miss you soo much Britney and Eric
For the two years I have listened to this show. Thank you for unapologetically being and celebrating black culture. I have learned and grown so much from this show content. I miss ya’ll.
Thank you for the knowledge and subjects you discuss.
I love this show. sad to see it move on but very happy for them. I will definately be relistening to some of my favorite episodes.
Even if the show is over, the back catalogue is great
Glad I found you two but my bad that I found you so late. The best to you both!
Been rocking with Brittany and Eric ever since For Colored Nerds and they continue to outdo themselves. I thoroughly enjoy the stories of the little know black figures and stories that I would probably have never come across on my own. This show is hilarious, informative and full of gems. You are sure to be delighted if you give this podcast a chance.
Super happy to have discovered this podcast from reading the previous review I didn’t know you all are ending this podcast but have been enjoying binge listening and will do the same with For Colored Nerds 🤗🤗
I started listing to this podcast late 2019 and soon discovered the show was ending, at least in this format. It was sad news, but I’ve really enjoyed the in-depth conversations and pursuit to understand the culture.
I’m devastated to hear that this show is over! The banter between Brittany and Eric is hilarious and fresh and the topics on this show have enriched my life and my history. Thank you the Nod for the laughs and the tears
You were one of my favorite podcasts. I’m so sad for me and very happy for you. You were an important part of my real American history education. You taught me a lot. Thank you.
I am going to miss listening to the show. I truly love this podcast and I’m excited about the new projects that are in store but this is going to be a sad ending . Good luck 👍🏽 😘👋🏽✊🏽
So sad for you guys to leave but so happy you get to grow. We’ll always have to the memories! Hopefully you’re able to remain authentic.
Using curse words as adjectives, or adverbs is seriously disheartening. I would expect and appreciate educated Black Americans to rise above the use of cursing language. It is your personal choice but you would not want a younger generation to follow your example of language. Rise above, as examples to use the thousands of words in the dictionary. If you are interested in going camping, hiking or backpacking respond with your answer. M. J. Leake
This was one of the best episodes I was in tears and I think it was because I always say I’m fine Thank you
A must listen for those who want to see black girl magic and black boy joy normalized and celebrated.
There seems to be plenty of podcasts that cover the U.S. unjust treatment of people of color. But I haven’t come across many that celebrate black culture in such a direct and intentional way. How about we take a break from our soapboxes and take a moment to find the humanity in all races and cultures? This podcast is a great outlet for having real discussions about black culture no matter how silly or serious the subject matter. Keep it up y’all!
Got recommended to your pod while talking about Watchmen on Reddit. Still in the middle of the podcast and the big race empowerment in the show is so bold. I picture the average fan of the Snyder movie and the hardcore comic fans (like myself, 30ish white dude) having a lump in there throughts. The subtle racism is done so well. Now about your podcast, my good sir. I's the bee's knees.
The Nod just feels like the best home. It’s unapologetically Black, without bashing any other ethnicity, but it is clearly FUBU. If anyone else wants to come along, they’re welcome, but it reminds us that Black is everything.
This discussion with a Watchman writer was so needed to unpack or affirm what I thought I was seeing in this extraordinary series on HBO. Excellent discussion.
Stop what you’re doing and listen to this podcast
This podcast is so good. It's like chilling with two of your smartest, funniest friends talking the real. The Illuminati episode? Get out. So hilarious. I'm so glad this podcast is here.
They are so relatable. I can’t get enough of these two.
Just heard the first good for the blacks on Jay Z’s album, and really think it’s weak to continue to portray the message that blacks can’t succeed or participate in the capitalistic system. Yes we have historically, and many cases continue to be, excluded; however, we are at a point in time to where we can take control. The last thing we want is a centralized government. Let’s talk about how we can better shape capitalism rather than moving away from it.
The topics are great and the hosts are hella entertaining. I always leave the show better than I was before.
These two are clearly enjoying themselves which makes the podcast just delightful
This podcast has been transformative and an inspiration. Looking forward to maybe seeing an episode on Mixed-ish from Brittany and Eric.
I love every episode! Love Brittany and Eric! Love the information and love MYSELF more and more each time I consume Blackness and Black greatness in the form in which these two have packaged it up and served it! I already hate this review and am resisting starting over because I feel there really is no way to articulate the value of having “Blacknesses biggest fans” share of the past, present and the personal of Black existence!
Thanks for droppin’ this ep. I had no idea about “The Life and Times.” I truly appreciate it. Check in’ from the (504) from the Westbank of New Orleans. PeAcE
The Nod is my favorite podcast! Eloise Westbrook and all the peanut butter chronicles are excellent. I’ve listened the Oprah’s Legend Ball episode three times. Love, love, love Brittany and Eric!
I came to The Nod as a listener of For Colored Nerds (Brittany & Eric’s original, independent podcast). I loved FCN and really wanted to love The Nod but it’s just not as good. The content on this show seems watered and dumbed down in comparison. It’s just not as interesting.
This podcast takes creative to whole new level. Such a niche area but it’s insane the stories that are shared on this podcast and what a listener is able to learn. I feel Blacker just by listening. Truly a one of a kind show. God bless. Keep spreading your magic through this platform! Love from DC ♥️
I’ve listened to EVERY episode of this show. As a result, I’ve learned about people and events that I had never heard of in my almost 36 years of life. Each episode leaves me wanting more! Thank you for teaching me and so many others about important facts and figures we may not know about otherwise.
Lots of internalized anti blackness on this episode from the male host. You really needed to do a whole episode on proving a Black school was capable of basic education? I’m glad you got humbled.
I’ve been a faithful listener for the past year or so. The Nod provides unique, informative stories. Please have more lives shows
Every time I listen I hear a message I never knew I needed. Sometimes light sometimes deep it is always what I need. Thank you for the work you do!
I absolutely love this podcast. The hosts are smart and funny, they get right to the take-away and organize the show really well - no meandering or confusing side paths. I’ve learned a ton listening. It ranges from heartbreaking to hilarious.
Every episode is amazing.. would pay money for a daily morning show!!!
I learned about The Nod of IG and listen to them on Spotify. This is seriously the most relatable and engaging Podcast I've listened to. I'm hooked! Wish they would do one daily! Check them out.
I heard about this podcast on Good Christian Fun, and I am so glad I did. It is a thoughtful, humorous, pleasant examination into black culture and I am just grateful to live in a time where podcasts like this exist.
Love this show!! I listen to this show all day at work! I’m gonna be sad once I’m all caught up, keep up the good work guys!!
Hands down one of my favorite podcasts. These two are intelligent, funny and have interesting ways of looking at our culture and highlighting what makes us us! It’s a celebration of black culture in the best way possible without putting down anyone else’s culture. Thank you Brittany and Eric, keep on keeping on!
Listen! The Nod is easily one of my absolute favorite podcasts! It’s a deep dive into authentic black culture with out the embarrassing stereotypes. The journalism is so good. Every episode feels like the hood thesis statements on Twitter.
Dear Brittany and Eric, part deux. Every word I wrote in the review below, approximately two years ago, remains true today. UPDATE 2019: Brittany, your thesis and supporting evidence for “the Oprah Legends Ball as the best superhero movie of all time” was genius and pure entertainment mixed with undeniable, beautiful fact. I listened to it on the 40 minute commute home and here’s that epic driveway moment I've heard about; I’ve finished listening but I really really really HAD to write this review before going inside after a long Friday and a longer week. Wow. It’s just too bad that Beyoncé was not at the Legends Ball because she is a youngun fast on the way to Legend status; only thing holding her back might be her relative youth. This ep? “ It really was something” 😉 Eric: f the haters. I love your laugh. Always have, always will. It’s genuine, what I imagine you to be. It’s super endearing and reminds me of Ernie from Sesame Street. Never change. Love you BOTH!! 5/24/19. 🤓😎 ****************** I've listened to every ep of The Nod and FCN. You are *consistently* amazing in content, quality, rapport. I am entertained and enlightened every time. I'm also jealous af. I'm on the outside looking in, wishing I could truly be part of the culture you describe so affectionately.
..love what you do, who you are and what you are about. Your chemistry (bro and sis) is unmatched. Your show informs as well as entertain with each episode. Ear to ear smiles with each cast. So proud!!
I would have given this podcast a 4 star rating if it wasn’t for the annoying laugh of the male cohost! His laugh sounds like he has a fish bone stuck in his throat and he’s trying to cough it out. It’s not a laugh at all! It’s worst than fingernails on a chalk board. The female cohost is engaging, informative, and entertaining. Maybe she should get the guy to change his laugh or do the podcast solo or find another cohost - until one of those things happens...I’m done.
Funny and informative but Eric sounds like a duck when he laughs :(
Fun, informative, respectful! Thank you!
Eric you took me back with this!! At work thinking about my high school days. The A train was their runway 😆👌🏽
Today’s interview with Erika Alexander and My Black Robot friend Are two of my favorite episodes! ❤️
I love this commentary. It’s well thought out and great dialogue. The guests are amazing also. I’m so happy that their is a platform for such intelligent black people to communicate with us the community. I absolutely love this podcast.
This podcast makes black people sound stupid as hell , racist on top of everything. Thank you but no thank you .Id rather listen the baby shark song on repeat for a whole year.
I am a big fan of the show. The hosts are the best friends I’ve never met. Often they will cover a topic, then my whole viewpoint expands and sometimes changes. The cultural conversation so is refreshing and makes me love my culture even more.
I love listening to Brittany. She makes me laugh every time she’s on. She needs to be on all the time! This is an intelligent, fun podcast. Especially like the episodes on pop culture and with guests in front of a live audience!
This podcast is so, so special! One-on-One really brought tears to my eyes and inspired me to talk to my own parents about their stories. I think we should all understand our parents, even in brokenness. Amazing job!
Thanks for making a wonderful podcast -
This is easily my favorite podcast. The stories are always intriguing, and I learn so much. And all about US. ✊🏾
I look forward to this every week. Thank you Brittany Eric and the podcast team for this excellent much needed and very special podcast.
The Nod is a wonderful reflection of Black culture today and yesterday. What I find most valuable is that they capture all relevant experiences from colorism and good hair to music and fashion history and so much more. I’ve selfishly and secretly loved this show. For several months I listened without reviewing so that YOU can be blessed by this. But I can’t keep it to myself anymore. Today y’all... I listened to “A Madea Homegoing” and I felt the need to testify! It was perfect. I feel joy! I feel uplifted! And I feel understood! Go listen. Thank you Brittnay and Eric.
I feel like I’m listening to my own friends who happen to be super knowledgeable. Love the chemistry of these two. So happy to have found this podcast.
I was first introduced to The Nod when the "Blue Pill" episode came out, and was immediately hooked. It's got amazing production quality, and the hosts have great chemistry and personalities. The hosts also have wonderful voices which, for me, is a most important quality for podcasts. I'd love to hear audiobooks narrated by Brittany and Eric!
Eric’s hairball laugh is enough to make me throw my phone out of the window. It’s hard to get through my first episode. I’m enjoying the content but the laugh kills me.
I have been reading Romance novels since I was eleven years old. I swiped them from my mom and her sisters. Then got my own subscription. I still read them and love that my collection goes back to my pre-teen years. Kelli Houston TX
i'm one of those heathens that usually only leaves a review when I need to denouce something. Yall are everything. I relate to both of your individual points of view so much. Eric and I share our Louisiana heritage and Brittany is my Scorpio sister if my memory serves me right. Yall are on my frequency and I'm so happy that your show has been so successful. Keep up the great work, yall exemplify black excellence to the 9th degree! Sending yall all the good vibes etc!
Hosted by Brittany Luse and Eric Eddings. The Nod is a beautifully crafted podcast that explores the complicated and beautiful aspects of Black life. Each episode Brittany and Eric tell the stories of black life that don't get told anywhere else. From stories of their own life and others all through history. I love this show because they don't sugar coat anything and are honest about every subject they cover. - Podcast Junkie
I love! This podcast! Of course I wish it was an hour long :)— I am a runner and listen every time I go out— good info, laughs, some serious, some easy— I love the variety! Keep up the good work!
I am a 66 year old white woman who finds your podcast irresistible! It’s so well produced and both hosts are very articulate. Good production and professional hosting are a high priority for me but I also love the subject matter and learning more about my fellow human beings from their own perspectives.
True to Gimlet's form in providing high quality podcasts, this one is very enjoyable listening, even if you're not black. I am an old white lady (59) and the 2 hosts are so funny, endearing and appealing. I love their voices and humor. And bonus: the show helps inform me about current pop culture, so I can better understand and relate to my kids, younger coworkers & others.
I love this show it celebrates blackness properly. ✊🏾
I love their chemistry. I’ve learned quite a lot from this podcast.
Too New York, too hip-hop centered for my liking. After listening to a few episodes, I realized it’s about black people for people that don’t know (about) black people.
Such a great podcast. It makes me think. I’m a “white girl” and they talk about issues I didn’t know that were out there.
I used to like it a lot more, but it seems like they have gotten a lot lazier and instead of putting together interesting/funny episodes they just sit around and talk about TV shows or movies they like.
I look forward to this podcast every week! I love learning how to get my life together from Brittany and LOVE Eric’s laugh- that could pull me out of a bad mood any day!!!
Been listening to these two since their “For Colored Nerds” day. Love them and their choice in commentary and guests!
Informative, yet fun loving.
I've learned about a lot of pieces of culture I didn't know about, and loved the new perspective on pieces I did know about. The hosts are really charming. This white lady loves The Nod!
I have seriously learned so much American black history listening to this podcast. To date, the deep dive into knuck if you buck is one of the best podcast episodes I’ve ever heard.
Someone suggested this podcast on Facebook & I am really enjoying it. I’m going to listen to the old podcast from the other one as well. I am loving this ❤️
This podcast is informative and refreshing. There are new topics that I wasn’t privy to or even thought about that effect me in some way. I wish I felt this sense of belonging when I was growing up. It would’ve made a world of a difference. Black Nerds Unite!
I’ve just started but I am looking forward to catching up on every episode.
This American Life for Black folks is how I describe the Nod. Eric & Brittany have great audio rapport and they cover a wide variety of topics that speak to Black folks. Consistent quality every week.
I LOVE this podcast! Brittany & Eric are funny and perceptive, speaking of things that interest them. And, I tell you what, what interests THEM interests ME!
Have enjoyed listening to this show for a long time, and the stories lately that go deeper into black history and culture have been really excellent!
I don’t know which they make me do more of, laugh or think. Because of The Nod I look at Kenan Thompson in a new light & LOL’d during the morning commute listening to the ROMCOM episode. Either way I find a respite here from the hostile banter that some media outlets seem to thrive on.
Only trash show gimlet produces
I've been listening to The Nod since the beginning! It's an extremely well-produced podcast. I've taken in a lot of great information about black culture and icons while getting a great smattering of laughs as well. Brilliant job. Also, it's wonderful to hear a couple close friends mix it up! Keep up the good work!
Brittany and Eric's dynamic is great, and I love the mix of deep dive topics. Smart and new information, but fun and a pleasure to listen to. Similar in tone to Reply All.
You feel like friends. I’m a white middle aged privileged woman & feel so grateful that you are sharing your friendship & insights. In depth stories are so well done & playful musings are delightful.
I discovered this podcast via an intro on another Gimlet podcast, and the truth is I was prepared to not really like it. I just assumed it with be black culture as told by African Americans as allowed by White people. I was so wrong. Not being familiar with the previous work of the host I had no basis for what to expect, but Brittney and Eric are funny, entertaining and smart. I enjoy almost every episode and look forward to more each week. Thanks.
Love this. Top 5 podcasts and has been for a while.
🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 Such a refreshing take in blackness and the complexity of it all. Nothin’ but love y’all Love the most recent episode with Casey! Wow! Just wow! Keep it up y'all, he spoke to me.
This podcast is so amazing, it smart, funny and thoughtful. The host have great chemistry.
I just finished the “Nobody Looks Like Me” episode and I’m in tears. Listening to this definitely gave me even more context. I’m from Chicago but like most black families my people came from Memphis and my great aunt attended La Rose Elementary in the 50’s. I still experience racism and sexism everyday as I’m getting older I’m afraid of what might happen to my future children. Good luck to Eric and his little peanut.
The Nod has nestled its way into the FCN-shaped hole in my heart, and life is good again. Thanks to Brittany, Eric, and everyone who makes this podcast possible
This show has gone through a great evolution; the crime mob episode is one of my favorites!
Honestly you all make me so proud to be black !!! I wasn’t sure how you could top the Beyoncé concert episode or the episode highlighting Levar Burton as the 🐐 of TV but this podcast never disappoints ! I’m a proud Halfrican ( half Nigerian Igbo +half black american ~by way of Flint, Michigan) born & raised in rural Selma Alabama . I adore this show . From the time you all promoted this show on “another round”, I subscribed and have been beyond impressed each episode . The southern accent in Eric’s voice makes me both nostalgic + homesick! Brittany’s compassion and interjections during any segment are as beautiful and unapologetic as Beyoncé’s obvious supremacy in the music industry . I’ve recommended the “Oral history of crime mob /Knuck if you buck” to all my med school friends, patients , and family . I appreciate y’all ! Your show is empowering , informative and fun 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
I listen to a LOT of podcasts, and I tend to binge them, so I always need more. Found “The Nod” last week, and I already can’t eat enough. Love these really unique and informative stories. Favorite so far was about Moo and Oink! The one about the Hairston family was great, too!
GREAT show, great journalism, and fantastic chemistry between the hosts.
It’s hilarious. It’s insightful. It’s everything you need from a podcast.
I am the most vanilla white girl and I love this podcast! Brittany and Eric are so funny and their friendship is so delightful. I came across The Nod when it was recommended on another great Gimlet show, Uncivil. As a history lover who wants to learn more about the real black history of America, both shows have been tremendously educational and eye-opening. The Nod especially, though, has really moved me and excited me in so many ways. I am so grateful to have you guys to listen to and learn from! Thanks for being awesome.
The two part about the lady from Lexington, NC hit really close to home. Give us more!
I’m coming from Memphis TN my best friend and I LOVE your show. We’ve been tuning in around 3 years now since For Colored Nerds. I don’t have twitter sooooo yea I can’t reach out on there but we love you guys!!!!!!!!!!!
I am learning a ton from your show about black culture in America. I grew up in a mainly white area in Florida, but I spent the last decade in Europe where race issues are quite different. That broke down a lot of my inadvertent walls. Now that I’m back in the US of A, I want to continue to grow in my concepts of race and humanity. I love your storytelling, especially peanut butter history and good for the blacks! Thank you!
Love Eric and Brittany, love their interactions and banter, love the variety of topics. Thumbs up!
I mean... I thought Reply All was my fav, but honestly I just love the nod. I love the stories and their chemistry, but I also love how generous they are with storytelling and welcoming so many voices into the conversation. I also love how much I laugh and feel.
I just started listening this past week, and I have already burned through their entire library of podcasts. I loved every single one. Great show!
I love this show. Its funny, its silly, its serious and thoughtful and sometimes its over the top but I enjoy it all!
Different perspectives, serving knowledge and laughter.
Found the podcast through another Gimlet podcast Uncivil Show! What great recommendation! I never knew who was the DJ at the Paradise Garage was but I know I partied to DJ Larry Levan’s mixing at the Garage circa 1982-84, from the wee hours of the morning until noon! A car load of us would drive up to The Garage after a frat party at Rutgers and dance the nite/morning away! We even took a change of clothes with us! Thank you for sharing Reggie’s and Larry’s story! I listen to this episode in between the Harriston episodes 1 and 2! The nod ain’t no joke!
I have to say I may be “The Nods” number one fan. I look forward to each and every episode. You will not get enough of the great topics and the bantering between the cohosts. Do yourself s favor and listen.
The fantastic hosts, Brittany and Eric, have really found their format. Only podcast I have to listen to as soon as the latest shows up.
Found out about Nod when uncivil released an episode that Nod had done. I came over and listened to it and it’s part two episode and have to say I sincerely hope this isn’t the last time Gimlet, Nod, Uncivil or other pods under the Gimlet umbrella, team up with Everly. I’d listen to an entire podcast about the history of her family and the epic reunions that happen. Please bring us more from Everly, in the mean time, I’ll get caught up on Nod!! Once again Gimlet, excellent job!
The Nod is one of my go-to shows. Great stories, A+ hosts, and excellent off-week sound collage minisodes!
Love listening to Brittany and Eric sharing unknown stories from the black community. Each episodes feel like hanging out with long lost friends. I appreciate this podcast so much since I live in an area where there aren’t many brown faces at my job or in my town. Keep the episodes coming!
This show is THE best show in the podcasting universe. Just so y’all know. Goin’ head and listen.
Thanks yang hope but Yu yaytu
One of the best podcasts out right now! I look forward to each new episode!
I absolutely love you guys! Your topics are always entertaining and make me enjoy my drive home from work.
Not only do I get a black history lesson but I get some comedy with it. My fave is the “Good or bad for the blacks” segment! Love this podcast.
My 2018 best rated favorite not so guilty pleasure. Love!
...but never would have if not for your logo design that jumped out at me. Shopping around on iTunes main page I couldn't get interested in anything. So in a rare moment of semi-cynical deliberate randomness I thought yes, i'm going to take a listen based only on the logo design. Nothing to lose. And now I'm happily binge listening.
A wonderful celebration of cultural identity.
First let me say I love the show! Now, how can you guys say Don lemon is bad for the blacks but you guys are advertising for Planned Parent Hood? Im pretty sure you guys know the history of that “ Organization “🤷🏽♂️
Regarding the Don Lemon episode: I disagree that Don Lemon has changed. I think your scenario is less about before and after and more about what we should be doing for ourselves vs how other people should be treating us. - 01/09/18 Gimlet knocks it out of the park again. Well done team. Love the show, the chemistry, the topics and the entertainment. Here's my nod to you! - 07/18/17
Hate that these young people seem so smugly certain what’s good and proper and “woke”, but as they seem unwilling to do, I give em that.
I just found this podcast recently and I find it fascinating. I love to learn new things and this podcast gives me that. It looks at the many complexities of the black experience and takes the time to explain and explore the topic. I can’t wait to continue my process of catching up on all the podcasts I have missed. I have enjoyed every podcast I have listened to so far, but the Hairstons podcast touched me the most because my family’s history as does many other African-Americans has many parallels to that story. Please keep up the good work and I will keep listening.
I’m so picky, and this podcast is amazing. The hosts are mesmerizing, the stories are fascinating and I can’t get enough.
I love the hosts. They’re super funny, incredibly intelligent, and they have a great rapport. Started off with the two-part story about the Hairstons and couldn’t stop listening to the rest of the episodes. The Nod has quickly become one of my favorite podcasts.
I liked Brittany when she was doing Sampler, but occassionally I felt it kind of hard to relate to some of the conversations with guests, because I felt like a bit of an outsider as a white guy. (That was kind of interesting, actually – it made me think about the ways in which other people feel like outsiders in contexts where I don't.) With this podcast, though, I feel like I'm being invited in. Somehow they've struck the right balance between educating the ignorant like myself and being thoroughly entertaining (great chemisty between Brittany and Eric). The recent two-episode sequence on the Hairstons and the Harstons was a masterpiece, and I am now a total fan-boy.
Can't wait for more!
This podcast has been 1 of only a few bright spots for me during this very difficult year. Looking forward to the new episodes in 2018.
Sometimes this is great, more often than that it's petty, shallow and classist.
Great podcast. Today’s podcast on Reggie O was good. There was literally an article about his passing today (12/20). I wish the podcast was longer
I look forward to new episodes and already relisten to my favorites! Love this podcast!
These two Episodes about The Hairstons were amazing along with all your other work. You guys went above and beyond with that story. I’m subscribing to the newsletter right now!!!
Brittany and Eric keep getting better and better! The stories are well produced, narrated and directed. Thank you for delivering these untold stories with dignity and professionalism. I’m so proud of both of you and how your journey is developing. But what else should I expect from two Howard Bison (c/o 2001). Continued blessings.
Omg I loved loved loved Snakes on a plantation and Diary of a mad black cousin ❤️❤️❤️❤️
The best podcast for black folk. And Calid B did the theme music ayyyyy yaya! 😆
This is a great new show from Gimlet. The dynamic between the two hosts is fun, hilarious and entertaining. I keep wanting to listen. Love the new flavor of Gimlet's newest show. The two part episode about Ever Lee Hairston was amazing history telling. You are doing a great service to culture in these challenging times.
I am always looking for a black voice in podcasts that range from ratchet on up to fully engrossed and intellectually filled. Most of the times, I find one or the other. Rarely do I find both. This is the most perfect podcast that I have found that soothes both of those cravings. The two of you get it. And not only do you get it, you make it funny and palatable to way that is deeply true to my generations memories that I identify with. I have listened to all of the episodes in less than 48 hours & shared it an unknown number of times. You’ve got a huge fan in me. Looking forward to what comes next. P.S., we have had several rounds of “Good for the blacks” at my kickbacks. Thanks for that!
Love the segment Bad for the blacks? And I love this podcast
It's funny, it's deep, it's relevant and informational. Love you guys for putting this out there!
Just amazing. Thank you for your work.
I love The Nod, Eric and Brittany do an amazing job, as do all those behind the scenes I'm sure. Love every episode - The Nod teaches me about so many thing I do not know, it makes me laugh and it makes me even cry sometimes. It is on my prime list for weekly listening.
I love this show, and I love the joy and mutual affection Eric and Brittany bring to their banter. Great topics and great discussion.
Smart, well produced pdcast with one of the dumbest segments in recorded history. The Peanut Butter History segment is like listening to someone barf in reverse while gasping for air. It comes of like Saw: the podcast. Subbed for the Grape Drink episode, unsubbed for the Peanut Butter segments.
I love your new show. Ourstory being told by amazing storytellers.
Disappointed when Sampler ended but like The Nod more. Great stories.
I love your podcast! I love your chemistry, i always learn and laugh a ton -- your history lessons are awesome -- and obviously it isn't why you're doing it, but this white girl truly appreciates all of your educating and explaining and sharing. I wrote a longer review with specific examples, but then my iPad disappeared the whole thing, soooo this is it. Thank you, seriously love your podcast, I never miss an ep ❤️❤️
a fun celebration of black culture and history. inspiring and delightful.
I'm fairly new to the realm of Podcasts, and The Nod has quickly become one of my faves. Brittany and Eric seem like old friends with the new ideas I crave. Such witty and entertaining commentary on topics across the board. Love it.
It took a while to track down my favorite "For Colored Nerds" duo, but I'm so happy I found them again. Their deep dives into contemporary and historical issues of their closing makes this such an honest podcast. Whether or not I like the segment (that Peanut Butter History thing was weird) I always know hey are having a great time researching and producing. I also love supporting black podcasts. Thanks for the laughs and smarts y'all!!
I love that the focus of this podcast is essentially black people and black culture. Representation matters.
I am only a few episodes in but I have to say that I LOVE the content. My favorite segments thus far is good for the blacks. I would love an opportunity to be on the show and talk about black things.
Smart and funny! xoxo Gooooo BISON!!!❤️💙
Good For The Blacks are some of my favorite episodes. Hearing hilarious debate about random topics are amazing.
All of Gimlet’s shows are so well-produced and The Nod continues that tradition. I love the hosts’ rapport with each other and the way they make you feel like you’re in the booth with them, and the way they tackle both serious and light-hearted topics. One of my top podcasts.
This show immediately became a favorite. I listened to all the episodes and then listened to them again when there weren’t any I hadn’t yet heard. Waiting is hard when you find something real, funny, interesting and thought provoking. More, please!!!
This is where education and comedy combine forces!
I love The Nod. The repartee of the hosts is hilarious and I’ve learned a lot!
Fabulous! Thanks so much for discovering this jewel! Beautifully told.
I think the The Nod could be called This Black American Life. Whole Hog and A is for Afrocentric are stellar examples of how entertaining storytelling can also be informational and thought-provoking. I love this podcast and I went to Hampton, so you know this was difficult for me to admit.
I’m so glad that I’m reunited with B & E!!!!
This is a podcast that makes me lol, go “huh” “wow” “that makes so much sense” “now I get it”...learning, laughing and enjoying every minute. Thanks!
I listened to For Colored Nerds and was so sad that it ended. I love them. I love how they approach culture. I love their chemistry.
Another great show from Gimlet. I'm so hooked and binge listening right now. Almost cried during the Beyoncé conspiracy episode 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 So excited for more. Since I'll be through all current episodes by the end of the day, please make more.... ASAP!
This is my new favorite podcast!! After binging every episode, i'm hungry for more! Brittany and Eric are intelligent, relevant and hilarious. They are multi-talented awesome people who I feel lucky to get to listen to their shows. Keep it coming!!!
Love this podcast. The hosts are great and it's very funny, and the subject matter is always interesting.
Reflective, informative and hilarious... I just LOVE this podcast. This feels like the podcast that I've always wanted to exist, but never knew about before. The topics are both random and provocative and the hosts are so real. If you haven't listened to it yet, you're not living your best life.
I love listening to this podcast. It’s always well done. The hosts have a conversational academic style that keeps me listening even when I’ve arrived at my destination. Also, purple stuff has been my favorite my entire life and this episode was fabulous. I keep my fridge stocked with NuGrape and no one seems to understand my obsession. Thank you for the beautiful NuGrape song!
It works! I’d love more episodes more often.
I love this podcast--right up there with Reply All & Invisibilia, Hidden Brain, Another Round, By the Book... thoughtful, entertaining, funny and kind.
Happened to hear about this duo on Another Round, yesterday! Now obsessed and binging alll episodes!
Great podcast! I listen to it has soon has it drops. The hosts are great together. Have truly enjoyed every episode. Keep up the good work y’all.
Funny and deep
I've listened to most of the first season - excellent story telling and dialogue. Love the hosts' banter and the way they trade off on the mike. Really good research into sometimes obscure topics.
Mostly, I love The Nod. I really do. I so want to give this podcast 5 stars. Until every so often (too often) E&B waste our time recounting some drunk escapade of theirs. I get it: y'all're BFFs and grown and like to hit the sauce sometimes. Lots of folks do and I could drop in to any bar or frat hole and listen to some fool ramble on about their own inebriated adventures. And is it ever interesting? No. Maybe to the yokel telling the tale, but not to the rest of us. And it's not interesting on The Nod and seriously degrades the show and us the listeners. I seriously want to bump this review up to 5 stars. Because I know you can do better.
I love this podcast! It’s two friends having conversations similar to what I would have with my friends. Interesting and new things shared! Please keep it coming.
The podcast is EVERYTHING.
I feel like it would be cool to kick it with Brittany and Eric. The podcast masterfully blends homie antics with artful and compelling storytelling; ‘tis also quite relatable.
As a white women this show is one of my all time favourites the host are entertaining, smart, honest & kind as they let people like me learn about their culture. I LOVE it. And I always look forward to the next episode.
My best friend and I have a Podcast called Confession Session that we have been doing for a little over a year now consistently that started in 2009- and we keep it real just like you two! I asked him what are some good Podcasts out there and he mentioned “The Nod”, “Angela Rye” and “Code Switch” . I listen to all three but by far The Nod is the funniest. The quality is extremely amazing and your stories are awesome! I know how it is to have a life but I would truly enjoy listening to you all more often – like daily Monday through Friday! I’m consistently holding my royal head up high in a work community where my presences makes the company diverse and “The Nod” is how I typically get through the day sanely! Love you guys - Angel Vonndrina
Love love LOVE The Nod! Definitely feel like Brittany & Eric are part of my crew and the pod cast is happening in my living room! I put my whole network on to the nod! We need this!
This show is actually my life. I'm a freshman in college and when I get out of class the first thing I want to do is watch this show and when I'm in class I'm thinking about this show. I love it. I would give the show 10 stars if I could.
I've binged all the episodes, and can't wait for more!!
This is one of my favorite podcasts! I've been a fan of Brittany and Eric since I discovered For Colored Nerds about a year ago, and they never let me down! Listening to them talk is like listening to two friends chat about new black ish they've discovered and wanna share. I love this new setup and they always find some interesting people/topics to cover. Can't wait to see where else they go!
I look forward to this every week - it's rare to find something that's simultaneously FUN and INTERESTING at the same time. LISTEN!!
Brittany and Eric are just fun to listen to while I am getting a dose of cultural education from amazing people I don't have daily conversations with. Thanks!
Fire not only bc it dissects our culture in a meaningful way but discusses topics we all talk about and views it in ways I never thought about ! GREAT PODCAST UNEEDA LISTEN!
OK so some of the stories are really good but the ones that are not really good are really bad EX: Greetings Brothers. It's almost a waste of time to listen if the hosts were any less genuine and fun to listen to it would be a total loss. I love that it's a podcast about blackness and that is probably the only reason I continue to listen. Along with the great hosts
A fun way to learn about black culture. The hosts have great chemistry and the show appeals to every race. Definitely a must-listen!
You guys are great, to hell with the haters, keep up the good work!
Heard you guys on 'Another Round' and as soon as I listened to the first show, I hit that SUBSCRIBE button.
Love this. More people gotta listen.
I'm two episodes in and already a fan!! Can't wait to listen to all the episodes & so proud to hear a fellow Howard alum 💁🏾❤️
Longtime FCN listener and I'm just not into The Nod. It's too obscure and kinda dry comparatively.
This show is one of a kind. I love everything they talk about. It’s beautiful and light hearted and a break from the insanity we must live everyday right now.
I would listen to Brittany Luse read the Yellow Pages. Sampler was one of my favourite podcasts and she had a way of making me look into things that I had previously not even been remotely interested in. Now she's back at it again on this new Podcast and it's everything. If you're looking for an episode to listen to and get hooked, check out: Battle at Versailles. Even if you hate fashion, battles, France, whatever -- you. will. be. into. it.
The "Chopsticks" remix at the end of "Hello My Brothas" betrays the care put into the seemingly casual production. Super well-done, very funny.
I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, where the demographic is as white as the landscape. (Whiter, because the winter only lasts 6 months, whereas the homogeneous culture is perennial.) The Nod is my window into a world otherwise inaccessible to me. I laugh, I learn the proper use of slang I see on social media, and I go away with my mind opened.
I love listening keep it up !!
Thank you for a well rounded and entertaining view of our world!!
Being white, surrounded entirely by white culture in a rural FL county, there is no opportunity for me to broaden my exposure to other cultures. The Nod is a safe way to get a peak at black lifestyle.
Loved sampler. Love the nod. Binge listening right now. Thank you!!!
I'm probably not the target audience, but I really enjoy this podcast. Smart, funny and most of all educational. Keep them coming
I genuinely appreciate that this show tells interesting stories about authentic black experiences. Every episode has been a thoughtful representation of our culture. I'm such a fan! Keep up the good work. My only real critique is of gimlet media not promoting this show across the podcast network like ALL of the other new releases. I'm subscribed to startup, reply all, and science vs, but heard about this show on NPR's All Things Considered. 🙁
This is an incredibly uplifting and informative podcast. I find myself aware of when I give folks "the nod" and it fills me with pride.
Great podcast, I highly recommend giving it a listen!
This is a hilarious, smart, light hearted, fun and fantastic podcast that definitely helps me through my work days! Great job y'all
I totally forgot to check in with the start of this show after FCN finished and I love it! I just finished binge-listening to all the epiosdes and they are the best. I love the regular extra commentary and how they break down history with all of their extra! The funniest episode is the "brothas" episode where they have the youtuber conspiracy theorist vs. the die-hard IG Beyonce fan. I had to stop working just to laugh and cry all at the same time, my stomach hurt so bad from laughing...oh good times!!! So proud of them!
Such a refreshing podcast with unique topics.
I love everything about the show except the Peanut Butter History because I really do not like people eating in my ear. Other than that, great job
Great podcast with 2 hosts with great chemistry. Love it.
So glad Brittany Luse is back! This show is real good. I waited to save up some episodes so I could binge em all at once.
I'm so hooked! Tremendously intertwining, informative, and hilarious. The two hosts are charismatic af. I will warn that there is a serious risk of becoming angry that Eric isn't your best friend.
Where has this podcast been all my life? I love each episode more than the previous one!
Love that Gimlet Media is staying true to its commitment to diversity. This show is straight bananas. Love the chatter, love the subject matter, love the research, and I learn something new with every show. Definitely a must listen for everyone... but especially African-Americans born in the 1970s & 1980s. Thank you for this show.
Could listen to outtake episodes all day!!! Love love love these hosts
I just started binge listening to For Black Nerds, and then I found out y'all made a new show, that comes out weekly😁 I LOVE IT!!!
Funny, creative, engaging, and thought-provoking. I love this podcast.
I listened to host, Brittany, on Sampler and the thing I loved about that podcast was her. I was very disappointed when she was off the air with Gimlet. Gimlet smartly put her in another podcast. I look forward each week to hearing Brittany and her co-host discuss topics big and small. I feel like I'm a fly on the wall listening to people I wish I was friends with. Thanks for sharing your life and most importantly for teaching me about Black culture.
Eric and Brittney have an amazing dynamic. I just recently started listening and it's now one of my new favorite podcasts!
I LOVED the "For Colored Nerds" podcast because it was a brilliantly balanced conversation between two friends talking about things I was interested in in a way that I truly valued. Now, it seems like it's Eric's show and Brittany is his not-really-headlining sidekick. This isn't about Eric at all. He's a great host and talent. But it's definitely become more of a one-sided conversation and I miss the highlighting and celebration of Brittany's voice that was so present on "FCN". Hopefully, they'll find the balance again soon, otherwise I'll probably just stop listening. xx
I loved Eric and Brittany on For Colored Nerds and was so sad to hear the pod was ending. But this new gig is great. They are the same engaging hosts, bringing us real stories with insight and charm. Long may The Nod reign.
Great fun, really interesting stories and segments.
I started with the "Chitlins at Bergdorf's" episode, then binge-listened the rest. Funny and fascinating - especially the live show.
5 Stars go to The Nod for refreshing, intelligent, and hilarious cultural commentary!
I've been listening to and loving The Nod, especially the "Chitlins at Bergdorfs" episode, which told an amazing story with excellent dramatic timing, music, and voices. I would highly recommend this show to anyone! It's interesting, educational, and a lot of fun. The hosts have great chemistry too. Just listen!!
Took me awhile to start this podcast but now I can't wait for it to come out
Eric and Brittany are hilarious and delightful. The pacing and flow of the show is on point. Love love love!
Great opportunity to listen to your favorite hosts from 'For Colored Nerds'
This show is great. I've enjoyed every episode and learned a lot too! It's a really fun listen. I look forward to hearing the hosts crossover into other Gimlet shows and I hope this show sticks around for a long time.
Try it you'll love it.
The voices of The Nod (formerly of For Colored Nerds) announced the beginning of this podcast and I wasn't sure what to expect. I am pleased by the result of this effort. The subjects and honest conversation from and to a black perspective as well as an honest look at divergent responses to the Black experience is necessary. This podcast is recommended and please subscribe.
I've listened to a LOT of Brittany and Eric on For Colored Nerds, and I'm so glad they've taken conversations about blackness to Gimlet!
Just started listening and really love it Great Podcast informative, funny, informational....great entertainment
A great listen.
Great, smart, funny, political, astute - voice of reason and passion and sass, so glad this exists!
❤️ another hit from Gimlet Media!
Simply put, this is an awesome podcast.
Great name, great content, great chemistry! Relevant, compelling, entertaining, educational, enlightening.
I didn't know what to expect when For Colored Nerds ended and they switched to The Nod. But, I LOVE it! It's like like FCN came up, and the production quality is so much better. Congrats Brittney & Eric!
Thank you. More please.
These two have great chemistry and talk about some really interesting and current topics that not a lot of other podcasts touch on.
Glad to hear Brittany back on the air!!!
I listen to a lot of podcasts and made it my business to find more podcasts about my culture which led me to For Colored Nerds, which then led me to The Nod! I adore the hosts chemistry and banter and the way they bring forth issues as light as they can... Don't get me wrong, when it needs to be heavy, it's heavy and that's what's great about this show! Thanks!
Love this lively podcast. So funny and yet true.
Hilarious and eye opening.
The is exactly the podcast I have been looking for... I get educated every episode. Brittney Loose is an excellent storyteller (I've liked her since Sampler), but with Eric as her counterpart the show seems to flow better. I really enjoy how they kind of riff off each other. The show is equal parts entertaining and educational. I would highly recommend this show.
When Sampler was over I literally gasped aloud from shock and sadness. So so so happy to have Brittany back in my ear, and wonderful to have Eric's voice too. The whole show, especially Good for the Blacks, is such an accessible, educational and entertaining break down of what it's like to be black in America (for context, I'm brown in America). I'll listen to anything Brittany puts out and tell everyone to do the same.
Made me laugh out loud and shout "yes!!" by myself in my car. This is my new must-listen each week!
A really good, funny podcast 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I love the show and I was a huge fan of For Colored Nerds 🙏🏿 RIP. I've loved all of the episodes thus far. The content is on point. I'd never heard of some of the stories you've covered and I studied history/black culture in college. Here's the but. Sometimes you folks sound like Alex Blumberg. Maybe it's the format of gimlet podcasts in general or something else. I will say don't lose your personality in the approach. You two rock though. This show is definitely good for the blacks.
This is exactly what you want from a podcast. The hosts are funny and personable and honest. The topics are interesting, they can get deep, but they can be hilarious too. Really enjoy it, just wish there were more episodes for me to catch up on!
Love love love -
I love Brittany I'm glad she got a new show. You will be laughing every episode while getting a thoughtful well put together podcast
See above lol
Love this show!
This is a very good, short form podcast that delivers the personality of the hosts' previous show "For Colored Nerds." It's like a shot version of well-curated topics that are more off beat than the usual "hot topics" and current events delivered from other podcasts.
Brittney's opinions and storytelling are unabashedly fresh. The stories are obscure in a way that is cool. I learn something new from each listen and I laugh along, every time.
I'll try anything Gimlet puts out, but this one is a keeper. Brittany and Eric have great chemistry - a ittle flirty but almost like siblings - and I could listen to them talk about anything. But the subjects they choose are so rich, the facinating elements of black culture we don't get to hear enough about. And I love Eric's snorty little giggle - adorable!
Definitely enjoying every episode, and watching my phone for the next episode each week.
As a white woman, I understand that a lot of what I was taught regarding Black culture was really the repetition of ridiculous stereotypes. It's so wonderful to be able to learn more and move past these damaging clichés from experts who love and live Black culture. Thank you for your work!
I cannot wait for next episode.
Okay, we loved the Nod already, but um, for real, you need to stop reading this review & immediately listen to this podcast & this particular episode will turn your entire day around and make you happy to be alive! Hysterical, smart and just charming and warm and the respect that these 2 great friends pay to everyone - no matter how crazy they might be - remind you to be a better you:) LOVE IT!
I love everything about this podcast
Just started listening to this show and I'm hooked. The hosts are incredibly funny and smart. Don't want to sound like "the more you know" but I'm a white guy and have really learned a lot.
I am an African American, single female, with three kids. And I love this show. I hate that I am just now finding it but I am in. Thank you Eric & Brittany!
Here from a recommendation from Reply All. Gimlet puts out great content. Love this podcast for showcasing other cultures and perspectives, plus it's just a fun podcast to listen to!
I love this podcast!
I have been waiting for Brittany and Eric to make their return to Gimlet. This is a smart and overdue show in the line-up.
gimlet has made yet another fantastic show! it's broad enough to never get boring and the topic is interesting. if you like reply all you'll love this
My new favorite podcast!
Content is good, but tone it down on the use of the word "like" please!
I love how they create a story and how much the love each other. They have a good friendship that they are letting us listen in on. Thank you!
Love ❤️ this show. Great chemistry. Intelligent hosts.
This show is one of the best things I stumbled upon! I love it!!
Feel like chatting with friends, love it
Love it equally and differently from their previous podcast!! So thrilled to have more to listen to from this power duo
Really hilarious, lighthearted show that discusses society and pop culture from unique angles. Quickly became one of my favorite podcasts.
A smart, funny, entertaining and educational look at Black culture by actual Black people!
As a 38 year old male living in very white and male dominated world (Montana, USA) I find this podcast to be refreshing and thoughtful. Of late, through conversations with my girlfriend and coworkers and listening to various podcasts about culture and subjects I've not been exposed to, i realized how biased and one-sided my thoughts have been. It's disturbing to know how little i've considers people's experiences other than my own This podcast is yet another place where i can try to strip back another layer of prejudice and see and feel what's really going on. Kudos and thanks to all that make this show possible Jerod
The hosts are fun and the topics are very interesting 👏🏼
I am so sick of these podcasts whose entire schtick is that they're from minority groups with nothing else to offer. And I'm a woman of color! But the not is well done, funny, interesting and from a diverse perspective. Thank you, Brittany and Eric!
They have such great chemistry! I'm really looking forward to more episodes.
Absolutely adore this podcast. The hosts are insightful, hilarious, and have a great chemistry with one another. The topics are interesting and (very important in this world of many podcasts) covering stories I wouldn't hear anywhere else.
I'm really glad that Brittany is back. I was really hoping that Gimlet wouldn't lose her unique perspective. I was sorry when Sampler went away because I'm a podcast fanatic, and I picked up some great new podcast from the show. The Nod has a very similar tone that is light and fun, yet touches on some important issues -- perhaps much more significantly than Smapler.
I love this show. I'm white, more white people should listen to this. Can't wait to hear more.
Love Brittany and Eric!
Worth it. 100%
I heard about this from a preview on Reply All, and I love it. Hilarious and informative.
Another fun, entertaining podcast from Gimlet!! ❤️❤️❤️
Hosts are incredible, guiding us through blackness with intelligence, empathy and the notable narrative skills. Stories told intelligently, humuriously, and with care. A new favorite for me!
I've been a fan of Brittany since Sampler. Her newest work does not disappoint!
Hilarious, fun, informative and very necessary.
How the first episode delves into a weird world of Youtube Conspiracy videos is beyond me. I was very excited based on the trailer to this podcast and hopefully they can improve on the production moving forward.
This is hilarious
I'm not black, I'm not white. But to listen to Britney and Eric brings a sense of understanding between the races. Thanks guys
I was a huge fan of Sampler, Brittany's last show on Gimlet which I highly recommend, and I'm so glad she's back with another show! The quality is just what you would expect of other Gimlet shows, and Brittany and Eric just make it 100x better. :)
I listened to the Good morning my Brothas podcast first. I laughed so hard I had to listen three times!!!! Love it.
Found this through reply all and had to download to find out more about that Solange drama (that top secret audio?!) 😂 This podcast is entertaining, smart and funny. Basically all you could want in a podcast.
Love this show!
This is a very entertaining and hilarious podcast. I usually can't wait to see what the next weeks topic will be about. Great work! Keep them coming. 😃
Love the lowlife episode!!! It's LIT🔥
Really excited about this show. Definitely recommend.
Check out the show, it's brilliant.
Thoughtful, playful and poignant. Loving it!
Looking forward to this podcast! So far the content and chemistry between the hosts has been top notch
Best podcast for learning about black culture. Media in general needs more material like this
This is exactly what I've been looking for. A smart show about interesting topics with great hosts! Keep up the great work!
Hosts are so talented. I’m listening on headphones and laughing out loud in public.
It makes me laugh, learn, and think. Not just entertaining but a window into history, culture, and life. Thanks for always keepin it real and doing the hard work to really invest in the background of the story.
This podcast is so refreshing and witty. Makes me laugh out loud every time I listen.
Definitely worth listening too!!
Well worth the listen! Brittany and Eric are absolutely fabulous as hosts!
Love Eric and Brittany! Fun, funny, on topic, informative, light, deep, smart, all of it. If you're thinking "should I subscribe?" stop asking and start doing. You won't regret it!
Engaging, well done
So happy to have Brittany Luse back in my podcast queue! The Nod is insightful, smart, and hilarious, I look forward to tuning in every week.
The Nod is a fun podcast. The host are conversational and funny and it plays like a conversation, I'd have with my coworkers during lunch. This is show is weeks old but is amongst my "can't wait to listen to of podcast."
I have been listening since the 1st episode and the show always feels like I'm on the sofa listening to my friends chop it up, laugh, just having good conversation and fun with the fam.
The like episode I listened to Good for the Blacks was like thoughtful but like I couldn't take the excessive use of like. Like you know what I mean?
I listen to A LOT of podcasts, and have gotten pretty picky lately about what I am listening to, and this is so well done! If you love Hip Hop- a must listen. If you love a great documentary and very well produced podcasts- a must listen. Stoked for what is next.
This is a wonderful podcast. Hilarious, insightful, smart, sharp, informative, entertaining, honest, warm---delightful. Thank you! Highly recommended. :)
I caught this at the end of the mogul podcast. Then I went back and listened to all of the episodes. It's a really fun podcast. I'm glad GImlet is launching some really high quality programming that's for a more diverse audience. Good stuff.
Such a great new show! The hosts are awesome. ❤️❤️❤️
Loved Brittney and Eric from their old podcast For Colored Nerds I am excited to find this new podcast and looking forward to new episodes. Yay! For Brittney and Eric.
Too busy to stay current? Listen to the Nod. They will let you know what's up in a fun and entertaining way
I love this show. the host are great and the Good For the Blacks segment is everything. I LOVE IT!!!!
Can we please have more of this!
I love this podcast so far! It’s introduced me to cultural trends and figures I previously knew very little about. The hosts are really engaging (loved Brittany on Sampler too) and the humor and pacing are great. Keep up the good work!
Happy to hear some more voices of color in the podcast world. First episodes are awesome.
I'm always looking for more POC to listen to, and I'm super-excited that Mogul sent me your way. Great work.
While I enjoyed for colored nerds, often times I didn't have the time to read up on every nerdy thing they were discussing. I love that y'all managed to get paid to have such honest dialogue with each other. This is also a great opportunity for people of other races (mostly white) to have blackness broken down for them in a easy understand yet eloquent. Thanks for the inclusivity. Please continue to live your best life.
Keep up the good work, I look forward to every episode 😊😊😊
Was a huge fan of Brittany from Sampler so I've been excited for The Nod. It's so fun to listen to Brittany and Eric. They have a great dynamic!
Ok Brittany, you had me at Encounter with a histamin' #solangeyoulookedbeautifulonyourweddingday. Your laugh is infectious! Great voice. Eric always has me laughing too. When I listen to this podcast on my hour commute, I feel like I'm at lunch, al fresco, with the 2 of you and I'm nodding away like 'yass, uh-huh, true true'. My new favorite and relatable podcast!
Title says it all
I listen to this 5* action, you should too.
Give this new podcast a try. You'll definitely come back for more.
At the risk of sounding dumb as a rock, this show is seriously enlightening. As someone from New Orleans who grew up in a seriously mixed race neighborhood thinking I was in, I am surprised by how little I know. (By the way, I ALSO understand that the hosts are not speaking for the ENTIRE African-American community but just providing another perspective)
Came here from mogul and between that and this there's a ton of amazing history you can't find anywhere else.
Love love love love love
Interesting topics and relatable
Just binge listened to the first few episodes and really enjoyed it! Will continue to listen.
Delightfully entertaining. A pleasure to listen to.
I love this podcast. It's definitely good for the blacks.
Great show. Cool vibe.
Wonderful exploration of blackness. Well researched and authentic. Love!
I was so sad to hear that For Colored Nerds would be ending but then they announced The Nod and I was kind of skeptical but of course I'd follow them since they are so good. Then I hear the premise and what a beautiful idea! Discussing the people who have made Black culture Black. As always, it's lighthearted and fantastic and more organized than For Colored Nerds so if you didn't like that previously, here it is in this podcast! I will say that one episode wasn't my favorite so far but that's because they were discussing a topic I don't care about though the episode was still entertaining and fun.
It's way past time for me to get out of my This American Life/Start Up/Savage Love/Why Oh Why white person podcast bubble, and I am so glad The Nod is here, produced by Gimlet so I had to prioritize it, to bring different thoughts and words into my ears and brain. Smart and engaging and fun, subscribe to this podcast now.
Brittany & Eric have an enjoyable and highly entertaining dynamic as co-hosts of this podcast. Can't wait for the next episode!
And accounted for ✅
Love it! The hosts are great! This show is def good for the blacks! 😉
Such a wonderful podcast, check it out! 👍🏿👏🏿✊🏿
I love Brittany and Eric. Their chemistry is fantastic. I hated that FCN was bi-weekly and now I hate that The Nod is so short. Still thoroughly enjoy the show.
I was a fan of For Colored Nerds, very excited about the new content.
Well done, engaging, surprising stories! Everything they have put out so far has been unexpected and interesting.
It is very informative with a great sense of humor
I just got through a long drive by listening to the first few episodes of this show back-to-back. As always, Gimlet delivers great content. The right interviews, the right timing, the right journalists. Great job all, keep it coming.
This show gives such a great narrative to my life's experiences. I sit at my desk literally laughing out loud.
Love this podcast. Finley quality with subjects that are cool, hip, and fun to listen to. Definitely subscribe. I'm mad I let this stay unplayed for so long
I love the host(s) of this podcast, and I find this podcast a fun way to delve into parts of culture I'd otherwise have no idea about. Not sure why they just glossed over the crime spree/ robbing tourists of the lo life guys, but in general enjoying this podcast.
SO, for a white guy with little exposure to black culture growing up, this podcast is insightful, delightful, and accessible. Best of all--I have that great feeling of listening in on a conversation that's not for me, and being able to just learn a ton about incredibly cool people I wouldn't have encountered otherwise.
Listen to this.
Love the hosts, love the stories.
Great way to paint a picture!
Just listened to the first 3 shows. So far, so good keep up the good work! 👍🏻
The hosts are fantastic - and the content is great too! Another home run for Gimlet Media!
I really love the genuine interplay of tape, host interaction, and interviews. Doing the podcaster's job in a new & better way. Looking forward to more! Well done you guys.
Great, funny podcast! So glad I found it.
This is a great complement to my beloved Code Switch in my podcast playlist. Code Switch is a bit more journalistic and serious in its approach to topics of race in America, whereas the Nod is funny, chatty and casual (albeit with terrific production values, of course), more along the line of the tone of Reply All. The hosts have a great dynamic (and this show is a HUGE improvementon Brittany's previous and now defunct Gimlet podcast, Sampler). Gimlet, PLEASE don't cancel this show after a few episodes like you've been doing with EVERY NEW PODCAST this year. (RIP Surprisingly Awesome and Twice Removed.) If you make me love yet another show only to snatch it out from under me, I don't know that I have it in my heart to forgive.
These two are doing God's work
I was so sad when For Colored Nerds ended, and so happy The Nod has arrived to take its place. FCN was more conversational and freewheeling, while The Nod is more produced/edited/reported. I miss the more conversational version, but this is great too.
Have I already left a review? Cause you guys are out here doing the Lord's work
Love the voice of this show! Funny and kind of actually educational?
This show give me all kinds of life.
I was excited for this based; I very much enjoy Brittany and Eric's insights. The first half of the first episode worked, but I found the conversation with the Bey stan worthless. The sex episode won me back, and as someone who works at Duke, I was delighted to learn Zane did too. (It led to a whole episode at work about how white people don't know about her or Frankie Beverly & Maze.) And then the Lo Life episode was terrific! I love a good subculture story. I'm in,
Super interesting random content! Entertaining for sure!
Authentically black and interesting show. It's all stories you never heard before.
Love B & E, sharp witty conversations and dialogue!
Eric and Brittany have the best dynamic! Missed her after Sampler ended so I'm glad she's back with a new show! This podcast is awesome.
Brittany + Eric --> 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 I was an avid listener of Brittany's first podcast on Gimlet. I'm glad Gimlet decided to create this show. I'm learning so much. You don't realize that you don't know things about other cultures until you take the time to listen. The 👕 👚 (Polo) episode is my fav so far.
It's very funny
really appreciate the content, looking forward to more.
So happy to hear more representation on Gimlet! Love Eric and Brittany from For Colored Nerds, and happy to see them creating narrative-driven stories.
So cool! Great episodes. Very happy w Gimlet's new show w Brittany and Eric.
Great to hear these two hosts bringing us some great material!
A super tight, narratively-driven discussion with equal parts familiar and new territory to discover about Black culture!
You gotta listen.
Love that they can talk me through things they are watching and I don't have to watch. Also just relevant and timely to my Black experience.
Funny and great. My new favorite show.
Fun and original content!
Strong start with a unique voice.
This is great. Thanks for putting it out there.
I enjoyed For Colored Nerds (especially movie discussions!!) but The Nod has whatever the Gimlet (former public radio staff) special sauce is--everything is tight and focused and polished into a great little nugget. Thank you E and B for sharing your thoughts with us.
Best black podcast out there. B and Eric have done it again. 🙌🏾✊🏾🙌🏾
This is hard because I love Brittany and Eric like they're fam. They're like imaginary friends. I mean, I can go on and in and border on giving lectures to anyone who'll listen on FCN episodes. They got 5 stars from me; however, I'm struggling to find substance in the Nod. I'm not clear about why FCN ended other that what they shared about it being an extreme, perhaps unsustainable amount of work... BUT The Nod seems like fluff entertainment so far. It sounds like casual, random convo. I'm just not here for that. Come on, guys. I want to go back to being the BIGGEST fan of your work again. Truly, our culture and community need your voices and your depth!
Gimlet pulled it together and gave Brittany and Eric the show they deserve. (Sampler was Not. It.) The Beyoncé episode made me laugh until I cried, and I can't wait for more.
OG FCN listener. Keep up the good work!
Caught the 1st 2 episodes and am loving it so far. Not too lengthy. Looking forward to whats next from these two.
Love their perspective of being black. Glad they're unapologetic in who they are without succumbing to society's outline for them.
Download it. You'll love it.
Don't listen to a lot of podcasts but the vibe given off by these two was addictive. Definitely can't wait to listen to more of Brittany and Eric.
They have a nice casual vibe and I love how smoothly the show moves from conversation to interviews.
Very funny. Very well done. Brittany is dope.
I followed over from 'For Colored Nerds' and I don't feel like I'm missing anything! Eric and Brittany are still as funny and brilliant as they are on FCN!
Love this podcast! Thank you Brittney and Eric and gimlet!
hasn't encountered a histamine?" These two are hilarious and earnest and GREAT!
Well put together, thoughtful, just plain fun
Am SO glad Brittany is coming back! Good call on Gimlet's side.
Great show! Well produced!
Brittany and Eric are hilarious and produce a fascinating, well-done podcast. Highly recommend!
A must listen
This show is so great. The hosts have incredibly chemistry. It's funny, it's smart, it's thoughtful. Go listen!
Host with great chemistry and engaging content.
So glad to have these two back in my life. I didn't know I was missing this from life again. I'm soooo happy and excited for them to continue creating content!
Just found this podcast today and already I love it 😍! I can't wait for more. 👏👌 New fan!
I love the comraderie humor and authenticity.
So happy Gimlet media is keeping B Luse as a host. I was a huge fan of Sampler, and disagreed with the show being canceled. That being said, I was also a huge fan of For Colored Nerds, and was excited when Eric was added to the team. This show is black excellence! 2 episodes in, and I already love it. I won't preach, but people of color have very few voices in "corporate podcasting". I mention that because The Nod and shows like it are very important in the long run. Keep being great! Teddy D
hosts, produciton, topics, conversation, listening!
I can tell this is going to be one of my favorite podcasts!
Came out swinging with the first two episodes!!!
This show is off to a great start. I was very entertained! It's wonderful to see more POC hosted podcasts in the podcast world!
