It’s a good, good podcast
Thanks guys for this. I stumbled on it and I loved this series all those years ago and you both inspired me to start watching again. It is so appropriate for the times. Not only did it seem like some things are still being argued about but things are worse. Anyway I’m hoping things can improve with a new and capable admin, you know , someone who is not an idiot and believes in democracy. Anyway stay safe and thanks! Excellent podcast and I love the guests. Dot MacDonald Brattleboro, Vt.
Hey guys, why don’t you put up a link here for Brad’s event in Wisconsin on Monday. I will see you then.
I discovered this podcast during lockdown, y’all kept me company and entertained! I’m a huge fan of passion projects, thanks for sharing this one with us!
I’ve made it a goal to watch the whole series and listen to each episode’s podcast (and then some, i.e. Blocks of Cheese) and I’ve got to say I LOVE THIS PODCAST! Both of these guys are super entertaining and admirable, I love how easy it is to “geek-out” with them.
I'm sorry, guys. I know this podcast has been praised to high heaven and back, but I just couldn't do it. I have only one major problem with it, and if it doesn't bother you, you'll probably enjoy West Wing Weekly. And my issue is one of the hosts: Hrishikesh Hirway. I find him to be irritating, pretentious, and boring. He talks in that weird, quiet, soft tone that you hear on elitist podcasts like NPR or This American Life. Maybe some people find that to be ASMR-ish, but it just makes me grit my teeth. Not to mention the man doesn't have a humorous bone in his body (no pun intended), always being dry, stale, and moralizing in comparison to his cohost's likeable, chipper attitude. I don't know if he improves later on, but I doubt it, since I'm aware Hirway is a professional podcaster who has probably settled on his style of molesting his listeners' ears with his creepy whispering. I know this may sound silly to some, but a whole podcast can be brought down for you if you dislike one of the main cohosts. Also, I didn't get too far in, but the idea of interviewing a cast member every episode seems like a gimmick that would get old. I'm more interested in hearing about the episode than behind-the-scenes trivia. Anyway, point is, Joshua Malina is great, I'd happily listen to any podcast of his if he does one again. But I want Hrishikesh nowhere near my ear holes ever again.
Back in the day I was an extra on several episodes at Warner Bros. On one occasion it was the night before Thanksgiving , we left well after midnight, and Martin warmly looked at us with those twinkling eyes, smiled and wished the small group of us left a Happy Thanksgiving. I also remember John Spenser , not in a suit but in an off camera -Hawaiian shirt , outside the stage. I smile at both those memories today . Can’t wait to dive into these podcasts.
I loved TWW when it originally aired - have recently started to rewatch every episode on Netflix - it holds up all these years later. Same issues - same concerns - same inability to gain consensus and agreement to provide solutions to the nation. And isn’t that just so sad .. Aaron Sorkin’s genius was recognizing an issue/topic/situation and writing a story that was on point and believable - and putting the humanity and imperfections into each character that was true to his/her role .. having found this podcast (just yesterday) I love TWW even more!!
Hello, everyone! A fellow fan of The West Wing here and, even though I’ve discovered it just months after the podcast ended, a huge fan of The West Wing Weekly Podcast, too. I love the analysis and discussion of each episode of TWW and feel delighted to revisit the series on a deeper level with equally-invested nerds (not just Josh and Hrishikesh, I’m looking at all of you, TWWW community)! Despite being late to the party, I’m glad I made it and thrilled that the entire podcast is preserved for not only me but also many decades of West Wing Watchers to come. I love reading through old comments on the Facebook page and reading discussions on TWWW website. This podcast captivates my interest for every moment I listen, and I am so grateful for the thoughtful efforts put in to make this project special. I can’t recommend The West Wing Weekly Podcast highly enough!
These two lovable nerds wrote the playbook for tv show-accompanying podcasts with this excellent podcast. I listened every week the past few years, and had put off listening to a few of the special later season episodes (ie graphic design, casting the pilot) but finally finished, and I couldn’t recommend it more. Obviously the material they covered was some of the best television ever made, but it wasn’t without faults, and these two are quick to point out areas that don’t hold up to the higher standards we hold to culture in 2020 in terms of diversity and inclusion. Finally, I’ll say you don’t have to be political to participate in this podcast. There are interviews with writers and directors and actors and camera operators and set designers, as well as policy makers and social justice advocates.
Can you guys do a reunion that reviews and discusses Aaron Sorkin’s The American President? Miss you guys so much!
His story about his Vietnam Vet brother John - made me weep. Our politics are far apart, but I respect his creative talents and his life story and his eyewitness to history are compelling.
Hrishi and Josh take is on an illuminating, informative, and ultimately very moving revisit of The West Wing from episode 1 through to the very end. Not only do their guests include beloved series regulars, but also real life political pros, beltway insiders and Hollywood heavyweights. Come for the chance to nerd out on the West Wing. Stay for the hosts’ warm friendship, sharp wits (sharps wit?), and insightful commentary. This podcast is a must for any fan of The West Wing, and anyone who has not yet seen the show...
This is amazing. I love it so much.
Thanks for the laughs, Hrishi and Josh.
Update: now the hosts are using thus discontinued podcast to spam listeners to shill their other podcasts. The podcast is entertaining for fans of the west wing but also annoying. Molina yammers on and on about himself and he simply is not very interesting and too often annoying. While he has insight into some years of West Wing it was in its decline and a totally different show from the quality years.
This podcast is so good that I’m on my second (for seasons 1-4, third) go around. Listening again before bed and loving it just the same!
Listening to this podcast from start to finish brought several realizations to my attention. First, I am no way alone or original in my love of this series - rewatching from time to time, explaining current events with WW anecdotes and dropping WW references into regular conversations - I am not even close to the worst! Next, I learned so much about myself and why I loved it - the idealism, the inspiration, the hope that we could and should have leaders who are challenged to do what is best for country over party or legacy. Thank you both - I appreciated your labor of love greatly!
I watched the west wing with my family every night for about 4 months now and we just finished it. I am SO sad that we are not going to be able to do that anymore this is so nice to be able to revisit it again. p.s. I am 13
It was my favorite show and to now relive it thru a podcast is amazing. To hear all the details of a show is too cool. I can’t wait to watch the show again w the new knowledge The hosts do a great job.
There are a number of pods that I look forward to each week. This one cuts above them all. I find myself waking on Wednesday mornings and immediately digesting the content and analysis of the best show of all time. If you're considering a WW re-watch, this is the way to do it. Great job, guys. Post-Finale Edit: Thank you, Josh and Hrishi. This was a true joy that I hope many will find long after “Tomorrow.” Hrishi, I can only imagine the surreal feeling of being on stage with West Wing royalty. Thanks for helping us to feel some of that same thrill.
The greatest podcast about the greatest show!
This podcast, like the show that inspired it, is incomparably wonderful. What a gift Rishi and Josh gave us by walking us through all the West Wingy magic! I’ll listen to this one again and will always be profoundly grateful to these two for bringing so much love to my favorite show.
As in “tomorrow, I need another podcast to listen to” ... this was a wonderful journey... thanks to you both (and all those behind the scene) for a wonderful weekly adventure... I love the west wing even more simply because of this podcast
Thank you to Hrishikesh Hirway and Joshua Malina for this immersive, fun and enlightening trip down memory lane.
It has been fun to hear each episode broken down, especially with the perspectives of the guests. Hrishi and Josh added great depth to the issues and storylines in each episode and brought my appreciation of ‘The West Wing’ to a whole new level. Now that the podcast is done, it’s time to start watching and listening all over again!
Wonderful podcast about an epic TV show. Two terrific hosts who are funny and knowledgeable and who bring on extraordinary guests, including the actors, writers, and directors of the show, along with political figures. I have listened every week. I will miss it greatly. Do yourself a favor and listen.
🤘🏼Amazing! I will miss it.
I love this podcast!!!! I know I'm a nerd but this keeps me going every week! Will be missed...so I will just listen again, as I’ve done with TWW many times
My favorite show and podcast. Both insightful and thought provoking with a nice “super fan” touch. My only regret is not sticking around after the live finale to meet. Thank for making my Wednesdays better!
This has been my favorite podcast for years, and I will miss having a new episode to look forward to each week. Thoughtful, hilarious hosts and an impressive depth and breadth of guests deepened my love of the West Wing and helped me learn a lot! Thanks, Hrishi and Josh and your entire team!
I found out about this wonderful podcast only a few weeks ago. I had to cram the entire run in before today to be able to catch up before the last show. I happened to do just that the Monday night before. Living in one of those fly over states I of course missed out for any live shows. Save for the wonderful idea from Hrishikesh to record these shows and make them available as the podcast. My favorite moments on the show were the back and forth between Mr. Molina and Brad Whitford. Who apparently was also in Revenge Of The Turds 2. I enjoyed the one episode of Song Exploder I listened to, and can’t wait to hear what’s next on Partners. I surly hope now that Scandal has finished its run. That Mr. Molina will be able to find work. Maybe in one of those internet shows. You know the ones that. Oh what is it the kids say? Oh yeah. Streaming. Maybe you can get on that nice show that won the SAG award the other night. Ma zel? Mazel? That’s it The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. It’s got that nice man Kevin Pollak in it. I hear he likes to play poker and also has or had a podcast. That’s something you two have in common. As for you Mr. Hirway. Don’t get me started with you. Be a good boy and give you mother a grandchild. She’s not going to be on this Earth for ever you know. Oy! Is this review going on too long? It feels like it’s going on too long. It is. It is going on too long. It’s just that I’ve never written a five star review before. Let alone read a five star review. Is this what a five star review looks like? Is this review still going? I’m sorry. I’m sorry. Why don’t you come over Friday and we’ll have a nice brisket. Shabbat Shalom. OK. OK. What’s next. (P.S. The second half of this review was written with an intended comedic tone. I am not really prying into your personal life Hrishikesh Hirway. If Josh will read this and say Ha. That. Is funny. Even if it’s to himself, then I’ve done a job.)
This duo is amazing and I can hope that their paths cross again in the podcast universe. Thank you for 4 years of joy.
In the finale episode of this podcast (which I attended live!), Aaron Sorkin talks about how rare and special it is for a cast and crew to create the kind of magic that resulted in the West Wing. The same can be said about TWWW. Josh and Hrishi have a special magic together; they are witty, insightful, and brilliantly entertaining. They don't just recap episodes, they bring in guest after guest, each one adding a new layer of interest to the episode under discussion. My enjoyment of The West Wing is all the more rich because of the time I spent listening to these men. I laughed, I cried, I watched and rewatched.
Really is one of the best podcasts I’ve listened to. Sad it over. Hrishi and Josh are great together, and any ep with Sorkin in it is a must listen to twice ep
Thank you for endless entertainment and for breaking down one of my favorite shows. Wishing it could go on forever. I will miss Josh’s random and hilarious pluralizations (eg,egg salads v eggs salad) and hrishi is amazing. thanks fellas.
I have loved the show and the podcast. Josh & Hrishi are a delight. Agree with another reviewer, TWWW is the standard bearer for any and all other podcasts about tv shows. Even the puns.
If you love the West Wing, do yourself a favor and do a Rewatch...and then listen to this podcast as you watch. You won’t be sorry
Greatest podcast of all time. And Josh liked my tweet.
What a ride. To take a TV show gone 10 years and create a whole new vibrant universe from it in another medium...my goodness. Late Tuesday nights/early Wednesday mornings won’t be the same. Thanks guys.
I grew up on "The West Wing" and have watched it through 1000 times over despite it premiering a year before I was born-listening to this podcast and watching it all the way through with the podcast as commentary has somehow made the show even more brilliant. It provides so many tidbits of new information that show new light on areas that may seem small in the grand scheme of things, but make this beloved show the renowned show it is. Plus, Josh Malina!
These guys introduced new generations to the greatness that was The West Wing. It couldn’t have come at a better time.
Why do I give it 5 stars? Because of the magic that is Hrishi and Josh. And make no mistake, it is magic. In a world full of danger, they were steady beams of light. In a world full of corrupt choices, they reminded us a better world existed. One where we believed that Jed Bartlet wanted us all to succeed. We learned new ideas.. we heard new stories. We were in the “room where it happened.” I know what a Flentle is and a Bamba Poof.. I understand the writing process, and how much each actor cared and knew how important what they were doing was. How the directors worked, and the WalkNTalk organ.. and most of all how much they all cared about making it good. I was reminded Weekly that I could ask for more from my government. I treasure every moment I spent listening, and would tell anyone to dive in. Become a member of #BartletsArmy
Interesting insights, silly side convos, fun and informative guests... This podcast has it all!
Forget that the subject matter is pure genius-perfection, as well, Hirway & Molina are magic. Their chemistry makes the podcast everything. In the hands of two people less in love with their material, TWWW would be just an interesting podcast about a show American found iconic. Hrishi & Josh remember that we were completely devoted to it, that American audiences continue to have a love affair with this show. Thank you for bringing this podcast to life! It has been a joy. ♥️
This podcast sets the standard for the what a“Podcast about a TV Show” should be. Awesome access to The West Wing’s creators, writers, producers, actors and crew members. Engaging hosts who both celebrate the show and take it to task when called for. I have been a die-hard fan of The West Wing for years and hearing Josh and Hrishi nerd out over every moment of every episode has made me revisit the show I love anew. Thank you Josh and Hrishi for all the episodes. Take some well deserved time off and then please, please make a Sports Night podcast!
So sad that it’s coming to an end. Awesome podcast about a great series. Hrishi & Josh are wonderful and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed listening to them since I’ve learned about this podcast. Thank you
Why did Greg Brach call C J so often? Did Toby get the information ONLY from his brother or were there other sources? Jill Harcke
The West Wing was a perfectly-written, beautifully-acted tv show that aired before it became commonplace to make a devil out of anyone who doesn’t agree with you 100% of the time. I thought it would be a nice trip down memory lane with some witty insight into what it was like behind the scenes, but I could hardly make it through the first episode! The hosts have no chemistry, and right off the bat tries to fold gross modern politics into the show.
I’ll miss you when your gone. Thanks so much. Loved the show, then and now.
Now that the podcast series is almost over I tear up at the end of these last episodes. Thank you guys for a great ride. You have produced one of the finest if not the finest podcasts on the web.
I have watched the West Wing too many times to count. My brother told me about this podcast and I began to listen and just couldn’t put it down. True fans of the West Wing will love this podcast. If you are watching for the first time; watch and then listen. Josh and Hrishikesh do a great job of breaking down episodes as well as bringing on great guests of the show for more deep dives.
The West Wing will never leave my Netflix cue & I hope to have access to this podcast for the foreseeable future. It brings calm, happiness and civility to a surrealist daily grind. Thank you for creating this & I hope to make it to LA for the last hurrah.
As we get closer to the end, I am starting all over again! I’ve enjoyed this journey so much and am trying to prepare myself for the close. I’m not doing so great with that so, today, I went back to the beginning. Thank you for this!!!!!

Pleasure to listen to each week, I am going to miss it!
Brilliant Podcast with super talented hosts... my favorite TV show ever... thank you so much for doing this. I’m really going to miss it ... absolutely loved it all. I’m hoping they will announce a West Wing Reboot...
As a rabid fan of TWW who has watched almost every episode except those in horrific season 5 more times than would be considered normal or socially acceptable, I eat up every episode. I particularly love those with guests and while I love the banter and lovely memories shared by other actors on the show like Richard Schiff, Bradley Whitford and Allison Janey, the best are the smaller voices whose supporting role or writing contributions enriched the symphony of WW dialog and rich storytelling. Keep up the great work!
The best podcast about the greatest TV show ever made ♥️👏🏻🏆🥇
The West Wing Weekly brings me such joy...almost as much as watching The West Wing (I have the entire series on DVD and have watched over 50 times start to finish) And now that I have the pleasure of watching it on Netflix with ease (because putting a DVD in a Blueray player is so strenuous) I’m watching still, over and over again. Thank you for breathing life back into my passion for these people who I truly love, admire and long for them to actually be in The West Wing today. People with such passion and intelligence that want to do the hard thing because it’s the right thing. I’m saddened to think there will someday be an end to you podcast. I wish I knew about it sooner. Best to you both and blessings on your home!
Great podcast, get to relive some of these great moments of the show! And, Josh's jokes are occasionally funny. 😂
I couldn’t love this podcast more. I only watched the show this past summer, so I’m late to the family, but I’m so glad I’m here now! Thanks to both of you for all you do!
The two best hosts, who get the best guests, and they discuss the best parts of the show.
Very comprehensive, entertaining and great hosts
I’ve been a listener from the beginning, and Josh and Hrishi feel like old friends at this point. I don’t quite know how I’m going to handle my morning commute without them!
I have been listening since the beginning and it just keeps getting better. So thankful for the many wonderful interviews as well
I am getting a little sad that this will be over soon! I have listened since day one! Looking forward to what comes next.
A very dear friend of mine was responsible for me getting into the podcast and I haven’t looked back. In fact, it got me back into the show - which I dutifully watched for the eighth time. Our hosts are brilliant and I hope they team up again for another show.
Love the show and everything Aaron. Enjoy all the great guests but truly impressed with the hosts. Your attention to detail and comfortable style are a fantastic addition to the re-watching the show. Thank you.
Joshua Malina, Hrishikesh Hirway, and their guests, provide insiders’ analysis of each episode of The West Wing. The conversations are erudite, funny, insightful, thought-provoking, and occasionally scathing enough to make the whole a gem of a podcast. If you love TWW, you will love TWWW.
I just finally got into podcasts and I am so excited to have found this show! Great job. I have been laughing out loud since the first episode.
I’ve been listening since the beginning, through planning my wedding and my pregnancy and rocking my baby to sleep. It’s funny and awful and wonderful and thought-provoking and infuriating (excuse me, PRESIDENT Infuriating), just like the show, and I will be re-listening for years. Thank you for bringing this to life, and please get Anna Devere Smith before it’s over!
Knowing this podcast existed prompted me to watch “The West Wing” on Netflix. I figured it must be good if people are still talking about it. It was. So good. But I didn’t consider actually listening to the podcast until recently and so glad I did! So many questions answered and so great to hear from the writers, actors, and producers responsible for this series. Josh and Hrishikesh are great together, so fun to listen to.
The only podcast I listen to religiously. I love these guys!! Listening to their discussions has changed how I watch and think about the West Wing.
I can’t wait to watch TWW and the listen to TWWW each Week! They bring on fascinating guests and have insightful conversations. I’m in the final season and am sorry to know it’s winding down.
Very disappointing that neither of these guys know the show’s history. They mockingly mentioned that Leo was smug in brushing off questions about his health, by citing his involvement in Bartlet’s MS cover-up. However, Leo wasn’t a part of that, and didn’t find out about the MS until after a year into Bartlet’s presidency in season 1.
Been listening since the beginning, finally getting around to a review. Love the show
I have seen The West Wing no less than 15 times start to finish. I can’t believe I’ve just found this podcast! These are my people.
If you love the show.... you will love this podcast
A lifelong fan of The West Wing couldn’t ask for more. Great work, gentlemen!
I’ve been listening since the beginning and love this podcast as much as I love (the first four seasons of) The West Wing. Funny, insightful, and unabashedly goofy, Josh and Hrishi are fantastic hosts and I learn something every episode. My only complaint is that they’ve ruined other recap podcasts for me since they set the bar so high.
On the whole the podcast is great when it stays in the lane it’s supposed to be in, mainly to provide thoughtful analysis and commentary on one of the great political dramatizations of all time. But part of what made The West Wing such a great show were its complex characters and ground-breaking writing that managed to overshadow its clearly left-sided politics. Conservative views, when they were on display, were thoughtful and insightful often portrayed by intelligent and thoughtful characters. Balance was never the objective of the show, but never was unbalance either. The podcast, however, is letting its political leanings instead of its analysis rule its content. It’s off-putting and disappointing considering that the commentary and analysis of the show itself is excellent. The deeper discussions into who the characters are, analysis of the writing, guests that delve into the show’s creative processes is content that is fascinating and interesting. But the podcast has turned into yet another tired mouthpiece for bashing Trump and shilling for Democratic politicians and ideals. And honestly, I, and I suspect quite a few others, don’t come here for that. Much like the show, I’m finding that I’m less and less devoted to the podcast’s final season, as it has similarly lost its way heading into its twilight.
I love every freaking thing about this podcast. I've been a fan for years, and this is giving me an excuse to re-watch the episodes once again. I love Josh and everything he says. I'm so happy to be introduced to Hrishi and his intellect as well. I love hearing them talk, they make me laugh out loud, and mostly I love hearing all these inside stories about a show I've loved for decades. Please, please, please continue through the duration of the show. We're in it together now.
I've been listening for a long time, and I can't believe I'm just now providing a review. A must listen for anyone that loves The West Wing. Love both the hosts and their deep dive (well, maybe Hrishi's deep dive) into each show, and of course, their insight. I really enjoy it when a guest appears on the episode that is from the show or consulted on the show or wrote the episode! I really enjoy the behind the scenes look the guests provide.
I have watched WW through at least 5-6 times and had just finished a complete viewing when I discovered this podcast so I started over again. Of all the pods I subscribe to, this is the one I look forward to the most, and always listen to as soon as it’s available. The access to cast members, Aaron Sorkin and other writers and special guests from the world of government make it extra special. Even when it is just the hosts they balance each other beautifully. I can’t recommend this highly enough!
I loved The West Wing when it was on TV, and I love the show still. When I found out about this podcast years ago, I was ecstatic. I loved listening in to the nerdy WW conversations that I couldn’t have with anyone else. To hear from the actors, directors, producers, AARON SORKIN, and actual people who have worked on Presidential campaigns and The White House was amazing. Then... Then the 2016 election happened and Josh and Hrishikesh turned the show into something like “How did this episode of The West Wing from years ago reveal to us how dumb and stupid (whilst at the same time cruel and heartless) every Republican is, and how President Trump is the devil incarnate”. The show has stopped being a synopsis and commentary on episodes with some modern applications, and now has become a commentary on today with the occasional reference to a WW episode (not to mention a forum for Democratic politicians). I understand that the WW universe was one of a Democratic administration. But even Sorkin and Wells didn’t demonize Republicans in the show’s episodes the way J & H and their guests seem to do now. I love The West Wing, and I’d love to listen to the podcast episodes, and now I just can’t, knowing how much of 2017, -18, and -19 anger is now present in EVERY. SINGLE. PODCAST.
Great conversations, interviews, and appreciation for this artful tv series. I love Josh and Hrishi’s dynamic. ❤️❤️❤️
Love it when they stick to show, but their assumption that everyone shares their political views has been getting a little obnoxious. Lots of people loved this show, not just Democrats. Over time they’ve started to sound like a parody of the NPR ladies on SNL. Lately I’ve found myself stopping and deleting the balance of the show due to their sanctimonious attitudes.
I just started this podcast a couple o weeks ago, but I love it! I especially love all the detailed conversations and social interviews.
i love this pod
What a fantastic podcast
I’ve listened to every episode, and I continually am astounded at how J & R find a way to make it new every episode! They always bring in just the right guest that gives weight to each show, and reminds me how much I still love TWW
Love this show. I have times when I listen to episode after episode and then take a break for a month or so and come back to it. It’s perfect when I’m in a particular mood.
It’s been so lovely to rewatch my favorite show with the carefully curated commentary and behind the scenes additions.
My favorite podcast. The hosts are funny and insightful, and the topic is 5-star. The only downside is that, like the West Wing itself, it’s going to have a finite number of episodes. Wish it would keep going.... here’s to a Newsroom Weekly!!
This is my favorite podcast that isn’t by the McElroy brothers.
I have been a lifelong fan of the WW so this podcast is like candy. It makes my commute on New Jersey Transit bearable. Love the dad jokes and good clean(ish) fun!! Thanks for making the day just a little better!
I have been avoiding this for years, but it's time to admit I am a complete nerd and love WWW. West Wing is one of my all time favorite shows, and to have two people thoughtfully discuss each episode, scene by scene...is epic. There is tons of great commentary, wonderful special guests, and timely political insight. Josh and Hrishi (sp?) are great together. I don't mind the puns, but sometimes the tangents can run a bit long (LOL). However, I look forward to their podcast every week and plan to see them live next time they're in LA (hint, hint). Thank you gentleman; you're doing the Lord's work. What's next?
I don’t normally get super fan girly about things like this, but I was surprised at how much I loved it! While talking about each episode, Josh and Hrishi make it so fun to listen to and have the best guests! Love Love Love this and will be so very sad once it’s over!
If you enjoy the West Wing this is a great way to remember your favorite episodes or watch along with them. Josh Malina can be a little annoying at times, but he's grown on me. And Rishi is one of the best podcast hosts ever. Highly recommend.
Lively and light, Hrishi and Josh are having as much fun as we are. This is my priority podcast every time a new episode drops. Fantastic guests, both from the show and from the real political world, add additional insight to what makes this show so fun to watch.
Clever commentary, puns, interviews with cast members and public officials. Very enjoyable!
I've never watched the West Wing before but this podcast has really helped me get into it. I've listened almost all the way through the first three seasons so far and the hosts never let me down. I also really enjoy the interviews, especially with guest stars who only appear in that specific episode.
Perfect balance of show discussion and chicanery.
Tough to decide which is more fun—spending time with an old love (the West Wing) or discovering two new ones (Hrishi and Joshua as hosts). It’s great listening to you guys. Thanks for doing this!
For WEST WING junkies like me, this is a great way to keep the show alive. It’s amazing how discussing each episode is a great way to learn about everything that went into the design of this classic show — and takes my mind off actual current events when I just need a break from them. I’m glad I found this podcast, with host Josh Malina and various guests who acted, directed, and/or produced THE WEST WING. As I wait for each new podcast, I wonder: what’s next? 💕🌵😎
Very simply put, this podcasts supplies a demand and that demand is More West Wing Now! I’m currently rewatching the series (for the sixth time?) and while I love every episode I find myself wanting more. I stumbled across this podcast while reading an article about Aaron Sorkin and it was a godsend. My friends are tired of hearing me talk about the show, so it’s awesome to hear people talk about it with such reverence. And the behind the scenes look that Joshua Malina and other guest stars provide is extremely entertaining. What’s next?
Thank you, Josh and Hirshi for bringing back a sense of normality and sensibility to the political process! Your podcasts remind me why I looked so forward to Wednesday night between 1999 and 2006. Keep up the great work, my drive home on Wednesday evening - as I listen to a new podcast - has become one of the highlights of my week.
This is an excellent podcast! I just found it last week and am so happy that I did. Finding it has helped me revisit the episodes, incredible writing and acting, which I so enjoyed. I really like the discussion between Hrishi and Josh, and especially enjoy the guests, like cast members, members of congress, the secretary of the Army, NASA engineers, Aaron Sorkin, etc, who add more context. I like Josh’s and Hrishi’s critique as well. It is clearly done with admiration. I just finished listening to 2:9, which prompted me to write. The West Wing show itself is like a treatment for our overall frustration with the current deplorable government situation to which we’re subjected. I hadn’t watched the show until my husband and I binge-watched The West Wing starting in January 2018. Once we were hooked, we would say: “Ready to see how an ethical and moral president and administration govern?” at the start of a viewing session. Cheers and thank you.
This is such a fun podcast! I have followed along since they started it two years ago and watch the episode they will discuss each week. Josh and Hrishi are a great team and so funny! Also, the guests are amazing!!
While Josh Molina may have been responsible for the demise of the West Wing, he is the perfect foil for super fan Hrishi on this amazing podcast. I am really looking forward to Hrishi discovering seasons 5-7. I look forward to each installment and listen as soon as they drop. I’m a huge consumer of podcast content because of spending hours each week in my car and this hour would be the last I would give up. Thanks for the fun guys!!! What’s next!!
I rewatch the west wing every single year and was told about this podcast and let me tell you, It is imperative to who I am as a person. The west wing is great, the hosts of this podcast are great (s/out will Bailey), and the guests are great. I’m so happy about this I could cry. Yaaaaaaaaas!!
I’ve been a West Wing fan since I discovered it while the second season was airing. I thought I knew everything there was to know, having watched every episode at least a dozen times. I am routinely surprised by the insights of the hosts and the guests they bring to the podcast, from the stars of the show, to the crew, to actual government officials that happen to be big fans. If you love the show, you’re going to love the podcast. Sorry, “President” Podcast.
Traveling for work is exhausting, draining and repetitive (it can also be great but it tends not to be). TWWW has been my companion through many, many trips. Hrishi and Josh are a very good duo, they are funny (!), and take the conversation to intelectual heights whilst maintaining their sense of humor. The guests are wonderful not only because they include the (magnificent) cast and crew but also people who can discuss the issues of the episode and contrast them to what goes on in real life. We keep reminders that while some things of the show are a bit dated, the west wing is more relevant today than ever before. Thank you to the TWWW for making me look forward to spending time by myself at the airport (and by making people look at me funny because I keep laughing by myself)
Wonderful breakdowns and full of funny, serious, clever commentary. Awesome guests. I listen religiously. Wish it came out more than once a week (podcast title be damned).
Really good show! Can’t wait for Tuesday nights!
Definitely my favorite podcast--can't miss an episode. If you're a West Wing fan, you HAVE to listen to this.
I’ve always thought The West Wing was the best tv show ever made....”on so many levels”! I’ve re-watched it many times. So how fun to have heard about your podcast!! Thanks Josh and Richi for bringing new life to the West Wing 💕 Great interviews!! I’m also learning much about the actual production of the show..... had to re-watch “FiveVotesDown” just to see the walk and talk after hearing it described by those responsible for the camera work. Love it! Shana
Hrishi & Josh are amazing. I can’t get enough of them!
I would’ve never thought that there was a community that loved the west wing as much as I do. I walk around with my lapel pin hoping to find some of you. This show is beautifully orchestrated and so wonderfully made. Props to the people behind the scenes that make this happen. Also, who doesn’t love Allison! So thrilled to hear her every time she is on.
Great new content for fans of one of the greatest shows ever.
Even after having seen this show all the way through maybe six times, I’m still loving this podcast, because it gives me a new way to enjoy the episodes all over again! Josh Malina is okay, too, I guess.
This is a dream come true for west wing fanatics. Not only are the two hosts funny and insightful , with a lot of inside dirt from Josh Malina , but then you get all the visits by Sorkin , Shlamme, and lots of cast and crew from the show!
Hrishi and Josh are super entertaining, and it’s a fun review of one of my favorite re-runnable shows.
I love the sense of community this podcast brings. There is so much to each episode and means a lot to a lot of people
I first watched The West Wing a couple years after it went off the air. I have watched it in its entirety multiple times, but this podcast has provided me a lens to see The West Wing in a broader and more contemporary context.
I love the West Wing. It's one of my favorite shows of all time. And now I have another reason to rewatch the show, week by week, while following along with Hrishi and Josh's commentary. Their guests are on point and they have very interesting discussions that make me think even more about each episode.
Out of all of the Anti-Brad-Whitford podcasts I listen to, this is by far my favorite. Great pocast that chronicles an old shows amazing actors, writing, production, and direction. Frequently updates listeners on how issues and politics have evolved (or not) with policy experts. Also, just funny, thoughful and entertaining. OK, What's next?
Love the show, love the podcast. I like all the episodes but am particularly fond of the episodes with guests from the real world. The three civil rights attorneys/fans of the podcast were fantastic. Best to listen in order from the beginning while watching the show.
This is the first online comment I’ve ever written in review of something. And it’s just to say how much it meant to me to realize I’m not alone in my post-hoc annual love affair with the West Wing. I love you guys—and thanks to the podcast, my long, daily commute back and forth to my firm is noticeably better and less stressful. Here’s to living in a world where everyone takes the time to discover other opinions and discuss nuance. For now, it’s just you two...and Justin Trudeau.
Really great podcast! A lot of insight into West Wing episodes that I had never thought about. Also, just a fun, conversational atmosphere to hang out in for an hour.
I love to watch The West Wing just to reassure myself that there is hope and promise in our government. The guests are awesome. Josh Malina is hilarious. When I’m at my lowest after a Trump tweet this is what I watch and listen to.
I love the podcast and its take on one of the best TV shows in history. However, the host too often assume that only progressives listen to the show or watched West Wing.
AsYes aRtaeaw is an a ss Zena
I love this podcast. I've never even watched the TV series, and I probably never will, but I really enjoy the podcast. It's funny, smart, oddly informative and insightful. I love the interviews, and love all the littke anectodal stories. Maybe I would enjoy it even more if I'd watched the show, but I'm perfectly happy listening to the podcast as a standalone entertainment.
For someone who came to The West Wing about 10 years too late, it’s great to have this podcast which makes it feel like someone is as excited about the show as I am all these years later. I love all the interviews and behind the scenes stories!
Loved this pod for a long time. One of the things I admired was how even though they are both unapologetically more to the liberal end of the spectrum, they didn’t make their personal views a huge part of the pod. That has really changed dramatically to the point it has started to affect the quality of recent episodes IMO. I realize infusing personal views and opinions is their right and my preference they dont do that notwithstanding, although I probably wont continue to listen, it takes nothing away from what a great job they have done and how much I enjoyed this podcast (until recently). While I would never dream of rating them lower then the five stars they deserve for the full body of work, perhaps my feedback will be heard and taken to heart (especially if other listeners feel the same).
I love litening to the both of you. I love the West Wing but going through the series again with commentary is the best. If I'm honest I've probably watched the series 5 or 6 times, I know it so well now that I sometimes put it on as background music. But after listening I have to sit and watch every episode like it was the first time.
The WWW is humourous way to digest a show that sometimes can take itself too seriously. The hosts are funny and insightful. They playfully mock the show when it screws up all the while celebrating this overall profound and wonderful show.
This podcast is what we need AND deserve.
This podcast makes me love Wednesdays!
I love watching this show with Josh and Hrishi. Very funny. They also have terrific guests.
It’s too bad Josh isn’t acting any longer, but Hollywood’s loss is our gain. Great conversations, and you’ve sucked back into another rewatch.
A great treat for West Wing fans.
Funny and informative while giving us all an excuse to watch The West Wing... again ;)
I watched this show before I got into politics during the Obama re-election campaign. I was so full of hope and these beautiful ideals then. So much so, that I didn’t notice the rampant sexism in this show or that this lacks diversity on so many levels. I listened through the second season before I realized that going in depth into the show was ruining it for me. It made me hate Sorkin. The dude from Scandal is still as annoying as his character on Scandal and when he was on the west wing. I can’t even be arsed to remember his name. Cool interviews but I tapped out.
This is such a great companion to rewatching the series. They point out things I never noticed and provide commentary on some of my favorite moments. Interviews with the cast are also such a bonus.
Lately I’ve been working out to political podcasts and I save you all for the car, but today I worked out listening to WWW....I was so happy listening to you guys that I had a better work out. Thank you! I so enjoy your podcast. Hrishikesh, love your new pup, and Josh, keep tweeting please!
The early episodes of the podcast were great. But the last season or so has resulted in never ending “dad jokes” and a race to prove which of the hosts is more clever. The podcast has gone from being about the West Wing show to now bring about the hosts.
In light of the recent political climate, this podcast has renewed my enthusiasm, not only for this show, but for the promise of good government. The show is like the Political Bible, chapter and verse, that one can click on to get educated on the many issues that swirl around the beltway and impact our everyday lives. The acting is superb. Aaron Sorkin is a God. And I’m drooling over the rumors of a WW Reboot with an African American President. PLEASE, AARON, ANSWER OUR PRAYERS?!?!?! :-)
New girlfriend showed it to me, I'm catching up as quickly as I can. Thanks for your hard work.
what am i going to do when this podcast comes to an end? love hrishi and josh, love the guests, love the analyses, and of course, love, love, love the show. keep on keeping on!
I subscribe to 50 podcasts and this is the one I look forward to the most.
A must hear for West Wing fans. I delight in the commentary from the persepctive of a true fan. WW was always one of my favorites. I miss the dialog, I miss the amazing acting. You guys have given a second life to one of the great shows of our times. All showrunners should aspire to achieve this level of storytelling.
One of the best podcasts I’ve ever heard. With one guy on the “inside” —one of the actors in the series, and another guy on the “outside,” a musician — the podcast has a depth few others ever reach. Funny, touching, and convincing that American democracy can continue, if we work on it. Reassuring, given the current political madness in the Executive branch of our government. Well worth the time you’ll spend here.
This podcast is as excellent as the original TV program.
A very enjoyable pair.
I’ve been binge-listening to the podcast to get caught up and just can’t get enough. The guests have all been awesome and such a great blend of education and behind-the-scenes. I’m so appreciative of your efforts - no doubt it’s a ton of work. Thanks!
The West Wing Weekly is one of the only non-audiodrama podcast that I listen to, and how can I not, because they talk about my favorite TV series of all time, and they do so, so well. It's something my wife and I have to download each week, and we have started rewatching the series (for the zillionth time), watching each episode before we listen to the podcast. I love the interviews with the stars from the show, but I have really fallen in love with the people you talk to that take you behind the scenes of what goes on in the White House for real. It's facinating and something I never knew I cared about until now.
First-rate production value, insightful commentary, all-star guest list. This is podcasting at its best.
I’m legitimately concerned.
I have never been a person who could listen to talking- audio books and talk radio make me anxious and sometimes even angry. That’s why t took me so long to start listening to this one even though The West Wing is my favorite show of all time. Finally, about a month ago, I decided to give it a try and I have to say it’s been amazing. Josh and Hrishi have such a great rapport and the guests are generally so delightful that I’ve enjoyed almost every moment. I especially enjoy Josh’s puns and other “dad jokes”. I’ll be disappointed when I catch up to the current episodes and have to wait between listenings. I’ve even joined Twitter just to follow the show and it’s stars. Thanks for opening up the world of podcasts.
I’ve pr badly watched The West Wing about 10 times, but this podcast has given me a new appreciation for the show I’ve loved since I was 10. I also think it’s a great intro to the world of the show for those who have never seen it. I especially appreciate the guests who give background on policy and politics.
True Allusionist fan/adherent, Hrishikesh Hirway, correcting “cul-de-sacs” to “culs-de-sac” in the Pilot episode made my night. Just started “The West Wing” and glad to be guided through this world with laughs, trivia, and analysis.
It's like the show is still on. The podcast revitalizes the old fans and brings in new ones. Everyone is talking about how much they love it...The West Wing is always relevant. Fantastic job! P.S. I love having conversations with my high school teachers about The West Wing!
Needed to watch this show again. It has been great to realize that the moments I did not understand when I watched the first time flew over at least 2 other heads too!
For West Wing lovers, listen. It's fun & entertaining.
I didn't know this was missing in my life. Now I can't live without it.
I'm always happy waking up knowing Wednesday's, knowing a new ep is right around the corner ❤️
This is my first podcast review. I'm hooked-- these two are enormously entertaining (yes, even Josh), and it's a great excuse to watch again on Netflix. Also, tons of musical theatre references-- and Sorkin, Sorkin, Sorkin. Eat 'em up. (Oops, wrong show.)
I'm rewatching the show and listening to this podcast after every episode. It's great hearing from the Mr. Sorkin, directors, producers, and actors as they talk about the show. It is also interesting to hear from ‘real world’ guests who are still working through the issues The West Wing brought up. What's Next...
This was recommended by a friend and she did not lead me astray. I’m having a blast rewatching the episodes...from the beginning ... then listening to the podcast. Only at season 1 episode 4 but I am loving it!!
Thanks for helping us geek out each week. Love the banter and the analysis.
Long-time listener here, just a little late with the review. I'm really enjoying this podcast, and this week's discussion about Debate Camp with Ronald Klain was especially interesting.
This is one of the best produced podcasts. I love the hosts, stellar guests and it’s perfect for anyone who likes (or LOVES) The West Wing.
This podcast stands out among “tv show podcasts” as it is well connected to cast/crew, well researched with thoughtful commentary and well prepared with fun hosts.
I look forward to every new episode. Especially in these times it’s great to revisit one of my all-time favorite shows and watch stories of thoughtful governance. Joshua Malina and Hrishikesh Hirway are insightful, thoughtful and very amusing. Also enjoy hearing from some of the creative people responsible for the series.
Thank you both for an awesome podcast about my favorite show of all time! The the dialogue, the guests, the jokes and all the merch!!
If for only an hour a week this podcast makes me happy, it makes me think of better times, of a Bartlett White House. It’s smart, funny and delightful! Only wish each episode was longer so I never had to snap back to reality!
I don’t care what your opinion of the President is . You should treat the office with respect. As West Wing fans I would think you should know that. Keep your personal opinions to yourself and talk about the show.
Worlds colliding in two of my favorite podcasts when west wing weekly had the ladies from twop on! Love it!!
Started late to the game on the pod, but have watched the series at least 3 times. Now I get to watch it again with great insight and conversations. Thanks for bringing this pod to the world
What all is West Wing fans have been waiting for. A reason to rewatch and talk about the show we love.
Josh and Hrishi make it feel like you're chatting with friends over a glass of wine about your favorite TV show. Thanks for letting me live in this world a little longer!
Makes my week every week.
A terrific rewatch of one of my favorite shows with an entertaining mix of guests, including enthusiastic cast members, behind-the-scenes personalities and real-world experts. The charming hosts have easy chemistry and the finished product is a satisfying listen.
“Ok, what’s next?”
Totally enjoying watching the West Wing for the first time and listening to the ‘behind the scenes’ during the podcast.
This podcast is funny, sweet and uplifting when I’m trapped in my own “Trump ay-yi-yi” moments.
If you're a fan of The West Wing, this podcast will make you happy. I love the nerdy minutiae of the interactions between Hrishi and Josh. The special guest interviews are always great, and the insight the podcasts gives to the show and behind-the-scenes is wonderful.
I'm an avid listener of podcasts and this is the one I enjoy the most each week. It surpasses the concept of fandom in becoming a podcast about politics, issues and current events. Recommended for anyone with even a passing interest in The West Wing.
It is do much fun to relive the episodes of “The West Wing.” My “can’t wait” fix each week.
I love the west wing. The first hand experienced interviews are great!
Fabulous podcast. Insight not only from Josh Malina but many of those who helped create the show. Guests not only include cast members, producers, writers, Aaron Sorkin and behind the scenes crew, but also include RL politicians and others. Hrishi and Josh are brilliant together and though I've loved the show for years I've learned so much about how it was made through this podcast. Though big fans themselves, they provide a high level of critique, which is both discussion- and thought-provoking. I highly recommend it for anyone who likes the West Wing.
Nothing will ever live up to the excellence that was 'the West Wing' ever again. Aaron Sorkin is going to be remembered as one of the most skillful dialogue craftspersons we've ever seen. Hrishi is very articulate and a great producer and host. He always adds great insight to the episode and brings a vast array of Sorkian knowledge. The item that pushes this from a great to excellent podcast is Josh Malina. His role as a multi-timed mighty Sorkin player adds depth that you don't get on any other podcast of this type. His personal relationship with Aaron and the Hollywood community makes this one of the best podcasts on the internet.
Great podcast about a great show with great hosts and guests
The love that Hrishi has for the show is palpable and the fact that Joshua Malina was a fan prior to being cast makes it even better; by fans, for fans. Appreciate that they both can criticize the show without diminishing their affection for it. LOVE every time Allison Janney is on.
If you love the show, you’ll love the podcast. It’s so well made, clever, and interesting. As if I needed my love for The West Wing to grow any more, this podcast has made it happen.
Why has it taken this long for someone to do this podcast? So much fun and the right duo to take it on. As a super fan of WW, I don’t even need to rewatch each episode, but it’s been so fun watching and then reliving it with the guys. Thanks for the fun, trivia and laughs
The West Wing is such an iconic and lasting show. With the help of Netflix and especially this podcast, the West Wing is able to once again permeate our lives. In these troubled times the ability to spend an hour with Hrishi and Josh with in-depth discussion about the show is even better than Schwepp’s Bitter Lemon. Forget the wimpass Bond movie and come join us!
I look forward to Wednesday nights and downloading the new episode. Love this podcast almost as much as I love The West Wing!
Love this podcast
I've watched The West Wing all the way through many times for years. I'm grateful to be watching it again with the amazing addition of this podcast. Josh and Hrishi are witty and sweet and I love the interviews with cast and crew members!
I not only TIFOL each time I listen, but more often than not I audibly laugh at something said on this show. The shenanigans of Josh and Hrishi are a dish smothered in butter garlic-- delicious.
So much more than just an episode recap show! Joshua Malina and Hrishi Hirway have landed some truly impressive guests including Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and I hear they just got Martin Sheen!! Highly recommend.
Love the TWW and loving TWWW. Thanks Joshua and Hrishikesh, you are doing the world a great service (you gotta be a little impressed I got those names right just now).
First off I would like to say how happy I am that Romen Mars gave a shout out to this pod cast! Without him I would have never known it existed. I have been a huge West Wing fan for the past 3 years. I discovered and watched it on Netflix. Now that I am following along with the pod cast this will be my 5th time through all the seasons! This show is perfect. It has everything I need. The incite to episodes that I crave from Josh and guests, a detailed review and critique, and great discussion of the topics covered. I’m really glad that you guys are doing this podcast and please please KEEP IT UP!
They're funny. They're smart. They review my favorite show. What's not to love? I'm already grieving for when they've gone through all the episodes. Can't help but wonder what's next. 😉
Love this show, love this podcast.
The best way to “bring back” the best political drama of all time- an episode by episode analysis of the original show. I’ve been a listener since the beginning of the podcast, and a viewer of the show 8-12 times over. It inspired me to study politics for my undergrad. The show has inspired a generation of folks to get involved in public service, and is dated only slightly in attire, but hardly at all in political discourse and themes. The podcast wonderfully encapsulates each episode’s plot, and digs deeper than a casual viewing would often allow. So, “grab them by the Posse,” I write this on the day the Posse Commitatus podcast aired. Thanks Hrishi and Josh- you’ve got a big hit! Great work! What’s next?
It off oh crap my friends are gonna make some much fun of me when they find out I listen to a podcast about the West Wing
Love the chemistry between Hrishi and Josh. I'm a big fan! Great idea, great show to recap.
Hrishi and Joshi are the best for making this. I love listening and having them point out things that I didn't notice or mention things that bothered or delighted me. They use both a critical eye and their love for the show to dive deeply into each episode in a way that is both informative and fun. This podcast gets me through.
Always makes me laugh and revels something in each episode that I previously saw differently. I created a weekly meeting for myself at work to ensure I don't miss it.
Great guest interviews from cast, fans, and political figures. Reminds us all what we what in a President.
I'm thoroughly enjoying watching the series while listening to the podcast and breaking it down. It's also great hearing from former cast members or Mr. Sorkin himself. Great job gentlemen. What's next?
......of the work of the modern day Shakespeare, Aaron Sorkin.
Deep dive into the best show there ever was
This native of Manchester, NH already had the Trump ayayays before turning to rewatch West Wing while listening to this podcast. It is a sort of analgesic on the open sore caused by my daily news diet. I finally caught up to current. What's next?
I am a long-time West Wing fan & was thrilled to see a podcast devoted to analyzing the magic of this still important show. I subscribed Day 1 and looked forward to Wednesdays. Lately though, the hosts spend far too much time discussing historical minutiae, interviewing public servants, making political commentary & running ads.. When Josh & Hrishi focus on storyline, character development, writing, direction & behind the scenes insight, TWWW is a 5 star podcast. Otherwise, "What's next?".
The only way to make it better is if you promise to get Clark Gregg on for a Michael Casper episode!
...and that is saying something. Both hosts are clearly fans of The West Wing, and knowledgeable ones, at that, with an inside scoop that only a cast member could provide. Also, Justin Trudeau was a guest on an episode. What else do you really need to know?
Really enjoy listening to this podcast, but do get frustrated when Rishi and Josh stumble down a long rabbit hole.
Hirway & Malina are a treat. I look forward to each episode. If you are a fan of the West Wing, it's a must listen. If you've never watched the show, start watching and pair with this podcast.
I love this podcast! Its everything I wanted in a podcast when its talking about one of my favorite shows and the guests are brilliantly selected! I haven't missed an episode yet!
Huge fan of this podcast. I have been listening since the beginning, and last week while on a long drive my phone reverted to replaying these episodes in order. They are terrific, even in replay mode. Thanks, Josh and Hrishi!
This podcast is such a treat for longtime West Wing fans. I look forward to Wednesdays now, just because that's when I know a new episode will drop.
Seriously this podcast is amazing. I have been listening to them in chronological order and am almost caught up. I have loved every single episode. Josh and Hrishi are adorable in their bromance and they make me laugh out loud at least once per episode, usually more. West Wing is one of my favorite shows and I've seen every episode at least five times. I love hearing trivia about the episodes and hearing the cast talk about their experiences and getting new perspectives on the show. I am on board for all seven seasons! #bartletsarmy #whatsnext
A must listen for WW fans and a great way to get to know the series for those who have never seen it. Intelligent analysis and surprisingly full of info regarding the show's lessons and how they apply to current events. If nothing else, listen to Justin Trudeau! First in depth interview with him I have heard. Fascinating.
So grateful this podcast exists
I love The West Wing. I started listening to this podcast because I hoped it would give me additional insight into each episode. Largely, this has not occurred. It's wonderful when the hosts can get Allison, Richard, Brad, etc. on to talk about an episode, but otherwise I find myself bored out of my skull. I resorted to listening to the episodes at increased speed so I could finish them faster.
This is one of my favorite podcasts. It allows me to return to the happy fictional west wing where all is well. I love the commentary and special guests the hosts provide. I look forward to this podcast each week!
I've recently begun rewatching The West Wing (it's my 3rd time through the series), and I was so happy to find this podcast. It's the perfect companion to my rewatch. I'm a huge Scandal fan as well, so it's cool to have Joshua Malina as one of the hosts since he's been on both Scandal and The West Wing. I also think it's awesome that so many members of the original cast/production/writing team guest on the podcast. It's a joy to listen to this. Thank you so much for doing this podcast. Keep up the great work!!
Between Josh Malina's very dry wit and Hrishi's insane attention to detail and research, this is a super-fun podcast! I have a long drive once a week and always look forward to listening in the car on that drive. What will we all do once they've finished season 7?!?
I love the West Wing and I love this POD cast. Can't wait for next weeks show!!
Not really a fan of some of Joshs criticisms and the whole thing is kind of dry. A huge WW fan but not so much a fan of the podcast.
I love going back and taking a deep dive into this series.
These guys know there stuff and when they don't they bring in someone who does.
So enjoy indulging my fandom of The West Wing. Really love the guests and have fun hearing little details about the show's inconsistencies and quirks.
I look forward to this podcast every week. Love it.
Love the show from Metro Detroit Michigan. I have always been a visual person and listening to this makes me remember watching this show with my family in my younger years. I love all the guest speakers and it makes the podcast better every time. If you are even a small fan of west wing I recommend this to you!
A great look back at my favorite show Josh and Rishee??? Feel like my friends I welcome there opinions even when I disagree with them. It's amazing.
Love this podcast. Great guests, conversations, and analysis. Very comforting in this current political climate
Never given a rating before but you guys deserve it. I listen every week and love it!
If you're a die hard West Wing fan, you will love this podcast.
Just the best television, reborn as a podcast! Hrishi and Josh bring so much to the unpacking of each episode that it make viewing the episode again even more brilliant than at first viewing. Best podcast out there.
I started listening to the podcast from the beginning, since I really enjoyed the show. I anticipated the stories about several of my favorite episodes. When they got to the episodes, they would either talk about themselves or have a guest who talked about their time on the TWW. The hosts would barely talk about the episode. The supposed point of the Podcasts.
WWW explores the side roads and context of the most ambitious, bold, and large-hearted show of all time. These are the conversations I wanted to have as I watched the first time, and revisiting them today is doubly thought-provoking, and inspiring.
Great humor and insight with spectacular guests bring back all the memories of this amazing show!!!
See title for more.
They also have topical guests and insightful discussions that are still relevant in DC. Also it's hilarious.
Have been a listener since the podcast started and love that they've been able to bring in many of the cast and creators of the show. If you at all like The West Wing this is an essential companion to the show.
I'm a little late to the party but I just started listening and I love it!!! Love the guests, love Josh Malina. Love all of it. Thanks so much for doing this!
appreciate all they do ....
Great podcast! I do enjoy pretending to work as I listen intently to TWWW.
I really enjoy re-watching the West Wing. And now with Hrishi and Josh's podcast I have a reason to do so again (not that I needed one). Their commentary and interviews are great!
I LOVE your podcast SO much! And I just found out that a friend went to high school with Josh Malina... so there's only a couple of degrees of separation between me and ALL of these wonderful human beings. Thank you SO much for doing this! The TV show got me through the Bush years... now you're going to get me through what I'm hoping are the DT months. Please don't let this presidency last a year! (And you've made it WAY past 1,000 reviews on iTunes. CONGRATULAtIONS!)
This is my favorite podcast. My friends and I call it Christmas every Wednesday morning. The hosts are delightful and they have relevant guests from the show and government to add to the commentary. I love these guys. I never miss this show.
My husband and I have rewatch the series 4 or 5 times. I love that each week or so I get to learn a little bit more about this series that is so dear to me. I love these two guys. They're gentle, funny, progressive. Keep it up.
Never to be missed, anymore than I would have skipped viewing The West Wing on TV when it originally aired. Why none of the cable channels are airing the reruns is beyond me; so I rely on my memories of the episodes while listening avidly to the clips and reveling in the behind-the-scenes details that both the hosts and their interesting guests bring to the discussion. Yes, I'll have to break down & buy the whole series on DVD at some point - *just* so I can listen again to these podcasts in context with the corresponding eps; it's *that* good.
This podcast is a happy place for temporary relief from this crazy world - a "safe space" if you will. I've seen TWW about 750 thousand times, and this podcast is too fun!
Endearing and charming. Witty banter, great guests, and at the core, a show that is quite possibly the best in television history. What's not to love?
...oh so juicy. (Review left as per Josh Malina's request)
About a week before I discovered this podcast (a discovery that was a year too late - I really wish I had this as therapy for the election), I had been telling a friend that I really wanted some sort of multi-media "book club" for my favorite shows/movies/topics to delve into them more with supplemental materials and deeper thought. The idea was to recapture the level of analysis that I experienced in college. Man, did you guys deliver on that wish!!!! I'm still a bit behind, but binging to catch up, so I can't participate real-time. Thanks for existing!!!
Really fun to listen to.
Hirshi and Joshua are fantastic with their banter, their guests, their analysis and their passion for all things The West Wing. I love watching the episode after listening to their podcast. They tie in current events and cultural context booth at the time the show aired and today! Wednesdays are my favorite day of the week as they release a new episode every Wednesday. Can't wait for when they have their show with Aaron Sorkin for the Season 3 season finale. Thank you guys for keeping the West Wing alive and well. What's next?
Thanks for being an entertaining "safe space" to distract us from all the current insanity! You guys are the best!
I love Josh and Hrishi!
For fans of TWW, this podcast is about nostalgia and backstory. Josh and Hrishi have a great rapport and can pull great guests. I have been rewatching the series along with the podcast, which has truly been a light in dark times.
Tuesday's and this podcast is what I look forward to the rest of the year when Game of Thrones isn't airing. This wonderfully produced show entertains me to no end.
Love this podcast Joshua & Hrishi crush it every week. Like TWW itself it is so well crafted, thoughtful, & human that you can't help but come back again & again to hear what is obviously a passion for these to ambassadors of art. PS any chance of a live recording in Grand Rapids? ...what's next?
The whole team does a great job, not only do Hrishi and Josh do a great job entertaining us but the interviews, edits, and everything else are on point. Bascially a masterclass in how podcasts should be.
In a time when the all too real White House has many folks wondering where we are headed, how we'll get there, and if Steve Bannon is really that flexible, a return to The Bartlet Administration is a welcomed - nay - necessary escape. Hrishi and Josh are insightful and funny as they rehash the stories of the greatest writer of our time. They also facilitate phenomenal discussions with the prominent players of The West Wing worlds both factual and fiction. I look forward to this weekly treat and regularly revisit old episodes. Congratulations and thank you for this great podcast!
A must listen for West Wing fans. Like the show itself, Hrishikesh and Joshua combine depth & seriousness with a touch of humor. No fanboy recap stuff here. I love the interviews too.
A fantastic pair of guys talking about a television show that got us through the Bush years and now the Trump year. Don't stop doing this, it's keeping a lot of folks heads up!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this podcast. The chemistry between the two hosts is fabulous. Josh, in particular, makes me LOL. I might purchase a lapel pin just to do the signal with a co-listener!
This podcast makes rewatching my favorite series even more enjoyable. The special guests whether they are cast members, production team members, creator Aaron Sorkin, or current/former government officials add a terrific behind-the-scenes perspective. I like that even after multiple viewings, the podcast discussion sometimes points out things I've missed. Pairing longtime fan Hrishi with Josh who is re-watching for the first time is a great balance. What a perfect surprise appearance by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, I loved finding out he was a West Wing fan!
I'm not a review guy, but more people should be listening to this. Sorry for the paucity of the review, time constraints, just wanted to get my 5-stars on record.
Not just a cheering section, these are thoughtful discussions of each episode. I particularly like that they are responsive - if they get feedback about a prior episode and realize they goofed, they go out of their way to correct it with discussion and guests in the next episode.
Josh and Hrishi have lined up cast members, diplomats, policy makers... the freaking Prime Minister of Canada (what up, Trudeau!), all of whom still have an affection and nostalgia for the show and have substantive things to say about the issues The West Wing was trying to tackle.
If you are a fan of the WW-- new or old, you will enjoy the weekly deep dive into each episode. With top drawer guests from the show and real-life government counterparts (including heavy hitters like Canadian PM Justin Trudeau, each week is time well spent.
Best podcast ever.
The West Wing Weekly podcast is as good as the series was. The interviews with cast members are obviously great but so are those with experts on the various subjects dealt with in the episodes. I'm not sure how many other shows could stand up to this kind of deep analysis (maybe "The Wire") but I'm really glad Hirway and Malina joined forces to do it for this one.
I love this podcast. You guys are great! Thanks for all you do.
I would prefer hosts spending less time talking about themselves and more time on the show.
This podcast is so amazing. I wasn't a fan of the hosts when I started listening (didn't know much about them), but I am a HUGE fan now. They are the perfect duo- often in sync but with unique perspectives. Their friendship comes through and adds humor and genuineness (is that a word?) to discussions which are already colorful and interesting thanks to Aaron's outstanding writing. And you learn so much about social and political topics thanks to their interpretations and complementary guests appearances. Honestly, I could analyze and praise this podcast endlessly but I think it would be more effective to say I echo what everyone else has said and leave it there. Download and enjoy this awesome podcast!
Really love this podcast! Hrishi and Josh are a great duo and the perfect fit for this podcast. It's wonderful to rewatch The West Wing and listen to their discussion after, especially considering the current political climate. Good guest interviews as well. This podcast is both thought provoking and funny - just like the TV show!
charming and funny recap of the west wing. It often has me laughing out loud.
I fell in love with the show. Then I fell in love with this podcast. And now the two go hand-in-hand as I watch the series through again for the second time.
I am watching every episode before I listen to a podcast. I am so into this, y'all have won me over to the podcast side of the world.
I hung in there as long as I could because I love "The West Wing" as a series. However, the constant whining and nitpicking about anything the least bit un-PC that would happen in the series became intolerable. Sorry, but I'm out.
This podcast would be entertaining at any time, but it's especially wonderful these days to have a lovely break from our current political situation by revisiting the Barlet administration. Hrishi and Josh do a great job.
I’ve watched The West Wing 3 times and decided to listen to this podcast without watching the show along with the hosts and it’s so fun remembering the episodes through their eyes. The fun banter between Josh and Hrishi as well as their sweetness makes it obvious they have a genuine affection for each other. Also, I really appreciate when they bring in guests that are doing real work that parallels the episode. I’m learning so much. And, you can’t beat hearing inside stories from the cast. Emily Proctor was my fave so far, what a lovely, generous person. P.S. If you’re a scrabble player, Hrishi could help you with your triple word score.
This podcast has exactly the kind of in-depth analysis and insider info you're looking for. Josh and Hrishi are great hosts and very funny
I binge watched the West Wing in 2015 and I have missed it desperately since ... Then Josh Malina and Hrishi provided me happiness again. If you're a West Wing fan this is everything you've missed for the last 10 years.
I've been a loyal listener of the podcast since Day 1. I'm constantly baffled when Hrishikesh and Josh talk about the haters. Get over yourselves. These two men are doing the greatest thing for West Wing Fans. In depth dialogue about each episode, often with guests who bring even more insight! I love this podcast and I say thee yay Hrishi and yay Josh! "Look at where we are, look at where we started."
Perfect in every way. You'll learn some new words, too!
The West Wing is my favorite show of all time, and in addition to occasionally rewatching certain episodes, my wife and I always rewatch the entire season each election year. Usually, those rewatches would take us into the fall. In 2016, we were so hungry for the political hope and ideals contained within the West Wing that we were done with all seven seasons by February. We wondered what we would do for the rest of the year. Then Hrishi and Josh arrived on the podcast scene, and everything was okay. Hrishikesh Hirway is a podcasting whiz and avid West Wing lover. Joshua Malina is an alum of the West Wing cast, and a long time friend and collaborator of the show's head writer, Aaron Sorkin. Their depth of knowledge of the show, the insights they glean from the themes and character arcs within each episode, and their general hope for a political climate more like the West Wing's returning to our reality are just a few of the reasons why you should listen. They are clever, funny, and thoughtful as they break down an episode. Most of their episodes also contain a well-conducted interview with either a former cast or crew member of the West Wing, or a person from the real world who is enacting the kind of positive change for which the characters on the West Wing strive. The perspective each guest brings is always refreshing and enjoyable. These two gentlemen are the perfect guides for an in-depth viewing of the West Wing, whether you are rewatching it or just starting. Try it out, and make your world a little brighter. Thank you for providing us with this, Hrishi and Josh, that was awfully nice of you!
Ok? Ok! What's next!
The analysis is so in depth and the commentary so funny that I feel genuinely enriched after listening to each episode.
Finally a place to deep dive into all the fantastic nerdiness of West Wing without enduring the eye rolls of friends and family. Love the insights, friendly chemistry of the hosts and special guests. Fantastic!
I love the show, especially the moments that make me TFOL. I would love to see more critical engagement of historical inaccuracies presented in the show. There are moments when the complete gutting and rebuilding of the White House from the inside out during the Truman administration seem completely ignored. Josh and Sam starting a fire in a fireplace that had its flue welded shut before the West Wing existed or Charlie and an exterminator trying to get rid of termites from inside the walls, where the guys who want to research what the termites could tell them about what presidents smelled like were trying to research the termites. Also, even after Josh admitted he can't do math and said you were halfway through, there were multiple mentions of being through three and a half seasons! Don't get ahead of yourselves...we still have half a season to go before Josh joins the cast and ruins everything!
I love this podcast! Every episode is filled with conversation that ranges from light-hearted and funny to thought-provoking and inspiring. Many episodes bring tears to my eyes when the guest ends by asking, "What's Next?"
I love this podcast so much! I look forward to it popping up in my playlist every week!
WW (again) + WWW are giving me the escape from the actual political climate that I need right now like I need food and water. For those thinking of listening, it helps to be a total WW wonky wonk and to have watched the full series multiple times, as you will then be comfortable with ALL of the references and the texture of the podcast but as well to make sure you are fully, fully immune to thinking the hosts are picking the show apart. They are not --- they are commenting and discussing how to take perfection and make it nirvana!
I love listening to West Wing Weekly every week! As an avid West Wing fan and someone with very little knowledge of (but strong desire to learn about) the real life world of politics, I admire Hrishi and Josh's ability to have civil discourse, as they disagree on basically everything; and the wife array of guests have me researching new topics and expanding my love of TV and knowledge of politics. Highly recommend to West Wing fans old and new!
This is an amazing walkthrough of a series I love and has meant a great deal to me. A prefect way to remember and reflect on the show.
As addicting as the show itself.
Hrishi & Josh do an excellent job discussing each epsiode which are over 15 years old, but between "where are we these days with similar politics?" to stellar interviews with cast members, directors and crew, it's a great way to (re)appreciate a great show. I look forward to listening to Josh & Hrishi every Wednesday morning on my morning commute (it's the only way to enjoy the 405 freeway in LA)
Do you love the West Wing? Then you will love this podcast.
The combo of Hrishi and Josh is fantastic - I already loved Hrishi's work from Song Exploder. This is obviously very different but he has a talent for editing and leading the podcast, in my estimation. Overall this is a great show that brings a fan-heavy but not uncritical eye to the work
This has become my favorite podcast.
Watch the West Wing. But also listen to this podcast. But mostly watch the West Wing.
If you think you know everything about THE WEST WING, think again. This fantastic podcast analyzes every episode in-depth, armed with insights from insider Josh, superfan Hrishi, and an endless cavalcade of phenomenal guest stars from "real-life" politics and the show. You will learn something new about your favorite show every single week. Guaranteed.
Insightful, eloquent, and entertaining!
Love the guests that come on and give such insight to the episode or theme. Thanks for giving me a reason to watch West Wing again (and again)!
Josh and Hrishi are a great pair. Their dynamic is fabulous, the content superb and the guests are excellent. Every episode makes me laugh and I'm always learning something new. Perfect for WW fans new and old.
Love this! I'm binge watching and binge listening at the same time.
Wonderful guests, nice contrast between super fan Hrishi and dry wit and cast member, Josh Malina. In depth looks at the show itself, behind the scenes, wonderful guest stars including the incandescent Richard Schiff, master writer Aaron Sorkin and so many other cast and crew. Super impressed with the decency of the show and the people who made it. Okay? Okay. What's next?
Love listening to the podcast and hearing from the cast, Aaron and others. One of my favorite tv shows of all time and now I have a favorite podcast
How could these hosts and this show result in anything less than a wonderful podcast? Not possible. I only wish the episodes were longer. Sometimes I feel like part of the recaps/analysis are sped through for no reason (except perhaps that they can't think of anything else to say.) But nevertheless I love it.
With everything going on in the news today, it's refreshing to revisit the West Wing
A friend got me started on this podcast because of my devotion to the show. I was a little confused becuase like me, the show is getting older, but it turned out to be fantastic! I'm amazed by the guests and the report of the hosts.
SUCH a good show. Love these two.
Hrishi and Josh are a charming odd couple who share a love of The West Wing. The podcast is made up of bite sized DVD commentary-style rants, analyses, and memorable guests from the cast and crew. Come for the West Wing, stay for the Josh and Hrishi.
Brings back great memories of the greatest show in TV history
This podcast is more than the two great hosts--it is so well produced and edited. The guests add so much, not just to the discussion of the episodes, but to many current issues. But that doesn't even cover it. Josh and Hrishi work so well together. It is the one pod that I laugh out loud at.
I listened because I loved The West Wing and had a few minutes. I subscribed because they found a way to be smart, funny and relevant to to today using a 17-yr old tv show, not unlike the show itself. Bravo.
Awesome insights into an awesome show. Even after watching each episode 10+ times over the years, this podcast still opens my eyes to new nuances. I look forward to every new episode.
Each week is something fabulous about the Sorkiin show and actually informative as it relates to our current government situation. Please keep it up. Hrishi's voice is terrific.
Best Podcast ever. Hrishi and Josh are great and love revisiting TWW.
When a new episode appears, I drop all other podcasts to listen.
Literally watched 50 people (that is conservative) just in our section walk out halfway through the West Wing segment. WHY WOULD RADIOTOPIA THINK THIS WAS A GREAT FINAL SEGMENT?! We stayed until the end for some reason and walked out next to two different groups and all parties were complaining about it.
I watched the West Wing in real time and then have come back to it every couple of years since. I was a little late to the game with this podcast (didn't find out about it until October of 2016), but ever since I've been an avid listener. When I just received a promotion at work, my husband surprised me with the What's Next pin... haha, if that gives you a sense of my dedication. :) Thank you for Hrishi and Josh! And when you're done with West Wing, I'd like to put in a request for you to please continue with Sports Night next. :)
If you are a West Wing fan, you absolutely MUST listen to this podcast. It's fantastic. Thanks guys for giving us more West Wing to enjoy :) Josh & Hrishi are excellent as are ALL the guests. I am a podcast nut and this is by far my favourite.
This is a great podcast. Josh and Rishi do a fantastic job.
I decided to check it out because I loved Hrishi on Gilmore Guys and love the West Wing. This podcast is a perfect combination of funny, informative, entertaining, and political. My new favorite!
I loved the West Wing and enjoy going through it all again. This podcast is also a great exercise in storytelling. Often funny, always enjoyable.
After my 2nd re-binge of the landmark TV series, this podcast is a fantastic companion to the episode. Providing background info and interviews with cast members and behind-the-scenes creators would be enough, but a sprinkling of real-life political figures with experience in the real world West Wing and Washington life. Josh and Hrishikesh provide lively discussion and each week's experience is not to be missed.
My fiancée mentioned this podcast to me a few months ago when I went on a binge watching The West Wing but I was reluctant to pick up another podcast. I'm glad I gave in! Now on another watch through of the series I'm always waiting for the chance to watch the episode and follow up with the podcast to see what I may have missed and listen to the great guests that come on to talk about the show and cultural issues that come out of the episodes.
I sleep with these guys every night. Seriously. My "calm my brain" bedtime choice is WWW. This is the admin we need in the oval! Started watching the series from the beginning, and now love the interjection of information, humor, and even the criticism (Joshua!) of the show. My favorite podcast!
The only thing getting me through this administration. Plus Malina is less dislikable than I thought.
I'm so hooked on this podcast. The West Wing is such an iconic part of the history of American Television and this podcast does it so much justice. I love the balance of Josh and Hrishi hosting. Josh is an insider who can give perspective from the inside as an actor and cast member, while Hrishi is like all of us... A passionate fan wanting our favorite show to live on. Keep it up guys!
I started watching the WW on Netflix for the first time a couple months ago - never watched while it aired in network TV. I've already rewatched season 1& 2; it is one of those series that just holds up over time. The parallels and contrasts with today's political landscape are quite interesting and this podcast delves into those themes. It's interesting that Joshua has insights from his experience on the show and the two parry well together. (It's also the primary reason I've actually stuck to a daily one mile walk for over a month - listening to this podcast is my much anticipated treat whilst walking.)
Great compliment to my daily watching for the past eight years....
The West Wing is my favorite show of all time. I needed this in my life.
If you've watched The West Wing multiple times all the way through, this podcast is for you.
These two are engagingly funny, smart, and insightful, as well as self-depricating. I enjoy the banter between them as much as the commentary on the show. It is delightful to get insights into the WW show, and hear of the experiences of the various folks involved. I also deeply appreciate their political astuteness, it is such a sadly rare relief to hear men call out sexism and racism and take it apart at the seams. Excellent show.
Great dynamic between Josh and Hrishikesh. It just sounds like two friends talking about the West Wing. Only they are really good at dissecting each episode and bringing up viewpoints and thoughts that I haven't even considered. Great stuff here!
Really enjoying re-watching the show and listening to the podcast simultaneously
I was extremely excited when this podcast began, as I am a huge West Wing fan. It keeps getting better with more cast and crew members coming on as guests. The broadcast show saved my sanity when it was on and the podcast is saving my sanity now. I always want to know "what's next"!
As a fan of the show, its great to hear behind the scenes takes at how everyone got their start and where character choices/motivation come from.
Great to be given reentry into this world again and meet again the characters. Bravo!
A must-listen-to for "West Wing" watchers. It's the perfect companion piece and Josh and Hrishi are such a weird dynamic duo. I love hearing from everyone involved in the show and it's brilliant that the guys bring in political heavy-weights to comment on the accuracy of the series. Well done!
love the coverage on the show, but even more important is the time they take to interview real people - either actors or people in the government. fantastic.
If you love/loved The West Wing, you need to give this podcast a listen!
I love The West Wing Weekly with all my heart, soul, mind, body, and spirit. Josh and Hrishi are incredibly knowledgeable, entertaining, and engaging. Their discussions and guest stars are amazing--every episode is a home-run. I really do not know what my life would be like without listening to The West Wing Weekly every week! Great podcast, keep up the fantastic work!!!!!
For all West Wing fans, addict or newbie. Quite funny as well.
Smart, insightful, and funny. Best in class.
The perfect balance of nostalgia and current events. This is a great way to relive the wonderfulness that is The West Wing but also dive into current events related to the episodes!
As a huge fan of the show, this podcast is spot on. Funny, smart and great inside details. Can't wait till they get to Josh's episodes.
The conversations are entertaining and enlightening. It's awesome to hear other people geek out and love this show the way we "normal" people do. Keep it up guys!!
Art well done merits real discussion and the weekly deep dive into what is one of most intelligently written and performed pieces ever is stellar in the hands of these two. TWW was like good theatre and I love seeing it kept alive in this way.
This is a great podcast for both die-hard WW fans like me and those who may be interested in starting to watch the show now. What a great episode-by-episode guide. Watch an episode, then listen the the corresponding WWW episode. It's a terrific listen.
Please listen to this podcast. You will learn a ton and be entertained and get a voice crush on Hrishi.
This podcast is an absolute MUST-listen for any West Wing aficionado! Josh and Hrishi are hilarious but also insightful, and the guests they have on are phenomenal, not just people associated with the show but politicians, writers, professors...folks who have real hands-on experience with issues that certain episodes focus on. Can't recommend highly enough!!
Hilariously nerdy in the best way. In a time when politics seem so humorless and heartless, this podcast is a light in the darkness. The two hosts have such a great rhythm together, unmatched in podcasts.
I'm consistently amazed at how well the lessons of the show still apply to political life today.
I love this podcast and cannot wait for it to come out every Wednesday. I watched West Wing when it originally aired. I've probably watched it all the way through 2 or 3 times since then. Now I'm watching it again along with the podcast and it's so cool to hear backstories and interviews with guests. Love it! Thank you, Josh and Hrishi!
I look forward to every episode of this Podcast. Not only are Josh and Hrishi great at this, but I find that we are likeminded when it comes to analyzing the eposides. So much better than a message board, listening to two erudite people disciss this show which I have loved for almost 20 years. Thank you, Gentlemen. Keep up the good work, and the guest stars coming!
If you love "The West Wing" you need this podcast in your life. It's the kind of in depth, honest, funny, and smart love letter your favorite show deserves.
I'm a West Wing junkie and had watched the series 4 times on my own, and again once more when making my wife. When I heard about this podcast, I was excited because I'm such a fan of the series. It has seriously been all I hoped it would be. The conversations are interesting, and it has given me a good excuse to spend time with my favorite characters again. If you haven't watched the series, this podcast would still be good. But for a long time fan like me, it is just what I never knew I always needed. Thanks H & J - I now look forward each week to my Wednesday commute, which is no easy feat.
Love this show nearly as much as I love the west wing, and that's a lot. Great analysis and unpacking. I'm really enjoying rewatching each West Wing episode then listening to Hrishi and Josh discuss it. One of my favorite podcasts.
Intelligent, thoughtful, funny, insightful, an excuse to re-watch the best TV series ever ... What's not to like?
Will we have reruns:)
The discussion on @WestWingWeekly has always been great, but the I&I discourse was superlative. I love Sorkin as a writer, but I don’t think any fandom is served by expressing your love in hagiographic terms. Digging deep into what makes I&I tick, and having a robust, nuanced conversation about strengths and opportunities of such a critically polarizing episode makes me appreciate the highs and lows of Sorkin’s body of work even more. Outstanding work, guys. Please keep up the phenomenal work.
I love the West Wing, so any reason to revisit it is great! This show is hosted by a former cast member of the WW and his friend, they are also occasionally joined by other members of the cast, politicians, and others. Josh has a slightly cynical humor and treats each episode with a grain of salt, Hrishikesh is the optimist of the pair, always trying to find the positive point of the episode. If you enjoy the show, and miss it, this is a great way to relive it, and to hear some insights on your favorite show.
Just wanted to leave a quick note to thank Josh & Hrishi for this podcast--I've gotten back into listening to podcasts recently and this one is my favorite. It spurred a full West Wing rewatch and I am enjoying each and every episode. I'm also really grateful to those involved in The West Wing for their interviews on the podcast, particularly Aaron Sorkin, Bradley Whitford, and Richard Schiff.
Just a great in depth look at a great show. Thanks!
This is awesome. I look forward to it each week, kinda like we used watch TV back in the day. Two smart and funny guys.
I love the West Wing and this show has great interviews and does great recaps of the show. Josh can be a little over the top but that is who he is. I would recommend this show to any west wing fan.
Thoroughly enjoying the podcast, which takes an episode-by-episode review of the West Wing. The chemistry between Josh and Hrishi is magic. They both are just as big a fans as I am and provide a nice insider (Josh) / outside (Hrishi) combination. The guests are such a treat. Great job!
Josh and Hrishi do a great show every time as they discuss an episode The West Wing. Aided by a range of fantastic guests, they cover plot lines, key moments, behind-the-scenes anecdotes and observations, and much more. I always look forward to Wednesdays--the day new episodes are released.
Back in college I took a literature course that dove in deep to one of my favorite book series, The Lord of The Rings. That course blew. It tried to find meaning and symbolism in everything written. Ugh! I was afraid that WWW would also ruin a good thing. But I was wrong. If you are a WW fan, you will not be disappointed. Subscribe today!
Friendship, Sorkin, and the West Wing. Best of everything.
Easily my most favorite podcast. It's like discussing your favorite tv show with your equally obsessed but more knowledgeable friends.
Fantastic interviews, thoughtful and occasionally snarky analysis, hilarious, thoroughly enjoyable. It makes my ole west wing loving heart happy.
I love this. I look forward to each Wednesday. The production value is very well done.
I was a casual viewer of the show in the last two seasons, but really got into it when the seasons were released on Netflix. I know I was a dumb teenager at the time it first aired, but had it gotten my attention then I would've done MUCH better in civics class. Joshua is very charming and speaks about the series very eloquently. It's inspired me to rewatch my favorite episodes and continue to grip on way Joshua's career isn't bigger than it is! Please keep the episodes coming, I can't get enough!
My new favorite podcast
I just finished binging to catch up on this wonderful podcast. I love the interviews and connections to real people involved in similar situations to those portrayed on The West Wing.
If you're a West Wing junkie, or just a general fan of Aaron Sorkin, you'll love this in depth exploration of his 2000's hit series that centers around the US President's staff. Fun hosts and plenty of guests make this a really fun way to journey through the West Wing story like you never have before.
I have watched the entire series many times, and am listening to the pod cast BEFORE I rewatch each episode this time around. It's fun to look for the things that come up in the pod cast that I may have missed on my own. Josh and Hrishi are laugh-out-loud funny, and I love the insight provided by the guests. This is an awesome idea that has been wonderfully executed. Thank you to all involved for taking the time the create this and share it with the rest of us.
Honestly, my favorite podcast. I laugh, I cry, I tell everyone I know about it. It's the only podcast that I'm consistently caught up with. & the TWWW merch is fab (so is Hrishi all of the time and Josh sometimes 😄) 💕
TWWW is my go-to podcast whenever I'm in the car. I've laughed, I've cried, I so enjoy it! If you loved the show, you'll love the podcast even more.
Hopefully Hrishi Hruins a Musical!
Over the last few years, I’ve gradually done two back-to-back rewatches of The West Wing, the 2nd of which concluded just this morning (Sunday 26 March 2017). With me continuing to listen to this excellent podcast, I’m tempted to start a 3rd full rewatch and not give The West Wing itself a rest until the podcast concludes. This isn’t any normal podcast. In addition to excellent analysis & commentary by the two hosts, one of which was a cast member of The West Wing for four seasons, they have a lot of special guests, including main cast members, recurring & guest actors, writers, directors, real life politicians, and the creator of the show himself, Aaron Sorkin. These guests provide a lot of behind-the-scenes insight into the process of making the show and what it was like being a part of it. Every Wednesday is a treat getting a new episode of the podcast. I look forward to more insight into the remaining five seasons.
Excellent podcast. The hosts are funny, thorough and good at interviewing the guests.
What a great podcast!
This is the best podcast! I just wish they didn't need to take breaks, of course, I know Josh and Hrishikesh have real jobs, so I guess I can wait. ;-) Again... amazing! Thanks guys for all the hard work.
I love how well this show balances both talking about the episodes for all their great story elements/character moments/visual choices, and the interviews with the pros who contributed to The West Wing's greatness: everyone from the actors you already known in front of the camera to the creative crew behind the scenes who made each episode special.
You'll fall in love with The West Wing all over again
Re-watching the episodes is fascinating. Learning insider information about writing, producing, and performing as the show's behind-the-scenes world is revealed is equally fascinating.
This show is smart, funny, charming, and creative - if you even mildly liked The West Wing, you'll love this!
I missed this show when it first aired (I was just 10, but remember seeing promos), but fell in love with it during college. I still watched an episode from time to time, but this series has reignited the passion. I love watching the episode before they discuss it, and it's a wonderful bonus to hear from those who worked behind the scenes (actors, writers, directors, etc.) on what made each episode so special. I never miss an episode!
Look forward to every episode. Keep em coming!
Josh and Hrishi have a fantastic dynamic and they play off each other beautifully. Hrishi's ridiculously articulate nature, professional work ethic, and sincere love for the show creates an infrastructure for fans to geek out in. The guests these two are able to bring in keep the podcast fresh and fascinating, and provide a new spin on episodes that people like me have watched countless times. I'm so grateful for this podcast, and it makes me look forward to every Wednesday.
Really fun to hear the background and insight into one of my favorite shows.
This close reading of one of my all-time favorite shows takes me back to my English major days in the very best way. The topics are equally entertaining and enlightening and the hosts are utterly charming.
Love how much of a hamisha yid Malina is - waiting to run into him in Schul one day. This is a fun podcast but if you want your mind expanded then definitely also subscribe to Hrishi's other podcast - song exploder.
The West Wing is one of my all time favorite shows and TWWW is now my favorite podcasts. Always well researched with excellent guests, including many members of the cast and crew. The insights of a super fan (Hrishi) and ensemble player (Joshua) are great.
Are why I love the show and the podcast. So...not for everyone. But I live for episodes with cast members.
I watched the West Wing several years ago and loved it, but then somehow forgot how brilliant it was. And then, along came Hrishikesh and Joshua. Suddenly, I'm watching the series all over again, keeping pace with this weekly podcast. The two hosts play off one another wonderfully, and the guests they have on most weeks not only give wonderful insight in to each episode, but often in to real-world issues that follow those on the show. I look forward to this podcast more than most in my feed!
I loved the show, and am happy to reminisce.
I found this podcast inadvertently, and now it is my absolute favorite. That lead to me signing up for Netflix so I could watch the series again all these years later. Given the politics of today and what is happening in 2017's *real* West Wing, the series and the weekly discussion of what what going on during the original airing makes it easier for me to put the incredulousness of real world today in the proper perspective. Thank you Josh and Hrishi, for reminding us why we loved this show so much, and for calling out the little things that made it so good and thank you Aaron Sorkin, for giving us a roadmap for putting things back together when our current nightmare is over.
If you love the West Wing, you will adore this podcast. Intelligent banter & great subject matter.
There is no better escape and this podcast. It's funny, well thought out, and never disappoints. Definitely worth a listen. I literally talk about it all the time as though I'm friends with not only them, but the characters on the West Wing. Is it sad, maybe. I think I'm OK with that though.
Wife and I just started watching West Wing for the first time. We were busy having babies when it originally aired. Loving the insight that this show gives. Down side is that we are catching up to the episodes in the podcast. Keep going!!!
West Wing is my favorite show of all time. I have binged watch the entire show at least 25 times. Now watching it in tandem with the podcast has made the viewing fresh again with great insights. I highly recommend this to any new or old fan of the show.
I count the days of the week like this now, Monday-Tuesday-WestWingWeekly-Thursday-Friday-Saturday-Sunday.
I love listening to Hrishi and Josh banter back and forth (and bring on the puns!).
I never write reviews but I love this show so much. I literally LOL in my car during painfully awful commutes to work. I adore Hrishi's blatant feminism and profound insights which are matched perfectly with Josh's wit and charm! I've watched the West Wing an embarrassing amount of times and this show gives me a fresh, new perspective! Seriously guys, you're a phenomenal team! Ok. Ok. What's next?
It's fantastic. If you love The West Wing, you will love this podcast.
I'm a huge West Wing nerd and love this podcast. What's next?
I love this podcast! I love the show and Hrishi and Josh make this podcast really fun. Add in the special guests, actors, writers, crew and extra effort Hrishi (let's be honest Josh :-)) puts in with extra research. This is really a great podcast. My only issue is that I discovered it back in Dec and got to listen to at least 2 a week. Now that I am caught up......I have to wait for new onese to come out. Love it- thanks guys!!
This is a great podcast-entertaining, witty, insightful. I'm reliving The West Wing series and enjoying every minute. The integrity of the Bartlett Administration is also a nice contrast to unpredictable and less thoughtful tendencies of the current White House.
I absolutely love this podcast. Hrishi and Josh are hilarious and have great conversations and interviews. It brings the magic of the West Wing alive again after 20 years.
still catching up on back episodes, but what a great way to counter the horrible political reality we are living wih at present. Josh and Hrishi have a fabulous chemistry and I am thoroughly charmed. Getting the back story on the episodes, which I thought I already knew well, has been a great pleasure. Consider me addicted- and yes, I already got the pin. Enjoy every episode and can't wait to see "what's next?"
thank you for letting me relive my WW love! I love all of the background knowledge and hearing from the actors and writers!
Following along religiously and rewatching the series for probably the fifth time. Great inside take and real stars as guests! Lots of fun. Only complaint is I could do without the "election 2016: we lost, woe is me" stuff quite so constantly.
This podcast is the highlight of my week (as far as podcasts go) I find myself laughing out loud so much at the gym, body builders run away in terror. Keep it up!
I so needed a reason to start over at season 1 and watch again (for the 7th time or so). Thanks guys!!
A friendly, intelligent, and uplifting series that's a much needed reprieve in today's political climate - while still talking about the elephant in the room! The show is more than a recap on a timeless series of teleplays. Josh and Hrishi charm with their thoughtful, touching, and memorable insights into a still relevant political drama. The provocative issues woven into The West Wing - such as capital punishment, access to education, support for veterans, and "Cartographers for Social Justice" among many other - are astutely addressed in by Josh and Hrishi and their special guests. Their diverse range of guests and stars similarly makes TWWW a pleasure to listen and look forward to. As a New Zealander working in mental health advocacy in NYC, I've been stoked to see topics around conditions like PTSD and Autism given respectful attention and raised awareness. The special guests provide in-depth primers to their fields and have further broadened the perspectives and scope of my work. Whether you were a fan of the show, have an interest in social and political issues, or just want to be entertained, TWWW is the podcast for you. Thanks, Josh and Hrishi, for all your incredible work!
Great conversations, insights, interviews, puns, dad jokes, music, laughs, guests, and very well produced. If you like the tv show, you'll love the podcast.
The hosts are charming and the subject is indelible. The guests, the insights, the history, it's all a superbly crafted experience and I really look forward to it showing up in my feed every week. What's next?
Rich content, great guests, thoughtful comments. Good chemistry between the two hosts. They ask guests the questions I'd want to ask, and I love getting to hear from so many of my favorites from the show.
I am a huge fan of the West Wing and have watched it a lot. Listening to this podcast has allowed me to discover a lot of new things about the show that I didnt know before. Also, the guest they have on the show help bring even more information and behind the scenes information. The best is Hrishikesh (thank G-d its spelled at the top of this so I dont mess it up) and Josh are really funny and work really well together. I started listening to other podcasts that talk about my favorite TV shows like this one does and they are terrible. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK GUYS!!!!
What I crave - what all of us lefty politics wonks crave - is some smart, articulate, passionate, evidence-based government. I was already re-watching TWW, but this is the perfect reboot to the episodes I've seen time and time again. Thanks guys!
This is hands-down my favorite podcast. Hrishikesh's earnest affection for the West Wing and its charcacters and Josh's irreverent approach to his role in the show make for a really stand-out combination of hosts who balance each other nicely. It is a real joy to relive this show, always one of my favorites, each week. My Wednesday morning commutes have become my favorite because I always have a new episode of TWWW in my feed. As an added bonus, I really respect and admire their approach to tackling tough topics, especially their geniune apology and enthusiasm to correct a slightly dated approach to thinking about autism in a recent episode. These two chappies re-addressed the issue with such graciousness and humility!
