Release the podcast to Garnett! Game Fly isn't doing anything with it!
I'm going on a podcast rating spree right now, but I can't help but star with my favorite podcast that's been defunct for an alarming two years already. Just wanted to drop by and share some love for this show, it's people, and it's format. Cheers.
While the run is over, I wanted to thank everyone on the show as you brought me great gaming news and entertainment for the 6 or so months that I was subscribed. I’m sorry to see it end and hope that everyone finds a new home that they like.
Can't wait to see what Garnett and friends do next.
I will miss my weekly video game show. I appreciated it immensely. Garnett and Jeff are like old buddies of mine after listening for years. I hope another show comes together soon. I actually got a little choked up at the very end. Wow, great run guys. If Garnett moves to NC to work for Epic, I will try to befriend him, to keep hearing his video game opinions!
This by far is the greatest video game podcast ever I am so sad that it had to end but I can't wait for the new one....
This podcast has been something I've looked forward to every week for the past three years. These guys/girls are incredible and they've never held back on there opinions which is extremely refreshing. Also, Garnett, you don't owe us anything. You've put your all into this show and it shows. Wherever you all go I'll definitely be right behind you. So thank you
I've been listening since mid-2011ish... so yes this review is way too late. This is hands down one of the best podcasts out there and by far the best in the category of gaming and in general, the enjoyment of life. GL, 2Ns1T and the rest of the cast bring something a little different each week that makes this a pure joy to experience. I just hope the team can find a way to keep the show going and I'm beyond disappointed that previous backers have now pulled out of such a great series.
I started listening to the podcast for a month or 2 now. And I must say I really like it. Diversity from all platforms around, entertaining and honest. I like Garnet Lee's opinions, I can relate to what he says. I really like all the other hosts and their all fun and profesional about their topics. Keep up the great work!
Its good. Trust me
I like the episodes where they get wasted and yell at each other about video games!
This is a fantastic podcast. They cover a huge range of games, where the industry has been and where it's going, and everything in between. Their opinions are informed and backed up by both experience and a love of gaming. They have a great rotation of guests, and the regulars (Andrew, Jeff M., Andrea, Nicole, Ozzie, Christian) all offer interesting and different opinions. The show strikes a good balance of what they've been playing and industry news, and the discussion is often fun and occasionally heated. I very rarely feel that they dwell on one topic too long. For me it seems to be in line with what's going on in the industry. Jeff C. is great as a cohost (is he a cohost?), and his opinions are always particularly well thought out and supported. And whether you agree or disagree with Garnett Lee, there is no denying that he is an expert host and does a fantastic job moderating the discussion and keeping the show moving forward. I have TAL, Radiolab, and SYSK in heavy rotation, but Weekend Confirmed remains the podcast I look forward to the most.
One of the best produced podcasts around. They all record in the same STUDIO. That’s great in itself that they give enough of a crap to take the time out of their week to do it. Great stuff.
Love the wide range of games they cover in the shows. Garnett is awesome as always and he supporting cast is just as strong. Keep it up!!
Was a good podcast, now all they talk about is gta. They have a person their to talk about pokemon and still all they talk about is gta been going on for 4 weeks, enough already, done with this podcast
I can sum this review up in one sentence. Weekend Confirmed gives you real world reviews, news and discussions that make you think and appreciate video games beyond what any other podcast offers. Thank You!
Great Show. Been listening to it for awhile now. Reminds me Giant Bombcast at times. Give it a listen.
Every Saturday morning I'm listening... I love that you go deeper into video games than just the reviews... Some of you insights and conversations into culture of videos games is the best. Keep up the great work and thanks!
i was a big fan for about a year and now its just bad. they are PC elitists and xbox apologists. it wasnt a big deal in the beginning because it wasnt that bad. but now its just getting worse and worse. they go on and on while being ignorant and arrogant and its just horrible now. i can't deal with them anymore.
One of the greatest gaming podcasts out there. Second to The Giant Bombcast, in my opinion, but that is a high bar to clear indeed. LOVE Jeff Cannata but don't trust his TV recommendations (the shield is bad).
till uber feminist Garnett Lee starts talking about women in any capacity. Several times he's been more butthurt for women than the women who are co-hosting the show with him! Although I do agree with him for the most part, the groveling he engages in to fall at some concieved altar for male castration and shaming people into his sense of fairness is too much. You are a lesser human being if you disagree with him.
I am admittedly conflicted in this review. I followed Garnett Lee here from his 1UP days and appreciate his banter and candidness, and most of the guests/co-hosts are generally tolerable. However, I can no longer tolerate the horrible lisping of Andrew Yoon. Some people are not meant for audio-centered media. People who have lisps so terrible it makes them difficult to understand are one subset of those kinds of people. I can't take it anymore. Luckily, turnover seems relatively high in the games industry, so maybe i will check back in a few months and see if he has moved off the podcast. If i remember...
Best gamer podcast out there hands down!
Love the roundtable format. Garnett is a good host though a bit of a know it all and seems to stay contrary at times even when his argument isn't sustainable. I respect most of the input from the panel and take their opinions into account when making purchase decisions. Sometimes negativity can reign supreme, even when discussing games they enjoy.
i dont know whats going on with not being able to fast forward anymore! Sometimes my itunes messes up and the podcast gets booted for whatever reason and i cant go back to the point where i was at. its actually got to the point to where im debating about not listening to your show anymore. i really like u guys and im guessing your're doing this so people dont fast forward through commercials but there's over consequences for doing that
One of the few podcast's that I need to listen to every week. Can't start my weekend w/o it.
It's not a great weekend until I get to download an episode of WeekEnd Confirmed! The insightful views of both Garnett , Jeff and the AWESOME supporting casts are exactly what I need to hear to get my gaming fix. Listening to this show is second to my video game hobby. Garnett and Jeff you both ROCK! Thank you so much for everything!
Best gaming podcast I've been able to find.
Amazing, I look forward to this every week it makes my week
This podcast is amazing, a must listen for anyone interested in gaming, technology and the industries that back them. Just a little over a week ago I listen to my first episode after E3 and have not been able to stop, going as far as to listen to prior episodes just to get more content. I love the in-depth discussion about games that I’ve played that and even some that I haven’t played which has motivated me to pick up some more games and become a bigger part of the gaming community. Furthermore what make this podcast truly great is the discussion about the technology hidden behind the games and gaming industry as a whole. From game reviews to developers motives to tech specs there isn’t much else to ask for expect more episodes!!
Jeff Canata aside, it's a pretty good show. He should let some of the other folks talk a bit.
They are ok.. A little biased for my taste
One of the few podcasts I regularly make a point to download and listen to. Great show with great conversations about the current video game news
Absolutely my favorite podcast.
Weekend Confirmed gives an honest and well-articulated view on games and the gaming industry. As someone who has played games my entire life, my scope of what goes into making and marketing a game was pretty limited. Even though I had little interest in these kind of topics initially, Weekend Confirmed manages to touch upon these topics in a fascinating way.
Love the banter and the reliability of a podcast every week. Keep it rolling Jeff and Garnett!
Best place to meet for intelligent discussion and introduction to the best gaming has to offer.
Awesome show! Great guests every week that share amazing insight into the gaming scene. Jeff Cannata is hilarious. He brings whimsy to every episode he is on. Garnett Lee is a good host as well. He knows what he is talking about. Garnett does have a problem with acting like a child when he gets a little passionate about something. When he gets flustered, he tends to stop make good arguments and just throws a tantrum. Also, he frequently makes jokes that could be heard from a middle school cafeteria. Other than that it is an awesome podcast about video games.
This podcast is one of the best out there. Sound quality is amazing. Everyone on the show seems to be very knowledgeable. They need to get Brian Leahy more often.
This show is very insightful and fun to listen to.
Cannot believe this is ranked 28th for games & entertainment podcasts. That is absolutely cruel and borderline criminal. This is absolutely leagues ahead of any other gaming podcasts in terms of commentary, talent, insight, entertainment, etc. The fact that the cringe inducing casts of Giantbomb, IGN, etc get more downloads is just cruel. This is the absolute best and the golden standard for gaming podcasts--bar none. It's unfortunate for Garnett that the marketing and mindshare of IGN trump Shacknews---since that is the only reason they are ahead. Either way---keep it up and everyone spread the word!
I always 'cannata' wait to listen to this podcast! An informative and interesting conversation about gaming every week.
Tried many but this is the only one I've come back to time and again. Great work!
Love this show. Jeff C is so awesome… Garnet is good too, but Jeff is the reason I listen! Great cast rounds out the whole thing!
I subscribe to many video game podcasts and I can easily say this is one of the better ones out there. Jeff is probably the smartest guy on the show.
Great podcast, Garnett Lee is one of the best hosts out there.
Awesome podcast that I await every Friday. These guys (and Nicole) give me all the video game news I can handle and all of the opinions and observations seem so astute. These aren't just a bunch of needs talking from their mom's couch, they're well educated individuals. Great job guys.
amazing podcast! would suggest to anyone! their chemistry is awesome! 2NS1T, Garnett Lee, Indie Jeff Mattis, and all their amazing guests are awesome. very knowledgeable on games and other stuff as well. you can't go wrong with the entertainment they give you! if there was a monthly sub i would pay for it
This is a great video game talk show. I love Garnett and Jeff and Jeff and Nikole and everyone. I look forward to Fridays to hear their take on recent games, gaming news, and honestly, to just hear their banter.
I'm not a big fan of this podcast. Pretty lame. One guy has a kids voice. They talk a lot, but really don't seem to know their facts very well.
Garnett & co do a great job mixing news, option & topical game related conversations.
I started listening way too late to this podcast. I love the insights on games. In fact, I was hooked when on March 8 episode you talked about Dark Souls. It actually made me go back and buy that game again to finish off all the achievements I had not gotten from my first play through. I almost bought a Wii U with the review of Monster Hunter! All in all love the show, its a great way for me to get through work at my boring desk job. You have inspired me to play more video games again so can't thank you enough. Love the opinions and keep up the great work! I have told my buddies about this podcast too! It's so good that I have gone back to listen to previous old podcasts. Definitely a highlight on Friday when I referesh the podcast and it pops up! I'm like sweet 2 hours of great video game talk!!! Marc from Chicago
Love this show!
One of my favorite parts about my Fridays is listening to the people on Weekend Confirmed talk about their time playing the latest games! It is always entertaining and you simply can't go wrong downloading this hot, tasty, buttery pod.
Nothing beats coming home every friday and listening to Weekend confirmed while playing my favorite games. I never miss an episode!
There is a reason this show is my week ending podcast, and that is because it's just the thing needed to usher in the weekend with. It has great laughs, personality, and always leaves you guessing as to what is going to happen next. It's like a good movie but in podcast form!
By far my favorite podcast, couldn't recommend it more. Some of the most intelligent people, creating extremely well thought conversations.
Story time with Nichole rules!
Weekend Confirmed is a great show. I enjoy listening to Garnett Lee's weekly analysis of video game news within the industry; as well as the opinions of most of the guests He & Jeff Cannata have on the show. Garnett, Jeff, great job on the show you guys. Keep up the good work.
I believe her name is Nicole. She has nothing of value to add, her voice is shrill and much louder than the male voices. She sing-songs her thoughts like a valley girl. I've had to turn off shows because she's so annoying. Otherwise the show is informative, and interesting when they are actually talking about games.
Have listened to Garnet since the 1up days and while some guests can be annoying, for the most part its a great gaming podcast! You told me to rate the podcast to I did :P
I don't always agree with the WC crew, but I *always* tune in to hear their take on gaming. They have a diverse array of guests, and aren't afraid to spend some time on a good topic. It's way more than another gaming news feed, it's good discussion. My only suggestion would be to understand that the gaming populace is also aging, and that the occasional bashing kinect or Skylanders may tickle the hardcore's ego, but it insults those of us who game with or around our family.
This show is a weekly staple for me. Informative and entertaining. Wonderful!
This podcast is hands down the best gaming podcast out there; the experienced cast members (apart from all having great radio voices) have great personalities, talk about the all genres of games and gaming over a multitude of platforms, and about the latest news from all the publishers and debs in the industry. They're hilarious and have gotten me through many many weeks of tedium. And being a girl, I love hearing Ariel, Andrea and Nikole on the show and it's so great that they're making it in male-dominated industry. TL;DR if you like gaming, you'll like this podcast.
I don't listen to it all the time but do get a good amount enjoyment when I do. The crew does a great job at talking about games, gaming and culture.
I love the personalities they bring in week to week. Thank for a great show guys!
I strongly recommend just sub'ing and enrich your gaming life. I'm sad that Jeff Mattas is gone, but the show is still quality. A must sub for anyone that enjoys gaming news and discussion.
Started listening to Weekend Confirmed a couple months ago and was instantly hooked. It's very much like 1UP Yours in format. Garnett is a great host and the rest of the cast that joins him is great. Every week they talk about gaming news and current games. Lots of interesting topics, lots of humor. A great podcast to listen to if you like video games.
1up may be dead but one of the best things about it lives on in the form of Weekend Confirmed.
I really like this podcast. Garnett, Jeff Cannata and guests always bring unique analysis that really stands out amongst other gaming podcasts. They cover a wide spectrum of topics in a very thoughtful way. The show really stumbles, however, when Andrea Rene is on the show (approximately 1 out of every 4 espisodes). Not meant to be any sort of personal attack against her, but she really doesn't have any business being on any sort of gaming podcast. Her inability to deliver anything that is even marginally worthwhile to the show is quite evident, especially in the face of the excellent commentatry taking place all around her. Episodes with her as a guest are almost unlistenable.
Keep up the great work. The podcast is very high quality. #1 podcast!!
Garnett/Cannata and the rest of the regulars have one of the best podcasts around. Their comedic talents combined with the analysis give real insight into what is happening. Listening to Weekend Confirmed has made my gaming experience better, I can't tell you all the gems I have played thanks to them. Best wishes guys!
I'm a recreational gamer at my most intense, but Weekend Confirmed never fails to deliver some laughs, insight and good and entertaining information. The range of views and discusssions on the massive and fascinating industry of video games is always enjoyable and I find myself looking forward to its release every week.
Garnett is great at leading discussions and provoking his guests, Jeff C is hilarious and super intelligent, and the guests are always great.
Best way to start the weekend.
Been following Garnett Lee and his revolving door of gaming's more interesting voices since the 1up yours days. I don't buy as many games as I used to, but I still live hearing passionate debate about the latest titles, and am always grateful for my Friday fixes of gaming goodness. Keep rolling on Mr. Lee, and I'll keep listening. Also, more Cannata whenever possible, as I'm sure you'll agree.
First off let me say that Nikole is all kinds of wonderful. Also it's disappointing that with the departure of Ryan we lose Dailies, Question of the Week and Behind the Scenes. As far as a review goes. The podcast as a whole is very good. There are times when one of the speakers gets a factoid wrong or misrepresents or interperates an aspect of a game and then bases their opinion on something that was never right. But I don't expect anyone to be a 100% correct all the time and when someone is wrong the next time they appear offer a mia culpa and move on. Garnett does take some getting used to. If there ever was someone that embodies the term man child he would be it. Thankfully for my sanity he is not that all the time and can approach topics seriously while still maintaining a this hobby is awesome attitude. The other guests each bring their own likes and dislikes (I'm waiting for Jeff to announce that he is getting Deadly Premonition Director Cut). Do I always agree with them? Of course not, that would make for a very .. actually that would be wonderful. What am I listening to these jerks for. You know what, this review is horrible. Here's the thing. I started listening at about episode 10. I listen every week. I'm also on my third go through of all the past episodes (Still miss Brian). I believe, with the exception of This American Life, this is the longest running podcast I still listen to consistently. Do I sometimes want to scream at one of the people, sure. Maybe I also sometimes want to give them a high five. But not both. You can't have a I'm angry at you high five. That's wrong and you should be ashamed of even thinking of it.
I like Garnett Lee, i've followed his past podcasts (and this one is good as well with likable people and good commentary) and understand how much of a pioneer he is, but man when he kept on yelling and swearing for no reason during the Tomb Raider section was annoying. Making nagging sounds just deterred me and made me grit my teeth of how no one would just punch him in the face. I understand arguing and debating, but he came off as a straight douche for that segment. just speak your mind rather than make a scene about your disappointment of a game.
Loving the show. And love the storytime. Try to keep it up if you can. The hard work and organization is apparent in the shows. Long time listener and such. Would like the archives available on iTunes though
Used to listen to many video game podcasts but this one has survived the cut and is king of the mountain. It is a show that actually talks about video games and video game culture. They discuss and give in debt reviews of games. Never miss an episode.
Keep up the great work!
Garnett and the gang have their opinions and they stick to it what more could you ask for. I love how they never boil a game down to a simple score, they just let you know what parts of the game work and if there is fun to be had.
Been listening to Garnett for years and he never fails to deliver. This is the best, most professional gaming podcast on the internet.
Garnett is a giant pretentious douche bag. He is incredibly negative seemingly just for the sake of it. He is the type of person who is constantly interrupting others he disagrees with and always has to have the last word, refusing to admit that others' opinions could be as valid as his own. The girl (Nicole is think) is worthless and offers zero insight. The rotating guests are usually good. Jeff Canata is great, too bad he won't be around anymore. I would much prefer it if he was the lead on the show instead of Garnett. For video game podcasts I recommend any put out by IGN as an alternative to this, such as IGN Game Scoop, Podcast Unlocked, or Podcast Beyond.
I just came upon this wonderful podcast a few days ago and it is exactly what I have been looking for! A lengthy and in-depth discussion between genuinely passionate gamers who are actually smart and know the ins and outs of the industry. The show is great because it goes beyond simple questions of "Is this game good/bad?" but rather delves further into the intricacies of business and economic principles, as well as idealistic views into the future of the gaming industry! It is so great! Everyone involved with the show is entertaining and funny. (Jeff Cannata is the man) If you can't tell by now, I really love this show and encourage you to listen RIGHT NOW! I cannot believe I have been missing out for so long. I will now look forward to listening every week. A must watch!!
The show always entertains while it also informs. I would like to thank the crew for also providing a quality website.
This is one of the most informative and professionally done gaming podcast. Period. I enjoy the news and detail gaming experience the hosts try to express. They seem to express their enthusiasm (can't believe i spelled this correctly in 1 try) for gaming very skillfully. If I can point one thing to improve on, it would be to go back on older popular games and see how it hold up. Not like 10 year old games, but like 1 to 2 year hold games. I would love their present opinions vs their views a couple years ago. it will be interesting to listen to how they judge a 2 year old game now vs when the game was just release. Great Jobs! Keep it up! I don't always play new releases. And considering gamefly is the company. I think there are incentives to try to stimulate players in playing older games :)
I genuinely look forward to this show every week. Great hosts, guests and overall format. Can't start your weekend without Weekend Confirmed!
This is the best thing ever to go into a humans ear since the invention of women with British accents.
I've been a fan of Garnett since the days of 1Up. I think him and Jeff Cannata have a great rapport. This is the only gaming podcast that I look forward to, and have listened to every single episode. There's always a new perspective each week because of the rotating guest hosts and that's only one of the things I appreciate about the show!
Since 1up yours garnett has been hosting the best gaming podcast. He continues on this podcast with a great cohost in Cannata. If you miss the old days of 1up or Totally rad show then this is a must download. If your listening to other gaming podcasts your playing it wrong.
Solid show with a really diverse crowd that rotates. Great guests. This is where this show shines compared to a show like giant bombcast. Great views from press conferences, indie games coverage, mobile mentions, upcoming games and current ones you should know about.
Always well-produced and well paced! These guys know how to communicate both news and thoughtful opinions with plenty of humour. I really can't say enough good things about this podcast!
I have been only been listening to the Weekend Confirmed Podcast for maybe 20 episodes, but it is a great podcast. I love the rotating guests as they all seem to bring their own personalities to the show, which changes the pace as well as the topics. I also love that the show does a really great job of discussing the gaming industry at large as well as just the games they are loving to play. If you are a gamer, or just interested in what is going on in gaming, I highly recommend subscribing. Every episode is a winner.
Always an interesting discussion and makes my monday.
I've been listening every week for quite a while now and it's pretty much my go to video game podcast. Jeff Cannata should be in everything as far as i'm concerned. And every time Ariel Angelotti is a guest the podcast is much better for it. It's better than any other gaming podcast I've listened too. And as much as Garnett's constant devils advocat-ing, argument for the sake of argument-ing sometimes grate on me (hasn't done so as much in recent memory tho), it's very well produced ,very much listenable, and ENTERTAINING!
I stumbled across this podcast right as they were getting started and I haven't missed an episode since. Garnett and Cannata have great chemistry together, and the show's constant inflow of interesting guests keep the topics interesting and the opinions varied. I highly suggest this show to anyone interested in a deeper look into the gaming community and I know I'll be listening for a long time to come.
Just wanted to say I love the podcast!
One of the best video game podcasts. Professionally done and in depth discussions of video games and hardware.
best podcast on the web. impartial with angled views not heard from other shows. my top 3: 1weekend confirmed 2giant bombcast 3indoor kids
Garnett Lee, Jeff Cannata, and a rotating panel of guests host the only video game podcast that is a true class act through and through. For two hours, every week, you get raw, honest and mature opinions about every aspect of the games industry. It's funny, it's wonderfully-produced, always informative, and generally just enjoyable; if you're not listening to this (but are reading this), then what are you doing?! Download and start listening. Now!!
One of my most listened to podcasts. Great content and great discussions. I can feel the passion that goes into these podcasts every week. Keep up the good work.
Want to hear from people in the game industry that actually care about video games? Want to leave the fanboy discussions behind and listen to people that understand that competition is good and practice the concept of voting with their wallets? Do you enjoy laughing? ( everyone that isn't a robot should say yes I this one ) LoOk No FuTher! Subscribe to this show! its awesome. Good conversations that take care to represent most opinions. It's fun when they agree and even better when they don't. Their passion for games shines through with every show. . . So subscribe!
This podcast is great, gives me knowledge on all aspects of gaming. I definitely recommend this show to anyone who likes video games. The hosts and guests are very likable and great to listen to. Check it out!
If your looking for a podcast that discuses the current hot topic or that new AAA game your excited about, this is NOT the podcast for you. They'll talk about games that are a year old or some niche game, mobile games, Indie games or MMOs for hours and never talk about the current AAA game that everyones playing and wanting to hear they're opinions about it.
Absolutely one of the best gamer podcasts on the net, hands down. Just the right amount of industry news, philosophical discussion, and game reviews from interesting personalities. This is one of the few podcasts I actually look forward to on a regular basis. Seems like these folks have been kicked in the shins a lot the past month or so. Unfairly I might add. They aren't fanboi's, and call it as they see it. I appreciate the honesty. Keep up the good work.
I started listening to weekend confirmed about a year ago because I love Jeff Cannata. At first, some of the other personalities rubbed me the wrong way. But through continual listening I got to know each personality better. As a result, the show just sounds like friends hanging out and talking about video games. That may not be the podcast for you, but I don't get to talk to my friends about video games so weekend confirmed is my weekly wish fulfillment. Thanks for bringing me here Jeff. Keep up the good work Garnett.
Smart, insightful, hilarious, passionate... Garnett and Jeff deliver the best of the best in videogame podcasts. They are absolutely creative and thought provoking, and the best species of gamers you can come across. Please keep feeding us with "la creme" of gaming talk!
I have always felt this podcast was some what bias and a bit to negative. Now with the loss of two of its members who help keep some what of a balance it has become unbearably to listen to. All they talk about is everything they dislike about somethng. Try IGN podcasts they have a good varity of specific podcasts and giantbomb, you will be much more satified then with this dying horse.
Listened to every episode. One of the best video game podcasts.
This is a great podcast with great minds. During the course of the show I both laugh and think, and there is almost always some angle that I hadn't thought of. If you're passionate about video games, check out this podcast.
The best podcast around with the best cast and crew! Garnett Lee, former 1up podcast now weekend confirmed, has experience and insight far superior then most in the gaming scene. There would be no better person who can give you insight on whats happening and whats important in gaming today the Garnett. Jeff Cannata of recent Totally Rad Show, the most compasionate person around, his moto? He loves loving things! If your looking for the best and up to date gaming podcast, look no further, Weekend Confirmed satisfies your every gaming needs!
So I started listening to this podcast to give my husband and I something to talk about at the dinner table. He's been an avid listener for a long time now and would always share with me game trailers he learned about from your show. I started listening on the sly so I could seem knowledgable but now I've caught the bug-I LOVE YOUR SHOW. Great job guys, thanks for giving my husband and I something to talk about!
Core gamers' podcast that is not overly nerdy. Highly entertaining.
Very well executed consumer-focused gaming podcast. A good mix of news, reviews from a gamer POV - but also with a dash of industry/business insider perspective as well. Well paced, great chemistry between the team. Edit - Just listened to latest show and remembered... Andrea R is *very* difficult to listen to. It's her delivery.
Garnett is a long timer in the industry. Just like Adam sessler, he has a very knowledgable perspective on the industry. Still isn't jaded though :-)
I've been listening for a while, and I think that this is by far one of the best gaming podcasts out there. There are so many people that rotate in and out of the cast that no two podcasts are ever the same, and every week I'm wondering just what they're going to talk about next. The new structure of the podcast, with the guest-specific sections, where each person chooses a topic to talk about, really brings out the best of the cast, and the chemistry between all of them is so great, I find myself laughing in the middle of the street. There is, however, one flaw, which is the reason it only gets 4 stars. I am speaking, of course, of the blatant underuse of ANDREW YOON, who is SO FLY I can't even deal with it right now. I need more Yoon in my life, and this podcast, unfortunately, only gives me the minimum dose. Other than that, I recommend Weekend Confirmed wholeheartedly.
I've been listening to Garnett as host since he was at 1-up. I like the dynamic of the regulars and guests, and how they have fun but remain focused on the topic of the moment. It's my first choice podcast to listen to when there's a new episode out. I just listened to the podcast after Jeff Mattis was let go, so I'm a bit bummed. I want this podcast to remain in production so I'm writing my review hoping to inspire others to do the same to show their support for a great show.
What can we say about the cast of Weekend Confirmed. I trust Garnett and crews take on the gaming world and is my most number one podcast I look forward to listening to every week. Jeff Cannata rounds out Garnett well and the revolving cast keeps the conversations fresh and relevent. Keep up the great work guys!
Gamers rejoice: Jeff Cannata is rising!
I always look forward to my Saturday morning dog walk so I can catch up with Garnett, Jeff and the guest hosts. This, along with the Bombcast, are easily my favorite VideoGaming Podcasts and I never miss an episode. Keep up the great work guys.
Very good discussions and analysis of the weekly video game news
This is the best games podcast out there. Great guys, lots of laughs, and...Nickole Z. So very worth your time.
This is in my top 3 video game podcasts with giantbombcast and rebel fm
This a great show that has lengthy and organized discussion surrounding video games, their mechanics, their industry, and their tech, and their progression. The people gathered every week provide a comfortable atmosphere in which they treat video games with the respect that all art deserves. Long enough to get your weekly fill of news without dragging on. Absolute Must Listen to any fan of videogames.
The podcast is a good attempt to round up the weeks news and viewpoints. I feel Jeff C. has good viewpoints on subjects and has a good way of verbalizing them to the audience. Sometimes Garnett trips over his own language to get his points out but I have to give him points for his passion for the industry. My one little bit of criticism is that he may interrupt the guests a little too much and his juvenile sense of humor undermines his ability to keep the "flow" of the show going. The guest are always fun and provide good contrast. I'd love if they could get John Davidson back for a Third chair..Hell I'd even settle for Shane Bettenhausen...
I mean really.
I started listening to the WC podcast at the end of 2012 and have absolutely fallen in love with the cast. The recurring guests and hosts hold intelligent conversations colored with comedy about the things they care about. Nothing is more refreshing than listening to a person who is clever, and bold talk about something they are passionate about. In an era where I get most of my game news through text based mediums, WC gives me personalities, voice, and relevance which I can use to make informed decisions on the games that I buy. I will not stop listening to the weekly casts until they are no longer produced.
Equipped with a stellar cast of regulars, fantastic guests, and comprehensive coverage of the video game industry, this podcast has long brought a level of value not found elsewhere into my life. Covering everything from recent releases to upcoming events, to news that affects the industry at all levels, this show is not afraid to get into the issues the gaming community faces. Don't let that fool you into thinking they are capable of goofing off and having fun while they do it though! I would strongly recommend this show to anyone with anything more than a casual interest in games.
Love this podcast.
A show begins and ends with the personalities bringing the entertainment to you, and this show nearly has too many to count. All the way from the weekly mainstays to the rotating group of the usual guest hosts, plus the fantastic crew behind the glass, Weekend Confirmed never fails to bring great insight, humorous chat, and oodles and oodles of whimsy every week. Before I begin sounding like a press release or a marketing rep, I'll simply say that the show is a fun little listening highlight for me once a week. Fantastic content and it helps bring a little more depth to all the gaming stories you read online. Side note, the Tailgate sections of each week were a great taste of home for a 31 yr old American living in Denmark. I still play fantasy football in a consistent league that's run for over 10 years now (both the fantasy league and our weekly picks against the spread), but I obviously don't have the chance to talk smack very often. I live a little vicariously through you guys in that regard. That being said...I DID win a few years ago and lugged the trophy overseas to Denmark and China with me. Pics...because it really did happen. :-D
Most balanced pod I've heard. A long episode every time too. Love it.
To paraphrase a great man: I love loving this show. All the podcasters always have great insights into the latest video game news. It's also nice to hear some lady nerds representing among their frequent guests! And of course the endless insights and positivity of Jeff Cannata (two n's; one t) always keep me coming back for more.
Up there with Giantbombcast, and CAG cast.
These guys are always entertaining with laughs, knowledge and great music
Give this a listen!
I consider Mr. Lee the daddy (or maybe grandaddy since he's kinda old) of videogame podcasting. Maybe he's not the first but he has been always the best with the best crew and this version is no different. I salute you sir!
Best when listened to on the back of a Kowasaki Ninja screaming across the alkali salt flats without a helmet.
I've listened to my fair share of gaming podcasts over the years, so believe me when I say, Weekend Confirmed is easily the best one. The hosts are consistently great, they discuss a variety of different topics and trends that are noteworthy in the industry. The cast, from regulars to guest stars are always well informed, and give valuable insights into the latest happenings in gaming. Not to mention they are a funny and diverse group of people, both guys and girls. Some podcasts tend to be too long and veer off topic, whereas some are too short and concise, and become boring to listen to after a while. Weekend Confirmed hits the sweet spot in length and breadth of topics they talk about. Here's to more Weekend Confirmed!
I am sure Garnett would admit no show will ever reach the highs of his 1up Yours, but Weekend Confirmed does a great job carving out its own unique voice in a populated medium. With a fresh rotation of guests and opinions, Lee and Co. continues to lead the charge in video game discussion.
Doing a podcast about videogames, while still making it accessable enough for common listeners, is a difficult task. This show's expert panel manages to educate you on everything going on in videogames, but still keeps in mind the important balance between that and a fun, loose listening experience. Highly recommended!
Garnett Lee (from 1UP Yours) and Jeff Cannatta (from the Totally Rad Show) and the multitude of great guests bring me 2 hours of joy every week! Weekend Confirmed is hilarious, insightful, philosophical, and often homoerotic (LOL). Jeff loves loving stuff, which makes his once-in-a-blue-moon tirades all the more glorious. There have been some amazing moments over the last 3 years, including SuperMegaWorm, Raptor Man, Stanky Dick, Del Rio's awesome remixes, and the weekly tailgate. If you love video games, you should be listening to Weekend Confirmed.
Thanks for the great podcasts. Just thought I would take a second to show my support.
Consistently great discussion about current videogames and videogame news every week.
I thought the last podcast was pretty good. I dont know why everyone was complaining.
Garnett Lee has been rocking video game podcasts for years and has yet to lose his touch. From 1UP Yours to Weekend Confirmed, Garnett and the cast he surrounds himself with always seem to maintain their passion, integrity, and sincerity. These guys know games and love the industry with the flame of a thousand suns. Tune in and witness it.
I've been listening to Garnett and co. since 1upYours in 2006. I've sampled the other video game podcasts out there but none compare. And now with Jeff Canata and some female guest hosts, the show just gets better. Well done.
Best gaming podcast around. I never miss an episode. Keep up the great work!
Long time listener, this podcast is one of the best ones around. The way they talk about games is different from other podcasts, they go into lots of detail about game design that I appreciate.
Weekend Confirmed provides great information along with spirited discussion, they cover all the topics (current) of what's going on in the gaming industry. I also love the fact that the host has guests on that may be against his opinion which provides a more in depth discussion about a topic.
Nothin but love for this show. I look forward to it every friday. Great views and opinions about video games culture. Everyone on the show is awesome and entertaining. I don't always agree with what's said but its always interesting and insightful. Keep it up!
Garnett and his co-hosts and guests make for the best video game podcast available today! I don't think I need to say anymore about it.
before i listened to this show i was in a low point so to speak about videogames. was even thinking about maybe giving it up and start doing something else. i had some free time and something told me (maybe the videogame gods) that i need to look into some videogame pods. i was looking at names of differnet ones and for some reason this one seems ok so i tried it out. and man am i ever so glad that i clicked on this one. i have one other that i really like but i love this one the best. keep up the good work guys.
There isn't much more to say. Garnett Lee and Jeff Cannata do an amazing job! Thanks guys
This show is very informative and fun to listen to. They give good unbiased opinions on everything going on in the video game world.
I've been listening to Garnett Lee's podcasts since he was at 1UP with the 1UP Yours podcast, and he continues to impress me. Each week he gathers up a crew of likable, knowledgeable members of various parts of the industry to give you their honest opinions on the latest video games. I don't always agree with everything they say, but it's always a fun listen and my favorite way to find out if I'm going to like a game or not.
This podcast has changed my life. I have been listening to some iteration of this for the last 7 years. Highly recommended. Big fan of everything Garnet does.
Incredible podcast. Keeps my commute to work entertaining and enjoyable. Great discussions, funny and informative. Subscribe now!!!
I have been a listener of Garnett Lee since the 1UP days and I followed him to Shacknews. Since the first episode of Weekend Confirmed, I have been hooked! Garnett and Jeff are fantastic and I love both of their takes on games and the industry at large. I have listened to many other gaming podcasts and I like the style and flow of Weekend Confirmed best. Sure, they go off the rails now and then but the detours are always a good time and they make sure to bring back the focus to games - the reason why we are listening. My favorite foursome is Garnett, Jeff C., Jeff M. (or is if Geoff?), and Andree Rene. Keep up the great work!
I never miss a week. Great stuff.
I love the gaming discussions, but over the years I've been listening I've come to love the personalities more. Easily my favorite podcast, period.
Easily the best gaming podcast on the net. Lee and Cannata are a great team and play off each other and their guests perfectly.
Jeff Cannata regularly provides insights into game design and philosophy that I like hearing. The show serves as a jumping off point for my friends and me to discuss gaming.
Great videogame commentary, great jokes, and great guests. What more could I want?
Jeff Cannata is the best reason to listen to this show. Garnett is good as ringmaster, but he insists on once a month having his girlfriend on the show, who is hard to listen to. The only thing worse is the always annoying Christian Spicer, or Andrew Yoon, a recurring guest with a speech impediment on an AUDIO program!? Garnett and the two Jeffs are really well informed, and fun to listen to most of the time. They are also afraid to call something out as garbage - they might be a little too developer-friendly for my tastes. If a game is terrible - SAY SO! I miss Video Game News Radio - they called 'em like they saw them.
Very entertaining and has been great for my weekend commutes
This is hands-down one of the best podcasts on gaming. It's very funny and thorough in its coverage and covers console and PC gaming (heavy on the console which works for me as a PS3 and Xbox 360 user). Plus, they engage in NFL football banter and predictions as "plus" content in the fall. Great fun!!
Been listening to Garnet and crew for years. They produce an amazingly professional and enjoyable podcast. My week's not complete unless my weekend's confirmed.
Current video game news and commentary from the likes of Garnett Lee, Jeff Cannata, and Jeff Mattas. What more can a gamer ask for?
I live everyone that comes on here and I follow everyone that it is on the show on twitter. Also the new segment thing is great! Please don't go, I would love to come on the show and chit chat about games!
This podcast gets me through the ridiculous Friday drive home, by far the best gaming podcast out there and full of adult humor, it's a nice mature take on a hobby that is seen by most as a childish one, heckuva lot of fun, keep it up guys, literally wrote this review just because you asked
I've been listening to the weekend confirmed for about a year now and it's become one of my favorite podcasts to listen to. Very informative with great hosts, and it keeps me up to date to the happenings of the video game industry.
Every Saturday morning I make pancakes for my kids while Garnett and the crew roll through the week's games industry nonsense. I love the well articulated opinions and the good natured arguments that result from them. I often disagree with most of the panel but there is usually someone to balance the discussion. The show delivers every week. If you like videogames you should be listening to this podcast.
One of the few podcasts I subscribe to. Really like the different perspectives.
It's the only podcast I really look forward to. I used to love 1up yours, and was sad when it went away, but weekend confirmed is a spiritual successor, and in many ways better. The show features a great mix of personalities and points of view. Garnett Lee is the thread that holds it all together. I usually laugh out loud at least once per episode.
Podcast about games, but with personalities that keeps it loose.
If you're a gamer, this is an essential podcast. Hit the 'Subscribe' button already!
It stands on it's own. Between giant bombcast on Wednesdays and this on sat am my week is complete. By 11/2011 the dumb jokes about "that's what she said" are just getting old. Save then for 1 per show not 10/hour? Btw, it is getting tiring hearing them defend the fact they personally play more 360 and pc games since more friends of theirs have those systems! The ps3 coverage is great especially about exclusive games At least they are now more open to Strambox etc. even their hardware comments are. Very solid. It is so nice to hear "$700 buys an amazing next gen box today" as opposed to John Davidson $7000 All in all giant Bomb 5+ stars this is 5 Keel up good wrok
I have been a long time listener of weekend confirmed. I love Garnett Lee and Jeff Cannata, and hope to see this show go on for as long as they want to do it.
This is a top tier podcast at the level of Giant Bomb, Beyond, & GameScoop. If you haven't subscribe yet then stop reading this and do it!
Awesome to listen to at work, like host opinions
I love the cast and characters of Weekend Confirmed (with a special super shout-out to Indie Jeff Mattas! I wish you the very best <3). This show is a weekly not-to-be-missed.
Been listening to Garnet and his crew since the 1UP Yours days, and they've never let me down. Great, thoughtful analysis, lots of personality, and funny/witty insights go into create the most entertaining podcast around, gaming or otherwise. Check one ep out, guarantee you won't be disappointed.
The best gaming podcast out there right now! Garnett Lee and co. always offer interesting and hilarious perspective on every aspect of the gaming industry. To make things better, they have Jeff Cannata! Cannata is one of the funniest people in podcasting and turns this show up to 11.
A great show that examines games and the gaming industry. The hosts are witty and insightful. Try it out and you won't be dissapointed.
Been listening since the beginning of the 1Up days, and althought the Jeff Cannata can grate on my nerves, I still love the podcast. I hope you keep it going for many more years. Thanks!
Do it an you're cool!
I've been listening to WC for a few months now. I always look forward to the weekend for a new episode. This is The Podcast for gamers!
Mr. Garnett Lee and his carefully rotated cast is absolutely the best gaming podcast out there. With roots back to the pioneering days with Luke Smith, Shane Bettenhausen, Mark McDonald, John Davison and many more from 1up days you need to realize that you get the best and knowledgable experience. And in my book it is also nice with the degree of maturity and quality fidelity that other gaming podcasts fail to cater to. The podcast is the Sonos of music players, the B&O of hifi-designs and the Bugatti of super cars...
I've been listening to this podcast since the first episode, and 1up yours before, and it is an essential part of my weekend and beyond. Great personalities, thoughtful analysis. And Garnett is like an older brother who you might not gel with at first, but give him some time. I can't see my car ride to work on Saturday without this podcast.
Still great. Awesome couple running the podcast with great guests. More Yoon-baby is always appreciated.
Garnett Lee, Jeff Cannata and company never fail to provide 2 hours of the most entertaining, humorous and informative videogame content around. Garnett is a born host and guides the show every week expertly. Jeff provides a refreshingly mature take on a hobby too often dismissed as immature. And the rotating guests Jeff Mattas, Andrea Renee, and company are all AAA talent. Catching up on the weeks news and releases with this amazing group is one of the highlights of my week and I sincerely hope that the show can continue for many years to come.
Garnett Lee is an industry veteran on covering games, and the games industry. This podcast will address the latest games, and also news and important analysis of the games industry. The opinions of Garnett, Jeff, and all of his guests are usually well articulated and always pasionate. Been listening to Garnett for over 5 years now and he is a great host.
I don't often right reviews. This podcast deserves the highest accolades. It begins with Garnett Lee and Jeff Cannata bringing there diverse opinions and entertaining thought. You also get more bang for your buck with the entertaining guests, and great conversation that is had. From top to bottom and over a hundred episodes I've never once disliked and episode. Plus if you have an opportunity for the beautiful Andrea Rene to confirm your weekend you must!
Garnett, Jeff and company do a terrific job of getting all the games news, viewpoints and nonsense into a two hour format each week. They make car rides, runs and anything else you are doing more enjoyable. Thank you for entertaining me each week. I am ghost.
I love listening to what the Jeffs and the regular female cast (Andrea, Ariel and Nikole) have to say. Garnett has a wealth of knowledge on the game industry, although I wish he would dial up the maturity a little bit.
Reviewing because Garnett asked people to. HOWEVER, gamefly got rid of Indie Jeff Mattas, so my support for this podcast has dropped. He contributed genuine content that really made the podcast better (something certain podcasters on this show do not), and I've bought many a game because of things he mentioned on the show. Best people on this show were Jeff, Jeff, Nicole, and Andrew. Show is at least 25% worse now.
The show is appointment listening every weekend.
This is my favorite game podcast that covers the whole galaxy of the gaming industry and has lively characters and a party atmosphere I need at the end of my Friday.
Fun and interesting. My favorite gaming podcast.
A new episode of Weekend Confirmed is the thing I secretly look forward to the most every Friday. The legendary Garnett Lee (former host of 1UP Yours) is as charming and loveable a host as ever. He's always been a bit of a dork and he does make a few bad jokes now and then, but he knows his games and it sounds like he actually enjoys doing what he does. I love his enthusiasm in an era where a lot of video game podcasters just come across as jaded, cynical, and just flat out grumpy. You can be critical of video games and still have a positive outlook, and I think the tone Garnett has set for Weekend Confirmed embodies that philosophy... especially with (the painfully handsome and sexy and smart) Jeff "loves loving things" Cannata as a regular. Also, Weekend Confirmed is one of the few major video game podcasts featuring regular female contributors in the form of the wonderful Andrea Rene & Ariel Angelotti! Love the show, hope they keep it up for years to come.
One of the best gaming podcasts out there. I listen every week.
Weekend Confirmed has been one of my favorite podcasts since it started several years ago. There are a LOT of video game podcasts out there, and this and the Giant Bombcast are the ones I look forward to most each week. The hosts are well-informed and interesting to listen to. I don't always agree with every opinion, but even those I disagree with have compelling arguments. Overall, Weekend Confirmed comes very highly recommended!
The internet is so lonely without TRS (specifically Jeff Cannata), so I have to get his opinion somewhere why not with the always thought provoking Garnett Lee. Also you never know when the wonderful ladies will be to spice things up
By far the best video game podcast available.
After listening to this show for two years now, my week wouldn't feel complete without it. Hosts Garnet Lee and Jeff Cannata are joined by a rotation of regular guests from a wide ariety of backgrounds, including game developers, and do a fantastic job covering all the week's gaming news along with whatever games they've recently played. If funny, informative, and intelligent discussion about video games is what you're looking for, Weekend confirmed won't disappoint.
Keep em coming
It ain't a true weekend without Weekend Confirmed!
Most video game podcasts can "educate," but Garnett Lee and company always entertain. The host (Garnett) is very energetic and sincere, and many of the additional guests are equally passionate in their opinions on new and upcoming games. Weekend Confirmed keeps me laughing, and makes me a more informed gamer and consumer.
Been and avid listener since the beginning. One of the few podcast I listen to ever week.
Great discussion. New format has improved the show. Sometimes a bit juvenile, and occasionally recycles old debates. Still, one of the best game podcasts available.
DON'T GO ANYWHERE. I just found you guys. You make my Friday afternoons fly by. Good stuff all around.
This is one of the best gaming podcasts around, only rivaled by The GiantBomb Cast. Do yourself a favor and listen to this once a week on Fridays. You'll be engrossed in mature and enlightening news and discussions on all things gaming.
My weekend doesn't start until I download the latest podcast and give it a listen. I've tried other game related podcasts and none of them have been able to hold my interest. Garnett Lee is heads and shoulders above all other video game podcasters and has been for a long time.
I don't love to love things (like some people we know of) but I *DO* love this podcast!
I literally look forward to this podcast each and every Friday. Great roundtable discussion with excellent reporting and commentary on all things video gaming. Solid guests with great insights.
Interesting personalities and great chemistry
I'm a lifelong gamer in my mid-thirties, and I discovered this podcast about 4 weeks ago. Since I listened to my first episode, I've looked forward to Friday afternoons even more than I used to! This podcast mixes great info, humor, game culture, etc into an entertaining two hours that shouldn't be missed. I have to note as well that I listed to a LOT of radio - and the Guys and Gals are as good as any radio talk show host(s) out there in the national broadcasting landscape. Garnett is the man. Can't wait for today's episode!!! Subscribe to this podcast to ensure they don't stop making it.
WC is a great show, with varied and interesting perspectives on the world of gaming. Jeff Cannata in particular seems to have a direct connection to my brain. Nicole and Andrea are wonderful examples of female gamers and neither rest upon their tokenism nor obsess over feminism. The show altogether is a highlight of my week, and makes every friday great.
Garnett Lee, formerly the lead of the 1up Yours podcast, is making one of the consistently best gaming podcasts on the web. He and primary cohost Jeff Cannata share a passion for games but have wildly different tastes, which makes for great discussions. Interesting personalities and excellent guests make this a weekly must listen for me, along with the Giant Bombcast and Idle Thumbs.
If you like video games and want to hear passionate discussions about them, check this show out.
I always look forward to the latest episode of Weekend Confirmed! Make it your go to podcast on the world of video games. Mr. Lee runs a great show with superb guests, and co host Mr. Cannata is the most charming man in media. I love loving this podcast
Weekend confirmed is a great podcast of you like games. I feel like a lot of thought is put into the discussions whether you agree or disagree with the person positing the idea. Garnett Lee does a great job of helming the ship (and making inuendos), with Jeff Cannata bringing the whimsy and the love of loving things, and Jeff Mattas is great as the Everyman calming things down. They also have great regular guests like Andrea Rene, Nikole Z, Andrew Yoon, and Christian Spicer. So if you have some time on a commute, or at the gym -- give it a listen I don't think you'll be disappointed.
I've been listening to Garnet Lee since his early days on 1UP Yours (RIP) and the man consistently puts a good show together. Thoughtful, fun, and varied - a well rounded show. Thanks for all the good listening.
I have been listening to Weekend Confirmed for years and it is the best video game podcast i've come accross. Fantastic host and amazing panel each week. Support the show and if you like it give them a good review.
I don't get around to listening to this until the Monday after each episode is posted, but this is easily the BEST videogame podcast I've ever listened to. The discussions are always worthwhile, and just as immersive as most of the games they analytically dissect. Thank you Weekend Confirmed crew, for giving me something to look forward to on Monday mornings.
I have been listening since episode one, as in Jane Pinckard episode one. This show has change, as has my life, but it still feels like having a conversation with old friends in my car every Friday. The only difference is the two year old in the backseat, now. If he picks up cussing I am blaming you guys! The show has been through its ups and downs but you are never phoning it in and always listening for feedback. That is how we all grow. Never Settle. You have never heard from me before, and probably never will again. But we are out there, listening, every week. Thanks for the good times and I hope this helps prove the worth of the show. It has enriched my life for sure. Colin (I also suscribe to Gamefly, don't mess with my show guys...)
The show is comprehensive, intelligent, and funny.
Great, entertaining hosts. Amazing for "as you work" listening.
Great show guys! Keep up the good work! I always look on Friday for the download the minute I see it. Your format has inspired our shows format a lot and I think that says a lot. Best podcast I listen to. Thanks!
Weekend Confirmed is an amazing gaming podcast which every self styled geek should subscribe. The discussions are always pasionate and funny even when they stray to matters outside of video games. The host, Garnett Lee, has been doing an amazing job leading podcasts since his days at 1Up. Many other cast members and guests have come and gone, but with Garnett Lee at the helm I'll continue to subscribe for years to come.
Been following Garnett for a long time now, and while his jokes can be a little too silly sometimes and we have very different tastes on games he always makes a good argument. He keeps the show light and easy going but on topic and intelligent. This is by far my number one videogame podcast....and I listen to many.
The title pretty much says it all. The most in-depth, entertaining podcast on the web about video games. Garnett, Cannata, Mattis, and the rotating guests always being the latest news, reviews, and info on new and upcoming games and consoles.
The weekend is not the only thing that I look forward to now. This is one of the best podcast I have heard and could listen to these guys for 3 hours. Valuable and professional opinions on games, the business, and other things. I will always remember this podcast is why I bought games I otherwise wouldn't take a chance on.
Been listening to Garnett and friends since the good ol' days of 1UPyours. Weekend Confirmed soothes my nostalgic need while keeping me current on the pulse of the gaming industry. Intelligent grown-up conversation that's not afraid to go "off the rails" now and then. Great show for any gamer that doesn't need something shiny to keep their attention. R.I.P. 1UP & EGM. Long live Elephant Sack..
Really enjoy the podcast! Lots of great guest hosts too.
Been listening since the beginning. Weekend Confirmed is one of the best gaming podcasts and always entertaining. I never miss a week!
Been following all of the old 1up-ers, but Garnett still is the keeper of the podcast flame. Keep up the great work! Best gaming podcast hands down.
Been listening since 1up Yours (moment of silence for 1up......ok, I'm good now). Weekend Confirmed carries forward the same spirit and energy we saw from the likes of John Davison, Shane Bettenhausen, Luke Smith, and of course Garnett Lee. And it's no surprise with Garnett remaining as the rock, the heart, and soul of the show. Jeff "2 N's 1 T" Cannata and "Indie" Jeff Mattas form a dynamic duo second to none. Yes, that's right. Not since the glory days of Adam West and Burt Ward has the world known a more charming, witty, and handsome pair of men. And with Garnett together with Jeff and Jeff, you basically have the harmony of Crosby, Stills, and Nash. So you get the picture now...super heroes and rock stars. Who could ask for more? I suggest you hop aboard this crazy train if you haven't already. It's been one heck of a ride through the years. Garnett and his superb co-hosts deliver the goods every week with entertaining commentary and thought provoking debates on the gaming world. It's conversation that changes the landscape like a river through a canyon. Over time, the show has carved a mark in the hearts of many grateful listeners, and its current pushes us on around the next bend with anticipation. Thank you Garnett for what you do, and thanks to your supporting cast. The show means so much to so many of us.
Been listening to Garnett since 1up and him plus his almost always consistant cast creates an amazing dynamic conversation for everyone to listen to. Indy Jeff and Cannata always there for the win.
I love this show! Every Friday I download it and listen to it the first chance that I get. Jeff Connata has some of the best opservations on games and Garnett Lee really keeps the show moving. Keep it up!!
Even though I'm a fan of loving things, I'd give this five stars anyway. In a world of late-teen and 20-something video game news, we have had a steady supply of mature(ish) info, news, and commentary for the rest of us that grew up in the 8-bit era. Keep up the good work gents (and wonderful female guests), you are doing God's work. FIVE STARS!!!
As a long term listener since the 1Up (rip) days I have always found Garnett's podcasts to be informative, entertaining and always worth the listen. I still listen regularly and actually, thinking about it, I don't believe I have ever actually missed an episode! If you are after commentary on the current gaming news, independent reviews that are often rife with opinion (which is why they are always entertaining) and, thanks to the addition of Jeff Mattas into the fold, leads on games you might not always have noticed, this is the place to come. I will continue to listen weekly as Weekend Confirmed remains my primary podcast of choice
Awesome podcast, look forward to listening each week during my commute. Garnett and Cannata make an awesome duo. Steal this podcast and behold!
Been through so many gaming podcasts. This is hands down the only place to be.
Always on my weekly feed, I love the guests and the commentary on the video game world.
Although they can be negative and not always constructive with their criticism, the weekend confirmed team is thorough and detailed in an entertaining way when reviewing video games and the culture surrounding them. This podcast is definitely worth a listen.
Great show. Love it. Jeff Cannata, double n one t. Stop yelling!
If you like video games at all this is the podcast for you. I have been listening to Garnett Lee since back at his days of 1up and he is single handedly the reason why I can not live without podcasts. This show offers the most thoughtful discussions on video games that you can find out there. Mr. Lee please don't go anywhere, even though your a cowboys fan( fly eagles fly) I still look forward to hearing this podcast every weekend.
One of the podcasts I look forward to weekly. The guests are interesting and the opinions varied. A true asset to games media and journalism.
Gone are the days of 1UP Yours and nothing will ever be as awesome but this is the next best thing.
I listen to koxm, Podcast Unlocked, Game Scoop, etc and the people and topics on Weekend Confirmed are by far the best and most entertaining out there.
I love this show. They have a great rotating cast of knowledgable voices, and also the best host! This is something a lot of these shows are missing. Garnett is fantastic at pacing the show and keeping things on track (or helping them slip off-track when appropriate :)
Garnett and the gang bring it every week. I miss all the arguing from the 1up days, but you can't help but smile at Mr. Loves Loving Things. Must listen every week. 1 gripe: Needs more John Davison.
A great informative podcast about gaming. They always have good conversations about everything in the gaming business. They usually keep it professional, but they do have fun. Always entertaining.
I'm very picky about what podcasts I listen to. At the very least I want good recording quality, smart and interesting people, and fun and relevant conversations. Weekend Confirmed has all of that and more! They talk about a wide range of games on a wide range of systems, sometimes get off on interesting (but still game-related) tangents, and always have a wide range of opinions on what's happening in the gaming industry and which games are good (or crappy). And these guys are funny :)
One of the best video game podcasts - period. Once I discovered it I had to listen to every episode. Professional, smart and always interesting.
I listen to this podcast weekly, even taking time away from my audiobooks to tune in. The show is interesting and holds my attention. It's entertaining and just informative enough without getting boring or spoiling things.
As I've gotten older (now 30), I've digressed into casual gamer status. This podcast helps scratch the itch, keeping me in the loop of the latest in the gaming industry. These guys are living the dream... wish I could game as much as they seem to. Long time fan of TRS... it's good to have an outlet to continue to hear from Jeff Cannata.
I love the show. Well informed and many different opinions make for great listening. There usually are great guest too.
Garrnet told me to review their show on iTunes, I am... I have been listening to videogame podcasts since I read that there was a 1up Yours podcast where Luke Smith talked about Monkey Ball Wii, back in 2005/2006... Now since I'm in my work truck driving around all day, that's all I do, is listen to videogame podcasts. Weekend Confirmed is one the best.
Best video game podcast out right now
Been listening to Garnett since the 1UP days and he and his crew make Fridays the best day of the week! I've been listening for far too long for not giving a review and this is to show the appreciation I have for these guys! Great podcast and keep em coming!
I usually save you guys for my commute to school (I ride my bicycle 40 mins to my campus) and you're a lifesaver. I've only been listening for a few months now, but I love the chemistry between you guys. The new format is great, and my only complaint is that I wish each show was longer! Keep it up guys. I value your opinions quite a bit, and I'm excited to continue hearing your thoughts on this new generation of consoles working their way into our lives.
The enthusiasm expressed on this weekly podcast about video games is what keeps me coming back each and every week. Not only do the hosts and regular guests have a palpable love for the industry, they have a fondness for each other that really shines through. There's no bravado, or hubris, but a deep and abiding commitment to share the cool things they've seen or are playing. And that comraderie is a nice contrast to the shallow and selfish cynicism often found online. Subscribe now! You'll be glad you did..
This and the Giant Bombcast are the two places I go for video game news. The humor can get a little juvenile but its still a fun podcast. Andrea Rene who is sometimes a guest however makes me skip that episode.
One of the best gaming podcasts out there. Lose the "I need a drink" track. It's terrible.
I've been a loyal Weekend Confirmed listener for two years now and I still love the show. It's really only second to the Giant Bombcast as far as I am concerned but it's very different. Both are very entertaining but the knowledge base on the. Bombcast can't be beat. Still, Garnett and the two Jeffs do a great job week in and week out of communicating their passion for the games they are playing, something that's not as well conveyed on any other show. I'm not a huge fan of the new segments format but it seems like a compromise to prevent a more drastic format change. Hopefully the show will continue with it's current roster as Garnett's recent appeals for iTunes reviews and word of mouth have me worried. I hope this review and others like it ensure many more months of Weekend Confirmed.
I turn to weekend confirmed for in-depth discussion regarding the latest trends, news and reviews. I just wish the podcast was published more than once a week!
It's great, look forward to it every week.
Made by and for smart people, Weekend Confirmed give us something that is sadly disappearing from game industry coverage: entertaining and thoughtful insight and analysis. Garnett Lee fills the podcast with a cast that is always funny and engaging, but never fails to deliver perspectives that make me think in new ways about this hobby and industry. Thank you!
Love the show and the regular cast of characters. Enjoy hearing the rotating guest voices pop up to inject new blood/thoughts from time to time. I've been enjoying the format change to provide each host a segment in which they can focus the conversation (or try)
Weekend Confirmed stars Garnett Lee, and Jeff cannata. Both are interesting to listen to, and have a great dynamic that counterpoints the other well, without being a dumb debate for the sake of debate show. My two favorite podcasts are Weekend Confirmed, and the Giant Bombcast. I like both for different reasons. The Giant Bombcast is meandering, yet funny. I rarely listen to the whole thing. I usually get an hour or two in every week. With Weekend Confirmed, it's more focused, and I almost always listen to the whole thing. If you like gaming, this is simply one of the best gaming podcasts around.
One of the best gaming podcast you can download. I look forward to Fridays playing a game and listening to that weeks show. Hopefully ziff Davis nevers buys shacknews lol
Every friday I download this podcast and listen throughout the weekend whenever driving around. I love the many recurring guests who make the show different but familiar. The real reason though of course comes from Garnett and the Jeffs who constantly analyze every aspect of what it is we love about games. This podcast is truly professional in its delivery and doesn't drift to far from video games, even when the crew is having a full-blown party during recordings. A good listen for anyone interested in video games or for anyone who enjoys learning about other people's passions.
This is simply the best videogame podcast out right now. They're consistent and they offer a mature and educated opinion on a wide variety of games. They don't waste a bunch of time talking about what they had for dinner the other night. If your mature and a real gamer you will enjoy this podcast.
I listen to you guys every week. Great discussions and quality analysis of games and the industry as a whole. Thanks for hosting a great podcast guys, keep it up!
I don't have a lot of time to play video games anymore, but when I do, I don't want to waste it playing a terrible game. That's why I love the analysis in this podcast. They don't just say that they like or don't like a game, but they give detail why, which helps me determine what game to play. This podcast is an excellent listen at work!
Best gaming podcast period. Garnett Lee and Jeff Cannata balance each other out perfectly. Funny and informative,
Pay the show, admen!
This is the best news/reviews game related podcast named Weekend Confirmed ever ;) But seriously… its good
I could rate this show higher if my enjoyment didn't directly relate to the guests on the show for any given week. There are certain combinations that I just avoid, and if I don't listen to a show every week, I can't in good conscience give it a "great". Garnett Lee brings the best out of his crew through an equal mix of insightful questions and trolling, so much so that I often listen just to join the others in rallying against whatever cockamamie conundrum he's concocted for them. It's like listening to a D&D session where I want everyone in the party to triumph over the DM. Probably.
Weekend Confirmed is an awesome gaming podcast with great discussions and funny humor!
This is the show for you. While they infrequenty digress into rather juvenile topics, for the most part the show manages to be both fun and insightful about the entire scope of gaming. Garnett, when properly focused, is one of the best and most thoughtful games reporter out there.
Been with them from the start. Love hearing the interplay between Garnett and Jeff Cannata. The addition of indie Jeff and Nicole Z as regulars is great. I do miss Brian Leahy's input though.
I've been listening to Garnett for years, and while I don't always agree with the guy, he makes a great podcast that's consistently interesting and engaging. I've become a huge fan of Jeff Cannata in the 2nd chair, and I love the guest spots, especially the women they have on. They bring a refreshing take to a male-dominated industry.
This podcast is the spiritual successor to 1UP Yours, the legendary flagship podcast from 1UP when that site captured lightning in a bottle back in 2006. Now with Shacknews, Garnett Lee brings years of hosting experience that reflects in a tight product with solid weekly guests. Along with regulars Jeff Cannata (who brings rare genuine enthusiasm) and Jeff Mattas (who keeps us all in the know about the best indie games), you get a veteran's view on the video game news, previews, and releases of today without punches pulled. That's not to say they're mean for mean's sake, quite the opposite - there are few podcasts that can take a game, developer, or publisher to task with such reliable experience to back it up. While the jokes can get puerile (an ironic love of "that's what she said" humor is recommended), it is matched by genuinely mature and in-depth conversations about the state of video games. I listen to Giant Bombcast, Gamers With Jobs, and this for my gaming podcasts and I feel satiated.
I have been listening to this podcast for nearly 6 months, and I could not be more pleased. Weekend Confirmed is my go-to podcast for gaming and I am constantly recommending it to my friends. Still unconvinced? Well, you shouldn't be. Go listen now!
I just started listening to this podcast a few months back, and I have to say, it's by far the best of the weekly video game discussion podcasts out there. I literally told my wife last night that this single podcasts makes me excited about Monday.Keep it up guys/gals!
Ive been listening since it was called 1up yours. My weekend isn't complete without this show.
Love this show! It never fails to entertain and inform on the latest developments in the world of video games.
Best video game podcast you can get.
Best video games podcast in my opinion :)
Been living garnet and assorted company for years now.
THE elder statesman of video game podcasts. Quality.
Listen once and you'll be hooked. Great stuff!!!
Garnett Lee and Jeff Cannata are great hosts, and they have an interesting rotation of guests each week. The format of the show has recently changed, so don't expect a lot of video game news or to hear about what the podcast participants have been playing recently (two things which were part of the old format). Tune in to hear about an eclectic range of video game topics, from consoles/hardware to specific games to whatever each person on the podcast feels like talking about that week in the realm of video games. Highly recommend.
It's my favorite gaming podcast!
Garnett Lee does a great job with this podcast by being well prepared with interesting videogame topics and keeps the show moving forward. Very interesting topics about the gaming industry are discussed. The guests are great too.
Consistently one of the best video game podcasts on the net. Garnett is always entertaining as a host. Jeff Cannata is the perfect co-host and Jeff Mattas rounds out the group with great insite into the indy games world. I can't recommend the podcast more. Subscribe now!
This podcast is pretty much everything that I want in a gaming podcast. The discussion is most always on point and intelligent. I enjoy that it is a later in the week podcast, so that they are able to discuss everything that was pertinent in the week of gaming. The discussion is never too technical to be on the side of boring, and they definitely work well as a team, as well as are quite funny. One thing that really stands out is that they do not always have the same opinion, and when they don't they actually DISCUSS it with insightful back and forth dialogue. They are one of the few podcasts that have actually made me think about some of my opinions in different ways. Just listen to it! It really is one of the best podcasts out there,
Always a great mix of folks on. Funny, serious, great source of reviews and pointers to games you might otherwise miss. Highly recommended.
Due to time constraints I normally do not listen to podcasts over an hour long. I make an exception to that rule for Weekend Confirmed. Garnett does a great job hosting the show and there are always interesting guests. Regulars Jeff Cannata and Jeff Matas bring long time game experience to the conversation with different emphases (board games and indie games respectively). The "fourth chair" has a great selection of rotating regulars and some surprises. This is an every week listen that provides some wonderful viewpoints, even when I disagree. Highly recommended.
I have been listening to this podcast religiously for over 2 years and I am never disappointed. The only thing I miss is the music segment. You guys played my music on the show a couple years back and it meant a lot to me. I know there are plenty of other artist that would love that honor as well. Sincerely, Graphicnapkin
Garnett Lee and his cast are a tremendous asset to fans of video games. This podcast started out as the legendary 1UP Podcast that over time eventually migrated to Shacknews and now takes the form of Weekend Confirmed. A mature, rational, clearly articulated discussion of key gaming news each week. If you only have time for one gaming podcast, you will be well served by Weekend Confirmed.
You can tell in host Garnett Lee and co. their massive love for video games and the possibilities this medium brings. They don't just discuss current games and review them, they discuss the philosophy behind then, their emotional impact and potential. All of that sprinkled in with amazing, sometimes childish ;) humor. LOVE IT!!!
I love listening to Garnett n the Jeff's each weekend
Feel like Garnett brings the spirit of 1up Yours/ListenUp to weekend confirmed. Along with Jeff Cannata, Indie Jeff and Andrea make this a podcast I never miss
I have never looked forward to a podcast like I look forward to this one. The conversation is great, the cast is the best, and there's never a dull moment. I've learned so much from Garnett, Jeff C, Jeff M, and all of the other wonderful guests. Keep up the AMAZING work!
Excellent show. I love listening to it and the end of each week. Never Stop.
My thanks goes out to everyone on the podcast for bring an un-biased opinion with great discussions on all the latest & greatest and in gaming industry. I may not always agree with the opinions, but everyones tastes are different, and thats part of what makes the show great. The show never fails to make me laugh. Let the fireball flow! Cheers!
Garnett leads a varying cast of commentators thru a great podcast every week. The only one that annoys me is Ariel Angelotti because she constantly says "um". I counter one episode where she said it 80 times and then I had to stop because it was making me sick. During football season they talk about making picks for the week but this is confined to one segment so it is easy to skip.
Clear, mature, and forward thinking games industry commentary. Keeping it real and skirting the edge.
This is by far the best gaming podcast you can download. Why are you reading this? GO LISTEN NOW!
Helps pass the time at work. Thanks to Garrnet for recommending Dragon Age on PC. BEYOND! Oh wrong podcast sorry. No really listen to this show its great! Five stars!! Even knowing that I should knock you guys down one over your stupid rant over analog placement on the dual shock 4.
Love hearing each week Garnett and Jeff insights on video games and the industry. Many interesting guest chairs. If you are a gamer, you will enjoy this podcast.
This is easily my favorite podcast. I've listed since episode 1 I think that was like 5 years ago. Speaks volumes to how this show doesn't miss a Friday and is constantly fresh
Love the show, listen all the time. Garnett Lee is the best host ever! Listen and spread the word!
Together these guys have been involved in gaming for a loooong time. They've seen it all over several console generations all the way back to the arcades. Also: very funny. Also: hilarious football talk. The DNA of 1UP Yours and the Totally Rad Show survives and makes this show pretty darned awesome.
Jeff cantata, Indy Jeff, Garnett lee, these guys take games seriously, they are funny, they are intelligent and they make great conversation, highly recommend this podcast to anyone who is a fan of gaming.
I have listened to this show every week from the beginning. It is great
I've been listening for months and I still look forward to the new episode every Friday. I enjoy hanging out with the crew and their guests sharing an interesting game conversation while getting a few laughs too. Check it out!
A really great show that simply seems like what it is, a real conversation between people who love games. It's awesome.
I've been listening every weekend since 1up Yours in 2006 and Garnett (and team) have continued to be the most compelling gaming podcast. Every weekend, I feel like I am in the room with Garnett, Cannata and the rest of the gang. Love the podcast, love the group, love the content, love the dialogue, can't wait for the next episode. I would seriously love to be on just one Weekend Confirmed!
Have listened to every episode since #1. Must listen every week for updates in the past week of gaming and opinions of the hottest games on the market.
Great show! If you listen to gaming podcasts, you should be listening to this one.
This podcast, Gamers with Jobs, and RebelFM are my favorites. I never miss a week of Weekend Confirmed.
This should be a no brainer if you love videogames and great conversation. It's not just a recap of news, but honest discussion about past, current and future concerns. Rasies the bar for all others
I can't recall how I got turned onto this podcast in it's prior incarnations, but what I can say is I have been tuned in and a fan ever since. It's been 5 or so years since I started listening to Garnett Lee and the gang, and I've enjoyed (almost) every moment of it. Had it not been for Weekend Confirmed and Garnett Lee, I would have never known about or picked up Portal, Bioshock, Braid, The Walking Dead, Darksiders, Skyrim, just to name a few, and all of the great experiences I've shared as a result. Even when they're talking about a game I don't care about, it's listening, and I appreciate the level of discussion that goes into the show. It's something you can't pick up from Metacritic, or from a xx/100 score. Call it a podcast, games journalism, or a crew just hanging out and talking about games, I call it a weekend tradition. Here's to many more, and thanks for putting it on every week!
Make the show more funny like the old 1up yours day
This podcast and it's ancestor 1UP Yours have been a part of my life weekly for almost 7 years now. It is an AMAZING two hours every week and I wish it lasted longer. I would gladly listen to Garnett and company cast for 5 hours a week, conservatively speaking. I am a huge fan of Jim Rome, and always thought of Weekend Confirmed as "The Jungle" of videogames to give a bit of perspective. I cannot give higher praise to the crew or the quality other than to say I still listen to years-old episodes regularly. Even if the content isn't current, the show is still so entertaining I am always clamoring to listen to the next one.
I've been listening to Garnett and the game for longer than I can remember, all the way back in the 1-Up Yours days. I really enjoy the insightful commentaries, reviews of games that get beyond parroting talking points, and the willingness to discuss everything from main platforms, to board games, to iOS games, and gaming culture. I keep coming back to this podcast however for the discussion of gaming as a arts and communication tool, for the experiences it can provide, and where it sits in society and culture at large. Garnett is a great captain of the ship and is a great mediator and discussion leader and Jeff brings an amazing vibrance, view, and, (for lack of a better word) whimsy to the discussion. They're rotating cast of guest chairs are always a joy and make every week a new experience. This is the one PodCast Crew I've been listening to consistently for years and wait for expectedly every week. Also, I'm not a hardcore gamer. I'm a casual gamer, and this Podcast is great for me as it keeps me informed of all the hardcore news and games coming out and helps me find what I want to play and have time too.
Weekend Confirmed is the spiritual successor to the legendary 1up podcasts (1up yours/GFW) and carrys on the tradition of podcasting excellence. The discussion (led by 1up alum Garrnet Lee) manages to incorporate cogent analysis of the video games industry into a FUN podcast. The hosts are, for the most part, light-hearted and optimistic, certainly less synical than the hosts of shows like giantbombcast. If you like the old 1up crew check this out. If you aren't familiar with 1up but like other video game podcasts (which is probably why your reading this review) check it out. I'm a big time gamer and tech dude and I look forward to listening to this every week.
This is one of my favorite podcasts of all time. It is one of the few place you can find an adult discussion about video games. One week they will give well thought out reviews for games, while another week they will talk about about moral dilemmas the gaming industry faces. Incredibly informative and very entertaining. I highly recommend trying out an episode!
Always has great analysis and commentary that is sure to go off the rails every now and then. I listen each week to get their insight and opinion on the latest gaming news.
This is the best show about gaming I've heard. The hosts are well informed, and they joke but they keep to the subject. Also, their chemistry, is unique. I recommend it to everyone that likes games.
Thanks for keeping me informed
The weekend isn't complete without an episode of this podcast.
Great organization, mature discussion. I don't have much time to play games as before but I still listen every weekend to hear the input and opinion
I have listened to numerous podcasts over the years and none of them compare to the quality of weekend confirmed. Garnett Lee is a fantastic host.
Great good times super happy fun.
I have been listening to game podcast since the days of 1up yours and this incarnation is still the best! Garnett and Jeff rule!
Garnett Lee sparks the discussions, Jeff Cannata gives perspective and talks Garnett off the ledge. Jeff Mattas brings his knowledge of indy games and much more. Frequent guests Nicole Zivalich (x of G4) and Andrea Rene (Machinima?) are great as well and provide a break from the monotony of most video gaming podcasts having only male participants. If you've listened before, give it another chance as I think Garnett has made the show move along better than in the past.
This is one of the best podcasts around, please give it a shot these guys have been in the industry forever.
I download and listen every week. Give it a try if you haven't already.
I can't do no more! *THUMP*
Been listening to 1Up Yours and now Weekend Confirmed since the beginning. Love this podcast.
Weekend Confirmed is terrific, much better than any of the competing video game podcasts - its a great place to catch up on games news and hear about new games that might have been under your radar. Love the length of the podcast and the hosts and guests are really fun to listen to. Plus, its so great to be able to still hear Jeff Cannata talk about games after the passing of the Totally Rad Show.
That sucks…less than 1000 reviews…I mean, we suck…there are way more people listening to this. This could possibly die like so many others…I'm not going to convince you, try it, you'll like it, or not. Bombcast is great too…It's great!
This podcast is a consistently great show. Great insight on the gaming industry and what games are worth adding to your game queue. Do yourself a favor and subscribe!
As the headline says. Great thoughtful analysis on new games and trends in the industry from a group of knowledgeable and entertaining people. Very good recording quality and differing viewpoint making every weekly listen a great experience. Listen to it!
The best video game podcast. I've been listening to this show since day 1, and Garnett Lees other shows for years. The 2 Jeffs are great and the guests are always interesting.
Keeps me entertained on my long runs. I look forward to fridays.
Was a big fan of TRS and Jeff Canata is always great to listen too.
Show has been kicking for a few years now and still entertains me weekly. Glad it exists.
I try to keep up with all the guys from the old 1up and Diggnation days and this is one of the essential podcasts on my list (as well as Rebel FM,8-4play,The Comedy Button, and the now defunct 1up Retronauts). If you like games and laughing you'll enjoy Jeff and Garnett and the rest of the gang. SUBSCRIBE!!!!
I've been an avid listener to Garnett's revolving-door podcast since the 1up Yours days back in 2007. Things have changed quite a bit, and I do have to admit that nothing will ever eclipse the John Davison/Shane Bettenhausen days. But… i still listen every week (and I don't even game every week ..i'm very busy..). And the reason this show has staying power with me? I find it comes down to connecting with the personalities. I listen to a few other game podcasts out there, but Garnett, I gotta tell you, you've always made sense to me… even in your sometimes hilariously extreme viewpoints and everyman sensibilities. He's the kind of guy i would love to have a beer with.. and if you can say that about a podcast host after 7 years of listening, then I think you can safely recommend this podcast and Garnett's individual -albeit special- brand of video game insider culture and viewpoints. I love the show, and keep up the good work guys! -Jonah
This podcast covers all things video games. They are well structured, professional, witty, and hilarious. Once you listen you will join the community and anticipate the weekend.
I've been listening to Garnet since the days back on 1up. And in my not so humble opinion, the gaming industry just wouldn't be the same without the GREAT Garnet Lee. And Garnet wouldn't be the quality reporter without the witty foil of Jeff Cannata. Garnet can run over lesser men, but with Jeff around, the show is fact filled comedy gold.
One of my favorite video game shows.
This and giant bomb are best in class
I love the revolving cast of guests all anchored by the great Garnett Lee! Really poignant tops and lots of great laughs. Audio quality is the best out there.
Ive been listening to Garnett Lee talk about video games for a long time now. Ever since the 1up days he has been invaluable source of knowledge and insight into the videogame Industry. Always surronding himself with a great group of knowledgeable people to go over the latest in games reviews, news, and the occasional innuendo. This is easily one of my must have gaming podcast every week.
Best podcast ever!!! I love it when cannata gets passionate. Great reviews from people I trust. Keep it comin. Great job! Excellent!
Like the show a lot. Not my favourite but it's one of the best games focused podcasts I've heard.
One of the top three video game discussion podcasts out there. Great cast members with insightful, in depth, and hilarious discussions. Can't wait to download the next episode every Friday and I just feel wrong if I miss one. This show has been a part of my life for three plus years and I hope it will continue to be far into the future. Thanks Garnett, Jeff, and the rest!
This is a totally rad show
Love this podcast! They don't score games per-say, but just talk about their experiences with them. Love Garnett and both Jeff's!!!
Listen and enjoy!!
Great way to welcome in the weekend with a vast variety of gaming news and views.
A great weekly show, always fun and informative. Garnett is a great host and Jeff C. Is a awesome co host. I have told countless people to listen to this show at my work and they are all now fans. Working during the week we all look forward to having our weekend confirmed every Friday. Thanks for the great show you give us I have been listening since the 1 up yours days and you guys never let me down. Keep up the great work.
What a wonderful show.
Love the show! 5 stars easy.
It wouldn't be a weekend without having it confirmed. I hope this show can continue for years and years to come. Thanks for keeping me informed and entertained.
In my opinion there are two Great gaming podcasts, and this is one of them. Wanted to give thanks for your work.
I love listening in every Friday to see what Garnett, Jeff, and the rest of the crew have to say about games each week. Keep up the good work!
This is by far the best podcast I've ever listened too. While you do have to be a gamer to fully appreciate it, they are thoroughly entertaining even if you're not. The production value is great, always sounds good and you are always entertained for 2 hours, which frankly is difficult to do in today's multitasking age.
Christian Spicer forced me to write this review, but honestly, this is one of the better videogame podcast. The AUDIO never fails, always clear and understandable. They always have new or previous "cameos" by other people. Quick summary, this podcast is very entertaining in terms of the gaming industry.
Although Garnett has the sense of humor of a 13 year old boy and Matus doesn't have a sense of humor this is my favorite videogame show. That's thanks in large part to the personality and viewpoints of Jeff Cannata.
This is definitely my favorite gaming podcast and one I look forward too listening to during the long work day on Friday. I enjoy the banter and colorful personalities of each host and It makes for a very good listen. They often talk about games I wouldn't normally play and it convinces me to try them just because of how thrilling they make it seem. I would recommend this podcast to anyone interested in games
As the spiritual successor to 1up yours podcast (RIP old friend), Weekend Confirmed brings the heat every time they take to the microphones. Garnett and the rest of the gang do a great job every week of talking video games in an insightful and entertaining manner. Keep up the great work y'all!
Great commentary on the industry from people inside of it. One of the best gaming podcasts out there
This is a great free podcast that doesn't blast you with Ads like some of the other Podcasts I've listened to. Toon in each week to get a really well delieved review of Games, Gaming news and industry trends.
I've gotten tired of many podcasts, but I absolutely don't miss a single episode of Weekend Confirmed. They have great personalities, great guests, thoughtful opinions, and (when they're not drinking) solid organization and production values. It's a joy to listen to Garnett, Jeff, Jeff, and everybody else week in and week out. Keep it up!
Love the show, keep it up. More game talk!
Been listening to Garnett since the 1up days and this is my favorite podcast on itunes! Jeff Cannata is a great co-host. This is a must listen for all interested in video games. Keep up the good work!
I look forward to each Friday's episode like no other podcast. The new format, giving each of the crew a segment topic is a nice change of pace, and while I don't always agree on their points of view, their discussions always entertain. Never missed an episode, and I don't plan to. We are ghost!
I never miss Weekend Confirmed! It's one of the best gaming podcasts on the net. It's fantastic. PS - Bring Alex back! Loved having him there!
So tired of hearing everyone on this show gush over Jeff "two t's one n" Canatta, I lost respect for this guy after he started sending out tweets endorsing television companies so he could get a free 3d TV and plugging his friends game company. It's also annoying to hear how only his opinion is always right and he will argue with anyone who disagrees until they finally give in.
My favorite all around gaming podcast. They touch on mainstream games, news, indie games, past games, and more. I do miss Shane on the podcast :(
Been listening for years, imo best game podcast out there. keep up the good work!
Listen to you guys (and gal) all the time both on the drive and at work. Love the topics and debates. Also like the hardware talk. Love the show!! Keep it up!!!!
I used to listen to the 1Up Show and enjoyed it, the energy the hosts brought was always high and the opinions were all over. I never really liked Garnett on that show, but others said he was a good host so I've tried to listen to Weekend Confirmed. Show is just so boring most of the time. There opinions all seem to be about the same, so there isn't any really good discussion except when someone forces themselves to be of the opposite.
I love the show but Don't be mean to nicole guys :(
I've listened to Garnett Lee since he was on 1-Up yours so I trust him about his options about games, doesn't mean I agree with him on everything but I know where he stands. The same goes for the two Jeff's also they're both cool, funny guys and I understand their tastes also. Jeff Cannata he helped me to remember how to spell his last name. Indie Jeff Mattas you know I'm not sure what types of games he likes to cover? Hmmm. This is not reading like a review I'm sure, listen to this podcast if your into video games it's really a great we'll produced show. Also during football season fast forward to the last 5 minutes if you like football. Thank you and good night. Xoxoxo Alexander W.
Love the show been listening for a couple months now
Show used to be so good until Andrea became an almost regular. Find someone better than her. Her argument when getting into a discussion are laughable.
Nothing against handicapped people at all, but if your picking a career such as radio host/person when you have a lisp, i dont think youve picked the right career
What I've learned from gaming podcasts is that they all have their personalities that can be funny to follow regardless of their opinions. Weekend confirmed though has some great personalities but continues to stay on task most of the time so that there is rarely dull moments. Garnet also asks good decisive and interesting questions that keep conversation flowing. Overall, this is growing to be my favorite gaming podcast when compared to other greats such as REBEL FM, CAGcast, and GIANT BOMB.
Not sure why Gamefly would promote liberal ideology, but I canceled my account.
Love this podcast. I've listened since the first episode, it's great.
Very informative and always a good laugh
Hands down my favorite gaming podcast. These guys make work road trips bearable. Garnett and Jeff have a great dynamic, the guest hosts are usually great (except Sessler), and the topics are always fun to listen to, even when I don't necessarily care about whatever's being discussed. 10/10!!!
I enjoy the show, but it's getting harder to listen to Garnett. If I had a dollar for every time Lee said "Well no I haven't played it, but I think..." I could retire. He will argue points to games he hasn't played at all. He'll bash aspects of games as "Rediculous" but then when pressed will admit he's only played a few minutes. For someone in his position, he really doesn't know much about current games. Loves to talk, hates to actually play through games. Oh, and his sexual comments towards female guests is really off-putting. But, the rest of the crew is great. They're what keeps me coming back.
My favorite podcast. Been listening to Mr. Lee for years. Never lets me down.
Always decent to great but worth your time.
I always liked listening to Garnett and company. Weekend Confirmed was an interesting, humorous and occasionally educational look at the video game industry. However, lately I feel like I'm listening to the "Garnett Complains About Things He Doesn't Understand For An Hour"-cast. If Weekend Confirmed could refocus on talking about things the participants actually know something about, instead of uneducated speculation and misinformed criticism it could be realy great to listen to again.
This is it peoples!!! There is not another video game podcast that even comes close to this. I know garnet is a child blah blah but he provokes conversations and debates. There is nothing wrong with getting passionate about something you believe and there is nothing wrong with playing devils advocate either. Garnet does all of these things beautifully. Jeff is and has always been someone I respect greatly as a gamer and performer. Great show!!!!!!
Jeff Cannata has great opinions on things he is interested in. If the discussion has to do with board games, mmorpg (diablo, WoW), rpg (Skyrim), strategy, etc.. then he is great to listen to. If the discussion falls into the territory of shooter/action games then he really doesnt have a leg to stand on. Even when I dont agree with him though, he still makes relevant points and is respectful of other peoples opinions. Garnett Lee is terrible to listen to 80% of the time. He argues just to argue and when Jeff or someone else tries to offer a rebutal, Garnett just talks louder. Its like he thinks interrupting people with a louder volume is the way to win arguments. Add to the fact that he acts like he is a 5 yr. old. The rotating cast of people (Indie Jeff, Andrea, Spicer) and Jeff Cannata are the only reason I listen to this show.
I mostly just listen to this to hear Jeff Cannata's views and opinions because whether or not you agree with him, he usually has an interesting opinion or a thought-provoking view of a topic. When it comes to Garnett, I feel like he argues for the sake of being argumentative. He's very sensitive to other people's opinions, refuses to stop and listen, and oftentimes drowns out more interesting opinions with loud noises and a "La la la, can't hear you!" level of maturity. If it weren't for the other hosts, I would advise you avoid this podcast. I much prefer EpicBattleCry, The Game Informer Show or on rarer occasion, The Joystiq Podcast.
Can't get enough, keep up the great work.
This podcast started off great over a year ago. The trio of Garnett Lee, Jeff Cannata, & Brian Leahy had great synergy, and they focused on relevant and interesting game related topics. Yes, the music breaks mostly featuring the abysmal Del Rio were always cringe-worthy, but they were worth looking past. Once Brian Leahy left, the show began to quickly deteriorate. As they struggled to find a new host to fill Brian's spot, people like Xav, (Indie) Jeff, and the assortment of rotating people they'd throw in never quite rose to the same level of quality that the show previously showcased. I tried to stick with it, and still listen on occasion, mostly because Jeff Cannata is a really good listen and offers fair and interesting insight and commentary. Unfortunately Garnett Lee has inexplicably spiraled downward and is VERY, VERY hard to listen to. Garnett likes to throw in horribly-timed and flat out unfunny sexual innuendo's about every-other minute. This is exacerbated to nauseating levels whenever the attractive Andrea Rene guest appears on the show, when it's most obvious that Garnett has the biggest raging boner under the table for her. It's annoying and borderline creepy. It's a shame, because this podcast used to be one of my favorite things to listen to every week, but it's sadly been reduced to 80% Garnett cracking banal jokes to himself coupled with uncomfortable chuckles from his co-hosts trying not to make him feel bad and pretending they think what he says is funny, and 20% gaming discussion and news. Jeff Cannata is the only redeeming part of this show, and he can be seen on TRS (Totally Rad Show), so you're better off finding him there. It's a shame this show has been reduced to Garnett's morning show-esque potty humor, dick jokes, and pretending to be drunk while podcasting. Get over yourself.
Loved that show, great hearing Garnett on the mic again! Love the show!
I've listened to WC since July '10 it's been a blast. I like the dynamic of the group. Keep doing your thing WC crew. Haters gonna hate, but y'all still do your thing.
It's pretty when they aren't shoving their left wing propaganda up our butts like in the episode with David jaffe a couple weeks ago. Please just stick to videogames. Also, I find Jeff Canada (sp?) incredibly snobby and elitist at times.
Garrett is a wii u fanboy now and all this show has become is a promotion for their shows. Still has it moments though.
....you should listen to the Bombcast. If you have time for two... You should listen to The Besties. If you have time for three, then this is worthwhile. Garnett is hugely annoying and often picks terrible topics for conversation, and he insists on sticking to a rigid format full of breaks. When they actually have a good conversation going it is often halted to force us to listen to a plug or music break, and when they return they go on to something else. If it weren't for the Jeffs I would not listen anymore.
I have been a subscriber to weekend confirmed now for a little over a year now. I have never really been one to write a review before but I write this with the sole intention that one of the shows hosts will read it. I used to really enjoy the show It was perfect in that it comes once a week and is long enough that i can listen to it on a drive from my place to LA for the weekend or any number of things. The immaturity that would sometimes ensue on the show never really bothered me (Stanky Dick was a complete failure but not enough to warrant a unsubscribe). However I will now be unsubscribing to the show. In my opinion Jeff Cannata and Andrea are the only people worth listening to anymore and I can get all i need of Jeff from TRS show. Having to hear Garnett practically call out the audience for Ariel having to leave the show really wore thin on me, and after the last show where they went off on the fans for being upset about their conversations on Kickstarter I was just turned off. When Garnett made the comment to Spicer about "Do you ever review games that you pay full price for?" in a way to make his point about how WC isnt a shill for Kickstarter I believe he completely missed the point of why fans were upset. It got into a kind of elitist defense that left me a bit uncomfortable. Reviews of games are suggestions to a comsumer, when warranted you can even go so far as to say a gamer should purchase. The discussion that ensued for much of Ep 111 and 112 was a bit uncomfortable and almost felt like the "biased nba ref" Garnett is doing a career suicide over his objection to Ariel not being on the show anymore in combination with the Ep 111-12. Jeff you are the lonely reasonable person on the show and I hope that something changes cause while Garnett is on the show i will not be listening A concerned fan
Weekend confirmed is one of the best video game podcasts out there!!!
This show was good when they first started up. Now, it's like a cliché " radio morning talk show". They try harder on the really bad jokes than the overall material. I used to really love listening to Garnett Lee when he was on 1UP, but he's just so over barring on this. Ugh. Sorry, but I can no longer listen to this earache...
Seems sort of full of itself. Some of the comments sound like they're made by people who don't play video games. One example from a recent podcast is when they criticized the Mass Effect 3 writers for adjusting the story and they went. This literally happens all the time and some of the best IPs have been effected (positively) by this. It's exactly how Portal became what it is. There are other, probably better, examples that I can't really explain briefly. Good podcast but they should maybe think harder about what they choose to argue. Maybe they just do it to create debate but it doesn't work for me.
My Fridays get that much better after listening to this podcast
Thoughtful, funny, and intellectually engaging.
I find this podcast to be incredibly entertaining. Each of the members of the podcast provide there own insight and they keep each other on track. My major "beef" with other podcasts like giant bomb is the endless talk about stuff I don't care about. Don't get me wrong I enjoy those podcasts but weekend confirmed is always first or second (after cagcast) on my listen list. Thank you guys (and ladies) for your excellent podcast.
Been listening since the beginning. Garnett and Jeff always talk about the games that are hot at the time and they are usually pretty fair about each game. Sometime Garnett plays the adversary just to make Jeff and whoever else is there talk, but it makes for good conversation. Del Rio's weekly mixes are so freakin' awesome. This podcast is probably one of the best parts of my weekend. Super mega worm.
Jeff has wonderful insight into gaming, I would listen every week just for him. Luckily mr Garnett lee has been coming up with the right formula for astounding podcasts for years now.
I cant quite decide how I feel about this podcast. I have listened on and off for the last year or so, but I cant quite decide if I love it or not. There are great aspects of it and sometimes I am completely jiving with it and other times it rubs me the wrong way. Sometimes it feels like Garnett Lee is agressively playing devils advocate for the sake of trying to create more conversation. For example the Reckoning conversation, he was nick picking at jeff about his thoughts so that he could kind of strike a conversation I guess. It is hard to explain its just kind of annoying when its manufactured like that. When they get into legitiment conversations or slight arguments its actually amazing, but when they force it, it makes for an uncomfortable show. But its good for the most part, a little long and fills my joystiq void.
Great sound, perfect levels. I really miss the starcraft nerd because he was easy to relate too. Garnett and Jeff do their thing well, but most of their guests are either too uptight or just lame. Rene (or whatever her name is) is probably the hardest to listen to- poor arguments, annoying voice, only plays ME2. I actually have to skip episodes she guests. Angelotti (?) and Billy are great though and del Rio makes some classics.
Listen to P cast @ work, keeps me awake on 3rd Shift
Great show with a mix of personalities. Jeff can get a little overzealous about some games but he's an integral and enjoyable part of the show. I love the female guests. It is rare these days to get a female perspective on a gaming show. AR was spot on with her assessment of the used game market. Gamefly and other rental services are how I survive having such an expensive hobby. If it wasn't for used games is have to give up on my console completely and rely on PC and steam sales. GameStop is the true problem.
This show fills the void 1up Yours and GFW Radio left for me. While this show isn't as good as either of those shows at their height, it is still a very enjoyable, very solid, look at the videogame talk of the day. YMMV depending on who the guest panelists are, but the foundation of Jeff and Garnett is a good one. I do cringe at Garnett's sometimes sophmoric sense of humor, but that only pops up here and there, and isn't a dominating aspect of the show.
Bar none! Intelligent, insightful and witty. Very well articulated arguments. Even when I disagree with something, they always make me consider something I never thought of.
Keep up the good work. Love Andrea as guest host. Bring back "2 'n's 1 't'!!!!!!
Don't care for the condesending undertones. They take things way to seriously. Maybe you don't like story getting in the way of your games but many gamers do. Some of us are perfectly happy to hit tab and face roll through combat. Chill out a bit, your no fun to listen to when you start lectruing us about game mechanics and poor story plot. They are games and not some existential lesson on life.
Ever since Idle Thumbs ended, I had been looking for a podcast that could replace that Thumb shaped hole in my life. Though I've not found it, Weekend Confirmed definitely matches up on the insightful side. No other website-based podcast seems as willing to dive into the broader concepts of mechanics, ideology, and theory all the while keeping an irreverant tone. It's quite good, so give it a listen.
Always entertaining, and very smart commentary. I've been following this show since its 1UP days (EGM/CGW). Keep the content coming. Great job. Those reunion shows are a great idea, but the last few werent so stellar. Maybe do it in a studio vs. live?
This podcast is actually fairly interesting but after listening for about 10 episodes I just can NOT take it any more. The co-host, Jeff is so annoying with his having to spell his last name EVERY dang episode. NO ONE cares! He comes off as egotistical, arrogant, pompous and self-important. It's too bad that he has to ruin the podcast because the host, Garnett, actually does a great job with the podcast. I just can't take the smug Jeff any longer.
Wish it had a different anchor, because Garnett is a very difficult listen. Cringeworthy sense of humor, at least 2-3 absolutely idiotic argumentative points per show, and a temper that, when it bursts, is unintentionally funnier than the sum of his intentionally unfunny jokes. I'll keep listening because I enjoy his co-hosts, especially when they let his jokes and points just die on the vine like they should. But I wish I didn't need to rest my eyes from rolling them so much at Garnett's manchildish routine every single episode.
I've been following Garnett since 1up (yours). Garnett, Jeff, Xav, and whoever is in the 4th chair provide excellent, thoughtful discussion on gaming and the industry. Love to hear what they're playing, and even look forward to the breaks to hear Del Rio's mashups. The tangents into boarding gaming, hockey, and Porsche ownership add rather than detract from the entertainment. Finally, there are the special reunions with Pappy Green, Man-God Shane, and Lord Davidson. Only negative is that we're limited to 52 weeks in the year. Thanks guys!
This show combines a cast who's chemistry is great along with fantastic banter coupled with quick wit. Add in deep conversation about in game mechanics and topical game issues and you have the best videogame podcast out there. Excellent job guys.
Keep up all your hard work guys
